We were so disappointed with our visit! Service was terrible...the brunette that was our server never brought any of the additional items we ask for! AND never came around to check on us! Catfish was not fresh, had an unpleasant taste. We never received a bill. Finally, We got up and went to the register. After waiting there, we finally summoned someone. Amazing gluten free food and lots of it! I ordered the blackened mahi mahi with red beans and rice along with green beans. Tons of food and delicious. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about gluten allergies. I loved my food. Server was super sweet and kept our drinks filled. My partner's 10 ounce rib eye seemed small to him and had a bit too much gristle. He did enjoy the taste of his steak, though. As a side note people in the restaurant were not practicing enough social distancing for my comfort zone so we chose to eat outside. We were the only ones in the outside patio and thoroughly enjoyed the intimate atmosphere. We only get here once per year for a Project in Webster, FL and this morning's Breakfast did not disappoint...from the Praline Coffee, Blueberry Pecan Pancakes, Bacon Biscuit, Cheese Grits, Eggs/Pancake (not all for me y'all-had 2 guys with me;-). We were in town for a conference and found this place. The owner and staff are all very pleasant, just good southern hospitality. We sat outside in the patio area, which was a very nice vibe. The menu is a homage to Louisiana favorites like Boudin, Red Beans & Rich, Po Boy sandwiches, fried green tomatoes, Beignets, Gumbo and such. All prepared lovingly and with authenticity seldom seen outside the bayou. There is a touch of the Florida gulf here as well with local fresh catch prepared as fine as any fish camp can. Southern Harmony café is truly southern through and through. The owner comes from Louisiana and everything about this restaurant from the creole music, to the menu is inspired by Louisiana. If you come for breakfast you must get the Hot Mess Po'Boy. I swear to you you have never tasted anything so good. This breakfast sandwich comes on white bun with eggs, lots of meat, cheese, and the most amazing sauce you've ever had. I can't even describe all the flavors but there's a warm, smokey flavor and is perfectly balanced with the home made sauce they drizzle on it. This is unique and you will NOT be disappointed! We also had the Bourbon Pecan pancakes. The owner makes her own pecan batter as well as bourbon-pecan flavored syrup. It's not overly sugary really like you would have at IHOP but truly authentic and wonderful. I'm so glad I found this quaint, truly country southern breakfast restaurant. A bit pricey but worth it! We stopped in on a Tuesday afternoon and they were fairly busy. The service was great and the waitress were attentive and knew the menu which helps with indecisiveness. I had the debris fries with gator nuggets which were outstanding. The fries are topped with pot roast gravy with pan drippings and he gator nuggets are deep fried and crispy. They're served with a creole & horseradish aoli sauce that's the perfect touch. My boyfriend had a burger that was topped with shaved ribeye and grilled peppers and onions. Get it the exact way it comes. It's outstanding! The sweet potato fries were a 75 cent up charge but they were very good and worth it. Overall our bill was nearly $40 then tip but if you're looking for a fantastic southern dish -- GO HERE! In the area from PINELLAS county. Always like to try new mom and pop restaurant instead of chains. There were people waiting outside so thought for sure this would be a great place. We arrived at 10:30a on Sunday. Waited about 15 minutes for a table. Our server was great. Seemed very stressed as it looked like she was handling all the tables. First thing she told us was they were out of all potatoes. No hashbrowns or home fries. Ok....no skillet for me.... Husband ordered steak and eggs. Steak was very thin and full of grizzle. My grits were cold and dry. This restaurant is in a very rural area so I am sure it has a lot of loyal local customers. I hope this was just a bad day... This is one of places that you always want to find but didnt think existed. This is a family run restaurant and the staff really knows how to be polite and provide great service without smothering you. The food is amazing too! This little gem is amazing. I have eaten breakfast, lunch, and had catering services from SHC. The staff are very friendly and hard working. For breakfast we have had eggs, meats, huge biscuits so flaky and soft they just melt in your mouth, and perfect sausage gravy to top them off. We have also enjoyed beignets that taste like heaven. The biscuit breakfast sandwich, while tasting fabulous, was a little hard to pick up because the biscuit was so flaky. I had to use a fork, oh darn! For lunch the burger was cooked to perfection being juicy and tender with just the right amount of pink. The sandwiches have all been pleasing, as well. Accompanying both we had French fries. They were light a crispy, just like I enjoy them. The seating is limited but I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes. They turn the tables over fast. All in all, I highly recommend this eating establishment. read more
