Nice enough staff and chairs. Was first place that was able to accommodate me quickly without an appointment, as I called about five other places first that couldn't take me for hours of at all. I get pedicures mainly for the massage and then for paint. Always on the hunt for a good and consistent place. The only one that's been super on it every time is in Palo alto and just too far for me (shout out to Classy Nails, Palo alto, you are what every place should be!) so this place has been better than the others around here that I've gone to so far but I just say that is a low bar. Kept her gloves on for the massage: thats a downer for sure and greatly impacts the massage negatively. Spent a little over half the massage must rubbing lotion around: also super lame but is what most do in this area that I've experienced so far. She did spend the rest punching my legs which sounds funny but is somewhat mice and at least gives a little action to my muscles. Again I'm comparing to a low bar. Also giving them credit for not hassling me because I wanted the deluxe pedicure but I don't like hot stones and they were fine with that and said they could just replace with hand massage. The paper said multiple things it included that I can't recall plus 15 min hot stone. So I thought I would get at the least 15 mins of massage and hoped a little more. I got 8 mins exactly. I timed. All places should use a timer. ESPECIALLY when you actually list out a time on the price list. Although I hate when places don't even list the time at all because that means you can expect inconsistency. She did do a good job of cutting and cleaning although I'm real easy there. And also bog props because she wasn't afraid to push very hard with the pumice, and I'm super ticklish of they wont do it hard and most places will just skip doing it good as soon as they see I'm ticklish even if I say to do it hard. I just moved to Fremont and needed to find my new mani/pedi spot. After reading all the reviews im so glad i decided on Sparkle Nail Salon.. I always seem to end up at the places that cut me pretty bad...Not this time! I have really narrow nails and the girl that helped me didnt cut me at all! She was great! She suggested which color powder would look best and did a great job on my overlay. All the ladies there were nice and friendly. I came in today with my aunt to get a mani/pedi for me and a pedi/fill for my aunt. I have been coming to Sparkle for years and have usually had good experiences here. Today, however, the older lady who works here did my manicure and I am extremely disappointed with the results. I have been working hard to grow out my nails and was excited to finally get them done today. Unfortunately as the lady was pulling my cuticles, however, she clipped the sides of some of my nails, making them uneven and requiring them to be filed down. Then, the lady clipped my skin and made me bleed. Every subsequent time I winced in pain (cuticles, acetone, etc.), the lady laughed. Making your customer bleed is not funny! Then, I asked for my nails to be filed square and kept long. The lady not only filed my nails all the way down to my skin, but also left many uneven. When I complained, she referred back to them having clipped sides (mind you, that was her doing)! Finally, she painted my white nails with the thinnest coat of polish, despite me asking her 3 times to user thicker coats. 3 coats later, my nails are still patchy. 2 stars because Amy was fantastic with my aunt, even changing a flower design she was unhappy with, and because I've had great experiences with nearly everyone else here. read more

I think they did just fine by me as a drop in. I have been going to a place in the mall and I swear every week the same cup with something in it sit under the same fake flowers in a pot. I am more in to cleanliness than the price. I must admit I got both at Sparkle Salon!!! I love this place - super clean, professional and friendly staff. I'm happy that Crystal took over (been going to Crystal for a few years now and glad she now runs her own shop). Everything in this salon is clean, enough ventilation and service is tops. My 5 year old daughter loves the pedicure chair for the little girls. So so cute and sweet. Very very disappointed with Sparkle Nails. I had been going to Sparkle Nails since moving to Fremont in 2012. My last visit landed me in the doctor's office. I got a regular pedicure however this time the technician suggested I get my heels softened for only $5 more. I agreed. All was well until 2 days later. I noticed several pimples on my left ankle. I didn't think anything of it. The next day the yellow, liquid filled, pimples had merged together and were raised and very itchy. I showed my husband and he suggested that I see the doctor. The doctor said that I had gotten a chemical burn. I suggest that you know the products they are using and that the technicians know how to properly and safely use them. read more

Very nice new salon. Prices are great and quality is awesome. I've gone for a pink and white w/gel fill probably 5 times now and Kim is great! She takes a long time (about an hour I'd say), but that's only because she files until she feels they are perfect. Pedicures are great too. My sister had a manicure and loved it. It's a very quiet salon, only 2 girls working currently but I'm afraid that when this place gets more clients (and I'm sure it will), appointments will be harder to come by. The location is a little out of the way for me (the very edge of Fremont, basically Union City) but so far I'm willing to go the extra few miles. I always went to Zaza until the last time I went and my polish was almost all gone within two days (which, for the price, shouldn't happen). I was so mad, especially since I shelled out about $60 and gave them a good review before! So, I found Sparkle on Yelp and was quite satisfied. It was really clean (and the reviewer that even said "sparkling clean" was right), but, of course, it is still pretty new. They don't quite have all the luxuries that I liked in Zaza, like tools in sterilized packs (not that I saw, at least) but I did notice one manicurist sterilizing in a machine and I used their bathroom, which is near where they keep supplies and such, which was pleasantly clean and organized, which says a lot. Aside from that, I love my nails! Been a few days now and they still look perfect! Nail polish seems cheap, but whatever they put as the top coat must really work well. The prices are great too!!! I got everything for half what they charge at Zaza. Plus, you get a card for a free service after 10 visits. You definitely won't feel pampered (for that, definitely go to Zaza), but you will be relaxed and have a good quality mani/pedi for a great price in a nice, clean facility. read more

I absolutely love this place for my pedicures and manicures! For the price, the service is exceptional. My reasons: 1. They not only make my toenails look nice, but they actually scrub/exfoliate my feet well AND you get a nice 3-4 minute foot massage. 2. The pedicure chairs are clean, comfortable and work. 3. This was my first time here. After having a teacher and a good friend rave about the place I'd thought I do. The price I guess was okay, $28 for a gel (I think because I have a sparkle design it cost a little more, not sure) however, the girl cut my skin, causing it to bleed and after two days, it's already kind of chipping and it's gel. I can't say I'd go here again. They were friendly, but at the same time, I've gotten better quality gel at other places and I'd be willing to pay more for it knowing that it will last longer. read more

This place is probably hit or miss. You get what you pay for. It's cheap. First time i came here it was ok, the lady that did my nail was nice and it was an ok experience so i came back with my daughter which is 10. She was excited about sitting in the butterfly pedi chair that they have there. But it was such a waste of money. we came probably around 5 or so. the girls that did our pedicures seem like they were in such a hurry to go somewhere. My daughter complained that the water was next to cold. Considering she was paying with her allowance money she was really disappointed. Today was just one of those days where I wanted to cut my toe nails but felt like, hey what the heck, why not someone else do them. Luckily I live down the street so I was able to get there in about 5 minutes. I'm glad I went there because Jenny was able to do my pedicure and another girl (I didn't catch her name) was able to do my shellac manicure so I was in an out of there within an hour. My friend was able to sit next to me, which is great because we needed to catch up anyways. There is nothing better than a fresh pedicure and mani cure and Sparkle Nails delivers. The prices are not as expensive as other salons and since the salon is dedicated completely to nails, they know how to do it right. When I went, I got a simple French manicure on my hands and it lasted three weeks with no major chipping. I was surprised it lasted that long. it's conveniently located and the lady who did my feet was so nice to me and caring. The scrub on my feet felt really nice. But they had so many choices for nail colors and my other friends also go there and when they show me their intricate nail designs, I am jealous. They even have holographic nails. The only bad thing is the parking but other than that, I come here every time I have a special event and feel great every time I leave. read more

I could give this place ZERO STARS I would. Made an appt with Holly. I asked her for something that is very simple remove my old acrylic nails. She sits there and the first 2 she touches she breaks them.... I have been going to another nail place for many many years and they have never do that. When she broke the first I though accident happen. But by the second I figured this lady does not know what she is doing. So I nicely tell her this is not going to end well, I am just going to take a 30min drive to my old place and have them do them. I asked her how much a owed her for 3mins of her time and 2 broken nails and she says 3 dollars..... Instead of being apologetic, she charges me. As I am walking to my car, the owner Jenny approaches me telling me she can do my nails and that she has been doing nails for many many years. I should have just walked away.. But instead gave her a chance to fix them. So she is very talkitive and does my nails. Not the best I have had. But I thought it was worth a try. I was their for 2.5HRS. For taking off my old set and doing a new set...??? Way to long... She charges me 32 dollars and I tipped her 5 dollars. When i was driving home i realized the gel was not applied evenly and towards the tip of my nails it has bubbles and parts that do not have gel... Now less than a week later my nails are lifting and look HORRIBLE... This has by far been the WORST experience of my life. Will not be going back and will not ever recommend this place. No, no, no!!!!!!! So I wanted to try a new nail salon closer to my house. Besides the location, the prices were cheaper than the salon I usually go to. Cons: -Did not reply to my email with questions regarding their services -Scheduled an appointment over the phone and was quoted @ $22 for a gel shellac manicure. Was actually charged $26-$1=$25 for paying in cash -They were NOT prepared for my appointment-kept pushing me to pick a color, after I told them I wanted a french manicure. It took a while for 3 of the workers to argue in their native tongue to figure out that I wanted a French gel manicure. Even then, my manicurist told me to sit in the massage chair for a pedicure! -Not very organized- manicurist kept getting up and walking around the shop, in search of different polishes that she needed -She put the wrong primer on, and after having me dry the first coat, tried to wipe it off with a cotton ball-REALLY?!?!?! Another worker found the correct primer and was yelling at her in their language right in front of me. Then she didn't even fix it-she just went over it with the correct primer. -When she finished, I noticed several obvious imperfections on at least 5 of my nails. She tried to convince me that it looked fine, but I had to ask her to fix it. She ended up only fixing 3 of my nails. -I would have complained more if I hadn't had other things to do that day Pros: -Cuticle cleaning was pretty good I will definitely not come back here-EVER! Sparkle Nail Salon opened late December 2007 or early Jan 2008. I do not have a nail salon I usually go to, nor do I even get manicures that often, so I usually go to whatever is convenient at the time. What attracted me to this salon is that it is new in the Union City/Fremont border area, and also there was a huge sign for 15% off their services because of their grand opening. In addition to their manicure tables, there were spa/massage chairs for when you need a pedicure. The people were were accommodating and welcoming. There was a little language barrier, but it wasn't a big deal. I applaud the cleanliness and that they sterilize their instruments. The manicurist gave great hand / arm massage, plus i appreciated her honesty. She mentioned that the color polish i chose for myself was not suited for my skin tone and she gave me other options that was more flattering. Good service, friendly staff, and I will start going on a monthly basis! BTW, don't forget to get a sparkle business card! Have them sign the back of it every time you buy a service. Give it two stars only because of the cheap price and it was the only place that was still available for walk in on a Friday afternoon. Always go to Yvonne's but they were full so I had find somewhere that take walk ins. After seeing all the good reviews I called them and they said walk ins are welcome. When I got there my fiend and I were the only customer. The lady that did my toes did a decent job and she was trying to make a conversation throughout the whole process. But the girl that did my nails didn't talk to me at all not even a smille. I'm ok with that I'm not making friend there as long as my nails come out beautiful. But no. She finished everything in 15 minutes and she did really bad job on painting my nails. I can do a better job. I told her she didn't cover some spots and also painted on my cuticles she give me this look like I made so much trouble that made her do extra work. She paint two layers of nail polish but the second layer is not fully covering the first layer so you can actually see there are two layers. Worst experience ever. My friend said the lady that did her nails did a nice job so I guess it's based on who you get. Oh, the girl did my nails did Smile and talk the whole time until I paid. She said welcome back with a big smile on. Back again? Hell no. Even I can do a better job then her. read more

Not only did I have a horrible experience & they did a half job on my nails they Charged me 35$ for a plain gel fill, my nails are uneven, they didn't cure my gel coat so I went home with sticky nails & have paint all over the sides of my fingers!!! but the manager conned me into taking down my original review because he says he would accommodate me & fix my nails & give me a discount.. Turns out once I took down the review & changed it to a positive one he never followed through!!! Gave him a week to follow through before I changed my review & still hasn't!!! I went to sparkle nails today despite the reviews. I waited 15 mins no problem for walking in. Few of the ladies where really nice but the lady who did my nails was Un friendly and rude. I can't even tell you all her name because she never acknowledge me by saying hello my name is... while she was checking out her last customer the manager asked me to sit at the last station close to the back. When the lady return she just looked at me like she was mad and did not want to do my nails. She asked me what I wanted and that was it. It took everything for me to stay there. Sad thing is I saw the work she did on the previous customer and it was good. Before she painted my nails I ask to pay her. I then told her that I was not happy with her service and that she was unfriendly and rude not to mention how she rudly grabbed and handled my hands. I asked her if she was having a bad day.. anywho, I normally go to a place near my work but was in the area visiting and needed to get my nails done. I normally tip 10 bucks for service but out of kindness I gave her 5 bucks!! This place has potential but with unfriendly and rude technicians they will not win I'm the long run. read more

I made a yelp just to post how disgusted I am. I will never ever be returning. I showed her a picture of what I wanted, she glanced at it & then did her own thing. My nails were way too narrow and uneven! All different shapes and sizes. She left gel on my cuticles & the edges of my nails are rough and snag onto things. Underneath my nails she didn't bother to smooth out either and my cuticles have dried up blood from her going too rough on them. I later returned to tell her and ask if she could fix it, they talked about me with attitude in their language and then told me no they couldn't fix them but maybe next time I came in they could try. Hell no. There won't be a next time. I was willing to pay for her to remove and put on a full set but the conversation didn't even get that far, she automatically turned me down. Lady didn't even ask what I wanted ( I get regular nail polish sometimes instead of gel) ok...i ask for longgg nails she cuts it at an ok length and files it wayyyyy too much to the point where it was like half a centimeter from the tip of my finger...I gave her a tip bc why not..I go home my fingers are full of cuts..wtf....my fingers burn whenever it touches something and nail polish ended up peeling off by 2nd week:-) never been so salty with a nail salon never coming back thanks read more

So I have been reading the reviews and lately they have all been bad. I have to say that this is my favorite nail salon. I go to Helen who is amazing with nails and fast. I have been going to her since she was at Tony's Nails in Irvington and I love her. The reason some of you may have been experiencing bad service lately is because Helen, the owner has been gone for a few months for personal reasons. I go to Sparkle because it's walking distance from my house. I only ever got acrylic sets from them, and they do a decent job. They look very very pretty and I've gotten compliments on my nails! It's not perfect though - sometimes they miss spots with the topcoat and sometimes some parts of the nail are thicker than another side. However, they don't last very long, and lift pretty quickly, so you'll definitely be going in for refills within 2 weeks or so. For only 20$ it is definitely reasonable - you get what you pay for! read more
