ONE STOP SALON. Gina (viet name: Giao) does it ALL. I'm usually very skeptical when someone claims they can do it all. You know the saying..."a jack of all trades; master of none.!" BUT, my sister in law (who referred me) assured me that I was in good hands. And she was RIGHT. Gina trained @ Carlton Hair - so I felt a bit more comfortable knowing she had notable references. *SALON itself is clean and well lit. Many work stations, but Gina is the only stylist/artist in the store. *LOCATION: kinda hidden. Drive slowly down Newport Blvd, so you do not miss it. --she reserved a few parking spots for her customers *Call to make an appt Gina is very sweet. When I arrived she asked to go put on a robe. Robes were folded nicely in a basket and clean. It was comforting to know that she doesn't use the same robe for all her customers. Bathroom: clean! She's not nosy and sneaky like some of the other salons I've been to. She didn't try to persuade me too much to do this and that. AND.....she spoke English to me the whole time, not questioning my ethnicity and trying to speak Viet to me. When I voluntarily told her I was Viet, she did speak Viet on/off to me, but I welcomed it. Another PLUS that often goes unnoticed is: TV was set on an English channel. ONE TIP: Gina, maybe put something on TV other than the news. It's too stressful to watch all the chaos that is going on in the world while we are being pampered. HAIRCUT($45): includes wash, cut and blowdry/styling afterwards. I was pleased with my haircut. I told her I wanted to keep the length, but get rid of the dead split ends. Plus, I wanted to keep my layers. She did JUST that! Product of my hair was bouncy and healthy. I was happy. EYEBROW/LIP WAX ($10/$6): I wanted to make sure she used good quality product so that my skin doesn't break out. She assured me that her product is for sensitive skin. PLUS, she puts on some chalk like product before she waxed to help reduce the redness. One day later and I am NOT red as a TOMATO. And....my brows were shaped to match my face. Nothing too dramatic. Just the way I like it. Simple and clean :) UPDATE: about 5-7 days after my wax, I broke out a bit. Like I said, my skin is very sensitive and only the most sensitive products will prevent my break-outs. FYI to other super sensitive clients out there :) *** I really like her because she is FAST, EFFICIENT and does a GREAT JOB. Trust me, you will not feel rushed! I felt very comfortable & at ease; even happier that I didn't have to spend 2 hours (only 1hr) of my day to get all this done. WINNER :) read more

I stopped here because we were staying in a hotel near by while visiting for a wedding. I decided to get a mani/pedi the day of the wedding, and called to see if there was an opening that they could fit me into. Gina was very nice, and fit me in so that it worked for my schedule. She did a very nice job and was friendly and professional. I would be coming here often if I lived in the area. I would recommend this place to anyone who is in the area. If I was planning on a cut I would feel comfortable going there as well. She just put me at ease, you could tell that she takes pride in her business and her work. I get my hair cut and nails done here every time I come to visit my family in the area. This salon is my first stop to visit after I get off the plane! Gina is professional and personal. Because I am from NJ, Gina always find the time to fit me in even if she has to come in early or stay a little later. She always listen to what I want done but will make suggestion to make it look better. I always come in looking disheveled leaving looking beautiful! The price is very reasonable for the service provided. I usually get my hair done in NYC and pays so much more! :( Plenty of parking in the plaza. The salon is very clean and has nice decor. There are always plenty of up-to-date magazine to read while waiting. I can't wait for my next visit to CA for my hair cut and nails! read more

I started seeing Gina in 2010. I forgot what I first came to see her for, a haircut or a manicure, but she is fantastic at both. She has, cut, highlighted, colored, curled, styled, and blown out my hair, all with BEAUTIFUL results. She has also given me a mani, pedi, and silk mani. Again, she is really really really good at everything. Since she opened her shop, I see that she has become a lot busier, which is a testament to her talent and customer service. She is a genuinely friendly person and an exceptional stylist. I moved pretty far away, but I plan on getting a beautiful blow out next time I'm nearby. I miss you, Gina!! read more

I've followed Giao (Gina) before she even opened up her own salon. I've only had my hair colored and cut from her. She is super nice, and remembers exactly what she did to your hair the last time you were there. She will never try to rip you off or upsell you on any products.
