Great friendly service. Nice clean environment. I took my jeans there for alterations and was instructed to go to the back to chat with the seamstress. I knew exactly what inseam length I needed so I told her 32" regular hem, no crease. I had asked for hem with originals out of habit and she took a look and there was no distressing so she told me to just do regular hem since with originals is more expensive. Great! I thought. She told me to come back in a week to pick them up. When I picked them up, I checked the hems and the stitching is a bit crooked. It's just hems so I don't really care as much, but growing up with a seamstress for a mom, and having hemmed my own jeans in the past... it really isn't that hard to sew with the machine in a straight line. Granted the settings need to be particular since the elastic in the jeans and thickness of the material makes it trickier to sew, but it just seems like it was a rushed job. She did color match the thread, so for that I'm happy, but uneven stitching *shakes head*... I'm sure they would fix it if I asked, but I'd really just can't wait to wear them! I'd probably only come back for dry cleaning. Personally I can't recommend getting your designer denim hemmed here. Maybe I should have stuck with Bal Tailoring in WLA. read more

My wife and I have been bringing our cleaning here for 5 years. I've had a few jeans hemmed and a blazer taken in here as well. They do good work, as long as you tell them EXACTLY what you want. If you don't want creases, or an item MUST be dry cleaned, or anything else, you have to be very clear. Henry is the best up in the front. An extremely friendly guy - always remembers our names. I can see why some of the bad reviews have been given, and I can't completely disagree with some of them. But, we've learned that as long as you tell them what you need, and watch them pin a note or add it to the computer, things will be returned just fine. Oh, and make sure if you need something turned in sooner rather than later, when they ask (for example) is Friday ok, and you need it sooner, just tell them. 9 times out of 10 they will accommodate your request with no extra charge. read more

I've never had anything but good results from the dry cleaning business. The alterations, however, leave much to be desired. Took in two pairs of jeans to be hemmed. On one pair, I asked if the original hem could be sewn back on. The seamstress assured me that it would be ok. When I went to pick up, she told me that it "turned out" it wasn't possible. Both pairs had a hemline that looks like it was made with a slightly shaky hand, i.e. not a totally straight line. Not horrible, but certainly not the best (or better) I've seen. read more

They may seem a lil agro but I think it's just the culture difference. The man who took my laundry had a thick accent and was older and seemed grumpy but wasn't mean or out of line in any way. I wouldn't take it to heart. The man who rang me up was very sweet. It does take a bit to get your items back. I dropped off on a Thursday afternoon and it was not ready until late Monday, but I wasn't in a rush so I don't mind. I would say it's worth it with all the coupons they offer. read more

The price is always affordable for what I need and they always ask politely if a certain day is ok. I guess I could ask for quicker but I just never need to. Normally the service is fine here. The seamstress is very kind. I went to go pick up a pair of pants as an errand with a prepaid ticket (meaning ALREADY paid for) . I was in a hurry so I ran from home to quickly retrieve the pants because this cleaner is 2 blocks from my house. I left my phone charging at home along with my wallet, since it was a quick pickup. I give the man my ticket and he grabs the pants and tells me there is a $3.50 balance, I show him my receipt that says $0.00 balance and the other employee comes and says he undercharged the man and I needed to pay the $3.50 and not "capitalize off of his mistake." I let him know I didn't have a wallet and that customers with receipts with $0 balances shouldn't have to pay for employee errors, especially when the damage was a measly $3.50 and the staff was tipped 100% of the cost of service at the time of payment. The man starts pretending he doesn't understand english and tells me to go back and get the remaining balance. I let him know that I am not going back to my house, that he has poor customer service and I was taking the pants back with me and next time be mindful to charge properly, it isn't very professional to scratch out prices and pencil in UPCHARGES to patrons. I grabbed the pants and he grabbed them back from me, ripping the plastic and scratching my hand with the hanger. I assured him he didn't want to go down that road and that if I leave Im coming back and I would really make a scene, and with boyfriend in hand. I also let him know that a receipt with a $0 balance is legal documentation of payment in full and that if he wants to be fined for withholding property then I would be happy to call the police (FOR $3.50 YALL!) He goes to the back repackages the pants and hands them to me. Cheap, penny-pinching, abusive men with poor business acumen and even poorer customer service. Abysmal. read more

I'm often greeted by name and they never forget to wish me a Happy New Year, Merry Christmas, Happy 4th of July, etc.--whatever the occasion may be. The quality of their work is also impeccable. my first (and only) experience here was bringing my boss's suede purse here because it's close to my home. i brought the purse in on december 21. i expected a slight delay in cleaning the purse because of the holidays. they assured me the purse would be ready to pick up one week later, on december 28. okay, that seems reasonable. "we'll call you when it's done." awesome. how much would it cost? "$45." seems a little high, but i'd rather just have it taken care of than spend the time and gas finding a cheaper place. the 28th came and went with no word, then the 29th. december 30th i called to find out what was going on. "well, we sent the purse out to be cleaned, and they're not open until after the holidays. the purse isn't going to be ready until about january 10," the guy informed me, without a hint of apology in his voice. say what? i don't care that the purse wouldn't be ready when they originally said it would, i understand delays happen during the holidays. but the fact that no one even thought to call me to let me know the purse wouldn't be ready until a full two weeks after the quoted date is a sign of terrible customer service. the gentleman i spoke with offered no compensation, let alone apology. when i told him i didn't plan on using splendid again because of the poor customer service, he responded "okay, so don't," and hung up on me. the only reason this place gets two stars instead of one is because they did offer me the option of hand cleaning versus machine to avoid color bleeding on the purse. i still don't have the purse so i i can't comment on the quality of work as of yet. read more

I love to patronize businesses in the neighborhood and Splendid have been around long enough that they probably aren't screwing up people's laundry. So imagine my disappointment when their customer service negated any reason I ever had to return. I walked in behind a very agitated streetwalker who demanded to use their phone (which I believe she has done in the recent past because the proprietor simply directed her towards the phone.) I started to do the awkward "helloooo" to indicate that I might need something other than the phone to call my pimp. Nothing. At last, a man came out and begrudgingly took my laundry without acknowledging the wait, the fact that I'm a new customer, nor the phoneless ho. Needless to say, my clothes turned out fine. But with all the other independent dry cleaners out there hustling, I'll take mine with extra customer service. read more

I dropped off a blouse with a noticeable stain for dry cleaning. When I was ready to wear the blouse I noticed the stain wasn't removed which annoyed me to begin with (not to mention the blouse was returned to me with chipped/damaged buttons). When I brought it back, the man at the counter made it seem like it was a hassle to re-do. Needless to say, he didn't apologize for the inconvenience. Still, I returned to give them my business. Fast forward a couple of weeks later, I noticed another outfit that I had "dry cleaned" had a stain that had not been removed. Are they even trying? I didn't even bother asking for another re-do. Got my clothes cleaned here several times. Never had a problem. Nothing special about the place, but it was close to home.....Took my collection of New Era fitted ball caps to have them DRY CLEANED... They laundered all of them...big mistake. Dry clean only on those hats. Even I know that. All of my hats were shrunk to the point they didn't fit at all anymore. They also lost a shirt of mine. A nice one. I had to fight to get my money refunded and get paid back for the damaged articles. At least step up after you screw something up......Done deal. Don't bother with these guys. Just went here for the first time. I brought them a few suits and new silk blouse that I first got an oil stain on then I got a water stain when I tried to clean it myself. I was a little nervous after reading all the reviews but they did a great job and made my silk blouse look like new. I couldn't be happier. I've never written a yelp review but had such a horrible experience today that I didn't know what else to do. I've come here several times and never thought they were an exceptional dry cleaners but they are extremely close to my home so I kept coming back. Today I stop by to pick up my dry cleaning and am told they lost one of my pieces and were unable to get food debris (I work in a restaurant) out of of two of the five pieces I brought. In regards to the shirt they lost I was of course extremely frustrated as it happened to be an extremely expensive shirt that was my absolute favorite. I asked the man what they had done to find it, and what he was going to do to make it right... I was expecting him to say they were diligently searching for it and he was so sorry, and he would do everything he could to make it right. Instead he says it was not his fault, there's not much he can do but they would keep an eye out and I still need to pay for the all the garments. All the while he wouldn't make eye constant, never said sorry and was so unbelievably rude I wanted to scream at him. Honestly if he would have approached me acting like he cared at all i wouldn't be remotely as upset. This place sucks and isn't particularly cheap either... tons of way better places. read more

I've had good experience with dry cleaning at Splendid, and until now, I've had an ok experience with alterations. I've been going here for two years to get jeans hemmed and have not had an issue. I took in a pair of brand new True Religions (very expensive, a big splurge for me) on a Monday for simple hemming. I was told they would be ready by Thursday. On Friday, I find out that they've closed early and won't be open on Saturday -- ok, just bad timing. On Monday, my jeans aren't ready. I get some story about how their tailor was sick so they sent them out and they haven't heard from the other tailor... I pretty much demanded that they be available the next day. On Tuesday when I picked them up all of the hems looked great except one side of one hem which looked like it'd been sewn by a 5 year old. My mother is a seamstress and I've been using a sewing machine since I was 3. They gave me some cock and bull story about how it was supposed to be a "hand sewn job" and I had to point out that the rest of the hem was clearly done by machine and that the only part done by hand had absolutely butchered by pants. They are currently attempting to "fix" them, but to be honest, I'll never take alterations there again. read more

After 28 years in LA it happened... the moths got me. With a vengeance. We ultimately had 99 pieces to have cleaned to eradicate the moths as best we could. I love the work of our usual cleaners but they're kinda pricey (they're all eco and non-toxic, which is worth the money sometimes but sorry not for 99 sweaters/coats/suits etc), so I looked around my area and found this place. Ben at Splendid to the rescue! They were *half* of what our other place charges. PLUS, first time customers can use the 30% off coupon on the website. (Regular customers can use a $15 off coupon.) Their work was meticulous... that was a lot of pieces to keep track of and everything came back perfectly organized and neat (no magical fixing of the holes tho, haha). Oh- also we had found about 10 more things a few days later, dropped those off and they kindly just added them in to the original order. They even called to make sure I wanted to clean everything since a few items were pretty destroyed (we did, having decided we'd sort out the carnage later). Everything was ready in one week as promised, and with the coupon it was less than $500. Slam dunk. So happy to have found this place! read more

Don't take any clothes if they have spots on them. They couldn't take easy grease and a little spot out on my white shirt. I've ran a cleaner before so i know how things work. Either they're imcompetent or don't care because i personally pointed out the spots before dropping them. Only go if you have to for your shirts. Otherwise, find another place which has better customer service. Made my spots permanent and no apologies nor compensation. read more

Yes attitude is a real issue here from the oldest guy to the son (I assume) as I parked and politely asked if this parking was for the dry cleaner the younger barely answered like I was trespassing then the oldest one came across super rude at the counter which might be a culture thing but still that's no excuse since u work in customer service and after I asked for a hem and instead of asking me to try it on like any tons of other places, he asked me for if I knew my size. They do good work. I got my dry cleaning there, and I had some pants let out once. I discovered their website specials, which are pretty sweet. They also have an unadvertised discount, at least when i frequented them -- two pairs of pants dry cleaned for the price of one. I do have a personal beef though... I didn't realize they had the 2 for 1 special on pants because it's not posted anywhere, and I kept bringing in pants one pair at a time. So, one day, I was picking up one pair and dropping off one pair, and I asked the guy if I could get the discount even though both pairs weren't dropped off at the same time. He was wishy washy, and I said to him if he didn't want to give me the discount that I'd simply hold onto the pants I was gong to drop off until I had a second pair to go with him. He said that wasn't necessary, so I left the pants. Needless to say, when I went to pick up my order, the guy refused to give me the discount. He said he was just the employee and it was up to the owner. The owner, who was there, said there was "nothing he could do" and the employee guy stood there like a statue when I complained that he promised me the discount. The owner eventually offered to split the difference (i.e. $2 off instead of $4). so, it was only a matter of four dollars, but the experience really pissed me off. I told the owner he'd be losing a regular customer over a matter of two bucks, but he didn't budge. I thought it was all pretty ridiculous. I haven't been back. In general, I believe their prices are $1.50 per laundered shirt and either $4 or $4.50 for dry cleaning pants. Compared to the dry cleaner I currently go, which charges $1.75 per shirt but only $3.50 per pair of pants, I guess it's mostly a wash (no pun intended). read more

5-STAR SUPERHEROES. These guys literally saved the day for me about a year ago! I am sometimes loaned clothes to wear for events and - travesty of all travesties - a stranger spilled Cabernet all over the front of my white (!!!) loaned dress. What to do? I was supposed to return it to studio services the next day. Things looked bleak. Well, I headed up the street to my neighborhood Splendid Cleaners and thank God I did. They may not be the most talkative guys, but guys, they KNOW their business. They cleaned the stain 100% to where there was absolutely no trace of the vino left. It looked like a brand new dress!! I've been loyal ever since and pleased as punch with their work. I also love that you can buy a discount card where you get a pretty great discount for planning ahead. Additionally, I've altered with Althea there and putting on a snap only set me back $2.75. And unlike other cleaners, who charged me $50 (!!!) to clean my Anthropologie comforter, they only charged me $15. So head on over to Splendid for a splendid experience! I've never had a problem w/ them in terms of timeliness. They have your items ready whenever they tell you it's going to be ready. The quality of the clean & press is good. The people that run the place have very dry personalities. You go in there thinking they would have some type of legit customer service based on their website/exterior, but that's just not the case (mom was right.... never judge a ...).
