Was going to get pizza, but tried Spanglish Eats at Modern Times and Javier gave me a price I couldn't resist.

The space is decorated with very cool paintings on the walls and plenty of plants. They also have TVs for entertainment, and the FIFA games were playing while I was there. I ordered the ribeye fries, and the portion size is huge--definitely large enough to share between two adults and leave full. The ribeye itself is very good quality, but for me, the flavors missed the mark because the steak gets a bit lost. They are topped with sour cream, avocado, lots of cheese, beans (which they actually forgot to put on mine), chimichurri, onions, and cilantro. It's built like traditional carne asada fries, but because the meat is such high quality, all the thick sauces ended up overpowering it. Just the chimichurri and another light sauce would have been plenty. To drink, I got the watermelon agua fresca. Personally, it was too sweet for me--I didn't taste much watermelon, mostly just sugar water. I love fresh-pressed watermelon juice, so I was expecting something a bit lighter and more refreshing. Service was great! The girl taking orders was very polite and acknowledged me while she finished helping the customers ahead of me. They use table numbers and bring the food right out to whichever table you choose. I also appreciated that the self-serve salsa bar was clean, and I love that they offer hand sanitizer right there to use before or after grabbing your sauces. I think there was alcohol available from what looked like maybe another small business set up to the left when you first walk in, but I'm not 100% sure. It's all street parking. It was busy, so you may have to walk a bit. Also, keep an eye out when crossing the street...I didn't see a crosswalk, and while some cars went the speed limit, others didn't seem to care! I'd definitely go back to try the actual tacos next time!

Walk along the Embarcadero & get a freeze on a hot day, stop by Chilanga's (the best booth there) & get my huitlacoche on. Live music, shade, delicious vendors, right across from the water. I did have a little detour from Chilanga's - while I was waiting for my spouse to park, I sat at a shady table with a woman who was telling me about the poke truck (Island Mike's) & explaining that her coworker ran it as a side hustle, and that the poke was delicious because he had lived in Hawaii. I agonized a bit - get my Chilanga's huitlacoche huarache - or try the poke? I eventually decided: it's Mother's Day, you can have ALL the things, just like at a buffet! So I went to Island Mike's first. They advertised Broke Da Mouth poke - and I was a little suspicious at first - cuz Island Mike's didn't look like a Hawaii native but a mainlander who spent some time there. BUT... I got my poke "island style" (furikake, sushi rice, and the poke - not lots of distractions like seaweed salad or ginger like in the "mainland style") - and it really was off the hook. Really fresh & delicious and perfectly made. YUM & YUM. $12 for one scoop (the smaller size) & very worth it. Of course I still needed my Chilanga's so then I got the huitlacoche huarache (a vegetarian taste of heaven - shredded lettuce, huitlacoche, Mexican cheese on a huarache (masa dough) & tried the mango passion fruit agua fresca. The huarache is huge and I'd already had the little poke, so I took most of it home to eat later. But it was just as yummy as I remembered. And the agua fresca is amazing. I'll still crave Chilanga's but now I'll crave Island Mike's too. I need to get down here more often because it is a super fun outing that is too good to waste on tourists!

There was live music and aa few food stalls. Good Eatz (filipino/hawaiian fusion) caught my eye mainly because they have a few Ube pastries (mochi, ube bar, etc). I first ordered the ube bar which passed the test so I went back to order the mochi. They also offer lumpia, spam musubi and chicken wing combo plates and pork dumplings.

David was incredibly friendly, personable and a pleasure to have at our party. Our entire family and all of our guests loved him. The food was delicious! The hot dogs were fantastic, the elote was a huge hit and the horchata was refreshing and flavorful. The smell of the food cooking had everyone excited and gathering around the cart before it was even time to eat. David stayed engaged with our guests, kept everything running smoothly and made the experience feel special. We received so many compliments on the food and everyone left happy and full. I highly recommend Doggos Gus and David for any event, big or small. Great food, great service and an overall amazing experience. We would absolutely book him again!

Along with the corn and cheese fries. I had the chili dog which is delicious and the California which I loved! The hot dogs are great quality and so good! I also love the cheese and fries, soooo tasty. The bun was a little big for me, but my fiancee loved it. It was a large brioche bun that was toasted nicely. The prices were around 9-11 for a dog which isn't horrible. If your in the mood for a fun and filling hot dog, this is a great choice!

Most of what they have available is frozen but if you call ahead they will have something hot ready for you to pick up. While all the pies have been delicious (and we have tried almost all of them), after several visits we have some favorites: cottage pie (mashed potato upper "crust" - YUM!), steak and cheese pie, and chicken pot pie. The sausage rolls are also excellent, a good choice for an easy hearty breakfast. The Scotch egg was also good. I am used to semi soft ramen eggs and for the scotch egg the egg is cooked very hard - something to be aware of.

Luckily, they still had quite a few options available, like chicken curry and ricotta spinach, they even had a vegan flavor. We ended up getting the lamb rosemary and beef mushroom meat pies. They were on the smaller side, hand-held snacks, but quite filling. They were served warm, generously filled with saucy ground meat, good enough flavor (not my favorite taste, that onion gravy was a little too intense in the beef mushroom pie), and a light flaky crust. Would have preferred something different on their menu, but again, they ran out.
