Within 20 minutes of walking in, we were seated, served coffee and water, placed our order, and received our meals. We enjoyed classic breakfast favorites--fried eggs, patty sausage, biscuits and gravy, reindeer sausage--and the lightest, fluffiest, most perfectly prepared Belgian waffle. The experience was so impressive that we returned the next day to see whether it had been a fluke; it was not. The staff was just as friendly and efficient, and while the breakfast sandwich we added was delicious, I couldn't resist ordering another heavenly waffle. I strolled by the kitchen, a couple of times, to try and look to see what magic they were performing in the background, but their secret sauce is the people who work there! It's casual, unpretentious, and full of charm. The servers are always friendly, attentive, and quick to make sure you're taken care of without hovering. It's that old-school kind of service that's getting harder to find these days. The menu is impressively large, which I love. Whether you're in the mood for a traditional breakfast, a hearty plate lunch, or even a burger first thing in the morning, they've got you covered. Yes--you can absolutely order burgers for breakfast here, and they're legit good. No judgment, just great food. On my most recent visit, I went with the New York Steak and Eggs. I had one of the worst dining experiences I've ever encountered at this restaurant. From the moment we were seated, the service was inattentive and dismissive. Things went from bad to worse when our server accidentally spilled water on me -- and offered no apology or assistance afterward. Mistakes happen, but the lack of basic courtesy was shocking. I ordered toast as part of my meal, but it never came out. To make matters worse, I couldn't help but notice how we were treated differently from the people sitting behind us. The server seemed to scrutinize us more, even asking if we were "together" despite us clearly sitting separately, while the group behind us--who were of a similar setup--wasn't questioned in the same way. It felt like we were being racially profiled, and it made the experience even more uncomfortable. read more

The food was prepared exactly as ordered and over all was ok to pretty good. The pancakes were very tasty, and the hash-browns were perfectly golden and crisp on the outside while being juicy in the inside. My chicken fried steak was also perfectly breaded and cooked, spiced well but not too much. The sausage gravy was pretty good also, with good sausage flavor but not overly spiced. I added salt and pepper. The bacon was also cooked perfectly, slightly crispy but still a little soft. The eggs were prepared exactly as we ordered, but strangely had very little flavor. Not sure if it is an Alaska sourcing issue or what, but there was nearly no flavor at all to the eggs even after salting and peppering them. The coffee was both bland and weak. Overall I give Flo's a tentative recommendation. It probably used to be really good and could be again. But, the management and staff need to put a little heart and soul back into it, because this place could use some TLC.

Selected a table, chose what we wanted - Captain's Basket for me, Reuben for him. I asked for Coke no ice, and server told me "oh we don't have any ice anyway" which, frankly doesn't bother me as I'm English. In England, ice does not come as default.
