After my last 2 experiences here, I'll gladly pile on to the sentiments of other reviewers here. They're habitually out of core menu items, car hops take forever, orders come out wrong and nobody cares. Last visit was the worst example. I paid for a breakfast burrito and some other stuff, car hop brings us a bag and rolls off. I discover no burrito in the bag, so I press the button. Like 5 minutes later I get an answer, ask about the missing burrito and the kid says "oh yeah, we're out of sausage." So basically if I didn't say anything, they were just going to take my money and ignore that part of my order? So I say I'll settle for the other kind of burrito and he says it'll be right out. Then got ignored for close to half an hour before I just left. Never again, this place sucks. read more

I spent the majority of my life living in The South where Sonic is just as common as finding a McDonald's or Burger King. For fast food, Sonic was always one of the better options as far as quality and variety, but this one in Peabody sucks. I have been multiple times now and my food always comes out cold. Cold burgers with chilled cheese are gross. The strawberry limeade, one of my favorite things about Sonic, is made with zero flavor and too much seltzer water at this location. Frankly it is all pretty gross. I don't know what their deal is and why they suck so bad considering fast food chains are known for having a universal taste, but somehow this one has managed to mess the whole thing up. read more

On my way up to Rockport I stopped here. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese and a cherry lime aid. It was early and it was empty so there was no line. My breakfast sandwich inedible, after one bite I could not eat it because all I could taste was gross off tasting oil. As hungry as I was it was below even fast food standards. When a bride and her entourage show up at Sonic at 11:30pm and you close at 2am, it seems like there's only one option---unless you're this Sonic location. Despite the posted closing time on the door being 2am they arbitrarily shut down at 11:58, leaving a line of people standing in the lobby, and at least 3 people having to fight for the orders they had already paid for. It was so easy to make the right decision in this case--but they still chose not to. read more

The last time I visited I had a kind of crappy experience. I ordered tots and the person who took the order didn't mention that there would be any kind of issue with it. When the person came out to deliver the food to our car, we noticed there were no tots in the bag. When we brought it up to her, instead of apologizing she says "Yeah, we ran out of tots for the day." Okay, number one it was barely lunchtime. They already ran out? Second...why didn't anyone tell us that when we ordered? So we said "But we ordered them, the person never told us you ran out." Her response is "Yeah, we did." No apology, no reaction to the fact that we just told her we ordered them. My boyfriend showed her the receipt and said "Did we get charged for tots?" (we clearly did) and her response was "yeah." We both just stared at her in bewilderment. Finally, she said "Well, I can get you something else instead." She brought us some fries about ten minutes later. I was bummed about the tots, but I was most upset about the way she handled it. If the person who took the order really didn't know then that's fine, I'm a pretty understanding person. I just would've liked some kind of respect or apology to the fact that we PAID for them. I'll probably still come back because I love Sonic, but my opinion of this location is pretty tainted after this visit. read more

After assessing the situation for 10 mins, watching the guys in their cars do "suspect activities"--ie smoking something--we quickly left without ordering. I have been to sonic in others states and have always had a good experience. This one on rte 1 is awful. Today was my third time there and also my last. Food came in a reasonable amount of time, but it was not mine. Left my car to go in and they gave me my proper order. I then watch as they delivered the return food to someone in dining area. Completely against the food code. I touched that food while i searched the bag for my food. Also the fries sucked and the toasted bread was not toasted. Sonic as a chain is not bad. Fun food for a once in a while change of pace. BUT THE SONIC IN PEABODY MA NEEDS TO CLOSE. It is an insult to the Sonic community. Tonight I spent 58 MINUTES IN THE DRIVE THRU LINE waiting to place and get a simple order. I have never witnessed a place so lacking in "sense of customer" in my 63 years on earth. It's like visiting a communist country. When you finally get to the window you clearly see the problem. This place is full of the biggest bunch of "I don't care" workers on earth. Downright awful. Stopped on my way to NH with my wife and 4 year old. The dining room was filthy. The bathroom disgusting. The staff ignored us for five solid minutes while we stood at the counter. Along with that they all looked like they were on parole from prison. The food was awful. Rubbery and soggy like everything was microwaved. No where near how they portray themselves on those TV ads. We threw most everything in the trash and fled for our lives. I wouldn't recommend a dog eat here. Stay away! read more

Who kicks out an entire bridal party and their friends/family without any warning two hours before the posted time on the door? I used to enjoy going here, but now the past 3 or so times I've come to this location, it's been terrible. I'm so torn when it comes to Sonic- the food is mediocre, merely microwaved crap however the drinks are fantastic. I love my cherry limeade, it's life changing I tell you! I've been to this location twice now (and since this is one of the only Sonics in NE, it's the only Sonic I've ever been to) my buddies and I trek up from Brookline and make a whole evening out of it, it's something we look forward to (twice now). The lines are impossible and terribly long but I love the charm of the drive up and rollerskating waiters and waitress' I think that's great. Went here a few weeks ago and I finally simmered down to even be able to write a review. I work at a restaurant and know not to expect much from a Sonic but this was just ridiculous. The first order - came out on time, but they messed up both burgers and made new ones. But that was okay with us. The second order - was just two master shakes, and we didn't get them for closer to an hour later. We rang 3 times and all 3 times we didn't get a direct answer to our question, whether we should cancel or it was coming soon. We FINALLY got them, just to find a hair in one. I let them know that if anything just to give me my money back because I will not be waiting another hour. The manager was not pleasant in any way. He looked like a kid that just wanted me to fuck off and said nothing except for "just wait here." He came back in just 2 minutes, with the wrong shake. I gave up and just took it terrible experience but I'll still give them 2 stars because I'm too nice. read more

I should start this review by saying we used the drive-thru, mainly because of all the horrible drive up reviews. I wanted a chocolate, Reese's PB sonic blast, well guess what, apparently sonic doesn't have chocolate ice cream; fine, so I ask for chocolate syrup and PB sauce. Well I got probably a squirt of chocolate sauce and no PB sauce. I don't feel like I asked for a difficult order.... And to boot, the girl waiting in us wiped her nose and didn't wash her hands!!! Wow... I don't know what to say other than my love affair with Sonic ended shortly after this sip (see profile photo). The shake was fairly decent but the food was aggressively bad. We have been to Sonic while traveling down south and remembered loving it, but what we ordered was so terrible that we actually threw most of it out -- which we never, ever do. Also, I totally fail to see the novelty in eating food in your car in a parking lot; the fact that your order is brought out by an underpaid teenager on roller skates does not make it feel cute/kitchy, nor does it change the fact that you are eating in the PARKING LOT of a fast food restaurant on Route 1 next to a hampton inn and down the street from the "Golden Banana" strip club. Usually I am willing to give things a second shot, but I would advise waiting until you are in a red state to get your Sonic fix... read more

I go to the drive thru and order a couple of breakfast burritos, a older gentleman took my order and money and told me it would be a few minutes. A couple of minutes later a hefty African American employee with long braids or dreadlocks comes to the window and asks who I am voting for, I told him my choice (which is none of his damn business) and he starts laying into me about how I should vote for trump. I don't need this insanity when I go get a breakfast burrito. I like the breakfast burritos at sonic but not enough to deal with this. I was so excited to try Sonic! I went in completely unbiased that it was going to be overrated. I knew I would be waiting in some kind of line line. As we drove up Rt. 1, I saw it, then didn't even see a line, I thought Yes! Then right when we turned in, the line started. Still it wasn't too bad, we waited about 25 minutes at 12:30pm on a Sat. I was with my bf who had never been either. When we had a chance to look at the menu, I figured since he was getting the burger I would try something else, so I got a popcorn chicken with honey mustard. With the burger combo it came with tater tots and a large drink. I thought the combo was pricey for almost $9. We were entertained by staff coming in and out on skates, some very precarious as they made there way to the cars. The drive through moved fast once we were close to the window. I was able to pay with a credit card machine outside the window. It was easy and fast. We received our food and were sent on our way, almost too fast. First notice was there were no napkins, so I had to wave the guy back down to open the window to give me some. Then we found a free parking spot to eat in. The "drive in" stalls were backed up for an hour wait so what we did of getting it at the window then parking some place else worked better. First impression was how bad the burger was put together. The patties were slid apart and cheese was all over the package. There was no mustard or mayo on it like we asked. My popcorn chicken looked good, then I noticed there was no sauce with it, like I ordered and no ketchup for the tots. I was like come on, no napkins, and now no sauce and the burger was a mess. I said OK, I am not going back in that line, I'll deal with the chicken like this. The chicken was salty, some pieces were so tiny they seemed like all breading. The tots were not great. They tasted fishy. The burger was bland. I had to take another bite at the end to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Just an overall disappointment on the food and lack of carefulness with putting it all together properly. The limeade however was very refreshing. When we got home my bf started having some stomach issues with the food. It was not good. If you are going to make the trip, check your bag that your order is right. It is fast food after all. Not sure I'll drive all the way up Rt. 1 for it again. If you really want to go, go for the drink but head next door to Wendy's for the burger. My friend and I paid $17.something for one sonic cheeseburger, one chicken sandwich on Texas toast, two onion ring sides, one lime slush, and one cherry lime soda. That's right. Over $17. And what did we get for that $17? A stomachache and agita. The burger patties were dryer than sandpaper and the chicken tasted like it was extracted from Stretch Armstrong's body. The onion rings were sub-par. At least we both liked our sodas/slushes, but they were nothing worth driving a long distance or waiting in line forever at a drive-thru window. They call this place "America's Drive-Thru". If this is the case, I feel bad for us Americans. Even though my friend from Oklahoma assured me Sonics in other places were better, I have evidence otherwise who threw their food out from a Sonic in CA because it was inedible. I'd say it's fast food at its near-poorest if not poorest. As you can tell, I say steer clear of this place and do the following depending on what you want: * If you want a burger, go anywhere else. I don't care where. Even McDonald's. * If you want a cherry-lime aid, go get a raspberry lime rickey or something of the like at Brigham's or Meletharb's in Wakefield. * If you want onion rings, go buy your own fry-alator. * If you want slush, go to Richie's in Everett. Does not live up to Sonic standards!! I have been to Sonic down south and fell in love. However, this one can't get it right. Screwed up my order BOTH times I went there! My french fries were barely cooked, soggy, and didn't even fill up the package it came in. My chicken bacon ranch sandwich was dry and had no bacon on it, and the presence of ranch dressing was questionable. The last time I went there, the fries sucked again, I got a coke instead of a Dr. Pepper, and got one large and one small popcorn chicken, when I asked for just one small. I would give zero stars but I'm forced to give them one. Store was out of lettuce, sliced cheese and bacon. Hot fudge shake barely had any fudge. I love sonic. Been to this location a few times and its usually pleasant. My review this time is mostly cause of the awful person who took our order. After everything I ordered he said 'yup' over and over again. Didn't ask what size we wanted our drinks so even though I made a point to say rt 44 we still got mediums. He also cut the mike before I could finish. The kid who delivered them was really awesome though. Went back and got the right sizes and didn't charge us anymore. And lastly when I went back inside to order something else we overheard half the store employees talking about how they were about to go smoke weed. Thanks so much to the kid who helped! Went to Sonic with my sister, and decided to wait in the car hop area, nobody came, after a few minutes a girl came over with a food order and asked us if this was our order, clearly it wasn't since we didn't order yet, she was confused as to who ordered the food and went back inside, went thru the drive thru, ordered a small coke instead of a meduim and the young girl at the window was rude about it, and they ran out of mustard, had no mustard in the whole place! and they serve hot dogs! food was okay, but for two small cokes, two hot dogs, one tater tots, and two ice cream shakes the bill came to $18.00. I doubt we will be coming back again, the staff they have now is incompetent. read more
