Bad customer service, if you don't like working there as a receptionist, find a different job. Don't give customers crappy service because you look like you hate the job you applied and got hired for. Customers go to your professional repair shop in a bad mood sometimes and they have to pay a steep price for a simple oil change job, the last thing they need sometimes is bad service. At least Greet us with a friendly attitude. It won't hurt to be a little more welcoming. Maybe the manager needs to re-train for customer service or that receptionist needs to go. I have been going to this place for a couple years with no issues. However, my daughter went in and they charger her $10 for an oil filter that is not included in an oil change. Really not included!!! The bill had 2 filters on it. One included and one not but they had the same number so they chargered the $10. The lady could not explain the bill to me. Anywjere else but here. My son took his car there less then a month ago checked it today.... its dark as night as if it was never changed. The car doesnt leak or burn oil and the oil hasnt ever looked this bad. It's a one time thing or a honest mistake but about 2 months ago my wife took her suv there for a oil change aswell. 1 week later suv developed a strange sound she took it to the dealer and they said there was hardly any oil in it. We arrived 45 min before closing for a smog check. Smogs usually take 15-20 minutes. There were no cars in the garage. They quoted us an hour and a half and refused service because they said they did not have enough time. I will never return to a place with such lazy and ill qualified employees. read more

I do not recommend taking your vehicle to this place. First off the woman working the front desk is extremely rude, I took my truck there for an oil change while there I noticed three guys standing around my truck looking at the engine laughing the next day I noticed quit a bit of oil under my truck I opened the hood and there was oil leaking around my gaskets. If you do have your vehicle worked at this auto repair, make sure to look for damages BEFORE you drive away. I needed an emergency car repair and they were the closest and recommended by my insurance company. It was during the forest fires near Santa Cruz 2016 so when I picked up my car I didn't notice the dent until I washed the ashes from my car. They must have left a tool on the rim of the hood because the damage was from the inside of the hood. I have contacted Spee-dee and the Midas corporate office. They have ignored my emails. Normally I get my oil changes at Speedee, on 4 different vehicles. Normally service is great, fast etc, the price is ok. On December 22, 2021, I had my oil changed at the Hollister shop. After a trip to Gilroy, I noticed my oil pressure, was a lot higher than normal. I checked my oil level and it looked about a quart higher than it should be. Today (January 4th, 2022) I took it back and asked them to take some oil out. The tech told me he had to check with the manager, I watched as he did, and I saw him shake his head side to side, which is usually, no. I was right, I mentioned Yelp, the young man said, go ahead, so here I am. I am sure the tech would have done it if it was up to him, he was real polite and our discussion was the same. I took the truck home, jacked it up and removed about a quart, a little messy but it didn't take long. I guess they don't care if they lose a customer or two. I forgot to mention, the drain plug was on way too tight. When you get your oil changed anywhere, they should check to make sure it is not tightened excessively. One other thing, wear a long sleeve shirt when doing this, by exhaust pipe was still hot when I did this. read more

My husband and I have never had major car problems, since bringing both our cars in we have had nothing but problems! My husbands car needed a new starter and sat in the parking lot half the day. When they finally called us right before closing to pick it up, they had charged us for a full days labor. Then they told us the battery was dead from them working on it. So on too of the $800 they charged us we had to go buy a new battery because heaven forbid they do it. I had taken my car in for a tune up and to have my fluids changed and checked. Well apparently they like to charge you for work they don't do because my car started over heating not to long after getting work done. I took it to a different Mechanic I trust and he told me that my car was so low on coolant there was no way they added any or probably even checked it. We will never take our cars there again. Don't they realize that their half hearted and shaddy work is eventually going to harm someone? Now on top of all this when my husband took his car in for an oil change they told us he needed $700 worth of work on leaks from his tranny and his water hose we decided to get a second opinion... Well I'm glad we did because neither of those we're leaking! What a freaking joke! I had a heck of a time getting my car smogged because two sensors weren't ready. Jessie took the time explain the issue and told me what to do to fix it. Drive the car! It didn't seem like it would resolve that easy, so after three visits to Speedee, I took it to a local mechanic. He ran diagnostics, said there was no problem with the car other than the sensors not being ready, and to drive the car just like Jessie said. Two days later I took it to Mercedes thinking there has to be a problem that nobody is seeing. They also ran diagnostics, found no issues, and told me to keep driving the car, that the issue would resolve itself. Yesterday I took it back to Speedee for the fourth time. Jessie was there again to help. Thankfully it passed. Speedee only charged me for the initial smog check and the smog certificate, and did not charge me for the other visits to check the sensors. Jessie was helpful, and very patient with me, so much so that I made it a point to come to Yelp and review the business. read more

Waited an hour and a half before we decided to call them, and there was a disorganized answer saying "I guess it's done". I wish there was a way to give zero stars.... They deserve it. Volvo S40 - Took in for brakes. Brakes squeaked every time I put my foot on the break. Took it back several times with the same results. To this day the brakes STILL squeek! Dodge Durango - Took in for radiator leak and oil leak (after I picked it up from an oil change). Told me it was the water pump. Paid a couple of hundred for that. Got home and still leaked radiator fluid all over my driveway. Never fixed the oil leak. Took in again for both leaks. Oil leak fixed. Apparently they didn't tighten down the oil filter??? STILL leaking radiator fluid. Took in a 3rd time. This time told me it's the radiator. Won't be returning for any future business. The only bummer is that this one of the only places in Hollister.... Good luck! read more

I went in for an oil change today, drove home and noticed a stream of fluid coming out from under my hood when I got home and parked the car in the driveway. I immediately drove back to have Speedee take a look and repair whatever was wrong but the owner immediately said it was an existing problem -- he didn't offer to take a look to see if possibly a hose was disconnected during the oil change, didn't offer any sort of resolution; just a straight up "not our problem" attitude. As he stood there, unable to offer a solution, I appreciate an employee (Henry, I believe) got under the car to try and take a look at what happened. After a while of not getting anywhere with the owner, he again suggests it was an existing problem and I should check back with the manufacturer. My car is new, it doesn't have mechanical issues or any other issues underneath the hood. I know that when I drove in for the oil change there was no leak, let alone a steady stream coming out from under my car. What I DO know is that after my oil change there was a substantial amount of fluid coming out from under my car so I can only conclude that there was some sort of mishandling of the car parts during the oil change. I was a regular customer of Speedee in Hollister up until today but their inability to perform their job carefully and the owner's inability to own up to their mistakes, in addition to his blatant dishonesty is incredibly disappointing and is something I don't care to deal with moving forward. read more

I went here years ago. They quoted one price over the phone and when we first got there and he saw our pickup he said the same price. Then after the work was done, and not done correctly, they charged us more and said that it was because it was a pickup and they cost more than cars. I told them that they knew it was a pickup when I brought it in and when they quoted me the price. Anyway, within 24 hrs we were having check engine light and other problems that we hadn't had before. Coincidence???? I don't think so. The worst part was how insanely, and I do mean insanely, rude the guy was. I've never gone back. I just found these when I was trying to find a good mechanic for my Bug and can't believe they are still in business with how much everyone hates them. The only good reviews they have are from girls in low neck blouses, or such ridiculous ones that you know they had a friend or family member write them. They lost my wheel lock and refuses to change it to OEM locks but rather a simple lug nut. When I confronted them they said it wasn't there anymore. The point being I didn't not know this until I inspected it. They never advised me it was missing. So it does not come off by itself and my last tire rotation everything was in order before I came to this place. Will never come back here again. read more

I would give this horrible place a -5 of possible. They have the worst service, they still your money and they will destroy your engine. You are better off going to a kid in high school, they will probably do a better job. I took my 84' camaro for a tune up and they charged be about $500. They told me afterwards that i need to come soon because my engine needed more work. A week later the transmission and engine were dead. I took my car to a side mechanic and he found that they had only connected 6 spark plugs into the v8 engine not only that but they did not even change the spark plugs, They just took 2 of them off!! HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! DO NOT GO HERE! If I could rate them with zero stars I would. They messed up not one but two of our vehicles! A simple oil change lead to them cross threading our oil drain plug which in turn completely destroyed the oil pan on our F150. They also worked on our Corolla in which they over torqued the oil filter. We now have to have the filter housing completely replaced which is going to cost us about a half a day of labor and parts with another mechanic. So in the end a simple $40.00 oil change is now going to cost us hundreds!!! read more

Be very careful at this place. I have taken two cars there only to have them leak oil after an oil change. These cars never leaked oil before, and now they both do. When I asked them about it they said both cars needed the oil pan replaced. Seems a bit fishy that cars that never had issues would suddenly need oil pans replaced at the same time. My boyfriend got his oil change here on Saturday 4/21 and everything seemed fine until today 4/26. He called me and said the oil can light kept flickering and asked me to bring oil to his work. We checked if there was oil in his car and there was nothing in it! So we filled it with more oil and we thought everything was good to go, but then realized his oil was leaking. There was no problems with the car oil leaking until we brought it to SpeeDee. We trusted in their services and paid $80 for an oil change. We are VERY disappointed at the service provided by SpeeDee. My boyfriend lives in hollister and commutes to Palo Alto for work so he was driving with oil leaking from his car the whole time. You can see the oil splatter on the back of the car. Now we are stuck at his work waiting for the tow truck to arrive. We will be reaching out to SpeeDee about this issue. I went to get an oil change and change the lamps in my headlight on Saturday in my Yukon. I let them know I had already purchased the lamps and they said ok. I saw that it was posted at $14.99 plus labor for each and I was fine with that. They said that they were the wrong lamps and needed different ones and I said fine (no additional quote at this time). The auto parts store next door brought them over as I observed. They went to let me know it was done and said the bill was $345!! I was shocked and said the synthetic oil change is around $80 and the bulbs are $14.99 each with some labor. I asked how it got to $345. They said the oil change plus one hour labor ($115) plus the bulbs at $75.00 each! I said could I please see the receipt for the bulbs as they had brought them over and they were $26.99 for two ($13.45 each)! I asked the owner if he was serious about an approximately 550% markup and he said he could take them out! I was appalled and asked for him to take some off the bill and he took $10 off. I told him I was never coming back. All of this and his wife was walking around the floor in high heels and a skirt, a severe safety hazard! Speedee should be ashamed to say the least. read more
