We ordered the upside down Ahboong with the Ube pistachio swirl and it was the perfect combination of flavors!!! 3 of us shared one, along with a sesame taiyaki. We actually bought 2 taiyakis, but could only finish one. The sesame paste was yummy and nutty and the crust was thin, soft and chewy at the same time. It was the perfect after dinner treat! We've been to different locations and it was our first time here. The service was great and it's inside Ontario Mills mall so it's very convenient. After walking around the mall and it was way too warm in there, Somisomi caught my eye and I had to try it. The line was busy and wrapped around a corner but the wait wasn't too bad, we waited about 10 minutes to reach the self-order kiosk. There is no seating but there are a couple tables to stand next to and eat on. My husband and I both shared a matcha and strawberry swirl in a cup and also an upside down ahboong with ube and pink guava swirl. The upside down ahboong came with taiyaki and we chose matcha custard for the filling. It was so good and the taiyaki was warm and fluffy! The soft served ice cream flavors were unbelievably decadent but subtle. My favorites were the pink guava, ube, and strawberry. I did like the matcha but it overpowered the strawberry and the two flavors didn't fully work together as a swirl. The soft serve was creamy and airy. You could also get toppings as they several sweet toppings such as Oreos, fruity pebbles, etc. available. Will definitely have to get this sweet treat again whenever I'm at the mall again! read more

It's nice to have a Somisomi so close to home, instead of having to go to Fullerton. Being that it's in the Mills, it means that the place is a lot smaller than if it was in its own standalone place of business. There's only 2 high tables to stand at, otherwise you'll be walking around the mall eating your treats. We had several of their Ah-boong. They were pretty good. Love the combination of flavors for the soft serve. And it pairs well with the waffle fish. I also got some of their Taiyakis. Just a not the Taiyakis do not stay crunchy for too long. So keeping them in the box, in several hours they become limp and soft, like any hot waffle would in an enclosed container. Which definitely changes the taste of the Taiyaki. But a quick trip to the toaster oven crisps them right back up. All the different fillings added into the Taiyaki works really well with the waffle batter. Service here is quick. But keep in mind you are inside the mall. So it's mall type service. Which isn't bad, but isn't stellar as well. Overall, I'm glad they have a Somisomi here. Definitely will be bringing people here in the future to try their Ah-boong and Taiyakis!! read more

We were in Ontario to check out the mall. I saw pretty sign it says SomiSomi. Line wasn't long and it sounded like Korean brand so I had to support it ;) Service was fast and they played played K-Pop song which I liked. It was something unique. I honestly thought they would have added sweet red bean inside because of the fish shape like snack you would of had on winter time if your in Korea. Second surprise its a Cash-less establishment so No Card No SomiSomi. Its probably a safe one but until I heard the couple behind me wanted to confirm that there is no other way then order thru the station and no cash transactions. After the confirmation from the staff so the couple left after waiting in line for about 20 minutes. I felt so bad. I ordered the Matcha/Ube with upside down Ah-boong with nutella filling and its so good especially its 85 degree outside. Soft ice cream very soft, smooth and creamy. The staff were really friendly and efficient. He forgot to add the additional stuffing that we requested so he gave us an extra taiyaki for free. Somi Somi has the best soft serve and taiyaki I ever had Their soft serve is smooth and not really sweet. Yesss! I didn't get scammed this time. Last time I went to the Santa Anita Arcadia mall Somisomi and I got scammed. There was a giant hole in the middle of the ice cream. I love somisomi and used to drive all the way down to ktown in dtla to get it. Im glad they opened one up in San Bernardino. I was craving it and so I splurged on it and got myself the taiyakis as well. I saved the taiyakis for later. They weren't as crunchy later so I threw them in the air fryer and now they're crunchy again. Definitely recommend the air frying trick if you are thinking of eating them later. read more

Second, the person taking my order did not listen to me & kept insisting that i was ordering something else. I said soft serve in a cup & they kept saying i was gettung upside down SOMETHING. We took the Taiyaki's home for family and you can actually get them nice and crispy again, if you put them for a couple of minutes in the airfryer. Nice place inside of Ontario Mills mall. There's an area to self pay at the counter or wait in line for a cashier to take your order. There's also an area to wait while the goodies are being made. It takes about five minutes or a little less to get the taiyaki. If you've never had taiyaki, it's like a pancake made with rice flour. Rice flour is sticky and a little different consistency and texture compared to grain flour. The employees were nice and answered my questions, I will return. The only thing I didn't like was that I couldn't order just one taiyaki. My daughter didn't want one, she wanted soft serve so that left me with two (but I only wanted one). My cousin and I visited this location today and the experience was less than satisfactory. Right when we get to the front, we see a person is washing dishes. I feel the need to describe him because his attitude was unacceptable. He is an Asian man, on the thicker side, not too tall, short hair, wearing a mask, and has glasses. No name tag, probably because he has a nasty attitude and doesn't want to be held accountable. We believe he was alone, so we give him time to finish up with the dishes. About five minutes passes, and not once has he looked up to check on the front to see if any customers were there. I said excuse me about two times and he still did not acknowledge us standing ten feet away from him. He looked like he was wearing some sort of headphone, which I thought wasn't allowed in the food industry? When we finally catch his attention, I give him a smile to indicate we are ready to order and he does not meet me with the same attitude. The first words to come out of his mouth were "You could have ordered on the Kiosk." He stated this with the most attitude I've heard in a while and I work with children. It took me off guard and all I could do was laugh in astonishment because of the way he was approaching us. Yes, there was a Kiosk, but we wanted to ask questions about some of the flavors and have some human interaction that most ice cream places pride themselves on. I was then discouraged to even ask anything because his attitude was getting worse by the minute. He never said "Hello," and never spoke in full sentences, only "flavor" "filling," "topping?" While he was making the ice creams he was slamming down the lids of the extra toppings hard and couldn't even be bothered to push the ice creams towards my cousin and I, just sat it down all the way across the table and made us reach for it. I understand if this man was alone and overwhelmed, but SomiSomi you need to hire workers who can handle two tasks at one time, it wasn't even busy. The dishes can wait. Hopefully his day gets better and that he doesn't react that way when older people don't know how to use the Kiosk or have questions, goodness forbid. read more
