This little ice-cream shop is known for their creative menu items. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The building does not have a seated area inside, but you can stand and eat inside at a long high table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I used the kiosk to place my order and it came shortly after. There isn't anything more to it.
I ordered the red bean and black sesame taiyaki, and it was delicious! The taiyaki is fish shaped, and served hot and fresh! The filling of the red bean and black sesame goes so well with the fish waffle. The staff was very quick and friendly! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only thing I would say is that the store only has tables and no actual seats so you can't sit inside to enjoy unless you eat standing up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It would be nice to have seating inside, but it feels more like a to-go place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]However, there are some benches outside![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]
Came here for the Upsidedown taiyaki + soft serve in a cup! I got soft serve matcha/ube in a cup for the win. It was perfect on a hot afternoon day. The flavors of soft serve and made to order taiyaki is amazing. It was nice there were two kiosks where you could put in your order. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only not-so-pleasant part of the experience was the tight spacing and standing room only while you're waiting for your order.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]
I haven't tried to many Korean desserts, so after having lunch I searched the area and decided to give Somi a try. I kept my first time order pretty simple, trying the Ahboong which is a fish shaped waffle cone with milk flavored soft serve topped with oreo and fruity pebbles. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside of Somi is not very large and there is no seating so it's really grab and go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I enjoyed the fish waffle, it was soft and chewy and had a slight crisp on the edges. I really liked the milk soft serve as well it was light, creamy and taste like a mild vanilla ice cream. Overall, I enjoyed Somi and would return to try the other menu items.
This business was featured in the Frisco travel book. I rarely eat ice cream. Had spouse drive over here after eating and In -n-out and shopping. The fish waffle comes with your soft serve combo. You pick soft serve flavor, I chose matcha Ube, you choose a flavor for fish waffle cone, I chose custard, then toppings. I chose cotton candy( think it was nerds) and Graham Cracker. I took a photo before eating and kept the cool spoon. This is Korean ice cream. Yummy! Spouse even liked the custard fish and ice cream. Definitely stop in if you get a chance! Review 14 in 2025.
My brother wanted to get Somi Somi after his graduation and we barely made it before closing. My brother, mom, and grandparents each got their icecream with a taiyaki on top. I ordered 2 pieces of taiyaki, one custard and one black sesame. However, they forgot to make my order and were starting to clean up to close the place. I had to remind them of our order and in return they made me a double order so I got 4 pieces instead. The taiyaki were warm and crispy on the outside yet fluffy and creamy from the custard within. I only got to try the custard taiyaki since my family all took one to try but I was told the black sesame one was good as well! They also have other filling flavors such as Nutella, red bean, matcha, and Oreo
Went on a Sunday afternoon afternoon fortunately no lines. Loved the ube flavored ice cream in a cup and topped with toasted coconut crunch bits. Price is fair for the amount of ice cream you get! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Standing only but not really a space issue.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Most people are in and out very quickly. If I had more room, would have gotten the Taiyaki on top. My friend loved this flavor as well.

Super cute place! Bright yellow decor and the service was fast and friendly. I got their set of taiyakis, which were hot and crispy on the outside, and gooey on the inside - so good!! My brother got the Ube icecream with the custard taiyaki and the flavors meshed well together, great dessert spot!! read more

First time trying SomiSomi and I loved everything about the experience. It was so easy to order what I wanted and they had a couple different flavors to choose from as well as toppings. The shop itself was a little small so it is difficult to stay in and eat but there are a couple of tables outside for you to enjoy your treat which was nice! The staff was so friendly and very efficient as well, we got our treats very quickly which I was pleased with! read more
Couple pro tips: 1. Go at odd times of the day to beat the rush! 2. If your friend doesn't want the strawberry or macaron, ask them to put it on the side for you. If your friend declines the added topping, the offer is off the table. read more
Even surrounded by so many other choices, I knew I had to stop here. Haven't been since I went to the one in LA, so I was pretty excited. The decor of this place is super cute, they have a couple submarine window paintings that can act as a great background for when you're taking pictures of your food! Love that even being lactose intolerant I'm able to enjoy this stuff! My go-to is always a custard filling with matcha ice cream! I've tried the swirl with black sesame and it was delicious too, just not my favorite cup of tea. I appreciate that nothing here is overly sweet, whether the taiyaki or the ice cream. The taiyaki is soft with a little bit of crispy by the tail. Would come back here in a heartbeat! Only con is there's no seating, so you either have to stand or find somewhere else to go (but not before you take pictures!)! read more
A different game altogether if you're a sweet tooth addict. The ice creams are so creamy and love the cantaloupe one. They also have fish shaped sweet treat filled with different flavors and taro is my favorite. Kids love the fishes here and the Nutella one is their favorite. This plaza has a ton of fun eateries, if your a foodie make sure you try this for sure. Prices are reasonable. Parking is in the plaza! read more

It's my second time coming, and it is still phenomenal. Masks are required but they can provide them for you. Service was friendly and quick. There is not a lot of space, so you may have to eat it outside. The Nutella filling is the best, and it goes really well with the cookies and cream ice cream. This place is for sure a must-visit! read more

Delicious taiyakis! They offer them in five different flavors, Cheddar, Nutella, ube, red bean and custard. Our taiyakis were made to order and we could actually see them make it. The Ube and red bean were amazing, the custard not so much. Quite disappointed actually with the custard. The crust was great! Crunchy on the outside, soft and slightly chewy on the inside, loved it! Priced reasonably too. Will definitely go back and try some of their soft serve as well! read more
Love the custard taiyaki here. You get more ice cream if you get the upside down ahboong same price but seem like a lot more ice cream at the bottom of the cup. This place is very crowded on weekends. Standing room only no seats. read more
We finally were in the area and could check out this place. There was a small line and a short wait. It was totally worth it! Tayaki was exactly how it was suppose to look and taste, and is also super cute. They serve also the "fish shaped waffle" with ice cream "ah boong". I love when food looks and taste good! We did try they bottled cold brew that was also delicious. Super recommend it as a fun dessert option.I hope they open more locations in DFW soon! read more
There was so much hype and expectations around Somi Somi, but I've never been to one until now. The hype didn't meet my expectations. It was my first time to Somi Somi. The place was crowded, and I felt like the customer service wasn't that great, at least from the cashier herself. There wasn't anything special about the flavor, with the exception of a few, and the food was desserts were undercooked and was already melting by the time it was handed to me. We ordered two soft-serves (Ahboong and Upside Down) and 5 Taiyaki (Custard, Oreo, Taro, Nutella, and Red Bean). The Upside Down was a lot better in terms of portability and neatness. The Ahboong becomes a huge mess when the soft-serve begins to melt. I received my Ahboong in melting conditions because there was a situation that the staff had with another customer while she was holding my soft-serve for about 5 minutes. I thought that the melting was normal until I saw my significant other's perfectly-looking soft-serve (because they just did his). It melted on my clothes and all over my hands--it was just a huge mess. Aside from my situation and my soft-serve, because I was already in a bad mood, I didn't really enjoy my Ahboong--Oreo and Custard. However, Jordan enjoyed his Upside Down a lot--Ube/Matcha and Red Bean. Aside from soft-serves, the Taiyaki(s) weren't great fresh nor was it great refrigerated. The exterior was only slightly crispy while the interior was completely mushy/doughy. I'm unsure if that's how it normally tastes, though. As for the customer service, because it was my first time, I felt a bit dumb, by the cashier, about my questions. For instance, I saw a bunch of people standing in line with soft serves in their hand. I thought they were waiting in line, in order, to get their food and that they'd get their soft-serve at the cashier. When I asked the cashier would we be called or if we would wait in line, she stated in a very demeaning manner, "That's why we ask for your names." In addition to this, my soft-serve being melted so early because another staff member was holding onto it forever (I watched her as she was holding it because we were waiting for a while and I didn't have anything better to do). Overall, maybe on an off day it would have been better, but the customer service and the desserts weren't up to par with all of the hype I've been hearing about. I don't think I would return, but Jordan would for their Ube and Red Bean. read more

I have always wanted to try taiyaki so I was super excited to come here! I ordered the Upside-down Ah-Boong with Mango & Honeydew Swirl and custard filling. Although the Ah-Boong is more aesthetically pleasing for pictures, I highly recommend getting the waffle on top because it'll probably get messy. The fish shaped waffle was perfectly crispy and just heavenly! I was pretty disappointed with my soft serve though... The texture was great, but I got 2 flavors swirled together and it only tasted like honeydew. I tried my friend's matcha and cookies and cream swirl and that only tasted like matcha. So, do NOT get the swirls, you're better off with one flavor. It was quite busy when I went, but they have a few benches outside where you can enjoy your treat. This place is a must-try, but you gotta try the right thing or you'll be slightly disappointed like I was. read more
I have been waiting for this place to open for so long & it lives up to the hype! The location is large enough to form a line snake inside to stay out of the heat. The decor is bright and clean with a simple design. They form an assembly line of your Ah-Boong so you can see your creation unfold right in front of you. The swirls change weekly so you can come back and try new flavor combinations. If you're not a big fan of soft serve, you can try the taiyaki by itself with all the same flavors for the Ah-Boong except a cheddar flavor taiyaki, for the adventurous spirit. My boyfriend and I got two Ah-Boongs, one with the milk tea/oreo swirl with custard taiyaki and the other with matcha/milk swirl with red bean taiyaki. Both were delicious but melted quickly in this Texas heat! We will definitely be back to try new Ah-Boong flavors and take some taiyakis to-go! read more
Wow, Somi Somi lives up to the hype! It was so delicious. We went on the 3rd day of grand opening on a Sunday afternoon and the lines were wrapped around inside and out the door not too much longer. They did a good job in taking the orders and keeping the lines moving. I got their Ube Ah-boong. The Ube soft serve was soo good. The Ube flavor was apparent. It has such a subtle flavor that a lot of places can't get the flavors to appear. It looks like it's standing room only. Wish there were some seats so you can have a place to sit down and chit chat with friends. read more
I recently got my fiance into the "fish" desserts (Korean fish shaped sweet snacks!), and he loves the ones filled with red bean. I bought a 5 pack to bring home so the family could try different flavors including the taro, custard and nutella filled. I love the soft serve options too, but since it was a 100+ degree day and I had a long drive ahead of me, I opted for the filled fishies. They were so warm and chewy, I loved how they were made and how they tasted! My favorite was the sweet red bean because I'm a traditionalist and it brings me nostalgia. I am excited to have SomiSomi here because I use to go all the time in San Diego. Happened to walk by during their grand opening weekend so decided to stop in. Normally I get their ube and black sesame but decided to try the matcha & milk ah-boong with a red bean filled fish. The matcha & milk was only okay - the matcha flavor was very very subtle. I'd recommend the ube and black sesame flavors instead. It also came with a free mystery taiyaki with the purchase of an ah-boong. I ended up getting custard which I wasn't a really a fan of. Not the custard I've had before in taiyaki. read more

Woooow! I fell in love with this place. The taiyaki come out pippin hot with delicious flavors! The dough is perfectly buttery. I think it is a fair price for how fresh they are! The ice cream are also very creamy and a perfect pairing. My favorite is the Nutella and red bean ones! Highly recommend!! Be warned tho, when you get the upside down ice cream version, there is not a lot of filling in the fish. You would have to get an individual taiyaki for it to have a lot of filling. But nonetheless, still delicious! read more
Got in here for Taiyaki soft serve ice cream This place just opened yesterday here in Frisco. It's packed, lots of people are in line. Wait time is 20 minutes. They're giving away free taiyaki for the next three days to celebrate their grand opening in Frisco. I ordered Matcha milk soft serve in a cup with fried coconut sprinkles. It's deliciously creamy. Serving staff are friendly and helpful. Well lighted and very clean place. read more
Great dessert spot with Taiyaki and ice cream! Taiyaki comes with a filling (custard, taro, Nutella) and can pick a blend of soft swerve along with topping and choice of macaron or strawberry. Line gets long on weekend nights but moves fast as there are two screens to order yourself and one cashier to take orders. Big space for seating with tables in the back, and has water on tap. Also has a restroom in the back corner. read more
What a great place to get your late night sugar fix! Was visiting in town and stopped by for some ice cream! Be prepared for a line but it moves fairly quickly. Pick your ice cream, filling flavor in a cup with the fish waffle or in the waffle itself! YAASS, so excited that SomiSomi decided to come to the dee-eff-dub. My cousins in Cali highly recommended it to me so I had it bookmarked for my trip there but now that it's here in Texas I can unbookmark it! Before SomiSomi, there was only one ah boong place in the DFW (Carrollton) and it was a hit or miss so this was a much needed addition to the metroplex. Their taiyaki is delicious! Good batter, baked to perfection, filled with ooey-gooey goodness...what more can you want? They have many options to fill your taiyaki with - I particularly like the custard. My sister loves the red bean. It's cool how they have different machines for making the taiyaki fish and the hollowed out ah boong fish. Their soft-serve is super good. I got the ube and black sesame swirl and thought both flavors tasted phenomenal together. The nuttiness of the black sesame and the faint sweetness of the ube...mmm mmm. My sister got the milk soft serve and I thought that flavor was tasty as well. Their soft serve has a good texture and thick, creamy consistency. All in all, SomiSomi is just a fabulous dessert place. If it wasn't all the way in Frisco I'd probably go ALL the time. My only complaint is that when it gets crowded, the workers don't seem to know how to create an efficient system with dealing with the crowd and it can get confusing as to where the back and the beginning of the line is. read more
My friend and I have been waiting for this location to open for almost a year now! She first introduced it to me in SoCal, and we were so excited to see that a location was opening in the DFW area! We were both really eager to have a place with amazing black sesame soft serve. We came on opening weekend after dinner, and there was a huge line. We agreed that the inside of the place was well-designed because there was minimal seating and more stand-up bars to eat on so that there was more space for people to line up. They were very efficient in taking and cranking out orders, and I think we ended up waiting about 20 minutes for a 30+ person line. I ordered the upside-down ah-boong with black sesame soft serve. It tasted just as good as the one in San Diego. The black sesame flavor was light and nutty, and the texture was so smooth. The fish pastry portion was also pretty good, but I think it started becoming too sweet for me during the last few bites. We also got samples of their custard-filled taiyaki, which were delicious as well but just way too much food for us. I just wish this place were in Dallas instead of Frisco so that I could go more often! Then I'd probably be here at least 3x a week... read more
Definitely one of my favorite soft serve spots in the DFW area! This was my first time at this location and it did not disappoint! I love the small but just enough variety of ice cream flavors and that we could get the upside down ahboong in a cup!! I got the cookies n cream/ube swirl and could taste both flavors! Wished they had matcha but I'm hoping that flavor will come back. I was pleasantly surprised by the free toppings option too! It was quite a delicious treat after dinner and can't wait to come back! SomiSomi! It's always a good day when you have SomiSomi! SomiSomi takes on a popular Korean dessert known as "Ah-Boong", a fish-shaped waffle (taiyaki) stuffed with filling and ice cream. Workers make these "cones" on-the-spot and fresh; you can literally see them flip these fish waffles right in front of you! SomiSomi usually has 5 ice cream flavors available, at least whenever I go. Commonly, I see oreo, matcha, sesame, ube, and milk. Every week, they'll create swirls with two choices of flavors. Next, you're able to choose the filling that goes inside the taiyaki. I like nutella or custard, but they have other options available like red bean! You can see the workers create this ice cream delicacy right in front of your eyes. They'll then ask you if you'd like any toppings, such as oreo crumbs, graham crackers, or macarons! It's such a fun little process that kids would especially love. On this particular day, I saw they have a cold brew with ice cream available which is a fairly new item. I decided to try this with matcha and sesame swirl on top. The cold brew was a bit on the bitter side and strong; however, when mixed with the ice cream it was sweet enough for me. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who doesn't like strong coffee flavors though! read more
This place is good I like the fish cone! The Nutella filling was delicious! However it's not necessarily $5.95 a cup good. We got the milk and Oreo/milk and they were ok. If you live In the area and want a fun experience I'd come once but I wouldn't do what we did and drive 50 miles to try it. read more
Cute place. Mask required. Ordered the cookies and cream ice cream and had custard on the inside. Nice hot and freshly made fishy waffle. Planned to eat it on the outside patio but it started sprinkling. Took it home and it was slightly melted before I could take a decent picture. It was yummy though. read more
This place is pretty good. When we went, there was a line but it moved pretty quickly. The space overall is pretty small and there's no seats. It only has standing tables and can get pretty clustered when it starts to get more crowded. The dessert overall was perfect. The ice cream itself isn't super sweet and neither was the custard filling I got. You really taste the black sesame and ube. It's a great flavor to try if you wanna experiment. I'll say that there is A LOT of ice cream so it's worth the price you pay. I went to lunch prior to somi somi was I was tired of the ice cream pretty quickly. It's nothing to do with the ice cream or taiyaki, I was just full. The actual taiyaki was PERFECT. It was a perfect crispiness on the outside and a softer chewy inside. They make it right in front of your face too which is cool. The milk and matcha ice cream was okay to me. The matcha wasn't too apparent in taste and would probably be better by itself and not swirled. So much ice cream though. Both my desserts came out quickly as well despite the line and small crowd. I highly recommend getting a plain taiyaki and one ice cream to share if you just ate. I live far from Frisco so wouldn't go out of my way to come back but would for sure stop by if I was in the area. read more

I've heard about this place and finally got to try it! I ordered the Oreo and Strawberry swirl, with the upside down fish filled with Nutella, topped off with Oreo crumble and rainbow sprinkles...yeah it was my daughter's choice :) The soft serve and fish were so good!! We do froyo, gelato, etc all the time and couldn't believe how good this was. Now we want to try the other flavors!! Service was fast, workers friendly, place was clean, we ate outside because of the limited capacity. Overall I'd recommend and will be back for more! read more

So my best friend and I went to the revolving sushi restaurant for dinner, after we got done we went next door to try some Somi Somi . Yummy!! I had the Milk with a Nutella filled cone and Oreo on the ice cream. It was so delicious the cone was so yummy. Not crunchy it is well just something you have to try. Needless to say can't wait to go back. At this day they still require a mask!!! read more
Fresh made Taiyaki and ah-boong! Come with multiple options for fillings. Three best part is the soft serve ice cream. You can get it in a hollowed out shell (ah-boong) or by itself. Very soft and creamy. The matcha soft serve has a strong matcha flavor. Just make sure you eat it fast cause in the hot Texas summer, it will melt fast! read more

I really liked this place!! While visiting Dallas my friends and I stopped at SomiSomi for a quick ice cream treat. It looks like a normal ice cream shop, not very big and minimal seating. The thing I was most looking forward to was trying the Taiyaki. I have seen these little fish everywhere lately and was dying to see if it lived up to the hype... they do! I chose to have a cup of the green tea ice cream with a Taiyaki on top filled with Nutella. We also got a choice of about 6 toppings with no extra charge. I decided to add some coconut flakes and crushed Oreos. Overall my ice cream was delicious! The flavor was great, it was closer to a frozen custard consistency, and the toppings were nice. The Taiyaki itself was delicious!! It felt dense but light and fluffy at the same time. Adding the Nutella made my taste buds super happy. Overall it's a really nice spot and should definitely be checked out! read more
