This place opens at 7am, which is ideal for perma-jet lagged mainlanders like me and over several days we kept coming back for more. Oh wow this place has a little bit of everything. Roasted Duck, four kinds of poke, burgers with garlic fries, salad, Mac n cheese, and everything nice. We just landed in Oahu and we were hangry. We walked to three different poke places and ended up here. I ordered everything on the menu. The Ahi poke was really good over rice, I got a passion fruit guava juice. We got the half roasted duck, the chili garlic fries, the Ono burger, salad with Hawaiian dressing, mac n cheese, and two large orders of poke. We ate everything. This is only a review for their donuts. I came here in the morning because I saw this cool app (Ripples) that allows you to make latte art using any picture you want. That was at a the coffee shop right next to Spitfire. Both are located in Dukes Market and Eatery, which is a cool concept of a small specialty market and a small handful of restaurants- sorta like a mini food court, but cooler. Anyhow, went to the coffee shop for the latte art, and while walking around looking at the other places, saw Spitfire. I guess this is mainly a grill which serves burgers and sandwiches as their main. As it was early, they had breakfast (which looked pretty decent actually), and their donut of the day- chocolate mochi! They resembled the famous (original mochi donut) Pon De Ringu from Mr Donuts in Japan whom I'm a huge fan of, so I had to try these. They had plain chocolate and with strawberry glaze and white chocolate, so I did what was my natural duty- and ordered one of the each! Took them to-go, and walked a few blocks down to complete the other mission of the morning, kouign amann at Kona Coffee Purveyors. The mochi doughnuts were good, but not impressive or surprising. I wouldn't say disappointed, because a mochi donut is better than no donut, and that's what we have on the Big Island. I was happy to get something that looked similar to Mr Donuts, and that was enough for me. I would say it satisfied, but just enough for a three star rating. If I were walking by at lunch or dinner, I may be tempted to try their burgers, as that looks like it's what they are known for. read more

I went to Spitfire as I normally do weekly to have dinner. It's not the best meal, but it's decent enough. I like the crispy chicken sandwich and curly fries. Despite COVID-19, I have been going there with a face shield. The mayor's mandate states specifically that masks are required, but those with medical conditions do not have to wear a mask, but face shields are recommended. I have been wearing a face shield consistently and keep it on whenever I frequent am establishment and this place is no different. I have been doing it for several weeks. Unfortunately, today Kido told me I cannot be in their establishment without a mask. He even asked me for a certificate regarding my disability. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, I am supposed to be provided EQUAL access, but they told me I cannot enter their store because of the mandate even though the mayor was specific on the exemptions. Spitfire blatantly discriminates and does not give equal access to all despite the Americans with Disabilities Act. If you're looking for different types of food to suite your family, this is the place to go! They have flatbreads, Poke, and burgers and fries! Let's start off with the staff. The staff is super friendly and will answer any questions you may have. If they have a recommendation and you're feeling adventurous, give it a shot! I had the Hawaiian Poke at a different place and I really liked it. I wanted to have it again, but try something else as well so I ordered the spicy ahi Poke. The cashier asked if I wanted to do half and half and it was a great suggestion! As I was eating, already loving the taste, the chef offered me some shoyu to put on the Hawaiian side. I thought "man it's already so perfect", but I decided to give it a try. It completely brought a new flavor I haven't had before with Poke. No regrets. My wife got the vegetarian flatbread and she loved it! I'm not much of a flatbread or vegetable guy, but they did a really good job with it. The flatbread was nice and crisp and they loaded it with vegetables which gave it a lot of substance. This will be enough to feed 2-3 people depending on how hungry you are. I was really excited to try out Spitfire and thought it was an interesting place to eat for breakfast. For the Spitfire chicken Sandwich meal, the fries were acceptable and absolutely delicious, however the fried chicken breast was well overdone and not even that crispy. Their special sauce felt just like a mixture of ketchup and mayonnaise. Nothing special to it. Don't understand why there was a red stamp saying that this was recommended... Wouldn't order this again unless the chicken was less dry and more tender. As for the kimchee fried rice, nothing much to it. Seemed really unoriginal. Although the flavor was marking it, the rice was very much like mochi and the beef that came with it was also very dry. We had the Ono Beef Burger (mine was medium rare) and the Toga fries (garlic and togarashi). The Ono is a 4 oz wagyu beef patty, cheddar cheese, Hawaiian Island dressing, with fresh lettuce and tomato. It was very tender and we added a side of pork belly. The fries were hot, crispy and very tasty. The togarashi had a little kick but not too spicy. It was the perfect side to the burger. I waited for a long time for my order and the reason it appears to be is that they forgot to put my nuggets in the fryer. I was told the nuggets take 5 minutes and a couple of minutes later I see the cook put a handful of nuggets in the fryer. We got 6 nuggets which I think is too much. heard that another customer state he got the nuggets too so I'm guessing the cook put two orders in the fryer and the person who put the dishes together put both orders in one order. 6 nuggets for $10 doesn't sound right to me. Spitfire is a mishmash of burgers, flatbread, roast chicken, and local food. my family and I had dinner here a couple of times during our trip because the food was really delicious. I had the loco Moco which is considered a local dish. It had wagyu beef, rice, fried egg and mushroom gravy... and I was shocked how much a liked it. I've never had Loco Moco but my toddler and I throughly enjoyed it... I've never seen my 2 year old gobble his food so fast! My husband had the chicken burger and he also loved his meal. There were also a lot of tables and chairs for guests to sit down on and have their meals. We had Chicken Pesto Flatbread and the Orange Chicken, both entrees were good but at lunch time it was very crowded and there were so few places to sit that it was a complete debacle. When we asked if we could sit outside behind the restaurant (which was completely empty) we were told that it was for the other restaurant that had a huge seating area and exactly one booth occupied (no one was in that restaurant).
