I looooove their salad bar! I like that I can come here and my friends can get there meat fix while I get my vegetable fix. In the past 15 years I have been to Sonny's BBQ .., 3 times (including today's visit) Let me start with the good .... Our server was geart!!! Let's move on to the Bad and the Ugly; it felt like i walked back into the 80's all so old and oh so "draby" we ordered the Sonny's sampler with the original baked beans, slaw,garlic bread and an extra side of the new hot sausage and we also ordered the ribs ,wings and hot sausage plater with cornbread ,beans and fries.Boy oh boy.... slaw was bearly dressed and bland,beans had a strong metal taste, ribs were dry oh so dry and Hey I am all about the smoke but , man if I didn't know any better It felt like gallons of liquid smoke went into making this meal, We have never seen such Itty-bitty , tiny,small wings in our lifes and the chicken was sooo dry god oh mighty!!!!! , brisket was okish and if you want hard dry sausage Sonny's is the place be. Sonny's is a good value and I think somewhat underrated. Not a fan of their ribs, but their pulled pork is very good, and their beef brisket is excellent. And you can get all you can eat for less than what a platter would cost at other restaurants. Their decor could also use an upgrade, but I can overlook that given the value that they provide. Sonnys invited us back after a negative experience. This time the waitress was super friendly and polite and our order was correct. I asked the waitress which meat with be "least dry", and she recommended the bbq chicken. It was pretty good. Still had a few dry spots on the outside, but it was much better than our last experience. read more

This is hands-down the best location I've ever been to. Not only is the staff attentive to all of your needs there is hardly ever any wait time between asking for something and receiving it. Today Sam was our server and I have to say that he went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. While the franchises as a whole is always a safe bet for a nice meal, this location surpasses all the others in Central Florida. If you're ever in ask for Sam, Lily or Devon! read more

The food was overpriced and gross. Avoid this place if you do not like grease.

Food was bland. Had the pulled pork and it seems like it was cooked in a crock pot, very little smoked pork flavor. Fries obviously from the freezer bag. The place is filthy, and I don't mean just dust. First time there and that was one time too many. read more

I've been eating at Sonny's for 25 years and a big fan. However, my experience today was terrible. Started with cold fries. Asked for new ones, they were warmer but under cooked and pasty. The ribs were bony and not much meat and the wings dried out. read more

Love their Ribs, but there all you can eat requires a little more attention. About three times now that I have gotten their all you can eat ribs the second helping is smaller, dried out with less meat on the ribs. Looks like the are giving you the meat that has sat for a while. The same happened with my boyfriends second helping of pulled pork. It was dry and had lots of grit to it. Otherwise, service has always been good. I do agree with others, cleanliness could be better but not overly bad. read more

Just picked up takeout. The lady who took my money was RUDE. That is the last time I will ever order takeout from them again. The food is a bit overpriced but combine that with RUDE staff...nope I will go to Kellers or Four Rivers next time. We ordered rib dinners with a half pound of turkey and a half pound of brisket. The ribs were pretty much charcoal. I like char but it was inedible on the end pieces. The brisket was yummy but was served in thick slabs instead of slices which was odd. My husband & I were just passing thru on a Sunday evening and this restaurant was the closest to our motel. We come from Western Kentucky - the supposed BBQ Capitol of the world. Our most famous BBQ place is The Moon-lite Bar-B-Que in Owensboro KY. This restaurant was ever bit as tasty and they had a better selection of sauces than the one in Owensboro. (Our favorite sauce was the Sweet Bar-B-Que.) My husband got the all-you-can-eat chicken with Slaw & BBQ Beans. He loved the muffins that were served with his food. He said the chicken was pretty good, the slaw was really good, and the BBQ beans were fair. (The only thing that was all you can eat was the chicken & muffins.) I got the Grilled Chicken Ranch Salad - it was delicious!! I put a little more of the Sweet Bar-B-Que sauce on it to sweeten it up a bit and to offset some of the ranch dressing. Our soft-drinks were HUGE - didn't need a refill!!! Prices were reasonable - about 1/2 the price of The Moon-lite!! (In all fairness, The Moon-lite is a BBQ variety & Vegetable BUFFET.) Over-all... We would highly recommend Sonny's BBQ close to the Orlando-Sanford Airport. If we are ever back in that area, we will definitely be eating there again!! read more

Ate here about 5 times. If you just like cheap bbq then this is probably a 3 star place. You will be satisfied on what you got for what you spent. All the normal fare...... pulled pork, bbq chicken, ribs, all the fixin sides, etc. The reason I give two stars is, that like most Sonny's, it is dark and dungy and gives a sense of being dirty. Service is hit and miss at this location. You may not see your server once you get your order. The ribs are not good (in comparison to other local bbq establishments). I would also stay away from the 'salad bar' and any desserts. And the sides are a hit and miss. The beans are super sweet even for baked beans. Overall dissapointed and have moved on to other places like 4 rivers. That said if you have a family of four and looking for quantity/quality bbq pulled pork, etc for a low/reasonable cost.... you may want to check it out. read more

I like the Sonny's francise as a whole and they have good food. However this one is sub par to the others by far. The staff in general is nice, how ever the atmosphere is very dated and muggy. This location has been in need of a serious makeover for some time and has a dirty 70's feel. The place always feels humid and dark with all the windows drawn shut. The food is Ok but seems like it isn't on the same quality level as the other Sonny's chains. This location also is one of the only locations I've been two that only offers a small togo drink size while all the other locations offer a large size. Sonny's BBQ is normally my first choice for a place to eat out, unless this location is the only option available. read more

The Donny's in Apopa is always good. This location is hit or miss. Always worth a try if you're craving BBQ tho.

Really 2 1/2 stars as it was okay. The service is quick and the BBQ Sauce selection is good, but the food is average.

I wish I could give this location zero stars. I'm not a fan of Sonny's anyway, but I was going along with friend's just for the company and was going to order something small. The only thing I enjoy from Sonny's is their Brunswick stew, that I normally get from a different location, and on a side note, it is always steaming hot even when I get it home from picking it up togo. That was not the case when I ordered a cup today at lunch. My Brunswick stew was hardly luke warm, our server never checked on the 6 of us, I had to go up to the front to ask for a box and our checks, when we cashed out I was last and asked our server if someone had told her what happened, she informed me the manager had comp-ed it but no apology or anything. I might have understood had it been busy but there were hardly 5 tables in the whole establishment. Everyone else at the table's food was alright nothing spectacular, service was a joke, if you find yourself here by accident try the redneck egg rolls or whatever they're called, the only thing Sonny's has going for them. read more
