I stay at the Doubletree in Norwalk regularly for work. The Sonoma Grill is useful as a meeting place for breakfast or happy hour. They claim to do room service but a couple of calls have never resulted in that successfully happening. We've been told that we have to go downstairs and then wait for them to call us... or something equally confusing. Anyway, if you want to eat there, don't count on them bringing it to you. Breakfast is a buffet, which is not terrible. It's got all of the expected things and it's fast. They have a happy hour at the bar from 5-7 every day. It's a comfy place and I enjoyed hanging out and watching Monday Night Football with my staff. The sliders weren't bad, the chicken satay is pretty good and the Sonoma wings are the best of the apps. Wine, beer and selected cocktails are $6, which you really can't beat. The bartender was very nice (a Jersey guy!) and gives a generous pour and great advice about the menu. This does manage to make staying in Norwalk a bit more tenable. I love a good happy hour! And this one is pretty good. read more

So really wanted to eat something else but because we were staying there decided to give it a try. It was pretty empty, though I didn't let that detour me. Our server was nice, but my first drink from the bar came out with a black 6in strand of hair in it, that I was shocked arrived at the table. It was long and dark black I saw it as it was being placed on the table. Our server picked it back up as I immediately let him know and he examined it and said he didn't see anything. My husband was floored and took a fork a picked the hair up like a noodle, then he goes ah I see. This was disappointing. Mistakes happen, but don't act like you can't see what's wrong here. I usually eat Salmon everywhere, but I opted for the fried chicken sandwich which was really good. I had to have them make another one I feel like the chicken was undercooked the first time, maybe rushed it out to me. Which didn't seem necessary since they weren't busy. However, once received cooked thoroughly it was very good. My husband's salmon had a really strong fish odor, which I thought was unusual (again I literally eat salmon everywhere). I might eat here again just for the chicken sandwich but only if I was staying there and was too exhausted to go anywhere else. Wouldn't recommend. read more

We're staying here at the DoubleTree inn and decided to get some dinner after arriving from the airport. We came at about 7pm and they were still open, not busy( there were only about 2 other tables there when we arrived). Service was good and pretty fast. We were in and out and under 1 hour (just my other half and I). I got the southwest Salad with chicken and wow the chicken was so good! I really enjoyed my salad (about $15 + chicken $8 so $23~ for my salad). My boyfriend had gotten the chicken sandwhich and that was super good too! Fries were delicious. We both enjoyed our meal after a super long day. Didn't get to try the wine or alcohol, but maybe later in our trip. read more

I was a little skeptical about trying this place out since my past experiences with restaurants in chain hotels have been a hit and miss. With that being said, I was pleasantly surprised this place was pretty good. The decor of the restaurant was nice, your typical hotel grill vibe. The food was good, I had the avocado toast which had a great twist to it. Lucky for me it, had two of my favorites mixed in one! Avocado toast with the ingredients of caprese on top. The only thing I would change is it definitely needed more avocado. You can never have too much avocado! I also had the chicken cobb salad, the grilled chicken had just the right amount of seasoning. I made my way to Norwalk one night, for a business meeting and because I didn't want to be sitting in traffic forever, I made it a point to arrive early, and just grab a bite before the meeting. It's how I ended up at Sonoma Grill. Lots of parking. This restaurant is part of the Double Tree hotel. Just walk in and it's on the right. No separate entrance unless I happened to miss it. I ended up sitting at the bar, because the dining area looked to be closed. It was pretty slow - only four others at the bar eating and drinking there too. I didn't mind. Sports on the tube for me to keep myself entertained. Bartender/server rattled off some suggestions for both food and drink. He was pretty attentive and friendly and had a heavy pour, which I appreciated. The food - well, it's not his fault as he's not the cook but it was not as spicy as the menu claimed. The hostess was condescending when informing the Asian tour guests "We need ticket before eat!" ?!? She also did a good job of segregating the Asian vs. Hispanic guests in the dining room. She came by our table asking where we were from?!? The jokers running the circus were ghetto at best. There was a fly hanging out inside the ham for the omelet station. I tried to inform the "cook" and he assumed that I wanted a ham omelet ?!? I've been wanting to try Sonoma Grill for years. It is definitely a one time only restaurant for me. I ordered a burger cooked medium. It was overcooked to the point that it dry and crunchy, and the bun was stale. We also ordered the salmon which was overcooked and not edible. Came here for brunch and just can't explain how disappointed I was with the service, the buffet and the cleanliness. My son even said the pancakes did not taste good. After eating here several times I had to leave a review. The breakfast buffet is good, custom made omlets along with pre made French toast, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and potatoes with peppers and onions. There is also fresh fruit and cerial options Along with all you can drink juces. The dining options are good although the limits of the menu may put some off. There is a nice bar and during the week the happy hour specials are awesome, $3 margaritas and drafts, 1/2 price appetizers and friendly staff make for a great visit! read more

I ordered the rainbow salad...seriously, it was 2 small beets cut in half and maybe 1 small head of cauliflower cut into 3 pieces. A few small carrots and micro greens. Im a foodie, and if something is a small serving but is powerful in taste, im all for it....this was small and all i could taste was the pickling of the cauliflower and carrots. I also got a grilled cheese sandwich that was horrible. It was cold, the cheese wasnt melted so i sent it back so they coukd put some heat on it. I came here for two reasons: I had a Restaurant.com coupon good for $25 off two entrees, and it was close to work. They have an early bird special between 5-7 p.m. where you can get a 3-course prix fix from $15-18. They give you a basket of bread/butter to get you started. I got the salad, which was nicer than I had expected, and my friend got the soup, which tasted too salty and prob came from a can. The salmon entree was pretty good (didn't have that fishy taste) and the angel hair was not bad either (non-meat). The waiter brought the dessert out a bit too early as we hadn't even finished our entrees, but other than that, the two waitstaff were great. Dessert was not too good. The flan had a weird aftertaste and the brownie + ice cream tasted like it came straight from the freezer. The bill came to under $9 (not including tip), so I can't complain too much about our meal! The place was also pretty dead, though the small bar area was pretty full. They also have happy hour on M, W, and F, but all you get is $1 off drinks. Boo. This restaurant is a good option if you're looking to meet a quick time window and looking for a spot between OC and LA. I had a customer in Orange and an Engineer in Chatsworth -- we met here. The location's great because it is just off the 5 fwy. The entire hotel and restaurant has been recently remodeled. The food was quite good for lunch. Nothing to write home about, but good. Just for the record, I don't think 3 stars is a bad review. I really like this place. Its right off the 5 freeway. How much more of a convenience is there?! I normally meet up with friends for Happy Hour. All well drinks are $3.00 (they have a great well selection) and the beer is well priced (not much of a beer drinker). On Tues and Thurs they have sushi rolls (not super authentic, but satisfies the craving) on special and all other days the bar menu is 1/2 off. The garlic fries are yum. I know my favorite bartender is on maternity leave right now, but is due back in 2 months. I forget her name, but man can she pour a drink!!! It's clean, the fellow bar patrons are friendly and most of all its relaxing. People actually step outside to use the phone. I really like it here. read more

Ate at the restaurant twice during our stay last week because our suite came with a free appetizer and non-alcoholic drink , and two complimentary breakfast buffets. For the happy hour visit we ordered tater tot nachos and bought buffalo wings. Delicious especially the tater tot nachos!! Service was slooow... there was barely anybody in the restaurant and server didn't check up on us too much. For breakfast the next day , everything was great! Loved the breakfast choices with the pancakes bacon, eggs, sausage, pastries,potatoes and peppers, omelet station and more. Morning hostess and servers were incredibly friendly and attentive. The hotel itself was decent. Only complaint that I have on the property itself was a slow Wi-Fi. Overall a great experience at the hotel and restaurant. We will be back! read more

Two waiters on duty do not get along. Even though restaurant it is empty they seem over whelmed. Waiters busing tables and serving good at the same moment dirty dishes in one hand my meal in the other. They are gone for long periods, suspect they are watching the playoffs.
