As always the food was amazing. We had an assortment of appetizers, the mushrooms, my least favorite. Smoked salmon, escargot, Brie, and prime rib sliders. My complaint was our server. We are 2 older women that deserve as much attention as the younger customers. I feel strongly that we were overlooked on several occasions as more attention was given to the younger crowd. We had to ask several times for assistance. Just FYI, we can tip as well as the next person. Also, the apps should have been staggered as there was not enough room on the table for all the food at one time. I will be back with more specific instructions. read more

A pretty solid steak house experience. I was fresh off a plane and they found me a table for one with the proviso they needed it back in 75 minutes. No problem. Give me a wedge, rare filet pittsburgh, and some stewed mushrooms. The wedge was not great, the lettuce was garbage and the dressing more like cottage cheese. Also sliced black olives do not belong on a wedge. But who cares, the star is the filet, and it was darn good. 8oz, rare, pittsburgh crust. It was even cool in the very center. I loved it and I would come back. Brian was a great server. The place is what you would expect for an older steakhouse, kind of dark and heavy. But that's cool. read more

Fantastic place! Came here for my husbands birthday after several friends had recommended it. The service, food, and atmosphere were all top notch. Do yourself a huge favor and get a reservation- does not matter the day or time either. We had a 5:30 reservation on a Thursday night and this place was wall to wall! The service and our waiter were absolutely spectacular. I had a spicy margarita martini to start off of their happy hour menu (goes until 6) and it was great - $14. Most entrees come with the option of a wedge salad, Caesar salad or the salad bar. I opted for the Caesar and it was delicious. The salad bar is similar to Ruby Tuesday. Complimentary bread also comes with the meals. A few people in our group got prime rib, I had the snapper special, and my husband had a filet. We ordered the lobster Mac and twice baked potato as sides and they were great! Large portions and delicious. Lastly, for dessert they brought out their sticky toffee pudding with a candle for my hubby. It was out of this world- so rich and delicious! The rest of us got the bananas foster for 2 and split it amongst 4 people- it was more than enough and the presentation and preparation were so fun to watch. They cook it right at your table. Do not miss out on this place. The decor is definitely a little dated but the atmosphere makes up for it. The salad bar, you have to try.. they have everything you could ever want. Don't miss out on the bananas foster- even if you're not hungry. I'd pay just to watch them cook that again. Worth every dollar spent. But their unique quality is how they treat everyone the same, no matter the regulars of old Belle Meade money or less well dressed like I am. This was our first visit. We were ere celebrating two birthdays, we had a wonderful meal, excellent server and enjoyed the whole experience. You are treated like a VIP guest! We'll definitely return. My medium well filet wrapped in bacon was good-- would've been GREAT- but the bacon was burnt and gave my whole steak a burnt taste. My husband had the prime rib and it's definitely at the top of his best ever!! The wonderful fresh salad bar was above and beyond what we expected from a salad bar. Wife and I came here with family from the local area who had been here before and highly recommended it. We were not disappointed! Thankfully we had a reservation because this place was packed, and rightfully so. The ambiance, menu, and service were all fantastic. Our drinks and appetizers were delivered promptly, and everything was as advertised. The stuffed mushrooms were tasty, and were a generous portion. Our smoked salmon with toast points was also delicious, and again there was plenty to share. My main course was the king cut prime rib, which was not just an excellent piece of meat, but was perfectly prepared. Wife opted for the 9 oz. filet, which was not bacon wrapped like the 6 oz portion is, but was nonetheless an outstanding choice. The adjacent table shared a Bananas Foster dessert which was prepared tableside, and was done with flair and expertise. Unfortunately, we had no room left for that, so we're saving it for next time. Terrible experience. First and last time at Sperry's. A Nashville staple but I'm not sure why. We went to the Belle Meade location since it was the OG. I got shrimp and grits. Shrimp was over done, hard and chewy. For $30 a dish, I expected more than just a thick layer of yellow cheddar with a drizzle store-bought barbecue sauce over hard shrimp with no seasoning. I ate the dish and didn't send it back, but then the dessert came. We ordered espresso brownie and told our server we had a pecan allergy. She said she was certain it was walnuts but she would check. The dish came out and we started eating. It turned out it was pecans. Had she actually asked before putting the order in she would've discovered not only that it contained pecans but they were just sprinkled on top and they could've opted not to put the pecans on. We could've enjoyed the dessert without causing a medical emergency. We were still charged for the brownie. The quality does not lineup with the price. The customer service is not worth the experience. Not one thing we ate seemed worth the price or was over the top delicious. There's so many good places in Nashville to eat that have FAR better food for this price and don't have a dress code. PLEASE DON'T BOTHER. Trent was a fantastic server. He was attentive, funny, friendly; just excellent all around. Food was top-notch. The crab cakes were phenomenal, bananas foster was an experience. And of course, the steak was great. We loved everything. My one teeny nitpick is the choice of small macaroni for the lobster mac & cheese. I would have like an elbow macaroni We were seated at the half wall next to the bathrooms, which I expected to be upset about, but it wasn't actually that bothersome. We were great with that but the hostess was like we can get you seated if you are fast as the table was being held for a later reservation. I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience or meal at Sperry's. I started going there during my college years (special occasions only) in the late 70s. It was a favorite special night out when my husband and I started dating in the mid 80s, and it's still special to us. We visit Nashville at least once a year and almost always go to Sperry's. I arrived yesterday in Nashville for my first ever visit, and from the time I walked in the door until I left, I had the best food and service I have ever experienced. I ordered the Prince William Blue Cheese Stuffed Filet which came with the salad bar and bread. I also ordered grilled asparagus with hollandaise sauce on the side. My server, Kelly, was absolutely amazing. The restaurant was packed, but she was very attentive and items were promptly removed as I finished them. I was there to celebrate my birthday, and someone else came over with a camera and took my picture and put it in a Sperry's Restaurant folder with "Happy Birthday 2025" written above my picture, and they also gave me a free dessert for my birthday. The staff were all wishing me a happy birthday when I entered and when I left. They also bought my glass of wine to thank me for my service in the military. Before our trip to Nashville I researched he best place for steak and this place caught my eye. If you're like me you don't want to visit a place and go to a chain restaurant. No thank you. I like to go off the beaten path so to speak and Sperry's Restaurant peaked my interest. It's located away from the hustle & bustle of Nashville which I prefer. The atmosphere reminds me of a dark place where you wanna be anonymous. It is seriously dim inside but uniquely decorated. It's loud as heck. You're crammed in there too. I literally could've gave the table beside me a big bear hug we were that close. The mirrors on the walls definitely made you need feel that cramped in. Our wait staff were amazing. Very energetic and on top of every detail. A+ for me. The menu is just enough truly. Beef, Fish & Seafood, Chicken, Lamb & Pork to the point. A wide variety of sides and sauces which I enjoy seeing on a menu. We chose Sperry's Wedge, Seared Filet Mignonette Tips and Bacon Wrapped Filet. Since my bariatric sleeve surgery I've not really enjoyed food like I used to do this was really a delight for me. The wedge salad was amazing. The crispy bacon and homemade blue cheese dressing was a sensation on the taste buds. FYI: all their dressings are house made. Yes!!!! The seared filet tips was on the appetizer menu and was a perfect portion size (although I only ate a couple bites of the stone ground grits). Our family loves a great steak and a family-friendly venue. Let's get into the review. We did not have reservations, and we went on a Saturday evening after a Globetrotter game. The wait was an hour, seats were available, and you could order drinks and sit at the front while you waited! The aesthetics are vintage/rustic and welcoming, and the lighting is dim. If you're blind, use your phone light like I did. The table seating was very compact, with limited space between tables. The music was appropriate but relatively loud. Now that food was terrific and we all enjoyed our meals, even our teenager who does not like steak! He gave the salad bar a 10/10! It's nothing fancy but enough! Honestly, it reminded me of the original Pizza Hut salad bar from the early 90's. Nothing fancy; buy enough to make a good salad! Our steaks were cooked to the right temperature. If we could change anything, it would be our interaction with the host and server's first interaction. The server was better as our evening continued. Great food in a fun, old school atmosphere! We came here on a Friday evening with a group of 7 and the place was hopping! They started us off with bread and then we got to make our way to the unlimited salad bar (with entree purchase). The salad bar was good with a few different options for toppings. I had the filet and shrimp entree and it was delicious. The steak had a great salty crust on the outside and was very tender. The shrimp were huge and were cooked perfectly. We shared the grilled asparagus as well which had a lot of flavor. We finished with the sticky toffee pudding cake which was okay but I would try something else next time. This is our 2nd trip to Sperry's in 3 days. The 1st time we came we were so pleased with our meal that we decided to take another trip from clarksville to Nashville, and once again we were not disappointed. The food, wine and atmosphere is fantastic, and we had a moment to meet the General Manager and he was such a pleasure to meet. The food is very consistent, and that explains how this business has survived for 50+ years. I made a reservation online for four people, and in the comments I wrote we would also need a high chair for a baby. When we got there, they would not seat us because there was a total of 5 of us (including the baby). I've made 10+ reservations to other restaurants where I've never added the baby into the guest count (11 months old). I even asked the restaurant we went to after, since Sperry's couldn't help seat us at all, and the manager agreed that they would've had their guests make a reservation for 4 and add a note regarding the need for a high chair. I understand mistakes and misunderstandings happen, but I was shocked that they couldn't help seat us at all. They said we could come back 2.5 hours later, which wouldn't work with our child's bedtime. My review should be a 1 star but we do really love it here. We were excited to bring our family visiting town, so this was a big let down. Online reservations should add a section to clarify if there are infants coming to create less confusion in the future. read more
