I ordered the kim chee fried rice and it was pretty good. It was $13.99 and you get bacon, teriyaki pork, two eggs and rice with kim chee. They have a few tables in the center of the area for seating. Definitely not a lot of tables but if you come after lunch time you might get lucky. Watch out for the birds and don't feed them. I saw a few people feeding them and it just attracted more birds lol. In the same area they have a small market that offers all different types of items from food to clothes. There's also a bakery that serves malasadas so if you don't want to make the drive, you could buy some here. Overall, first time coming here and would definitely come back. read more

We came here for thanksgiving as all the fancy places we wanted to eat at were either not open or booked. All dressed up we ordered probably way too many meals but as we couldn't decide we feasted on their thanksgiving special (seriously best turkey, stuffing, mashed potato and gravy), the short rib (wow! I ordered the Famous burger. It was a very delicious burger with bacon and a slice of pineapple and curly fries on the side. This place is closeby, and as we were walking around the area, I spotted their display of malasadas. We ordered 6 MOCHI MALASADAS between my friend and I, 2 of which were wasted because our eyes were bigger than our tummies! Don't make the same mistake. These malasadas are very filling! Plus, there are many other Hawaiian desserts to try, and you only have one tummy. So, only buy 1...okay fine, maybe 2, unless you make this a meal by itself, then eat 5! The Mochi Malasadas were good. However, you get sick of it after eating one, because it is overly coated with sugar. I had to wipe-off a lot of the sugar, because it was overwhelmingly sweet. The malasadas weren't warm and fresh. I think it had been sitting out for a while. It was still good though, but it was hard on the outside, and not even relatively soft like a fresh mochi donut that I'm used to. Not much service interaction here. This place is a walk-up counter style of ordering. You stand in line, tell the lady at the counter your order, she packs it up, and then you pay at the register. This place is located inside the Duke's Lane Market and Eatery. Not much of an ambiance. The entire food court itself was busy, and there was a bit of a line when we came. The Loco Moco here is fantastic! I ordered the "premium" with both wagyu beef and shaved prime rib and boy did it hit the spot! Between the two, I have to say I enjoyed the wagyu beef the most. The two meats were served on a huge bed of rice and covered in rich, delicious gravy. Hawaiian comfort food at its absolute finest! (Seriously, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.) The portion size was so large that I had plenty left over to enjoy the next day. Quick place to grab food that's is conveniently close to my hotel. Not a long wait in line to order and not a long wait for the food to be ready. I got the fried chicken plate with mashed potato and pesto pasta as the side. The chicken was crispy and the batter was salty. TL:DR - Only tried the milk boba mochi malasada and it wen broke da mout! If you haven't had malasadas before then you should get some malasadas after this. Leonards is just a stones throw away and is totally worth trying, BUT that's another story. Spitfire is located in a small food court like area and besides being able to order malasadas you can get an assortment of side dishes, poke bowls, and sandwiches. BUT the real gem is the mochi malasada. It's a nice twist on the classic flour malasada, where instead of a bread-y texture you get the chewy texture of mochi. By the time we got there the ube and mango malasadas were already sold out, and only original and milk boba were left. We went with the milk boba and were surprisingly impressed. It tastes exactly like milk tea and boba! The texture is crispy crunchy on the outside and nice and chewy on the inside. It could be a bit sweet for some people not accustomed to both the exterior and interior being sweetened. Overall I liked it and finished it off in like 2 bites. I'll definitely be back for the other flavors. I just wished getting there wasn't so difficult, but alas that's just Waikiki in general. read more

Spitfire offers burgers, sandwiches, flatbread pizza, rotisserie chicken/duck, and poke. We opted for a burgers and poke during the visit. The Cajun Burger is decent and has a good sauce that has some heat. Nothing really spectacular and I'm not sure it's really that authentic Cajun. The side of fries is good--thin and crispy. With poke, there's a small for $11 and a large for $15. There's an option to mix two fish choices. Mine is spicy ahi, which has sriracha, onions, and sesame oil among the ingredient. It's fresh and nice. Pretty basic bowl without a lot of accoutrement. I liked it. 3.5 stars. The staff was super friendly and helpful. read more

For the past 7 years, we usually go to Waikīkī Beach on August 24 to watch the birthday lei draping ceremony of Hawai'i's famous waterman, Duke Kahanamoku, statue AKA Duke's Day. Also, during the month of August, the annual Duke's Oceanfest holds events celebrating Duke Kahanamoku's life and athletic contributions and accomplishments on the global and local scales. This year, however, the Oceanfest was canceled due to the pandemic, and Duke's Day was reduced to just a handful of well-wishers and supporters. By the time we arrived at Duke's statue, the lei draping ceremony had just ended but we managed to capture the handsome bronze statue resplendent in fragrant flower leis. Since we were already in Waikīkī to celebrate Duke's Day, we made a plan to have brunch at Basalt restaurant located in Duke's Lane & Market on Kūhiō Avenue. I didn't make any reservations but maybe it was a good thing that I hadn't because walking into Duke's Lane & Market, our eyes and olfactory senses were distracted to Spitfire Rotisserie & Flatbread. Sitting their deli case was fresh out of the spit a whole chicken and lechón (roasted pork) AAAANND malassadas. But, hold on, today's special malassada was filled with haupia cream, and sitting in bowls nearby were Spitfire's recently debuted mochi malassadas (ube and mango). I stopped my husband from walking up to Basalt's hostess to check-in and suggested we try Spitfire Rotisserie & Flatbread as there was open and socially distanced seating available. We got in line to place our order for a plate lunch and for those malassadas. Hey, we knew that our 7-mile walk would burn off some calories! LOL. FOOD: - Lechón plate lunch: I didn't see lechón listed on their menu and assumed that the $12.99 price tag in front of the roasted pork listed was by weight. Well, I was wrong because, for $12.99, we got a healthy portion of lechón with its potato chip-like crackling skin with choices of rice or mashed potatoes and mixed greens or macaroni salad. We chose mashed potatoes and mixed greens. I think this lechón was Cebu-style as its seasonings to a bit herbal (bay leaf) and well-seasoned more than just salt and pepper. Also, the condiments that were provided were the typical Filipino salsa (tomato, onion, and vinegar/fish sauce?) and silimansi. The meat was tender and tasty, its fat layer jiggled when bit or cut into. But, that pork skin was like crunching into a porky potato chip. With each bite, snap, crackle, and crunch could be heard. My husband and I shared this lunch plate and WIPED it clean! - Monday Special Malassada: Haupia (Hawaiian coconut pudding) filling caught my eyes, er, taste buds, more than my husband. But, just in case, I ordered 2 pieces to try. These malassadas are made in-house and were more bread-like and somewhat denser (in a good way) in texture unlike airy puffs at Leonard's. It was still warm and fresh when the server boxed it so we left our pastry box ajar to vent. This was a tasty Portuguese donut but we felt that the haupia filling was a bit skimpy. $1.50 each. - Mochi Malassadas: for some odd-reason or do I need a reason? I have been "stuck" on mochi (Japanese sticky sweet rice cakes) so trying these recently debuted malassadas was a no-brainer for me. Today, they had ube and mango flavored mochi malassadas and we bought 2 of each flavor. Both were warm and fresh from the fryer, too. Their respective flavors were balanced although ube (sweet potato) flavor was subtle while the mango malassada was sweeter as it's made with mango purée. There was a nice chew, sponginess, and springiness to the fried mochi without much "gut-bomb" heaviness. $1.49 each. We enjoyed Spitfire Rotisserie & Flatbread deli in Duke's Lane and Market and look forward to trying their other plate lunches or pastries again. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I work across the street and I get my breakfast here 2 to 3 times a week because of the low price and accessibility. Recently since COVID, all of the prepared breakfast bentos are gone and everything is "made to order". Which causes the food to take 10-20 minutes instead of instant. Okay, fine. That is a great incentive:) I have visited many times, and the employees are very kind. It's hard to communicate at a 6 feet distance while both of us are wearing masks. One of the orders came out wrong due to the muffling, but they fixed it right away:) I ordered the kunia burger, fried chicken sandwich multiple times, and the kalua pork loco moco. Some times food that is take out translates to well done, oily, and dried up. In this case they executed the kalua pork loco moco with my sunny side up eggs perfectly. This one will put you in a food coma. Pork is tender, eggs run once poked, and mushroom gravy is slightly salty. It was great and tasty with the acidity of sweet onions. The fried chicken sandwich can be a hit or miss. One day it's moist and tender, and another day tough and hard. I liked the fact that they give customers a choice between curly and regular fries. As for the burger... I think I came on a off day. Overall, I would definitely come back to try their other food offerings!!! I am so sad! My husband and I used to come to the burger bar here at Dukes Lane ALL the time, probably once every 1-2 weeks for the last nine months, so it kills me to write this review. We knew it was different walking in due to the different menu displayed across the TVs, and they were willing to ring us up at any register at the store. With a small glimmer of hope, I asked if they are still don't the ono burger or teri burger, alas they were not and had a whole new menu. I did the most basic burger available and asked to add egg and replied medium for how I want both the egg and patty cooked. It took a bit longer but I'm not reviewing their store, their employees, or the time it took to get my food; I'm reviewing the meal. It. Was. Awful. My fries were still slightly raw. The bun was cold, smashed, and SUPER soggy. The worst part was the egg. It was incredibly undercooked. I'm so sad because it's likely the same employees, same kitchen, but different management and materials. I'm fine with sunny side up but there was a substantial amount of raw clear egg white/protein on the burger. If we didn't live 5 blocked away we would have brought the food back. My kids kept picking this place because it was conveniently located inside of Duke's Lane and there is boba at Teapresso inside of Duke's Lane. Right across from Marukame Udon. Very good spot on Waikiki and walkable to many hotels. I never saved any of my receipts but the bottom part does say save receipts for a gift. I definitely should have considering I ate here like a million times! I think my absolute favorite thing about this place is how much time I saving by ordering here. It's basically deli style. Some stuff you can pick and add to your cart. Some stuff ready hot. Some stuff they can easily warm up. Some stuff they can easily prep. Some stuff they can whip up hella fast in their kitchen. I love it! There's so much! There really is something for everyone! We decided to grab dinner here since it was super close to our hotel and the reviews seemed pretty good, but didn't really know exactly what to expect with this quick service restaurant. Unfortunately, we did not have a great experience with the food here. We ordered the Teriyaki Chicken with Potato Macaroni Salad and the Kim Chee Fried Rice with Teriyaki Pork. I was a bit hesitant to order the Kim Chee Fried Rice from a place that doesn't specialize in Korean cuisine, but I was really craving it. Well, my hesitations were right as it did not taste anything like the traditional dish. Things that just did not make sense was that there was a lot bacon and the kimchi looked and tasted like plain cabbage soaked in vinegar. The dish was extremely salty and gave me a sore throat. I couldn't even finish the dish... I will say that the Teriyaki Pork was decent in flavor, but also not commonly paired with Kimchi Fried Rice. The Teriyaki Chicken was decent also, but the Potato Macaroni had oddly large pieces of potato which meant you didn't really get much else in the salad. We've discovered our new go-to place for "anything with a hamburger patty" when in Waikiki. For breakfast, we enjoyed their Loco Moco Supreme - hands-down, the best! Generous amount (my husband and I shared a plate), value at $10, and that char-broiled hamburger patty was the star. Try their mochi malasada too to top off your morning meal. On a recent trip back home, my daughter and I went wandering around trying to find something for dinner. I was happy to have stumbled upon this place. I only wish we found it earlier in our trip. The staff was friendly and it was a welcoming change from the customer service we receive in AL. At first we only grabbed the pre-packaged fried noodles but while waiting to pay, we noticed hat they had kim chee fried rice and poke bowls.
