I used to love this salon, they were affordable, they used to do a good job and would fix things if they messed up. Recently, i've had horrible experiences. I brought in my mom to get her nails done for a wedding and they made the gel nails streaky and chunky - they put 4 coats of the color on! Every time i come in it's empty, which is not a good sign. The younger nail tech is always scrolling on her phone lying down in the middle of the shop. It's the most unprofessional thing i have ever experienced. The last time I went in, I was suppsed to get a regular gel done. I had gotten my previous set from them - and they were struggling to remove it. In the process, two of my nails broke, and now i have stubs. The nail tech was actually going to ignore the breaks and just keep on with the sevice. She started to cut and file my nails, which was PAINFUL because of the deep breaks. I had to stop mid service and pay for just the gel removal and leave. They also no longer have most of their old colors and shades. I will much rather pay $20 extra to go to a place that will not damage my nails. read more

I've been coming here for years! The staff is super nice and very knowledgeable! I had to share my recent short acrylic fill because I was SUPER pleased with how it came out! I brought in 2 pictures for inspiration and Michelle worked with me to find the perfect color and also created some beautiful designs for my winter theme Just wanted to extend my gratitude and highly recommend coming in with YOUR ideas and see what beauty comes of it! I use to go here a lot because they use to do my nails very well but now I feel like they just want the money. The first pic is my sisters nails, they did NOT do a clean up and looks VERY sloppy. The second pic are my nails, shape is ok but didn't even do a clean up around the nail and looked just plain sloppy. First time going today. Got a full set acrylic with gel on top. VERY happy with the overall experience and my nails! I did make an appointment with Jenny and she was very friendly, and listened to exactly what I wanted. She was quick, but did a very nice and clean job. She made sure to ask if i liked the nails, and provided me her card to make sure I return. The salon is small, but long so there are enough pedicure chairs and manicure tables. They have a great variety of polishes and gel colors, and also do designs of your choice. There is a 75 cents fee for paying with credit card, and a pretty large parking lot which is always convenient. They also have a little pedicure chair for kids. Update: 8 years now, this is still my spot! My mother and I get our nails done by Jenny. She's absolutely awesome! She remembers every life detail I vent to her, always smiling, easy to laugh with, and always a pleasure to talk to. These past gel sessions have been my longest lasting sets! Amy is the sweetest. She's been doing my sisters nails and my moms pedicures for years now. I finally decided to go back and get my nails done here since I was in the area. $25 full set + $12 gel, not bad. Nini did my full set & she was amazing. She made my acrylics so thin!! She went all the way to the nail base & every nail is even & symmetric! *after getting my nails done in the South Bay for the last year, I realize how you pay for what you get. Although Nini did a great job, Sparkle isn't up to par when it comes to cleanliness, nail designs or color selection. They had very little to choose from and the nail swatches they had were very dirty and outdated. All in all, id rather pay more in the south-bay at my regular nail shops BUT if I am in union city and NEED my nails done, I would come here. read more

It was my first time here to get a full set done. The reason why I came here was because my friend usually comes and her nails are always super classy and cute!!!! I called on the phone and booked an appointment. They were pretty busy when I came in, but the man who was working in the front was super nice and greeted me. Jenny is the one and did my full set. She is definitely a sweet lady. Really nice to talk too, and she makes sure you get what you like. I wanted to be courages and get a mood gel color but she said it will look weird if the bottom of my natural nail changes to a different shade to the tips. Amy was the one who put my actual polish. She's super nice too! They are all really personable and ask how you are doing. My nails turned out how I expected them to be, and I liked the color so much!! I am a regular customer at sparkle nails. But unfortunately today I took my daughter for the first time to the nail salon" Big Mistake!". A lady called Jenny did my daughters and Mom's nails in such a hurry. My daughters was nothing fancy normal nail polish. Jenny could not execute a simple design for her nails as requested, and so my daughter decided to change her color as it came out so bad. Jenny got frustrated at a little girls request and threw a fit, adding some harsh remarks, which made my 9 yr old upset, and she cried later. I regret taking my sweet girl to this salon for her first nail salon experience, which turned into a disaster for her. Clearly, Jenny does not know how to behave with kids. But overall I think Jenny has no talent at all and no table side manners too. Rolling her eyes!!! O God it was so sad to watch a grown woman behave like that with a child. read more

I tried to give it a chance and give the staff the benefit of the doubt but after yesterday's visit I have truly had enough. I was the only customer they had and everything I asked for I was told they couldn't do. I went in for a new set and gel pedicure. I told the girl I wanted ombré nails and she said she couldn't do it On top of that the lady doing my pedicure put on the wrong color. I was the only one in there I shouldn't have felt rushed. I went in at 4:30 They close at 7. No reason to rush especially if I'm the only customer. The lady skipped doing my pedicure didn't even give me a menu on which pedicure package I wanted. read more

Thus Salon is worthless. The people who work here have no idea what their doing. The one Lady who did actually left the salon and no longer works there. Having a brand new set of nails put on then having to come back to have 6 of the nails replaced within 10 days because of how poorly the nails were put on. The other lady that left put nails on and I actually used them and they would last a good 3 to 4 weeks without any of them breaking. I witnessed one patron with what appeared to be the same issue of nails needing fixed a d they actually refused her service because she had to keep coming back to get them fixed. It was the Salons fault but she was willing to pay to have them reattached once again. My point is... AVOID THIS SALON AT ALL COSTS !!!! They actually de ied her service and told her to go somewhere else ! read more

I used to come here a lot to get gel manicure and pedicure since they do an OK job at a lower price than others. But ever since i started getting acrylics, I've been going somewhere else since I didn't really like how they do it here.. Anyways, I came back here again on Monday, Memorial Day since they were open and my mom and I wanted to have a date and get our nails done. I called in a couple days in advance to set an appt at 10am. We got there exactly at 10am and all the ladies were busy with other customers. We waited about 20 mins and picked our colors, at about 1030am we got seated to get our feet soaked for our pedis and waited another 10mins to have the ladies started working on us. They both apologized for having us wait and told us that they were short staffed. The ladies that work here are very nice and friendly. They remember faces so they remembered my mom and i and even my bf when he got his pedi done here with me about a year ago, lol. All in all, im satisfied with my gel pedi and my mom was happy with her gel mani and pedi. But, one thing i think they can improve on is putting plastic liners on their pedicure tubs.. i know they rinse and scrub it after each customer but i think it would just be more sanitary that way.. read more

Not a regular but will always stop by here for pedicure and manicure when needed and I've always found them to be accommodating. Generally I would rate them to be a 5 as I can walk in and get a service when needed. Today I had to reevaluate my star rating as I understand they take walk in but to rush through my service was not appreciated. I didn't mind waiting nor was the option given to me. Being it's conveniently located I may have to look into other options. My friend and I both felt rushed and quality of work was 2/5. When cutting my cuticle I was truly uncomfortable When doing the scrub it was not at all pleasurable rather uncomfortable. When it came to the end of my pedicure I saw her appointment walked in and understood why she rushed me. Neither of the ladies spoke to us or ask if we ok. Generally I've always seen better service. But I do tend to go while my kids are in school so it's not busy. Today was a weekday and middle of the week. I'll be kind and take one star off as it could be just my bad luck but will update upon my next visit. read more

After creating the atrocity on my nails she continued to tell me how "beautiful" they were and when I asked for her to redo them in white she was incredibly rude and asked for an extra $20, ontop of the original $60 I paid for these. The workers are are rude, incapable, and try to take advantage of younger customers. She even told my 10 year old sister to "shut your mouth these are not your nails" very professional . This place is cheap for a reason. I knew they wouldn't live up to the expectations based on the other reviews, but I gave into the temptation since they were close to where I lived. Besides, all I wanted, was to get my gel nails off. Not a tall ask right?! Wrong! The lady kept asking me if it was ok to pull those nails off. I was in absolute shock and kept signaling that I did not want that, to which she laughed, before she proceeded to apply acetone on my nails. Only after two rounds of failed attempts and multiple acetone applications, she was able to get them off off. Absolute lack of empathy! They barely follow English, which makes it double hard to get the message across to them, but how hard is to interpret pain, and a head shake indicating 'no'? Would give them a zero if I could. read more
