Came here in search of Taiwanese shaved ice. Usually I go to sinbala but it was past 2:30pm and they were closed for their lunch break. Luckily, Spiceology was a short 5 min drive away. Turns out they also have similar Taiwanese dishes at a cheaper price! Bento boxes, drinks, and Taiwanese shaved ice! For $8, you can get a shaved snow set, or you can build your own shaved snow with each topping added at an additional cost. We tried the mango shaved snow, and it was so refreshing! The shaved snow is mango flavored and topped with condensed milk. They give fresh mangos and warm rice balls on the side, and I liked it a lot! The rice balls were so soft and chewy. Glad to have discovered this place for my Taiwanese food fix! read more

FYI: CASH ONLY. Spiceology has become my go-to for comfort fried foods, especially before their recent price increase. I've tried their BYO fried rice with Taiwanese sausage ($4.95 base plus $2 sausage add-on), popcorn chicken ($3.95), fried tofu ($3.95), and fried tempura fish cake ($4.95). The BYO fried rice is great if you want a simple fried rice with particular desired add-ons. I didn't like the fried tempura fish cake too much, so on recent trips, it's been mainly 2 orders of the popcorn chicken (starter, not the popcorn chicken with rice) and 1 order of the fried tofu. All that for under $15! What an excellent value! On my most recent visit, I noticed new menus up with mostly the same type of dishes and updated prices. The popcorn chicken is now $5.25 and the fried tofu is now $4.99. Still a good deal and a little under or on par with the snack costs at boba shops. Part of their indoor seating is available for dine-in, but the booths are not. Still trying to find a good time to come back to try their shaved ice. Plenty of parking in the lot. read more

Been coming to this location since I was in a kid in middle & high school. Glad to see this place still open despite the pandemic. They are cash/Zelle only and their menu is very affordable! There is plenty of seating inside for a quiet space to work and hang with friends. The green tea snow (in my opinion) is the best snow dessert on the menu! The portion is big enough for 3-4 people. I ordered Togo here and the food was really good. The popcorn chicken spice is actually reasonably spicy for the spicy level. The bento boxes are reasonably priced and have a good portion. Taiwanese sausage is a classic and it taste like it should here. The pork stew is pretty much pork belly stewed for awhile and comes with more rice than meat. Still overall tasty! read more

My first time here was probably over 5 years ago, and it left such a good impression on me that i've been wanting to come back ever since. I remember the popcorn chicken and shaved snow blowing away all my expectations for such a small and unassuming shop from the outside.. but the food, especially at its crazy low prices, is truly unbeatable. I finally came again recently and once again left as a happy customer. We got an order of their popcorn chicken and spicy wontons to go, and it was yummy! Popcorn chicken was juicy and seasoned well, although the portions were slightly smaller than I remember.. However, for just around $5, I absolutely cannot and will not complain. Personally for me, the spicy wonton sauce could use a bit more flavor BUT the wontons were so silky and fresh, that I would get this again in a heartbeat. Can't wait to come back to try their bentos! As we all know, Covid-19 has severely impacted the way we eat, and while I'm sick and tired of eating in the car the end is in sight (just do your part to assist with the process). That said, you'll need cash to maka purchase and eat in the car but it's worth it! Needed a snack for the drive home in case there was gridlock so we did a search for "popcorn chicken" and picked Spiceology. Located in a small shopping center, parking is plentiful so that's good. We were greeted immediately and perused the extensive menu (definitely returning to try more). While popcorn chicken was predestined I thought the picture of the spicy wontons looked good. It took around ten minutes to get the order together and we downed the chicken in the car. Medium seasoning barely tipped oyr spice preference so I'm going 'hot' next time. The oily wontons looked like it might be too risky for clothes in the vehicle so that was enjoyed later at home. Wontons here are REALLY GOOD!! I liked the sweet flavors that balanced the hot chili oil. All said and done, just bring cash and enjoy! read more

I used to love this place, but over the course of the year, they've been scaling back their menu like crazy. There's almost no food to order. And they seem to avoid answering the phone. When we tried to order, they only had popcorn chicken, one other rice dish, one noodle dish, and one veggie. The woman who picked up was clearly annoyed, saying we were looking at an old menu. The most recent is from the end of September when they said they updated the menu. So all photos of the menu on Yelp are too old, and they have like 5 dishes now. Least to say this place's ambiance is non-existent. If you wanted to come and work it might be good for silence but it was uncomfortably silent for a restaurant otherwise. With that being said, the popcorn chicken only cost $5 and it was a decently sized amount. It is made in the classic Taiwanese style and...it was very juicy and delicious! I didn't have much expectations for this place, and only went because my son asked for some popcorn chicken. So I googled the nearest place for popcorn chicken, and this place popped up. The place was a bit dim as there wasn't much natural light coming in since it faces north, and the lighting inside was pretty scarce. She then told me that they used to play music videos or dramas on the TV, but then one customer demanded them to turn it off because it was too distracting for their kids to eat properly. Gosh, people are so entitled these days. Anyway, we proceeded to go order at the counter after checking out their simple menu. I chose the Taiwanese sausage bento and my son got the popcorn chicken bento. Both were very good. The popcorn chicken was very juicy and crispy. The Taiwanese sausage was very flavorful and juicy too. The bento boxes came with a side of corn, cabbage, and rice. The portions of the bentos were very good for the price, and we completely devoured them. We were already very full at the end, but we just had to try their shaved mango ice cream. And that was also very good. Overall, this place exceeded my expectations. And while I still find the atmosphere awkwardly quiet, I do intend to go back very soon. Best quality natural tasting Boba for sure! They use 100% pure Longang fruit honey and brown sure to sweeten their bobas, unlike others using bleached sugar or fructose syrup. I love the texture of their bobas ~ they are big and plumped , taste so natural and not plastic-like at all. I have been coming here for over 10 years and so happy they are close to my place . The three of us shared and there was plenty left over. The popcorn chicken was slightly chewy and had some crisp. Fries were hot and medium spicy as requested. Food is great. I really like their popcorn chicken in the bento box. I come usually for lunch and it comes with a free drink. The hours to get the free drink is from 11:30-2:30pm. Service is good. The man in the front is helpful. Place is nice and quiet for people to sit and study. Recommend people to come before 3 if they want a more relax atmosphere. I just wouldn't recommend their fries because they don't mix the spices. It's quite odd. I hope they can mix the spices rather than just putting on top. read more

Spiceology was a favorite hangout spot of mine throughout high school. It's priced well (especially for students) and has a large menu selection. Great for lunch or a snack! I love the popcorn chicken and chicken wings here! Their french fries are also pretty good. Their boba is by no means top tier, but still decent and very inexpensive. Spiceology gives large portions for low prices, and the extensive menu ensures that there is something for everyone! Parking is easy, as the restaurant is located in a plaza with a pretty large parking lot. I've been able to find a space easily every time I've driven. The only issue I can think of with Spiceology is that service can be a little slow. There aren't many workers, and orders can take a while to come out. However, the worker who usually works the register is very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. I would highly recommend Spiceology if you're looking for a casual meal or snack! The layers of the lean vs fatty part of the pork bring out vibrant flavors and textures. Spiceology is probably one of the best bangs for the buck Taiwanese snack restaurants. The strawberry snow was not very impressive with a rather artificial flavoring reminiscent of children's candy for about $6. On the other hand, the popcorn chicken was on par with other places like Quickly. They were crispy and flavorful with a weird sweet aftertaste that I could only imagine is the marinade and only cost about $4. As I continue my quest to eat at all the mom and pops Taiwanese food places in SGV, Spiceology was next on the list. It's located in the 99 cent store plaza, in the corner next to the 99 cent store. Food-wise, the menu is pretty much like other Taiwanese places, with lotsa bento boxes, and small appetizers like fried tofu, popcorn chicken, etc. They also have customizable fried rice on the menu which is different. My go-to at any Taiwanese places is fried chicken bento. And this place does not disappoint. I was surprised at the amount of protein in the bento box. There were 2 layers of fried chicken leg. We also ordered the boiled angus beef in spicy sauce, fried tofu, and fried tempura. These aren't the best I've had, but they're not disappointing either. The service was good. I was able to call the order over the phone, and show up 20 minutes later, food ready to go. The gentleman behind the counter was efficient and courteous. There is also a big drinks menu with a variety of boba, slushy, snow ice etc. I'm not big on drink, but definitely will be back when it's warmer for the snow ice. Overall I'm happy with my experience at Spiceology. If i'm in the area, I will definitely stop by again. read more
