The fact that they opened the (currently) only Sonic location in Wasilla is mindboggling. The hour drive was essentially worth it to get to spend time with a friend, and to say we'd gone. We waited in line at the drive thru for an hour (there was no chance in hell we were getting a car port spot) and although that seems like a long time, based on how many people were there, it was actually remarkably quick. The food was pretty cheap, and the service was friendly enough. The main time service suffered was when they had the only guy running the drive thru also running food to the car ports, meaning he was just up and gone for 5 minutes at a time? instead of having someone fill in for him while he was gone, we literally sat and watched our food sit there in the window. The food was pretty good, if it's something you think you'll enjoy. Keep in mind its all pretty heavy. I doubt I'll be going back unless they open one that isn't a whole two hour drive there & back. read more

Forgot half the order. Gave me a dripping wet half spilled drink and was overly apologetic but didn't do anything about the fact that the bag of food was wet and the drink was soaking. I'm from Oklahoma, the home of Sonic so I was more than disappointed. Waited another 15 minutes for the remainder of the order which was wasn't much. Straw is as cracked. Had to wait again for straw. I've had better food at a gas station... we ordered a hot dog, chicken sandwich, tater tots and a lemonade for $19. It took 20 minutes with only one other person waiting and we received cold food. The sandwich had brown wilted lettuce and looked like someone smashed it with a hammer. Absolutely disgusting, over priced, horrible service, and food poisoning waiting to happen. You're better off eating at frozen chicken nuggets and Kraft cheese. read more

We waited in line for an hour, saw a stall was open and went to pull in and they closed the stall right as we pulled up. so instead of getting back into line we decided to go inside - note: there are zero signs on the doors stating lobby hours- so we walk inside and (there is a full lobby of people eating inside) the cashier says "the lobby closes at 10, we can't serve you" (it was 10:15 at this time). My friend calmly explains what happened and asks if she can just order and take it to go and both employees clearly weren't listening to her because one of them explained how ordering at a stall worked and the other said "well if it helps, the lobby closes at 10 and the drive thru is open until midnight". Honestly, if we hadn't driven in from Anchorage and waited so long in the drive thru we wouldn't be irritated by the clearly incompetent staff at this establishment. This entire situation could have been avoided by placing signs SOMEWHERE on the property stating hours and hiring intelligent people to run the restaurant. read more

Came at 8:30 p.m. on Friday night tonight. The line seemed short--right by the southwest corner of the building, but it took a whole hour to get food, with probably only 8 cars in the lane - 3 each side, and two in the back. And then the young lady taking orders at the drive-through intercom said combos could have mozzarella sticks or onion rings, fries, tots, or any other side, but said nothing about it being an upgrade or extra cost, as well as the Blast in place of the drink, but didn't mention it was 5 dollars more. We could have ordered the Blast separately for the same price, and gotten the sandwich without the combo at a far lower price, and not 14.99 for the 9.99 combo plus the $5 for the Blast. We even asked her if we could substitute any side, or the Blast or other drink, to which she responded "yes," but didn't offer that the substitutions would cost more, and how much more. Basically we got the onion rings for double the price as a la cart, and no discount off the Blast for not getting the standard drink in the combo. Then, it took an hour before we got our food. The meal was very overpriced, they never gave us our extra tater tots that we payed for (on receipt), and as we drove away, we discovered the fries, onion rings, and mozzarella sticks were all cold - like no heat left, and getting doughy / soggy. The chicken sandwich was so cold with soggy bread, that we had to throw the bread away. Maybe your food is hotter if you pull into one of the drive thru spots or ordered inside, but really not a good experience. read more

The food is decent for fast food, however, I'm not sure this could be considered fast. They are so SLOOOOOOW. I'm not sure why they are so slow, but wow. If you want a milkshake, it would save two hours to, hop on the ferry to Seattle, drive all the way to Vermont, decide on a creamery, order, pay, pick up, drive all the back across the US, hop on the ferry, and drive home. Also, whoever is in charge of ordering for them is terrible, they are out of things quite often. read more

We just came in for the first time because we love going to Sonics in the states. While we were in line they had botched the order of another customer. When the order was remade the manager handed the order to one of the kids working the already busy front counter while customers waited instead of personally taking the food to the patron who was 6 feet away and apologizing for the mistake. The drinks were good but they were out of ketchup, and the dining room tables were all dirty. The floor looked like it hadn't been swept all day and we waited over a half hour for stuff that DQ would make for you in 5 minutes. On the way out "all" the trash cans were full and trash was overflowing. My kids left hoping things get better as we hope to chaulk this up as poor management of a new store. Otherwise, we'll wait until we travel out of state to eat at Sonics. read more

I understand that they just opened I do but there are so many issues that they need to work out it's crazy. The time it took to order was great, super fast and the cashier was friendly. But after that it all went downhill. We had to wait for 40 minutes for 5 items and then they brought out the wrong order. What right items we did receive were good but for a 40 minute wait and two right items not worth it. I'll come back when it's calmed down a bit. read more

Unbelievably slow. Make sure you have at least an hour to dedicate to your drive thru wait. Ridiculous.

This is hands down the WORST fast food place in Alaska. There were four (4) cars ahead of me in the drive thru. It took 45!! Minutes to get to the window and pay for my food. To make matters better one of the cars in front of me left before getting to the window (so it could have been worse!) if I could, I'd give 0/100 stars. Surprised that the restaurant hasn't been shut down for being so slow and lazy. Not even an apology for the wait...... read more

Minerva was so nice and awesome and so was a boy they called "Avatar". We drove from Anchorage to eat here and the service was good and it was worth the wait. The two cracked jokes with us and made sure our food was fresh. We asked for sauces and they surprised us with their favorites!! read more

I will start by saying I love sonic. We stopped in around 1145 on a Sunday on our way back to Fairbanks. Super stoked for a cherry limeade! The drive up booths were full and the drive through line was about 25 cars deep. So we decided to go inside. Terrible idea. Terrible amount of seating, and the service took forever. Been sitting here for 45 minutes now and still nothing. Also watching others get their food and about half of the orders seem to be incorrect or missing things. Good idea to open a sonic, but maybe need more staff and definitely need more efficient service. read more

Waited in the drive-thru for over 45 minutes and finally got up to the kiosk to order and a Sonic employee came out and let us know that all orders were being put on hold because they were so behind and it would be at least another 30 minutes! Still just the slowest place on earth. Took over 1 hour to get 3 drinks and 1 kids meal. Literally an hour for 3 drinks and 1 kids meal. I would not pay them until you get your food. If you go to the stalls and pay before you get your food, they will let you sit there until you ak for a refund, then tell you your order will be out in 2 minutes. Then 15 minutes later you'll be so mad that you'll hop inside and ask the manager about it only to see him scramble in back to finally get your order made because you literally have been waiting 1 hour for 3 drinks and 1 kids meal that is disgusting. We're from the south and love Sonic, but we've been here three times now and never been in and out under an hour. If you go in, the tables and floor are dirty and the food takes forever. Most times we were able to order very quickly and then waited for 60 minutes or longer. Not acceptable for fast food. Very disappointing. read more

Tbh the burgers are just meh. Definitely not anywhere close to Texas but I have hope that will improve. The milkshakes are fantastic and cheaper than anywhere else in the valley. And the slushies are all the hype made them to be! The servers don't really use rollerblades and that kinda sucks. read more

While there was a 1/2 hour wait that is not bad for a new business. we ate inside the building as the stalls and the drive thru were packed. We ordered a hamburger and grill cheese to go with our milkshake and slushes. The guy taking our order could have been a little nicer but he was the only one take orders and was busy. Three times we have tried to come to Sonic from Anchorage. Each time we were turned away after waiting for 40+ minutes in our car due to it the fridge being broken, mass amount of people with the long wait time, or they were closing. This last time, we waited in the drive thru for over 40 minutes and watched as all the teenagers who were working were playing with the other teenagers in the cars. As our car approached the building, the rude young employee yelled at us that they were closed. She did not say it nicely nor apologize for us waiting for so long. There were only a few more cars behind us that could have easily been served. This is not good business practice. We will not be making the effort to visit again anytime soon. We love Sonic in the lower 48. read more

It was very slow and in professional. We arrived with no other cars in line but the food still took about 20 minutes for it to be ready. We ordered two croissant breakfast sandwich and a bacon stacker sandwich and it even showed on the receipt but even after that wait they didn't give us the bacon stacker at all and gave us an extra breakfast croissant. They also failed to put any meat products on the breakfast croissants that are supposed to have bacon or sausage Besides one. Another thing is that the two breakfast croissants were supposed to come with tater tots as a combo meal and this didn't come with it. One last thing is that when we went back around the store the employee fixing our sandwiches opened them in front Of us and just put sausage on the sandwiches on the check out window counter and handed it back to us. Very unsanitary and they were not at all thinking about Covid while they were doing this order. 1/10 do not recommend. read more

My faith in Sonic WAsilla has been crushed today. I counted a good 30 to car deliveries by servers with no gloves today. Where my faith was truly lost was when I witnessed with my wife & kids a young woman walking uncovered ice cream cone through the wind blowing snow and dust, holding the chocolate dipped ice cream portion with bare hands. As I got to the drive though, the same girl went right to the food stations and began making blends with no gloves. In fact the only person wearing gloves was the drive through window checker. My heart sank to see this world in a global pandemic and no one but the teller cared enough about humanity to wear gloves and protect the hundreds of families that cane through and put their trust in Sonic as safe place to buy food. I love next door to Jeremy who is in charge of food and safety for the state. I really feel like o need to report this as crime against humanity. I'm coming to you here and now instead of the public as so many people feel they should. read more
