Regular omakase

We came here to celebrate a birthday and had an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. Before we even sat down, one of the sushi chefs noticed us and warmly greeted us, inviting our party of three to sit at the sushi bar. It was a Saturday just before Christmas, the restaurant was packed, and we were thrilled to get seats right in front of the chefs. While looking over the menu, Chef Yan offered to send out an appetizer. I told him I trusted him and asked to be surprised--and he completely delivered. The appetizer was amazing and set the tone for the rest of the meal. I then told Chef Yan that I wanted to try all the omakase options on the menu. He handled everything with professionalism and great pacing, starting us with the regular omakase, followed by the fatty omakase, which was absolutely superb. The halibut fin was insane--OMG. He then brought out the omakase rolls, which were just as impressive. Still wanting more, we ordered the Cabo roll and the Lollipop roll, and once again, everything was outstanding. Chef Yan truly made the entire experience feel special and memorable. To top it all off, after our meal the servers surprised us with a small dessert for the birthday celebrant, and all the sushi chefs came together to sing. It was such a thoughtful and fun touch. Truly a great experience all around. Highly recommend this place--we'll definitely be back.

Went here on a last minute decision the day after Valentine's Day since my wife was craving sushi. We waited for a bit over an hour for a seat at the bar. It was 1000% worth it. The rolls were amazing and the staff was very friendly. Although it was busy they showed effort and apologized each time they felt the time between check ins was too long. My favorite roll was the yellow submarine and the omakase roll. A small unassuming sushi place that is packed with goodness. Officially my favorite sushi spot.

Nigiri sampler and spicy salmon avocado roll

I wanted to love this place because I'd heard great things and it's close to our house, but it just didn't do it for me. Nothing was spectacular. My favorite dish was probably the crispy rice with spicy salmon. The nigiri was also pretty good but the carpaccio and rolls were not enjoyable.

This is a great place... u can reasonably get in on busy nights (one of the reasons I come) and it's reasonably priced. Theres a place on the pennisula I prefer but it's double or triple the price and it's a 2 hour ordeal at min. I feel like this is a great neighborhood spot... My Go to's Oyster: Uni shooters (we love these!) Soft Shell Crab (sooo good ) 5pc Omakase Chardonnay Lychee Martini Good wine selection basic but good enough Love the staff and chefs everyone is great here!

Soooooo good! Haven't had anything here that I don't like. Staff is so cool and friendly and helpful.had the wavy skipjack, needlefish, live scallop, bluefin tuna, spicy yellowtail on crispy rice, Cabo roll and a few others and they all were delicious! Came in on a Saturday night right when they opened and couldn't believe there was already a bunch of people waiting to get in! Yeah, that good!

Sooo I'll be honest, my friend and I actually tried to go to Sugarfish but the wait was 3 hours!! So my friend told me about Sota and said it was just down the street so we walked over and I'm actually really glad we went here instead. Sota definitely has more of a traditional sushi vibe and the sushi chefs were all so nice and attentive. I feel like we ordered everything off the menu lol the food is amazing! Sota is a must try and I can't wait to come back

Chef Sota is a master at his craft. Each piece of nigiri was a work of art with fresh and creative flavor bombs. Can't wait to go back!

We ordered two dishes, shrimp tacos and fisherman's deluxe platter. The shrimp tacos had 3 very small shrimp each with a lot of cabbage to make them appear bigger. It did not feel like it was worth the price tag of $21 (added avocado). We paid $2 to add avocado, seemed like a value until the food came out and it was one slice of avocado on each taco. The fisherman's platter had a small protein portion. We ordered the cod and oysters raw/grilled instead of fried as they come on the menu. Overall, it was a convenient stop and better than bar food, however, we would not return based on the first experience. Street parking or paid parking lot, ADA accessible although the hallway to the restroom is a bit tight for a wheel chair and seating space is compact.

We got a back room which seemed more private even though there were probably 10 tables in total. We started with the Michele Chiarlo "Nivole" Moscato. If you want a super sweet sparkling light white whine get this. I always ask for the sweetest drink and this was perfect for me (I will be searching for this bottle in stores) and the Admire by Dan Kosta red wine. Not sweet at all but fruity flavors. We started with the complimentary semi sweet house rolls, flaky warm and moist inside with butter. We got the wood roasted Spanish octopus which was to die for. The flavors tomatoes potatoes and octopus was cooked to perfection. Perfect amount of salt and spice with the most perfect tender octopus tentacles We always order for the table to share: Lobster rolls, sweet corn crème brûlée, grass fed ny strip (medium rare 12oz), and roasted Mediterranean branzino sea bass 10oz. *Both Served on 500degree plates to keep things warm, hence a medium rare steak* Everything was delicious. The lobster rolls were perfect and it seemed like we got 2-3 normal sized rolls combined for the price of one $39. Usually one roll elsewhere cost $28-$36 so I was shocked with the amount of fresh lobster was on that appetizer. The sweet corn crème brûlée was phenomenal. A wonderful side to pair with the salty entrees and lobster. The steak was 7/10 nothing special and I believe it should've been sliced a little thinner but the flavor was good. The branzino bass melted in your mouth. It was buttery and cooked to perfection. Good portion as well. We finished the night with their triple layer key lime pie. It had a fresh graham cracker crust and whipped cream with light strawberry puree painted on the plate. Not too sweet at all it was perfect; we had to take it home after being full from everything. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back. The ambience food and service was recognizable. Their wine list is also a shock and liked by many.

I picked up some spot prawns at $45/lb, 4 pieces ran me about $25 but those were so fresh I would get them again. I also picked up scallops. I did expect them to be fresh but they were completely frozen so I am not sure when they harvested them and the scallops themselves were a tad on the smaller side, at about $33 for a 17oz bag that seemed a bit steep. Most of their fish range from $32-35 per pound and their Mexican white shrimp were $25/lb. I do very much plan to come back but this would not be a frequent stop for me

We arrived a little after 7:30pm on Thursday 7/23, and were greeted by nobody. So we waited...and waited. And waited some more before walking to the bar and asking if we were supposed to seat ourselves. The friendly bartender that night told us that there, in fact, was a hostess, but she was probably seating another party. When she finally arrived some time later, she made no attempt to greet us, apologize for the delay, or even smile. Not even a simple "Hi." The first words out of her mouth were an annoyed "How many?" I told her 3, and then she proceeded to inform us that they were no longer seating walk-ins for the night. There was a slightly awkward silence as I did a quick glance at all the empty 4-seater booths around the restaurant. Why ask how many in our party if you are no longer seating walk-in customers? She then told us that we could try to find seats at the bar, which we proceeded to do, passing by 2 empty tables on the way. By this time, more than 10 minutes had passed since we stepped foot in the restaurant and stood there waiting by ourselves at the front. We proceeded to sit at the bar, and only after getting our menus, asking questions about dishes, and placing our orders with the bartender, were we informed that our 13 year-old son could not actually sit at the bar. We told him that the hostess directed us there, and he allowed us to have one of the open tables next to the bar. And so we moved to the table--the same empty table that I had glanced at after the hostess had told us there were no more seats available for the night, the same table that we had passed on the way to the bar. The rest of the dinner was uneventful, the food was decent, and our server and bartender ended up being extremely kind, attentive, and friendly. Here's the thing that everyone knows though: first impressions matter, and ignoring us and then shuffling us around like second-class citizens made us feel unwelcome and made us question if we were being treated differently because we looked different than the rest of the guests. It sucks to be excited for a restaurant, then have to think about questions like that during dinner. We still left a 20% tip on the $200+ dinner because the waitstaff was hard-working and great, and also took this as an opportunity to remind our young teenage son the importance of treating everyone with kindness and respect in every social interaction, and in all that we do. Disappointed is the only way I can describe our experience, and the food, unfortunately, could not make up for that. We will not be returning.
