Came here on Friday night. We passed by a few restaurants with lines out the door and were super grateful that this place was not crowded and we got seating right away. That being said this place was awesome and should have had a wait, people just dont know yet! We loved the beet and arugula salad, a usual order for us but we really enjoyed their version of it. We had the Trio and sampler appetizer as well. The babaganoush was extremely flavorful and the pork shoulder was our top pick of the meats. I was not super thrilled by the sauces that came with the meats but the BF liked them. He was super excited to come back again. read more

My 4 stars are for the food ONLY. We got Mochi Chicken Sando, beet salad and St. Louis Ribs Ribs were a little tough, and I didn't take detect any flavor?? It was served with BBQ sauce, but very little (we had to ask for more) the side was delicious. Now let's talk about service: omg was there any!? Our server never greeted us. So I can't tell you her name. In hindsight, perhaps that was her tactic lol I know I certainly wouldn't share my name if I were this bad at this job! Holy moly I can't even fathom leaving a tip and I'm typically a 20% tip sorta gal, across the board, and more if the service is exceptional. She was dropping food at the table next to ours when my 2 yr old dropped her water. She some how was completely oblivious to us scrambling to clean it. We had to flag her for more napkins. I asked about the texture of the steak and she said she couldn't describe it. How can you not know if the cut is a more tender cut or a bit more chewy (thinking about my toddlers again) She dropped the food off at the table and spilled most of the juice on the ground as she was putting down 1 plate (she was literally only carrying 1 plate, how did she manage that!?) She never came back to check in if we needed anything. I had to flag a different server for more BBQ sauce, and water. So so bad. I feel sorry for the service industry if they had to resort to hiring someone who has clearly no business being in this industry Anyway, maybe get your food to go. read more

This was our first visit and it won't be our last. We decided to stop by because the bacon edamame and mochiko chicken dishes caught our eye. Both were delicious and I would get them again! The bacon edamame had a mouth watering garlic and black vinegar sauce that I wanted to lick the bowl. The chicken sando was juicy and tender. My husband got the tsukune sando. This place is new but already a classic. It's been open just a little more than a week, yet it's already mobbed, due to the great food at fair prices. The meats are all rotisseried-they have black pepper flank steak, pork shoulder, St. Louis style pork ribs, and Koji chicken. The influences are Japanese, Korean, and a bit of South Asian, but the flavors are really just all theirs. We shared a "pickle" plate with cabbage and daikon radish kimchi, crisp crushed cucumbers with garlic and red pepper flakes, and pickled red onions. This was a great balance to the richness of the meats. My spouse had the Triple plate, giving him generous portions of the pork shoulder, flank steak, and chicken. Everything was moist, tender, and delicious; and all benefitted from a dunk in the wonderful chimichurri sauce. My pork ribs were so perfectly cooked and so yummy that I never even bothered dipping them into the BBQ sauce that was provided. The space is nicely laid out, with great views of the giant rotisserie, gender neutral bathrooms, and what looks like will eventually be a patio for outside dining. Service was friendly and efficient. We will be back, if we can get a seat!! read more

Went here for Restaurant Week, as we like to support local businesses, but we were disappointed by this one. The specialty here is Rotisserie Meat. My server recommended the half chicken, which I ordered. I would rate it better than Safeway Rotisserie, but nothing really special. It initially came out luke-warm, and I had to send it back. My wife ordered the restaurant week special ramen for $20. It was very average ramen, and a bit heavy on the salt and fat. The worst part of the meal, though, was the atmosphere, service and presentation. The restaurant is a crowded hole in the wall. I don't mind eating in a dive if the food is special. But with average food and lousy atmosphere, we were wishing we had stayed home. Also, the service was totally disorganized and rushed. Within about 5 minutes of ordering, we had one of our entrees. The second showed up 5 minutes later. The beers we ordered to start with came mid meal, and the broccoli side dish came at the end of the meal. So much for a relaxing night out! read more

First and most importantly, we picked up our to go order, two weeks ago on a Sunday, and no one was wearing masks, not the cashier and not the chef, since you can see into the kitchen. I mentioned it to the cashier who said: I don't worry about it. Well, I worry about it! This is both imperilling to the employees and to their customers, and the law requires masking. SO MASK!! Ribs were tasty, dry, and too small a portion for $21, cauliflower was good, nothing to knock your socks off, but good, and the corn fritters had something that tasted like Smucker's jam, not at all what I would have paired with corn fritters, for a sauce. It was such an unsuccessful choice of accompaniment that made us wonder if they ran out of their usual sauce. It would have been much better with a kind of tamarind sauce (if they were after something sweet) or a mint or cilantro chutney. read more

Small clean modern restaurant. Friendly staff. Ordered the trip trio which comes with 1/4 chicken , pork shoulder and beef with two dipping sauces and a small portion of pickled arugula. One dipping sauce is chimichurra and the other is a mild spicy sauce. I have had better chimichurra sauce so I wasn't blown away by the sauces. It needed more depth. We also ordered the side of corn and it was amazing. I wish they served the whole kernel with that amazing sauce ! It was finger looking good ! My favorite of the meats were the pork shoulder and chicken. The beef was chewy and dry and I would not order that again. I will definitely come back and order the chicken or pork shoulder as a main entree and try the beet salad. The salads looked really good. So glad this place has opened up here. Tonight I have a new fave restaurant in Alameda and it's this one. Came in with hubs and my youngest daughter after her taekwondo practice. I like it because the menu selection has a mix of Korean and Japanese influences. Ordered corn, chicken lickin, black pepper beef and their pork ribs. Then for dessert we had mochi caramel cake and dark chocolate peanut butter something. Everything is just sooooooooo GOOD. We all said it's a do over. We have to go back and try the rest of the menu. Got some take out tonight. My meat eating hubby said it was really good. I had salad, yummy and the rice. Also yummy, although I added some Oaktown Spice Umami salt. Pickled egg was ... interesting. Shishito peppers were good. The usual, blistered nicely. So if you love meat, this is your place. Alameda needs this place. This little gem is a welcome addition to Alameda's burgeoning food scene. Why? Because the food is delicious, fresh, and uniquely seasoned. Everything is so yummy, especially the rotisserie chicken. Thus it is incredibly moist, that it practically falls off the bone, as does the pork shoulder, and steak. Also, this is a FANTASTIC date night spot, as my parner and I have had myriad date nights at this spot, and they NEVER disappoint! Seriously, check them out! You'll thank me later. read more

My friend and I tried this place tonight. We were excited to try a new place. By the time it was over, we swapped excitement for hunger. We ordered our drinks, our appetizer and our food. Drinks came. Hurray. Appetizer came. Yummy. Dinner never joined the party. After being at the table for an hour, our waiter came to us and said "sorry, you wanted the prime rib? And what did your friend want?" It was clear he hadn't submitted our order yet. Mind you, when we showed up, the place was pretty empty. While we sat there, all of the tables filled up around us. Others ordered and began receiving their appetizers and dinners while we sat starving. My friend finally confessed that the table behind me had almost finished their prime rib, which they ordered long after we had. After all, we were seated before them. Finally, our waiter came back and told us that the kitchen was backed up. To be fair, he said he was sorry, that it was his fault. But at the same time, he didn't rush our order. We still sat there and watched the rest of the tables be served their dinners. So we left. UPDATE: After we went down the street to the local bar to commiserate, the general manager found us, apologized profusely, bought us a round and asked for a second chance. We are pleased that he acknowledged the mistake and that he wanted to make it up. That's all we really wanted. We understand that mistakes happen. Best rotisserie chicken on the island hands down. If you love beets like I do make sure to order the beet and arugula salad. My husband tried the beef plate which was delicious but I still preferred the out of this world chicken. To end the wonderful dinner my husband and I split the chocolate peanut butter dessert. I honestly struggled with this rating since in my own taste the food was a 2, but if I liked the way they seasoned and prepared the foods I could see some going as high as 4 . They lose a star for service irregardless First what's best is the trips triple chicken- moist and flavor, impeccably clean But the triples pork was so-so as was the St. Louis ribs. Nothing wrong but really not a great profile. The flank steak was borderline inedible For sides, the rice was pretty good but the slaw was disappointing as was the Napa slaw. The potato salad was a retry good but bland I'd steer away, too, from the corn fritters and the chicken licking which were both "ok" but not worth the price point Panna cotta was watery with a funky granola topping and the coconut mochi cake - meh Gave it a fair shot. I so wanted to love this place and hauled the whole fam down here. We ordered the prime rib special and the triple, which is basically their entree sampler. We also ordered the ribs. Everything was about average to be honest. The chicken was decent but not seasoned enough throughout. The steak was a bit on the tough side. The ribs were probably the best thing on the menu we tried. They were tender and had a good flavor. The prime rib was basically raw and the server never asked how we wanted it cooked. Went there for the first time on a Friday night about 8:30. The place was pretty full, but starting to clear out, so we only waited for a couple of minutes for a table. The tables have a beautiful warm wood top. And the chairs have a wood seat, which is very much appreciated. Can't stand sitting on cold metal chairs. The service was spot on and cheery. Had a beet salad, fresh crab rice, pork ribs with potato salad. Everything was super fresh and delicious. The ribs were super tender. I'll be back. This restaurant is best served as a family style. As the new kid on the block serving traditional American fare with an eclectic twist. We really enjoyed was the well prepared pepper steak and the trio platter. The steak was succulent and the overall winner in my view. Wonderful outdoor patio for dining. The chicken appetizer is a decent version of chicken karage. Their entree has some good basic meat offering. One dish had a triple meat offering of a quarter chicken, flank steak, and pork shoulder and salad. It was more generous than I expected. I think two persons (who normally eat ~2000 calories) could share it. The pork shoulder was quite good, the flank steak and chicken were not bad, but not particularly memorable. It's what you might expect from a decent bistro-type restaurant. The vanilla panna cotta portion was also larger than what I've seen in any other restaurant! It was served in a plastic tub! At least three people could share it after a meal. It was merely OK, however. While not bad, it probably rank last among the panna cottas I've tried. I think it would be worthwhile for the team to work on their recipe before serving this to customers again. Overall, I appreciate the generosity of all the servings. I 1st visited this place right after they opened, I was not impressed. Food was good, service was good, but not exceptional for the prices. This was pre COVID, dine in experience. I ordered pick up a couple nights ago, wow they have really dialed this food in!! Ordered the mochiko chicken and the burger with lettuce wrap with fries. All were cooked to PERFECTION, they even packed them right so the fries did not become soggy on the way home. Highly reccommended. Tried this new place on Friday night. (Be prepared to wait a bit, it's small) We got lucky and sat on the bench for a drink while we waited. Nice ambience, and well priced wine. (I love that they have a 6 oz or 9 oz glass. I've never seen that before and it was perfect to order a glass of wine and have it last for apps and dinner!) We started with the Chicken Lickin', which was really good (AND my gluten free child could eat it!) and the chopped salad complete with a sous vide egg- amazing! We shared the ribs at the recommendation of the server- very tender and well seasoned. My gluten free, dairy free child (I know, I know, it's painful for this poor kid) had lots of options at this restaurant, which is rare! He ordered the kids bento, which was a choice of meat (he got the ribs) edamame and a vegetable, I think it was only $10. Perfect size and he loved it! He even had dessert-this never happens, no one has gluten and dairy free dessert- except here. I think it was a mochi cake with caramel sauce- really good! All in all: delicious, well-priced, and a great menu! And they JUST opened! I can only imagine it will continue to improve! A great addition to this end of Park Street! read more

Had the crab garlic noodles. We love the crab but the noodles were a bit overdone and the sauce was on the salty side. Can cut back on the sauce about 30%. We will still come back and try the crab fried rice when you have it! read more
