Upside Down Ahboong (Cookies n' Cream soft serve w/ a Nutella filled Taiyaki)

This spot is located inside the Ontario Mills mall. It's great to stop by if you are already shopping but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here since it's in a busy mall. Inside is quite small and there is no seating. I love getting their Upside Down Ahboong. It's their soft serve with a filled Taiyaki on top. Usually I always get the Ube flavored soft serve but this time I decided to try Cookies n' Cream with a Nutella filled Taiyaki. It was so creamy and delicious.

A cute little spot in Ontario Mills. I had the milk soft serve with matcha powder and it was delicious. It satisfied my sweet tooth after a long day of shopping. I've had the Ube Ahboong as well in the past and it's definitely one of my favorites. The service was friendly and welcoming. There was a bit of a line when I went but it moved fast.

Haven't been to this location but wanted to get a little treat while shopping at Ontario. Got the Early grey which was such a unique flavor and I loved it. Everything is so clean and they are quick with the orders. I always love the fact that they change their flavors consistently.

So yummy it's a nice little sweet treat while shopping at the mall. The inside is just rubbed with Nutella it's not filled so don't expect a big filling. Service is fast they have a tablet so you can order yourself. Once it's ready they ask you if you want any toppings. No seating but they have this high table to use which is convenient not much room in there to sit anyway so the table is a good touch.

This dude behind the counter closed up shop on us after making us wait for him. Do better, somisomi worker.
    Francis F.

Worker: "Hi, I'll be right with you in a few minutes." We wait patiently. Worker returns: "Sorry, we close in 3 minutes, and it takes about 5 minutes to make." ...make this make sense, disappointing somisomi guy.

    Waiting are for your order.

Delicious taiyaki and perfectly blended ice cream, good service, pleasant workers and ambiance is beautiful. The store is clean.

MUCH BETTER SERVICE! Shoutout to Kevin for his diligence and customer service skills. I HIGHLY recommend the Upside Down Ahboong, mine consisted of a Nutella Taiyaki (fish pastry) on top and coffee soft serve. I was craving a sweet treat and this one definitely made my day! I love the pancake-esque little fish, they're freshly baked and ooey-gooey. I arrived on a busy Saturday afternoon, the staff were working it! I got my Ahboong first, and waited 20 mins for the new batch of Taiyaki to be done. I enjoyed my soft serve inside the shop while waiting for the rest of my order. Overall, people were civil and calm. The food and experience were great!

I tried the milk and ube flavor this time and it was really good. The Taiyaki also tasted great, we got the limited time mint Oreo flavor and a red bean flavor. The service was really nice too.

The ice cream was incredibly delicious . The employees were friendly and patient with us. The place is clean and neat and is a great place to eat ice cream with friends and family.

After walking around the mall and it was way too warm in there, Somisomi caught my eye and I had to try it. The line was busy and wrapped around a corner but the wait wasn't too bad, we waited about 10 minutes to reach the self-order kiosk. There is no seating but there are a couple tables to stand next to and eat on. My husband and I both shared a matcha and strawberry swirl in a cup and also an upside down ahboong with ube and pink guava swirl. The upside down ahboong came with taiyaki and we chose matcha custard for the filling. It was so good and the taiyaki was warm and fluffy! The soft served ice cream flavors were unbelievably decadent but subtle. My favorites were the pink guava, ube, and strawberry. I did like the matcha but it overpowered the strawberry and the two flavors didn't fully work together as a swirl. The soft serve was creamy and airy. You could also get toppings as they several sweet toppings such as Oreos, fruity pebbles, etc. available. Will definitely have to get this sweet treat again whenever I'm at the mall again!

We come here for family time no matter the season -- when it's cold, when it's hot, anytime we want a good meal together. It's comfortable, reliable, and always hits the spot. If this place ever went out of business, I swear half of Chino Hills would shut down with it. That's how iconic it is.

I don't see her anymore. I can honestly say it is a complete 180 degrees! The service has been wonderful! This is our 3rd time since. Each time the food has been amazing and the service is consistently good to very good. The store is tucked away in a shopping center full of lil stores and restaurants. Parking is okay but there are some days you will need to drive around for a bit. Usually, there is at least a 30-45 minute wait to be seated, but we lucked out this chilly Monday night. Still crowded though! The restaurant is quaint. Nothing spectacular but clean. Seating is not too close to others. The service has been consistently good to very good. Friendly and quick. If you do need additional items, you will need to waive someone down. The food comes out hot and fresh! Seafood tofu: Sizzling hot. Great flavor. Nice amount of umami and spice. Filled with tofu. Wish there were a bit more seafood. At least clams. Galbi: Excellent balance of flavor! Not drenched in sauce and very tender. Would be great if the bed of onions were cooked a bit more! Great condiment with the rice. Japchae: Was a lil overcooked but tastes great. Wished there was more meat. Bibmibap is always a winner. Great texture and fresh tasting. Sauce has a perfect amount of kick and mixture of spice and sweet. Spicy cold noodle odke. Huge! Fresh veggies and the buckwheat noodles were cooked perfectly! Condiments and rice were spot on! So happy we came back.

Picked up a few items to go for lunch today and I was both surprised and disappointed at how bad the food was. The sullungtang was very greasy and the color was off, a dark brown. The beef was not trimmed properly, so half was just fat. To be frank, it was disgusting. There were bits and pieces of fat floating in the soup. The donkatsu went in the trash after a few bites. It was obviously reheated. The breading was more like that of a chicken tender and not that of donkatsu. The darkness of the outer cut portions (the pork) the katsu is obvious indication of reheating rather than fresh. I don't know if there is a new cook, new owner, or worst case they are serving subpar food from previous day. Maybe one or none of the above. This is one of the few times I've thrown away the majority of the food I purchased for take out from any restaurant. My background is in f&b and hospitality management so I would not give this type of review, especially to a small business unless there was a legitimate reason. While I respect the amount of work and dedication it takes to run a restaurant, there is a responsibility to provide customers with a quality product that aligns with the menu pricing. Beyond the product, ruining someone's lunch break is a sure fire way to lose an existing customer. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Tucked in a food court, there's plenty of seating and you order at the counter, and they bring out all of your food on a cart. We always get a medium beef tofu soup, galbi, and recently their bossam. The food is hearty and the soup is HOT, but it's pretty tasty. Galbi is a bit inconsistent, sometimes it's tender and has char marks, and other times it's chewy, but the flavor is nice. Their bossam is good, but comes out lukewarm and a bit underwhelming. Their salad though is super delicious, whatever vinagrette they use I wish I could have on hand all the time! Two tofu combos with their most expensive options rang out to around $75 with no drinks, which is definitely on the pricier side. We had leftovers, but this isn't a regular meal that you can go out for often. I'll continue to keep this spot close for when I'm craving tofu soup and purple rice nearby.

What stood out the most was the homemade taste. You could tell that they don't rely heavily on artificial seasonings.
