Seems kinda pointless. They should have considered a digital kiosk where you can order yourself. It just seems more efficient . The family and I went to The Ravine yesterday and on the way I saw the sign for Sonic. I was excited to try something I've never tried before even if it was just fast food and we decided to hit it up on our way home. Well we did and to say I was underwhelmed would be an understatement. If a dystopian future with zero human contact is what you want then come here otherwise skip it. There is no counter and no person in person to take your order instead you talk into a drive through type menu/speakermic with such lousy clarity both parties must repeat themselves repeatedly. I decided immediately not to do business with kind of business however my wife and kid were still interested and ordered pickle fries and a shake, they were out of pickle fries though so she canceled the order and we left. I've enjoyed Sonic since I was a kid. My wife and I went on a Tuesday evening just before closing and sat on the peaceful outside patio. Sonic's chili cheese fries set the bar for me. I also very much enjoyed the popcorn chicken. However this particular location stood out to us because of the attentive, friendly, and welcoming attitude of Johnny. He made the evening enjoyable and made great recommendations on menu items to try next time. We will definitely be back and hope to interact with Johnny again. read more

I am absolutely appalled by the treatment I received. Let me set the stage. Two people in the drive ups one person in the store sitting and eating and 4 cars in the drive through... I walk in and this guy who is having a hard time getting around, a larger man... didn't catch his name, walks by us as if we weren't even standing there. He walks past us two times after we pushed the service call button. Finally after almost 5 minutes of us standing there like morons, this large chap decided to come out and bark "NAME FOR THE ORDER" no hi how are you, no welcome to sonic... just "NAME FOR THE ORDER" so I go to order their new smash burger so I order the combo but I already had a bottle of water so I didn't need a drink... apparently that's a problem, if you order a combo "IT COMES WITH A DRINK" and I respond I don't need one, and he continues "IT COMES WITH A DRINK" so he then backs out the combo and charges me for a fry and the burger alone.... Not bad!!! We waited an hour, which isn't too bad. Food was great (hopefully it stays consistent over time). Good spot to go, especially now when it's recently open to kill some time and hang out in the car. **NOTE** those comments giving one / two stars are freaken ridiculous. Opened seven weeks ago - parking lot doesn't have enough space for drive up stalls and drive through - one blocks the other - burger/fries took thirty minutes at the stalls and arrived cold - the payment system on the order boards failed to take payment and the cashier had to go back into the business to complete payment - would not want to be here when its super busy. read more

The service here today when they weren't even busy was absolutely horrible and due to the service we will never be returning. Ordered a blast and a milk shake, both ice cream based. I asked for straws and spoon, I was given one of each. I looked at the girl and asked, if I could get another straw and spoon. She looked at me, rolled her eyes and said I already gave you one. I told hee I have 2 milkshakes. She gave me a straw. She walked away. I sat there in my car and then when she looked at me again, I asked if I could have another spoon. This location is a joke. They have a lobby that has one speaker to order through while the guy on the speaker is on the other side of the wall. He would pop his head around the corner because he couldn't hear the person. A line out the door and one person taking orders. After waiting over 20 mins my cherry limeade didn't taste right at all. It was not made correctly at all. the onion rings and mozzarella sticks were greasy and gross. Complete waste of money and time. The ambiance was ok but they need to fix a lot of things. Man I was so excited when I heard Sonic was coming to town, I just couldn't wait the food looks so good from the commercials and I just was excited to have some different fast food. That being said this is without a doubt the absolute worst fast food I've ever eaten in my life. My family and I went twice just to give it the benefit of the doubt we ordered almost everything on the menu, and almost nothing was edible, the burgers were terrible all the fried items were terrible, the French fries weren't awful and the shakes were decent, but anything with protein was either made from the worst ingredients possible or just prepared horribly, or more than likely both. There was a lot of employees trying their best to serve people well, but the layout and Logistics of the place is just so weird and makes absolutely no sense, it's completely uninviting ice cold environment doesn't make you want to eat food. Grew up in Kansas with Sonic everywhere. Loved their limeades because the limes were muddled in the bottom. Tried one here, $5.47 for a medium & it was a Sprite with a lime wedge! Really? Waited in line for 10 minutes, got to the place to get our order taken and was told they were "closing early". Worker was having random conversations with every car in front of us and refused our service when it was our turn. A worker had put out cones behind our car and another to stop more from coming in long after we had gotten in line. Very disappointing. read more

We stopped by the new Sonic in Atascadero, and were surprised to see that there was no humans in the lobby taking orders. We had to speak through a tinny speaker, and we couldn't hear the employee, and they couldn't hear us. Waited quite a while to even make an order. They made our order wrong, and gave us two measly napkins. There's no napkins or condiments available in the seating area. Food was expensive for fast food, and not good. This is our first, and last, visit to Sonic. Next time we will go across the street to In-N-Out, with excellent customer service, employees actually helping you, much better prices and food. read more

Eeek! The kid at the register was great but the food was absolutely awful. Bummer because we were hoping for so much more. The blasts and slushes were decent, however my husband's PB smoothie wasn't even mixed, just had PB at the bottom of the cup. I was really excited to hear there was a Sonic on the Central Coast, I worked at Sonic in Texas and San Diego as a teenager off and on for about 7 yrs, so I had certain expectations from what I know about the company and the food they serve. I ordered 2 Cherry Limeades ( their signature drink) , a Strawberry Shake, a Diet Cherry Coke and some Mozzarella sticks. I was a little surprised with the lack of drive-up spots but I also kinda knew it would be small due to the property they had chosen to purchase for this venture, I chose to use the drive thru to make my purchases, there were four cars in front of me and the line moved quickly@ 6 mins. (I've waited 45mins in the in-n-out line) . The server was polite. I received everything I asked for however, I was disappointed in the Cherry Limeades, since I have made thousands of these I know they are supposed to fill the cup 3/4 w/ ice then two squirts of Cherry syrup, sprite , squeeze two lime quarters and put them in the cup and two cherries. I received a Sprite with Cherry syrup no limes,no cherries and not enough ice. Sonic is famous for their drinks and someone either didn't train their staff correctly or they changed their recipe. I am going to wait a few more months and try again in hopes that this is just a lack of training. Do Better! read more
