Rainbow roll, everything is so fresh!

So glad soons is finally back! Ordered over the phone with soon and her husband. Amazing experience, anticipated a longer wait, she called with our order being done early. Let me tell you, worth the wait!

Chirashi. Pretty, but so underwhelming. I've had better sushi at a food court. I had better sushi at an airport in the 90's.

Um...no. I ate here once, about 10 years ago and it was horrible. But... I've continued to hear people talk about it being good, so I finally went back today. Um...no. I got a simple Chirashi Bowl and Grilled Squid app. First, the Grilled Squid was served with a bowl of spicy mayo. I've never seen that before. Just spicy mayo...to dip...? Ok..... Then the Chirashi arrived. Chirashi is a very simple dish of what should be their top grade sashimi, over rice. Whole it arrived in a cute little box, the fish itself varied from boring to tasteless, to "tastes of bleach." Really, only the Salmon was decent. I don't understand fish that doesn't taste like anything at all, and I really don't like bleached fish. Between the two dishes, I have to soak it all in so much soy sauce, that I think my tongue is now pickled for life. Um...no.

left to right: spicy crab, spicy scallop (seaweed outside), sweet potato roll

I love Soons! I've been coming here for years. Best sushi in town & Soon is always so sweet and happy to greet her customers

Gluten free sushi closest, bread crumb rolls near the top!

Soon's is a hidden treasure in Kenosha. If you want fresh, excellent quality sushi Soon's is a great option. I usually go to Milwaukee for Screaming Tuna but recently have found their options to be lacking flavor. While Soon's has expensive rolls, I was able to get three awesome rolls for under 20 dollars - and they were large! I usually can eat 3 or 4 and had to stop after 2. I am a celiac but the waitress was able to help me. They do not have gluten free soy sauce but I brought my own. No shame. It is a small place and some of the staff don't speak English fluently but that was part of the charm and I appreciated Soon's more. Some of the reviews I read docked 2 stars for the atmosphere. If you want awesome sushi and more high class comfort - get it to go. I understand wanting more of a luxurious experience but Soon's is authentic and genuine. I highly recommend!

    Beef bibimbap.

My boyfriend and I love coming to Soon's! At first we were unsure since it's a tiny little corner place, but now we're in love. Ever since we moved to Racine, we have made sure to come here regularly even though it's a bit of a drive for us. All of our friends recommended it! Their sushi is excellent, but we come for the bibimbap. The staff is always super nice and attentive.

    boat full of sushi!

Their lunch offerings is spectacular and they do not skimp out. Especially the boxes. I typically "roll" with the 3 roll social. I ordered 2 of the yam rolls and 1 shrimp/asparagus roll. The special comes with miso soup and salad. Let's start with the soup, it came in at the perfect temperature. It had tofu and the broth was seasoned well. The crispy lettuce was covered with the Japanese dressing which was nice and bright, it was well balanced with rice vinegar and ginger. On to the Shrimp / Asparagus Roll. The asparagus was fresh and crisp. The shrimp was tender. The sushi rice was fluffy. The size of the roll is decent for lunch. Next the sweet potato rolls are my favorite, the tempura battered yams provided a nice crunch with every bite. I like this place but only have been here for lunch. Like I mentioned, we go here to celebrate a team member moving on to their next chapter. Good food, good service, good conversations with great people make this place special.

She found this place, I wanted to go to Sticky Rice. We however went here. And here I am a good $30 less in my wallet by going here over any other restaurant in Downtown Racine. No sushi for a Japanese restaurant. Gives you a good idea of whether anything is authentic. Mandatory 20% added to your bill for gratuity means you get awful service where all they do is take your order, drop it off, & fill your water with all ice. They have no incentive to provide good service since the gratuity is already added. Food selection is below average. Prices are what you'd expect in San Francisco but the food is quality of something half the price at a fast food place. Meals do come with Miso Soup (cup is half filled) & a half cup of salad drenched in dressing. $26 for Teriyaki Chicken & Fried Rice. $32 for Salmon Teriyaki & Fried Rice 80% of the menu for dinners are $32 or more. I have been to every place nearby & you can get two dinners for the price of one at Shogun. They have literally 8 waiters & waitresses so they're mostly just standing there doing nothing. Interior is cool but you're paying a premium for the people sitting at the grill area even if you aren't sitting there. The food was maybe just okay. They really skimp out on the chicken meals. Chicken was easily previously frozen chunks. Seems like other reviews are right that the establishment acts very bitter for anybody that doesn't order the $40 or higher meal. My wife got Salmon & I swear she got more Salmon than I got chicken. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! Been to at least 15 Racine area restaurants & this is the only one I have gone to where it is really bad. It is a place that people want to act like high rollers go to but the food is poor.

It's been several years since our previous visit, and the only thing that ever seems to change here is the prices. The over-the-top (but dated) elegance, a commanding view of Lake Michigan, doting service, and well-prepared classics remain exactly as we remember. We made our reservations online and were seated promptly upon arrival. The cocktails are expertly mixed and generous in size (the Missus and I are Bloody Mary types). The days of a "free" relish tray are no more, but we ordered one as our app ($13) and the plentiful portion was more than enough for our party of 4. A basket of freshly-baked rolls accompanied by a thick slab of melty butter arrived next. Entrée prices include a choice of soup or salad and a side dish. Their baked French onion soup rivals most pub versions and the house-made salad dressings are exceptional. For my entrée, I could not resist ordering that old school supper club classic, Chicken Oscar. My dining companions went with chopped steak and chicken parmigiana. Everything was superb and the portions were so generous that we boxed up half to take home. For dessert, we wanted something a bit lighter than their caloric classics. Although not on the menu, the kitchen gladly doled out 1-scoop ice cream sundaes (they can also prepare a gold brick sundae). The staff will not rush you. Plan on spending an entire evening here, soaking up the nostalgia. Don't miss the bar with its spectacular view of the lake. The retro Hobnob experience and Wisconsin's lower gas prices are a great incentive for us Illinoisans to dine here more often!
