So good. The food here is always on point. Sunday brunch is awesome. The salad with figs and strawberries is phenomenal and the burgers are as close to perfect as I could ever hope for. Fresh quality ingredients made with love. It must have been my lucky day because this was the first day back for the beignets. I'm not sure where they went or how long they were not available. Firstly, came here because it was advertised as a gastropub, which it is not. They had very basic beers and the tap was apparently broken, the beers they had were bottled and was basically a standard list you'd find at any place that serves beer. The food is good, but good Lord make sure you have 2+ hours to order/eat because it does take long to come out. The server was nice, tried to make up for the slow service, but it was just a crazy wait time for what we ordered and was essentially blamed on what we had ordered which wasn't the case, as the items we ordered were not prepared/delivered the way we had ordered them. The table behind us also got their food before us and it seemed to me the chef needed additional help in the kitchen. One drink that was ordered was way too strong as well. The staff is plenty nice and accommodating as can be, food fine, but service and lag time as well as cocktail strength need to be retouched on. read more

Probably some of the best food you'll find in the area. We've eaten here twice so far while on vacation. The salmon was fresh and tasty. The salads are made with excellent ingredients. The burgers were cooked to order and prepared as requested (medium). The benedict was excellent. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is clean. So, why not five stars? The French Toast was just ok mostly because the syrup was served cold, and the deep fried pickle appetizer was pretty bad - food service frozen bag of tiny pickle spears that were close to 90% breading and 10% pickle. Great service, food & wait time. We ordered the pastrami sandwiches and a cheeseburger. The pastrami sandwich is soooooo GOOD!! I highly recommend it. It was juicy and thin literally perfection. The cheeseburger I wasn't able to finish. It was over grilled and there was a strong taste of burnt char that overtook the flavor of the actual patty. It's absolutely wonderful. The reviews that say it's the best are all 100% correct. We had the Beef Dip and the Pastrami. We're still trying to decide which was better (I think it's a tie). We are going to have to come back and try both again to really decide. The French Fries are thin crunchy strips of perfection. They look almost like potato chips but somehow manage to be both crunchy and soft inside. It was fun watching the chef prepare the food. Cool place, great ambiance and plenty of parking! I've seen the new signage for Spade and Spatula since summer but haven't been coming up to our families place much since the pandemic. We needed a break from our cabin fever and dropped down to Jensen's market for supplies. Spade and Spatula shares the parking lot with Jensen's. Gosh, I wanted to like this place so bad and support an LGBTQIA+ friendly business. We visited on Sunday and sat indoors. The black tablecloth was dirty and didn't appear to be changed between guests. The bathroom was also dirty and toilet didn't flush properly. Service was good, but food quality and presentation were poor. I ordered avocado toast and was looking forward to a farm-to-table presentation. Unfortunately, it was 2 slices of white bread that was barely toasted, a smear of avocado, sliced tomato (like for a burger) and egg. My daughter didn't care for her breakfast sandwich either. My husband enjoyed the breakfast burrito, but developed GI symptoms later. We came because the reviews were great. I wonder if there have been challenges with upkeep and maintaining quality. Driving through this tiny town on a whim, I looked up nearby lunch spots and 'S and S' came highly recommended. I love a good gastropub! After walking in my partner and I waited quite a bit to be seated. We were acknowledged by a server carrying food however that was it. Fast forward a little bit after ordering entrees.. we waited 27 minutes for them to arrive. In the world of wait times, that's top tier stuff!! There were only 4 other tables inside... one of which walked in after we'd already ordered beverages, actually. That said, the food was *outstanding*!! Both my partner and I got vegetarian entrees- so so glad we did!! The house grilled cheese was so incredibly rich. While the kale may have been baby kale (or spinach? It didn't strike me as the right texture) it was honestly one of the best vegetarian sandwiches I've ever had. My partner had the spicy veggie burger and while it was most definitely spicy- she took a few breaks- she said it was delicious and loved their housemade patty. Compliments to the chef! I can't put into words how wonderful and what a beautiful surprise this little small buisness restaurant was. I was in Lake Arrowhead for a romantic getaway with my girlfriend and this place had the best reviews. The atmosphere, the music, the food, the service...100%. 10/10. Our host/waiter was Naum and he was incredible. He served us promptly and always with a lovely smile :)! He ran around and worked so diligently and was always in good spirits! The food ( I ordered the cheeseburger and my girlfriend ordered the beef dip ) was SO SO delicious! So was the fries which were definately shareable! Usually you have to sacrifice quality or quality with nicer foods, but this place had BOTH! Seeing all the rainbow flags made me particularly happy, being part of the LGBTQIA+ community myself! The owner seems to be as well so the welcoming atmosphere was so wonderful! (They also played Adventure Time and Over the Garden Wall music - I'm an animator so it made me so happy! ) HIGHLY recommend this place. Support their open, communal, and friendly restaurant! P.S. What a terrific find. We were steered here by a real estate agent we met in Lake Arrowhead, figuring if anyone would know the restaurant scene, it would be a realtor! I can sing the praises for the food we had. The veggie burgers are made in house and wow, I have eaten veggie burgers all over the world and this one makes it to the top five. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his blue cheese burger made with wagyu beef. We both loved the generous serving of hand cut fries. And they have excellent gluten-free buns, even though they are not listed on the menu. I also want to add this is a wonderfully inclusive place that is proud to be LGBTQ+ friendly. read more

First time in Lake Arrowhead. Wanted something special for lunch and saw it had good reviews. Nice atmosphere not stuffy. We arrived right when it opened so seated immediately. Order Salmon salad, pastrami on swirled rye bread, fries and brochette goat cheese baby tomatoes with thick balsamic ( caprice I guess). Couldn't tell you which I liked best. Salmon cooked perfectly.
