Disappointed with the chopped beef brisket. Used to be much leaner. Majority of my plate was fat, not much meat to be honest. However, the chopped bbq chicken is excellent, probably the best thing they offer on the menu. Tender, juicy, lots of flavor. Highly recommend it read more

Not bad! Wanted something new for dinner and ordered picked up last Saturday. The sliced pork was nice and soft, and BBQ sauce was great. The food was ready earlier than my pick up time which was awesome, however they get a 4 star rating as they forgot my garlic and corn bread. I got the family meal deal for 4 and it is supposed to come with the breads. Will probably be back. read more

Found this place by accident, but it was good food. Went to the drive thru and got the lunch portion of ribs, Mac n cheese, and coleslaw!!!

This is a very unhealthy place to eat ripped seats and fatty foods. Picky eaters beware with very short menu and dark climate.

Sonny's is a barbeque franchise started in Gainesville, Florida by Sonny Tillman. This outpost is not as good as other outposts in the chain and the quality of their food is declining. Last time in was in the area and had a hankering for BBQ I stopped by for the lunch special, of a sandwich, one side, and a drink which runs around $6.95, to go healthy I upgraded the side item to a side salad for a $1.00 up-charge. The salad was surprisingly good, a mix of Romaine and field greens and absolutely no iceberg ( I despise iceberg lettuce ). The pulled pork sandwich was a disappointment. First, it looked nothing like the sandwich in the menu and was perhaps half the thickness of the sandwich pictured in the menu. Second, the pulled pork was marginally better than sloppy joe pork out of a can. For Barbecue in this part of the Space Coast, the Charlie and Jakes Wickham location is much better. The Ribs and chicken dishes at this location are better choices than the pulled pork. The food at the Sonny's location in Cocoa Beach is better than at this location. read more

This chain BBQ is really good. You always know what you can expect, and it is never a let down. Standard selection, but the quality and prices are great. You can't go wrong with the all-you-can-eat salad bar. It's a great place for a quiet casual dinner, or hanging out with friends that enjoy good food. read more

Ate at Sonny's today for the second time. The first time at this location was a couple months ago. I now remember why I haven't been back for a couple months. The food was mostly good (my lean brisket was actually pretty fatty). The restaurant was less than 50% filled but the wait staff seemed overtasked and service was very slow. My brisket sandwich was very skimpy on the meat as was my son's pulled pork sandwich. Overall Sonny's is overpriced for what you get. I don't plan on going back again any time soon. read more

Good service, tasty ribs and a nice looking clean salad bar. We had a nice dining experience and then left, went in the drive they and ordered some food to go (we forgot about someone who asked for us to bring something until we got outside lol) so a quick trip in the drive they and no one was the wiser. This was pretty good barbecue considering we weren't in a traditionally BBQ-centric area. I enjoyed my smoked turkey, and they serve it dry so you can experiment with the few different sauces that are on the table. I wound up mixing the mild and the sweet to get my preferred taste. The ribs looked pretty good, though I'm not a big rib guy. I wish they'd offer a two-meat combo plate where you could pick the two you want to try, but unless I missed that, they only seemed to have individual meats or the giant combo platter that serves several people. Looking at the menu as I write this, though, I see a few pre-made combos such as chicken/pork or shrimp/ribs, so I guess half credit. The sides, as at most cue places, were mixed - the slaw was pretty ordinary and the mac and cheese and crinkle fries were fine, though I did like the cornbread quite a bit. The Brunswick stew was interesting, like a thick chili, but a bit sweet for some reason. I'm wondering if that's a family recipe or maybe just how they do it in this part of the country. In sum, certainly not bad at all, but just not quite hitting the spot for me. read more

Being from Texas, I have high expectations for BBQ. I was not disappointed here. The generous portions and price make this place a good place to return to when I am back in town. The all you can eat offers are reasonably priced. I did come a little late on this occasion, so the rib portion on my combo plate was not as tender as I expected, but still tasty (probably a re-fire). I enjoyed the selection of sauces at the table. Delicious ribs. Love the choice of sauces at the table and all the sides that come with your meal. Babyback ribs were the best choice. They could be hotter though. The salad bar looks well stocked and fresh each time we went (3 times). But who can get that when you have ribs? Next time I may try the chicken. Only downside: it's too bright in there, turn the lights down a bit so we can relax. read more

We cannot believe these reviews, the meat portions, and quality has collapsed. You should see the parking lot on a Friday afternoon. This Sonnys has hit the skids, and the last time, we took one mouthful and almost accidentally spit it out on the waitress. I think this one needs new management. The manager could not be bothered to discuss it, and neither will Sonnys corporate. Shame, this one has tanked read more

Great servers, especially Shellie, the many times we've had her she's been attentive and kind. Will continue to come here on a weekly basis. Ordered Brisket, Sausage both by weight, and a side of Broccoli. I ordered lean brisket and received it about 30% fat that I had to remove. Lost 30% of my value there. Sausage was very good! Broccoli was covered in a bar b q rub. Maybe that's Florida style to hide the fact you are eating something green, but I just wanted steamed broccoli. Service was slow, but friendly.
