Horrible experience!!!! I spoke to the OWNER Sarah about redeming an old gift certificate my brother had given me. Her reply: We have had ones stolen, our system does not have record of it, I have no way of knowing its not one of the stollen ones!!! Im appalled!! To be accused of dishonesty are you kidding me!!! The worth is $125.00 my brother bought it for me as a birthday gift a few years ago. She had no interest in listing to me at all, her only reason for calling me was to accuse me of stealing from her! I have never been so insulted in my life!! To feel this degree of distrust for someone so readily makes me feel she must be VERY dishonest herself. My friend told me about a deal on Travelzoo for a facial and massage at Spa Sasse', she twisted my arm to purchase the deal. OK, so she didn't have to twist that hard ;) It was $79 for a one hour facial and a one hour massage, sweet deal! I ended up purchasing one for my sister too as a birthday present. It can be pretty difficult to schedule something between the three of us, since we're all on different schedules. Well, my sister and my friend happen to have Mondays off, I am usually working and sleeping on Mondays. But, so happens that I'm on a three week vacation! The Monday happened to be my friend's birthday as well, so I called the spa up to see if I could schedule all three of us at the same time. They were very friendly and accomodating on the phone. My sister was first to get a massage, my friend and I were to receive facials first. The woman that did my facial was very professional and her hands were really soothing. She put different products on my face, there was a steam machine that worked in conjunction with one of the products. I really wish I could have one of those machines for home use! She also put products on my hands and feet, and massaged those as well. It was a really relaxing time. Next, I had my massage with Sergio. Wow, he has some great hands! He worked away all my kinks. By the end of the session, I wanted to find out if he had a girlfriend and ask him out! But I refrained! The drawbacks for me are: It's too far for me to come on a regular basis. And since it is downtown, parking sucks bigtime! Also, I got there a little early, and the spa wasn't open yet, and the transients kept coming up and asking for money. I had to duck into the Rite-Aid next door for shelter until the spa opened! read more

Just meh. Went specifically for a hydra facial. It's my go to a couple times a year. Thought the reviews on here were just maybe a little harsh. But the spa was really awkward and dated and just not great for the price. Sad because they're in a great location downtown! Lots of angels and sponge painted walls. Along with no one else in the building getting services and not a huge attention to the customer experience during my facial. My facilitator was nice enough, but this towns got steep competition and if I'm going to pay my hard earned money I'm going to go somewhere more worth it next time. read more

My husband and I came to Portland for an overnight anniversary getaway. We scheduled a couples package spa treatment. Soothing private bath, massage and then a Vichy treatment. Can I just say "Thank You and Wow" Such a great experience. All the staff we interacted with were pleasant and kind. Our soothing bath was delightful. Lots of bubbles, LOTS of bubbles. Water was great temp, candle, champagne, chocolates all were great. Then off to our rose pedal full body massage. Tiffanie and Alan did a great job. Both were attentive, asked about comfort level, pressure, etc. throughout the massage. The Vichy treatment was a little intimidating as neither of us had experienced if before but oh my word, so nice. The warm oil and salt scrub followed by warm water and massage as heaven. We wanted to just stay there the rest of the day. I read through the reviews before booking and have to say we did not experience any of the things described in the negative reviews. We will definitely be back and recommend to our friends that head over to the Portland for weekend getaways. read more

I've been having good massages for three decades but the massage I had with Iqbal was the best ever! His combination of techniques was phenomenal. Iqbal's thirty-seven years of experience made the massage the ultimate pleasure. I came to Spa Sasse with knots in my back and a lot of tension in my neck and shoulders. I left the spa feeling deeply relaxed and as light as a feather. Those results can only be achieved when the right amount of pressure is applied, along with the proper techniques. My reservation was at 5:00PM. I drove from Gresham and there end up being an accident on the freeway. Called to let them know I would be late. Later on I figured out they closed at 6PM. I arrived around 5:30. I asked are you sure it's okay to keep the reservation or should I rescheduled? The male employee told us, it's okay, yes things happen, they can stay for a little extra to finish the massage. This was a moonstuck couple message that I bought for Valentine's weekend. I wish he would of been more Straight up and said it would better for you guys to reschedule to get a full time. Because it was my fault I was late. Understandable. But he told me that would stay over their closing time to finish. They started the massage at 5:40 and ended it at 6PM. And I had to pay the $140 per person, which equal to $280. Then they asked for me if I would leave a tip which I gave partial the amount given. Great massage for the little time. But, would rather reschedule, get a discount for that time, or next time. Or something. Would rather have them so no and turn me away then have me pay full price to get a 20 massage that was suppose to be 60 mins. read more

I'm surprised this place is still in business. It's dirty, outdated, and management is RUDE. The rooms are tiny and they stack supplies on shelves around the massage table. Not very relaxing. Similar to another reviewer, I was also accused of trying to use a stolen gift certificate. I was told they upgraded their system and my gift certificate was not in the new system. I found this spa on Google because it was close to my hotel. I booked a deep tissue massage with Iqbal Kana because I was having some severe lower back pain. When I got there I was greeted by the receptionist and was offered snacks, water, and hot tea. When the MT was ready for me he asked me different questions about my pain levels and where it was located. We started with some stretching my hamstrings and loosening up my hip joints. Iqbal was so amazing. He was professional, very thorough, and worked out all the tightness in my back. This was definitely the best deep tissue massage I've ever had in my life. I got the deep tissue massage for 80 minutes and I honestly wished I booked an even longer one. One of my favorite parts was the aromatherapy at the beginning on the massage. I made sure to get some get deep breaths in for that. It really relaxed me. I left the spa feeling renewed and refreshed. I definitely recommend this spa to my fellow airline crew members when you have a layover in Portland! We all know how those hard jumpseats can be uncomfortable and unsupportive for our backs. Iqbal used pressure points in my feet, assisted with some guided stretching, and applied the right amount of pressure to relieve the tension and knots I had in my shoulders. Where do I start, I bought a laser hair removal package on Groupon and then proceeded to set up an appointment for a consultation. When I arrived at this place it was super nasty dirty, the laser machine that was to be used was very old and dirty. The laser tech was very unprofessional complaining she was tired and just showed no class. Then she tried to tell me that the package that I purchased was not sufficient for the area I wanted done which was actually smaller than what was listed online for the size I bought. I will never return to this place and I would never recommend Sasse to anyone. read more

It's ran by a serious kook! the owner, sara sasse is probably one of the most unprofessional business owners I've come across in a very long while. shes loud & her hands are made quite possibly of sand paper. she started our 5pm massage at 5:12pm and ended it at 5:50pm on the dot!! that's not 50 minutes. (i saw her chewing her fingernails at the front desk during our "foot-bliss") she was extremely rude to one of her employees in front of our very eyes as we were being checked out. almost mocking the blonde girl at the front desk (i didn't get her name, maybe it started with a B) My husband and i came through for his 40th birthday & i felt so bad for his gift that i re-booked at another spa for the next week to make up for a disaster day. p.s our bath was DISGUSTING. we used our phone lights to look around (its very dark). It probably hasn't been cleaned since the 80's paint went up. we got out of the bath before the knock at the door, because we were so grossed out and uncomfortable. yikes. read more

I booked the quick "15 minute" mani over my lunch break.. it was not very quick, but it sure looked like it was! It honestly looked like I did it at home myself... except I could have saved myself the hour+ and the money. The staff (especially the receptionist) were kind of loud and rude behind the reception desk -- they easily could have taken their personal conversation to another room. The woman who did my nails was very friendly, though! It was completely empty of customers, which felt super weird. And though it's lit nicely, I definitely knew I was in a basement, and the decor was kind of tacky? I just wan't feeling the overall vibe. read more
