I went here for the first time today to this new restaurant. It is so hard to find good, real sourdough bread in Phoenix. I've found it here! I had delicious clam chowder in a bread bowl. The chowder was creamy and luscious and seasoned perfectly. There was a lot of clam flavor. The bread was warm and soft on the inside and the crust was crispy and slightly chewy, just like in California. They have a very good strain of sourdough starter. A nice guy came to our table and made sure we were happy with our food. The service was fast and good. Lot's of good stuff on the menu. Came in to get a sandwich on Monday $12.49 plus 4.25 to make it a Combo it seriously lacked meat, what a ripoff!!! It was like literally eating a sourdough bread by itself, to the owner I've read the wonderful reviews, really the reason why I stopped in, had I not been on a business lunch, I would have voiced my disappointment to the two employees working. I like the Southwest salad. I haven't tried anything else but I have been here multiple times. My coworkers liked the food. The service is always good, would like the kids to be a bit more familiar with the items. The place always has people sitting down eating. The sandwiches here are so good. They do not skimp on the meat. Flavor is out of this world. I think bread is baked there it is so fresh. Cookies are great as well. I had the salad too and I really enjoyed them as well. I haven't had anything here I didn't like. read more

A bit lack luster. I read fellow reviews and was excited to try. I feel like I could have gotten a better sandwich from Subway and that is sad. I was really looking forward to some good sourdough but it was mild at best. I was very disappointed in the service we received. We usually come for dinner and are always happy with the service and food we get, but decided to come for lunch and wish we hadn't. The man helping us was rude and his poor attitude was not at all what I expect from this store. The consistently good food is the only reason I'm not giving a 1 star. Great sandwich shop! I feel like this place is well organized and less crazed than chain stores. It had a home like feel and was clean and the employees were kind. Like I remember things being before. Had pastrami Reuben, french dip, and turky garlic pesto. We all really enjoyed our meals and felt satisfied and full. Mayonnaise sandwich. The turkey pesto doesn't actually have pesto on it. It has a pesto aioli. That's unnecessarily disappointing. Pesto is already a sauce. The only reason to mix it with mayonnaise is to reduce the use of an expensive ingredient. Then they ask you if you want mayonnaise on your sandwich. Light mayonnaise doesn't make a whole lot of sense when a main ingredient of your meal is already mayonnaise. Anyway, I don't love mayonnaise and this was pretty gross. read more

I was craving a pastrami sandwich so I chose this place since it is new. Wanted to try it. The sandwich had great flavor but the meat and toppings to bread ratio was a little disappointing. The meat was not evenly distributed... some of my bites didn't even have pastrami in it. They could have put a little more lettuce and spread. The spread soaked into the bread so it was hard to tell It had any on it. The bread was delicious and fresh. Good quality pastrami meat. Good flavor. Will I get it again? Probably not. If I do I will ask them to spread the meat on evenly. They didn't seem busy but they took long to make the order. I think one order was ahead of mine. They have good pickles and a friendly staff. I would like to go back for the clam chowder and maybe one more try at another sandwich. The establishment was clean and that's always plus. My meal was to go and I didn't open up my sandwich until we got to the park to eat it, otherwise I would have spoken to the manager... most people don't inspect their to go orders (opening up sandwiches ti make sure they are made correctly) - I just makes sure everything was in the bag before leaving. read more

To start, the sourdough bread is good. However, I was craving a Reuben for the last few weeks so I decided to order an 8 inch Reuben and clam chowder in a sourdough bowl. To have it delivered, it was a little over $40. The sandwich as I recall it was 15.99. The bread bowl for the clam chowder was fantastic, but they don't give you enough clam chowder. It is the equivalent to about a cup or less of soup. Taste is very good. The low stars are because it was the worst Reuben I have ever had, very little meat, very little flavor, very little, sauerkraut, very little sauce. Just overall very lackluster. If they up their game on portion control, it may help. read more

This is my go-to sandwich spot. I usually order in app since I'm usually in a rush to get back home. I gave them 5 stars but my only gripe is that the bread can get kinda soggy if you get anything wet like oil and vinegar on it. My suggestion is that they offer 3 different versions of the bread (oven fresh (very soft) same day (firm) next day (hard bun) I'm from San Francisco and most of the sandwich shops sell hard buns the flavor seems a lil more intense as well when it's next day. The hard bun can hold the wet sauces etc without the bread getting soggy. Don't get it twisted I still eat the whole 6" every time lol it's a no when it comes to sharing. The food and staff are super cool and the ambiance (music and cleanliness of the shop) is why I keep coming back. read more

I had higher expectations. The food is rather pricey for what you get. The bread bowl is tiny, and had maybe a cup of soup in it. The clam chowder tasted good, but had some crunchy things in it that felt like eating sand. Not enjoyable. Better off going somewhere else. read more

We walked in had to stand there for 10 minutes because there was only one employee (out of the three there) that was authorized to take orders and he was not available. We were the only customers in the restaurant at the time. Finally he appeared and we gave our order of 2-6"sandwich combos with chips and drinks. After waiting another 27minutes, the food was finally delivered. When I politely inquired about the delay, she merely stated that they had messed up the Sourdough bread and had to remake it again. No apology at all. I had the Pastrami Reuben. Really good and freshly baked Sourdough bread, but not sure it will again be that fresh under normal circumstances. Pastrami was okay and tender. Very underportioned though vs. the picture of the sandwich they provided. Russian dressing was very tasteless and flat flavored, and dominated by the (mustard on a Reuben?). Hmmm. Confusing. Stopped by yesterday for the first time and order a turkey sandwich. Every bite of that sandwich was delicious lol I ate a whole 6" sub sandwich plus the pickle! The pickle was amazing I also got a cookie everything was great I'll definitely be coming back here on a regular customer service was amazing everyone working made me feel so great to be spend my money there they all came from the back to greet and build my sandwich ! I was very disappointed today when I stop for a sandwich on my way to work and I waited almost 20 mins for two sandwiches while the staff was just having conversations. I wasn't the only one that waited for a long time. I notice other customers where upset waiting. Came looking for a tasty sandwich and got just what I was asking for ! The sourdough is mild not a super duper sour and fresh bread has a chew to it which wasn't bad nice and toasty. I went with the Cracked black pepper turkey with bacon. They don't skimp on bacon was a bite of bacon every bite nice and smoky. The 8 inch was $10.99 for sub plus bacon was an extra $1.25 plus tax it was a huge sandwich. I also got a side of the broccoli cheddar soup wasn't really a fan was watery and not much flavor I'm not a salt guy and had to add salt and some pepper and dill to it for it to pop.
