Sperry's has been a Steadfast and wonderful place to dine in Nashville since 1974. This place exudes old school steakhouse with its decor yet at the same time manages to make you feel warm and cozy. The menu is extensive with meat and seafood options aplenty. We got the rib eye grilled, rib eye charred, trout almond, creamed spinach, grilled asparagus and the mushroom sauce--this rarely is something I can write everything was delicious! The steaks were cooked to perfection, I especially loved the seasoning on the blackened steak. Our server James was wonderful. We have a 6 o'clock reservation for a Sunday evening! We arrived a little early and they were able to sit us a little before our reservation. Ralph was great! He was very personable and knew his menu and wines very well. Four of the five ordered a bottle of Pinot Nior while I had an extra dirty martini! The wine and martini were very delicious! We opted for no appetizer and ordered right away with our dinners. Bottles of wine on Sunday are half price, so we went for a second bottle of wine! The table order the halibut, blackened ribeye, ribeye, filet oskar, and the blue cheese stiff filet! A few weeks ago my family was in town and it was finally time to try Sperry's. I have been hearing about it since we first moved here in 2009. It's a Nashville OG, beloved by natives, and a capsule in time. It's an old school style steakhouse. The decor consists of dark reds, mahogany, and creams. The floor is carpeted. The tables and chairs are heavy, dark wood. You get the vibe? The service is top-notch. These are top tier, high class servers. Before we had even sat down the waiter was asking what cup style and beverage my kids wanted. The cups were in their hands at the exact time their bottoms hit the chairs. They fire your steaks when you're halfway through your salads. The runners are dropping off and removing plates with a beautiful choreography. 10 stars for the waitstaff. I ordered the prime rib, mushrooms, and a shrimp skewer. I washed it down with a martini and glass of red. My prime rib was cooked a perfect medium rare. When I say perfect, I truly mean perfect. It comes with a warm, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside rolls. Again, perfection. Lastly it comes with a salad. People have talked up the salad bar a ton over the years. It was.....okay. It's fine. It's a bar with one green and toppings. Next time, I'm ordering the wedge. The shrimp skewer was okay, but next time I'm going to try the shrimp cocktail rather than warm skewer. You think I wanna dig through barbecue sauce and grits to de-tail my shrimp? Caesar and wedge salads were great. With all the viruses going around, we weren't about to hit the salad bar. Filets were average, needed a bit more seasoning. One was undercooked, but that's better than overcooked. As a side note, whoever painted the lines in their parking lot must've spent too much time at the bar. I tried to squeeze a Ford escape into one and my sensors were going off like crazy. I was in town on business and decided to try Sperry's based on the reviews which turned out to be spot on. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was great although it was definitely loud. I ordered the Ribeye, Salad Bar, Broccoli with Hollandaise sauce and a glass of Cabernet. The waiter started me off with a nice hot loaf of bread and butter and then I tackled the salad bar which you don't see too much of at restaurants any more. The salad bar had fresh lettuce, a great variety of toppings, and an assortment of dressings. My Ribeye and Broccoli showed up promptly after my very tasty salad. The Ribeye was hot and cooked perfectly as was the very good Broccoli. I had planned on trying g one of the good looking deserts on the menu but I just couldn't fit in another bite. First time I ate at Sperry's. A bit confusing when you walk into the bar to get a drink before dinner. All bar stools were taken and the only opening was for servers only. We came to Sperry's from out of town before visiting Cheekwood. My husband made a reservation the week before. We came with our two kids, ages 3 and 7. The overall vibe of the restaurant was more upscale than I expected. The restaurant was dark, and most people were very dressed up. I have to admit, I felt a bit out of place in jeans! Our server was great. He explained the salad bar and menu since it was our first time. He was also great with our kids. The food was wonderful! The bread was a nice filler while waiting for dinner, and a hit with our kids! I had the Maude's grilled chicken. Very juicy and had a yummy char grilled taste. My husband had the bacon filet and he said it was cooked perfectly. The baked potato was fluffy and tender. Both of my kids could have probably shared the kids chicken tenders (portions are generous) but the chicken had a great taste and was not tough. I have been to the majority of all of the other famous steakhouses around Nashville and Sperry's has become my go to restaurant for any occasion when I want to go out to eat a nice dinner! They have the greatest employees and the staff that are incredibly helpful. It has an amazing salad bar that you used to see at restaurants years ago. My wife and I had dinner at Sperry's Cool Springs location on 3/19 to celebrate her birthday. we had an amazing time. We started out with a visit to the well stocked salad bar. The homemade dressings were delicious, and the vegetables on the bar were crisp and fresh. For our entrees, I chose the queen cut prime rib. It was cooked to perfection, and was served with garlic mashed potatoes. My wife had a filet with a twice baked potato. Her steak was also perfect. For desert, we shared banana's foster. Our server made the delicious flaming treat right at our table. As for service, it could not have been any better. Our very accomplished server Carlo, was a truly classy gentleman. As first time customers, he explained the history of the restaurant while going over the many features of the menu. Carlo was a true professional in every way. By the time we finished our desert and paid the check, we felt like he was a long time friend. We can't say enough good things about Carlo. Another nice touch was a complementary photo for my wife's birthday recognition. The establishment is decidedly (in a good way) "old-school", and a throwback to a mostly bygone non-corporate era of family-run restaurants focused on service and food quality instead of "Instagramabilty". Cannot remember the last time I opted for a salad bar, but the selections were nice and fresh and I am glad I did; Caesar salad was also very good. Warm bread and whipped butter was very good. The BBQ shrimp and grits entree was interesting and tasty; crab cakes (though they could have been served hotter) were presented simply but outstanding and perhaps the best I have ever had. I selected Sperry's restaurant in Belle Meade based on the Yelp reviews. We had a 5:30 PM reservation. The hostess had us slated for a table in the bar area but we preferred the dining room and were immediately seated in a comfortable 2 person table. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, low lighting, beautiful wall art and comfortable seating. Our server Nathan was friendly and helpful throughout dinner. The dinner menu includes the salad bar or a lettuce wedge. My wife ordered the wedge and I chose the salad bar. The salad bar had a wide variety of fresh vegetables and accompaniments. For a starter I ordered the Shrimp Bisque soup which was delicious. The soup had plenty of shrimp. Our entrees were the Petite (6 oz) Filet. The steak was cooked perfectly as requested, well done. I chose the Red Snapper topped with crab meat and served over a bed of spinach. The soup and Red Snapper were on the specials menu. The Red Snapper looked and tasted like a chicken breast and was tough to cut. It was returned to the kitchen and replaced with twin 5 oz Lobster Tails which were delicious. The Peppermint Ice Cream dessert was refreshing. To my surprise, the Red Snapper and the Lobster Tails were removed from the bill.
