The breakfast burrito was phenomenal! Definitely the best one I've ever had. The pumpkin pancakes were awesome; very light and fluffy. We were looking for a place that wasn't slammed on the Sunday morning of Fathers day and found this on yelp. Called ahead and were told we should be fine. We even got a seat outside. I had the excellent Croissant Benedict and my friend had the Duck Tamale with poached eggs. We split them half and half and were both very happy. The Duck Tamale was amazing and the eggs made it breakfasty. The Benedict was made with prosciutto and was yummy as well. Talk about a hidden gem. Spices is located behind Streets of London on Colfax on one of those wierd little triangles of land where 3 streets meet so you don't notice it unless you are actually looking for it. Came here today for something a little different, and was quite pleased. Very affordable compared to many similar places and absolutely no wait. Delicious food and terrific drip coffee. A little tricky to park, but for a Tuesday morning it wasn't bad. Might be rough on a weekend, especially if there's a crowd at Voodoo across the street. I will definitely be back. read more

Every time we eat here is awesome! The owner is always here and greets you and takes your order which shows he really cares about his restaurant! The food is great and super cheap for how much you get. The service is quick. And best of all you get to relax cause there is never a wait and you get to listen to classical music. Very good. This is little place off of the main street we stumbled upon using Yelp. My sister and I ordered sandwiches. Mine a chicken philly cheese steak and she tuna. The bread was fresh and crunchy and the sandwiches were tasty. Home made potato chips were the side of choice. Soothing classical music played in the background. read more

I judge all of my brunch spots on their biscuits and gravy and Spices was underwhelming. The gravy was watery and lacked flavor. My girlfriend had a smothered breakfast burrito which was pretty good. I ordered bacon as well and it was not very good either, it was thin and overdone. Nice spot if you want to grab a quick bite (No line) but there are better brunches in town for sure. read more

Unbelievable breakfast sandwich. The croissant was a buttery and flaky and taste the egg was folded with a piece of cheese that was perfectly melted in the inside. During my first visit to Denver I've discovered many eatery establishments. Spices Cafe was quite delightful! Our server was quite friendly and was very attentive. I ordered the gluten free pancakes with fruit topping and sausage. I was so delighted, I wanted to go again and have the same order. Unfortunately, they are closed for the holiday weekend and I am leaving Monday morning. Should I ever return to Denver, this will be the first place to which I will return. What a pleasure to find Spices Cafe! We went for brunch on Sunday -- and sampled all parts of the menu. The food was fantastic -- from the kid's meal order to the adults. We even had some special dietary needs, and Spices was able to meet them all. Seven very happy people enjoyed this special find. There is limited seating inside and out, but yet for a Sunday morning, nearly all seats were full, and people came and went the entire time with no one having to wait. This is not a fancy place, the ambience comes from the great times with others and the great food. The serving staff were quiet, but very attentive. read more

My daughter and I walked a distance to Spices in 18 degree weather, because their site ambiguously states that they are open December 31st, and to come celebrate the holiday with them - the mobile Yelp app incorrectly shows their Monday hours as 9am - 8pm. Apparently they closed at 3:00pm. That area is terrible for restaurant choices, so we were pretty let down when we realized we had no other options for a holiday dinner. In our experience, the food is very good here and so is the service. As other people point out though, the dining room is very small, and it can be uncomfortable to be so intimate with other diners. The weekend morning customers are often loud college kids, and it's like sharing someone's small kitchen with 5 - 15 of them. Pretty much keeps us from visiting much anymore. read more

I came here on recommendation when I was visiting in town for a few days. I'm glad I did! Quick service and a plentiful drink selection augment the tasty menu. I had the Huevos Rancheros and the breakfast burrito. The huevos held up to a high standard set by restaurants in the SF bay area, and the breakfast burrito is enormous and super juicy. I had previously reviewed Spices and wasn't happy. I've given it another chance (fairly uncharacteristic of me) and they have won me over. Every restaurant can have issues but this place's laid back order and pay first set up threw me off. The owner cares a lot about what he is doing and intends to make customers happy. After opening my mind for another try they are a unique favorite. Give them the chance and if you have an issue let him know, he is most always around. read more

My husband and I were looking for somewhere to eat brunch yesterday and stumbled upon this cafe while reading Yelp reviews. There were several not-so-great reviews about it being a small place, etc. We went on a day where it wasn't quite warm enough to sit outside (darn, because they have a nice patio) and there was room inside for us. I will admit, there wasn't much extra room, but we expected that after reading reviews and it didn't bother us. I love the fact that you just order your food from the counter. This allows you to leave whenever you want without having to wait to pay for a bill. My husband is a super picky vegetarian and he doesn't like to bother servers/chefs with all his extra requests so he usually just tries to find something small and easy that suits his needs. He ended up only ordering some hashbrowns and toast (sounds super boring, right?) and he LOVED the hashbrowns. I ordered the 1510 (two large pieces of French toast, two eggs any way, and bacon) with coffee. The 1510 is a great deal for $6.50 and it was delicious. They kept our coffee and water glasses full the entire time. We will definitely be back for brunch and I also hope to try something other than breakfast food there too. read more

I am not a big breakfast person, but I love this place. Excellent french toast, perfectly cooked eggs, crispy hash browns. I love their fried veggie burger and veggie sandwich. To top off how great their food is, it's super cheap! I wouldn't recommend a salad though. The one time I chose a salad over fries, the lettuce was old and wilted. Other than the salad, I have never had anything at Spice Cafe that wasn't perfect. read more

Wow.. When you walk in and blatantly are ignored typically a bad sign. Then as you are being ignored the closeted man at the counter is talking shit about the previous customer.. Wow extremely inappropriate.. He was complaining about a person smelling of marijuana... Any yet you walk in and are instantly overcome by the stench of cheap cologne... Very appalling.. Also if you have two customers and you ignore them and also rip on a previous customer be prepared for consumers to never ever visit again. read more

So if you want the BEST Buffalo Chicken Wrap in Colorado, this is the place. Only served about once a week, its worth a call to see when it is on the menu...., It was one of the best tasting wraps I have ever had and you will agree!!!!!! Wish there was an option for half stars, would prefer to rate 3.5 stars. All the reviews are accurate, imo, lovely little place with good food. Two things stuck out to me in my visit; The ordering system is kind of strange for a brunch restaurant. I prefer traditional waiting service. That's just a matter of preference, I guess. But as a result, we sat for ten minutes before the busser casually mentioned that we need to order ourselves inside. Ordered our food and it took about 30 minutes to get to the table, which for brunch, is extremely long. The reason I'm writing this review is because I ordered the 8oz sirloin with eggs. It was a burger patty. Literally a cooked burger patty. Was extremely disappointed to see everyone with awesome looking food and my sirloin was a dry hamburger patty. Update- got extremely sick after eating here. Gastroenteritis, have been throwing up and w/an upset stomach for the past day. read more

Love the place. They are my home away from home.......or should it be kitchen away from kitchen? I can eat there affordably, the variety is amazing, and the specials allow you to try something new and different that you might not ordinarily try. Never tried it for breakfast, but lunch and dinner have been reliably tasty, good portions, and a great change from the usual burgers and fries. And if you want burgers and fries, they can serve that up as well. Why cook when you've got Spices in the neighborhood? read more
