And the fried tomAtoes were perfection! Perfectly crispy and hot! The remoulade sauce is also really really good! I am writing this one in unison with the other two Memphis locations. It is hard for me to believe that I have never once written a review for this place at any of the locations! I am fixing that right now! I really like Soul Fish Café! We have been going here for years and years and have always had a very good experience both with the atmosphere and the level of service given. I have never had anything less than a great visit and have always left pleased with whole process beginning to end. I have not seen a difference in any of the locations as far as food quality is concerned. It seems to me to be very consistent among the brand, I may be lucky, I don't know. The Catfish is always hot, crispy, and fresh. If you choose it Blackened be ready because they make it Blackened for sure! The Blackened Trout is what I am stuck on lately. It is so good! I love trout and they do it superbly! The Hush Puppies are to die for! The wings are fire, really try some, they have a very interesting spice to them! Shrimp are big and plump and always seem to be cooked masterfully when grilled or fried. Fresh hand cut Fries!!! Awesome Veggies, they have like 15-20 choices of vegetable sides every day! Tartar Sauce is really good! Do not forget the Pecan Pie or the Cakes! I am trying to remember it all but I am sure that I am missing quite a few things to rave about. Oh! Beer! How could I forget that? They have a great selection of local beers here too! Price is a little on the "high side" on some items but the consistency in the food and service always makes it totally worth it to me. I do wish that all of the meals came with two side dishes instead of only one for the money. If this were the case I would be marching around the building with a "Five Star Flag"! Here is a pro tip... Get the Soul Fish Platter for the best value in the whole place. $14.75 is all you pay for Catfish, Shrimp, Crawfish, Hushpuppies, and a side. This was yet another first time experience for me. I heard good things about this restaurant and decided to eat here on a whim. Our server, Lauren, was VERY kind and attentive. The best part about my experience was actually the service I received. The food was good, but not worth the price point. I had the catfish basket and my boyfriend had the blackened catfish. When we finally received our food, I noticed how "burnt" the fish looked on my boyfriend's plate. Apparently, it's just the seasoning? If you look at other photos of blackened catfish here, you'd see the obvious difference. The one my boyfriend had looked completely black. He said he could barely taste the catfish. :( My food was a lot better though. The fries were slightly lukewarm, but at least my catfish was done right. Thank goodness. Again, service was the best part about my experience at Soul Fish. Hopefully on my next visit, they'll cook the food properly. :) I wanna try their desserts soon! read more

Today, I had the blackened salmon which was more than blackened; it was burnt. I get blackened salmon wherever I go so this was a disappointment. The greens and Mac n cheese were very good! I visited Soul Fish this past Sunday and what a treat it was. The service was excellent. The place was packed however we were seated in less than 15 minutes. Even more important, they were showing the NCAA basketball tournament so I didn't miss one second of the Wichita state vs Kentucky game. :) The food was absolutely delicious. I practically ate off of everyone's plate at my table so I had a great sample of just how good their food was overall. I had the soul fish platter which came with fried catfish, fried shrimp, fried crawfish, and my choice of side was the macaroni and cheese. Others had the blackened catfish, the baked sweet potato, and the appetizer hot wings. Everything I tasted was phenomenal. It also comes with hugh puppies and a side (I got cucumber salad; it reminds me of my mother). The food was good, and so were the prices and portions. Overall, it was a good meal. However, my friend said his chicken was very dry. Another friend ordered the pickled fried green tomatoes. She wasn't sure about them, and asked for a recommendation. I ordered to go and I ordered the catfish basket 2 piece and my husband ordered the 2 piece blacked catfish - I don't understand why they both read in the description that they are both catfish filets - one is fried while the other one is blackened - the basket is really more like a catfish finger (like a chicken finger) they were both small while my husband's has two large catfish filets - if you aren't going to be serving the same portions - don't give them the same description - I've taken out from here several times and each time I seem to get more and more disappointed read more

We went this past Saturday for lunch, 4 adults, 3 high school students, 1 middle school student, and 1 elementary school student. very unpleasant experience in this soul fish restaurant during their ID check. they dont even know what is a EAD card and said only driver liscence and passport can be accepted. It's fine if they have never seen it before so we tried to explain EAD card is US goverment issued official working ID, but unfortunately they wont believe it and ended with arrogant and impatient attitude. we feel like expericned a criminal check and being discrimibated by holding an international ID. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed my meal. The portion size was good. As for service, the restaurant wasn't full, and the service was on the slower side. This is by far my favorite place to come and get catfish. I always get the thin and crispy extra crispy and with Mac and cheese and fried okra. I had not visited this location in several months. I guess you can blame it on Covid but the food brought out had been re-dipped in grease and was old. The quality of my whole catfish was a disaster. I sent it back and they came out with more old fish. It must be sitting under a warmer and ready to serve. The manager did try to give me a meal and I refused.
