Dried out Red Beans & Rice - Bowl
    Mandi W.

I stopped here on the way home from a funeral. Sadly I tried to like this place because of all the great reviews. I know they're short staffed here, which is why I gave it more than 2 stars. I got the Red Beans and Rice and it was so dry it tasted like refried beans and sticky rice. My son ordered a grouper sandwich, and it was dry and they're supposed to be known for their fish. My daughter ordered gator bites with mashed potatoes and her gator bites were so small and tough, she didn't even finish the plate and it was $16.99 or something like that for it. Such a shame, because I know they're supposedly decent, but it just wasn't good.

Great homey atmosphere and super friendly staff. The food was really good but haven't tried the gumbo yet because I'm full.

    Nachos!!! Try them!!

You have got to eat here!!! If you don't, you will be missing out! This wonderful restaurant is worth the detour from ... wherever you are, really. We were traveling on I-75, and we are so glad we took the 5 minute detour. We arrived around 1100 on a Sunday, and waited about 15 minutes. Walking to our table, we passed patrons who were devouring biscuits and gravy, eggs, and chicken. It all looked so good!! We received both breakfast and lunch menus. Both menus were a mix of traditional American food and Louisiana Cajun food. (Keep in mind Cajun is very flavorful, and not necessarily spicy). It was so difficult to decide what to eat, because everything sounded so good!! I will be back to try something else. :) I was interested in the Nachos. And they were delicious!!! The base of these nachos were an extremely flavorful Cajun type potato chip. They were loaded with cheese, shredded roast beef, mushrooms, onion, green peppers, banana peppers, and covered in their beautiful Debris Gravy. I was surprised at how much meat there was! It had to be close to a pound. The gravy is the most flavorful thing I've ever tasted. My Dining Partner got a HUGE salad with a fried chicken breast. Their homemade Ranch dressing was incredible. The chicken was extremely moist and the breading was crunchy. She loved the freshness of the salad, and all of the vegetables that came as part of it. We also got a side of Fries with Debris Gravy, and she, too, was overwhelmed with how good the gravy was. If you are in the area, meaning within 60 miles, you should not miss out!! I wish everyone would be able to taste this menu!! It is sooooo good!!! Please, do yourself a favor, and eat here. IT IS WORTH IT!!! You can thank me later!!! :)

    Shrimp & grits my favorite!

By far my favorite hometown family run cafe. The Florida Cracker meets with the Louisiana Gumbo, Boudin, Jambalaya, Andouille, Po' boy, Beignets and so much more. Freshly cooked daily by the Rogers family. Breakfast & Lunches that are plentiful, fresh, hot and always consistent. Don't be in a rush, there are times you have to wait for a table either inside or out on the covered patio with fans.

I am so happy that I found this place. Talk about a diamond in the rough or finding the needle in the haystack! I so love Yelp for amazing finds such as this one. From the moment I walked in I knew I was going to love this family, local restaurant. I could feel the love and joy emanating from the kitchen. Everyone had a story, they all knew each other just awesome. So I sit down and everything on the menu sounds so tasty. I asked the waitress to surprise me and get me something. She did great. She got me the Gator quesadilla with onion rings. Can I just say "wow" from every bite I took. The Roumalade sauce and the Cajun spices where on point. It had just enough cajon with southern flare that my taste buds where dancing with joy but not running because of the heat. The gator tasted outstanding and the mix of the boudin with cheese like come on was it good. I also took to go a gator and shrimp PO boy to my pastor and he eat the entire thing and said that's the best poboy I've had. I'm telling you it was all extremely satisfying.

Saw this place on the map while looking for brunch on the way out of Tampa and so glad we stopped here! We were seated outside which was slightly enclosed with heaters to keep it warm but the wind still made it a bit chilly so bring layers. The menu was almost overwhelming with the number of options, all of which looked delicious. We ended up with a burger and the dirty bird with rice and gravy. We were both very happy with our orders and the prices were very reasonable. For dessert, we split a slice of the wrec pie which might have been the best part of the meal (other than the dirty bird fried chicken). Service was a bit slow and there is only one bathroom for everyone so there was a lot of waiting around but other than that, we left very happy.

This place is awesome. Can't wait to come back. The food is great and the service is even better!

Great! Great! Great! Do yourself a favor and come on down. The service by itself is worth more than they charge. The food is amazing. The smell of the place makes my mouth water!

I tried the chicken smothered in cheese, onions, mushrooms and their dirty gravy - so tender and delish!

I had a recently "returned" item to their menu: the "hamburger steak." I paired it with hash brown casserole and fried okra as my two sides. The meat puck was cooked a bit more rare than the medium that I requested. Garlic sauce atop it was quite tasty and the meat itself had a good char on it. Sides were adequate tho a bit chintzy in portion size. My dear Queen Bee had the so-called "crispy homestyle chicken." Two decent sized boneless breast pieces with collards, mac and cheese as her chintzy portioned sized sides. She let me try a piece of the chicken( it was actually quite good. Mac & cheese was apparently good too, while greens were quite bland. IDK how collard greens can be bland, but bland they were. Meh! Not once did our dear waitress check on us after we received our food: not once! Why? She was too busy flirting with the two old geezer biker dudes at the table across the way from us. So my beverage never got a refill, I couldn't send back my meat puck back for more grill time. That accounts for the three stars: substandard service from a 20-year-old kid fooling around with two 60+ y/o men who should know better. Store, meantime, was crowded, but they really don't sell anything I'd wanna buy anyway. Why did we choose this place? I should've known better too.

It's in a strip mall, along SR 54-west of Wesley Chapel, but not by much. It was bigger inside than I expected and had a cozy/quaint family feel to it. Lots of tables booths-busy on a Monday morning but no wait-and it wasn't loud-just "humming." My server came right away. He was polite and attentive and kept track of me well. I appreciated his offer of a to go cup for my water. This was going well. And then, there's the food. I ordered the goddess omelet-made with three egg whites, spinach and so much gorgeous, salty, tangy, glorious feta. I didn't wake up thinking I was going to have the best omelet of my life that day... but phhh, I did! It was filling, but not heavy or greasy. It was cooked to perfection-and the fillings were fresh and abundant. It came with potatoes (or grits) that were also cooked perfectly-not soggy or too hard-and lucky for me, no onions. It was also the perfect portion. Any more and I would have felt guilty for eating them all (I never leave a potato bite behind). And... after craving bacon for about a month... I gave in and got some-nice big slices, thick and crispy. This was a happy and tasty surprise. A clean, casual, yummy place with plenty of parking. I will be back to Brunchies a bunch(ies).

When we entered, we were greeted by beautiful clothing, jewelry, knickknacks, and very friendly people. The gift shop was to our left, and where we were seated was to the right, they had beautiful China decorations. They had a wide variety of things to select from and daily specials, along with a kids menu. I was very pleased with my meal and the Swiss and potato soup was out of this world. A couple of ladies coming out recommended it they said they had it and it was excellent and we wouldn't be sorry if we ordered it. And we both ordered it and we were definitely extremely happy with it. Everything is homemade, made from scratch. Whoever the cook is crafted beautiful food presentation. The café is spotless even all the China and beautiful glassware didn't have an ounce of dust anywhere so they take very good care of their product and their restaurant. After lunch, we had dessert and then we went into the gift shop area. The gift shop seemed to go on forever! They had children's clothes, children's books, stuffed animals, gorgeous shoes for adults, dresses, shirts, outfits, jewelry, flowers, fresh cut flowers, cakes and so much more! Plenty of free parking for cafe patrons. Handicap parking, easy access and the bathroom was clean. Our lunch was very reasonable. But the gift shop items were very expensive. $31.00 for a coffee mug?! Baby outfits for $40.00? I admit, the clothes were very beautiful, made from better quality materials. Maybe that's why they were expensive. The gorgeous shoes were very reasonable. The cashier suggested we come back around Christmas time because it's always phenomenal. Will we go back? YES! Mallies is definitely a hip place women enjoy going to. If you'd haven't been to Mallies yet, I would definitely put it on your, "must try" list.
