The noodles were pretty spicy and numbing so I recommend staying away from it if you dont have a high tolerance level. I've been here many many times the last 2 times something has changed besides the wait staff they must have changed cooks. I have had the little hot pot maybe 6 or 7 times yesterday it had a lot of nasty meat and stomach chunks as far as other items it had lost of sprouts and then just a few mushrooms of 2 types and a little fish mostly sprouts 3 pieces of bamboo. I also ordered the cold noodles the last 2 times it's taste is wrong from the other times, I'm not a cook so I'm not sure what's missing or changed.. what I do know is I lived in CQ for years and it's wrong. I was a bit upset when I realized my go to Szechuan restaurant that used to be in this location was gone but I was happy to find that Spicy Chong Qing, another Szechuan restaurant, took its place. The first thing that hits you when you walk in is how clean it is compared to the previous restaurant. It is very colorful and I liked the posters of the food on the wall. If you have ever been to Chongqing (Chungking) in China this place will not only wake up some of those old sleepy taste buds but it will also remind them of the taste and sensation of Szechuan pepper. If you are someone who enjoys spicy food, then give Spicy Chong Qing a try. I liked the balance between the Szechuan pepper and the red chilies in my food. The food was spicy but you could taste the flavor through the spice. I have had several different dishes here but my two favorites are the spicy fish and the cumin lamb. I have had cumin lamb before and it is something that I really enjoy when it is prepared properly. I can say that cumin lamb here was awesome. As they brought the cumin lamb to the table, I could not only smell the cumin, but I could actually taste it in my mouth. I really enjoyed the lamb and was happy that it was dry and not coated in a lot of oil as I have had at some other restaurants. I also liked that they served it over very fresh cilantro. The crispness of the cilantro with the lamb was great. The spicy fish was absolutely amazing. Seriously, I did not think that anything could top the cumin lamb but this fish dish was one of those things that you eat and you think to yourself that you did not expect it to be as good as it was and as you take a second bite to make sure you end up smiling. I am very picky when it comes to fish. I am not a fan of bones and I am happy to tell you there were no bones in the fish. The fish is not deep fried or coated, and you might think this means the fish would have a fishy taste, but that was not the case at all. It did not smell or taste fishy. The smooth texture of the fish was almost silky to my tongue and further added to the experience as I ate. I highly recommend this dish. The staff were polite and the food came out very fast. Decided to expand our food adventure beyond our comfort zone and went with Spicy Chong Qing which specializes in Sichuan cusine. We ordered the Spicy Chong Qing hot pot which was presented in a deep red broth packed with chili oil, pepper flakes, various mushrooms and vegetables. Also, proteins of fish filet, beef slice and pork organs, etc. Our appetite arose by the intense fragrant smell of garlic, chili pepper, star anise and other spices. The hot pot ingredients were very tasty, i.e. the veggie was crispy and the proteins cooked just right, very tender and moist and the tingly-numbing sensation in the mouth by pungent sichuan pepper corn really gave us an exciting new dimension of sensation of taste. Besides the spicy flavour, the broth is very tasty too and it goes well over rice. Second dish Garlic chive with pork tripe was also packed with chili pepper, the taste was very nice and unique. I came here with a large group of people from Chongqing. We made a reservation beforehand, thank goodness, because this restaurant is somewhat small and can get crowded quickly. They nicely had our table waiting for us upon arrival. When I asked my fellow diners about the authenticity of the Chongqing food here, the answers ranged from "Okay" to "Pretty good." I would call myself a loyal customer there since I eat here almost once week. The food is REALLY REALLY GOOD and not over priced. Some people mentioned the menu is lack of variety but I think they are doing great with what they have and that is better than some restaurants have thousands of dishes but only few tastes good. For our first time for lunch, I didn't feel like going spicy so I ordered the pickled veggie and thinly sliced pork sliver noodle bowl. It was mildly spicy from the ginger flavor in the pork broth. $6.99 for a good sized bowl..The scallion pancake was light and crispy and was decent in size for $3.99. My hubby had the Szechuan noodle bowl for $6.99 and the twice cooked Szechuan fried fish. Both were to his liking. For a small cafe, I was surprised by how yummy everything was... just minused one star for the slight language barrier and the lack of ac for a place that serves very hot food. Very disappointed today with this place. We've come here a number of times for the Chung king style fish and it has been consistently good. Service is always a bit spotty but the food was good. My friend and I had decided to come here for dinner after work and already knew what we wanted to order. I ordered the Fried Chicken with Hot Pepper and Dried Fry String Bean and my friend ordered the Pork Trip with Chives and Scallion Pancake. Rice didn't come with the entrees, so we had to order that too. There were a lot of things on the menu, but I wanted to start off with what I usually like to order. All the food came out looking really good, but not everything was as good as it looked. My friend liked her Scallion Pancake, which I didn't try, and we both agreed the string beans was the best thing we ordered. That had good flavor and texture. The Fried Chicken with Hot Pepper was our least favorite. The peppercorn taste that this entree had was too powerful. I've ordered this entree at a few other restaurants before, and I am aware that it has this peppercorn taste to it, but it was too much here. It numbed our tongues to the point that we can barely taste and enjoy the rest of our food. My friend thought the Pork Tripe and Chives tasted like peppercorn too, but I couldn't tell, since my tongue was all numb. And the chicken pieces were small in the Fried Chicken with Hot Pepper entree; it was like just eating fried batter. I would probably come here again, but definitely try something else. read more

I love Sichuan food so when I heard a new restaurant opening up in the Great Wall complex, I was super excited to try it out although Sichuan First right next door is usually my go to spot. Had the cold noodles which were superb however the rest of the meal not as great unfortunately. We got a veggie dish that lacked in flavor, the dry pot chicken that was mostly bones and hard to eat, and a bean sauce pork that was just ok (sorry don't know how to say this in English). Maybe we didn't order the right items and their menu seemed to have new dishes that I haven't seen at local Sichuan places before like the roasted fish that I didn't get to try. Also service was a little slow but that's probably because they are new and trying to get into the flow of things. For now I think I will just stick to Sichuan First. read more

Chong Qing, the city famous for spicy food, is where my Grandparents live at. I visited that city so many times therefore know well what good and right spicy food should be like. I visited Spicy Chong Qing last Saturday and ordered three dishes. Each and every one of them was fantastic. The cold dish of chicken with Green Pepper, gives my tongue and lips the numbing feeling, which reminds me of home. The SuanCai (Pickled Vegi) Fish, is so full of flavor. The flavor lingers after each bite. Lastly, the pepper dish. They cooked the pepper so well, amplifying the texture of the peppers, which was exactly what I wanted. Therefore, we visited on the second day again. It was just as good as the first time. Spicy Chong Qing is the best Chinese spicy food I have had so far around Seattle area. The menu lacks variety. If I had to guess about 60-70% of the menu is fish prepared in some kind of way in some kind of spicy sauce. I happened to stop by because the wait for a nearby restaurant was too long and I was kind of disappointed. I was hoping for a variety of choices either the spice but it was mostly fish. They also don't sell veggies family style. The only veggies provided are scarce and part of other meat or fish dishes. The picked veggie fish soup was very good and a very good deal at around $12 and the scallion pancake was fresh made. It's a really niche place and if Szechuan cuisine isn't a favorite of yours, this place will take some getting used to for sure. Service was average and speed of food delivery was as well. Just went here today with my girlfriend and I can say the food was SUPERB! We had the fried chicken with hot peppers and beef boiled in hot soup. The fried chicken was so crispy on the outside and very succulent on the inside (it tastes even better accompanied with rice hehe). The boiled beef had a soft texture and was soothing to the soul once the broth reached your tummy. Lastly, I had seen a lot of reviews about lousy service.
