3.5 Stars A small little restaurant located off of El Camino in Belmont that serves Thai food. There are about a ten small tables inside, and from what I can tell they also have a few outdoor seats. The have appetizers ranging from satays, spring rolls to spicy wings. Several types of soups, salads, curries, entrees, fried rice and noodles to choose from. Enough options that I would say this is a vegetarian friendly place. I called ahead to order pad see ew - which comprised of rice noodle, egg, broccoli and sweet soy sauce. There was a choice of meat (chicken, beef or shrimp) or tofu. I opted for chicken. I came fairly late, close to 8:30 pm. Parking was not an issue as it was pretty empty but I can see it being an issue on a busy lunch run, as the small parking lot only holds a few cars. Service was pleasant. When I got there, I opted to get a Thai ice tea that was sweet and milky. Mmm... By the time I got back to the hotel, the food was still pipping hot. So glad I asked for the hot sauce. Due to the size, definitely not the ideal place for a large group, but I don't see why you can't call ahead for a large order. Overall, I was satisfied. I didn't know this was a Thai spot until I yelped Thai Food. San Carlos typically has mediocre Asian food that tastes catered to the Western Palette, but I'm just glad that I didn't have to drive to San Mateo or Berkeley for good Thai food. Super nice folks, food is super good really deserves 5 stars. We ordered the pad khee mao and the sai oua. The pad khee mao we ordered very spicy and it was on point and very delicious they aren't afraid to put the proper spice level on it. It had that very nice 'wok hei' flavor like the vendors have in Thailand. Pad khee mao was absolutely 5 stars. Sai Oua at $10 for what equates to a few slightly herbal meatballs is not worth it. There is nothing wrong with them, they tasted good but it's not a proper sai oua and I would just tell the owners to take it off the menu. Not worth $10 for the food you get and it really distracts if somebody orders how great that pad khee mao is. I still give them 5 stars because I think the pad khee mao was that good. We will definitely come back. Nearly impossible to find more authentic Thai take out. Many Thai restaurants "candy up" the food too much. This place passes my Thai wife flavor test. Nice little Thai restaurant, located a little bit away from the downtown San Carlos area. There's not a lot of seating, some tables indoors and some tables outdoors. You order at the counter, and they will bring the food to your table. Get your own water and plastic ware. The food was pretty good, and the portions are quite big for the main dishes. See pictures to see how they look. Not sure if the restaurant is trying to be environmentally friendly or not, but they use paper plates and compostable plastic ware. I came here on a weekday evening with a friend. The shop is quite small but cute. The place is very casual and is suited for quick meals or takeout. There were no customers when we entered and maybe 2 came to order take out during our 3 hour stay. Ordering is very simple; just go up to the counter, order, and pay. Off to the side of the counter are a variety of sauces. I didn't try any of them, but they looked really good! Then, you can seat yourself at any table. There were maybe around 8 tables or less in the shop. Food arrived quickly. I ordered the tofu pad Thai. The amount of food you get is definitely less than most restaurants, but it is also slightly cheaper. It comes out in a compostable bowl. The food itself was very tasty. It wasn't too sweet like how a lot of pad Thais are. It wasn't anything too special, but it gave me a very satisfied feeling. 3.5 stars You'd never imagine finding an authentic Thai restaurant off a quiet section of El Camino Real on the Peninsula, but here it is! Spoon & Fork is small, clean, and modern, and you'll find a bunch of authentic Thai dishes on its relatively small menu. On my visit, I tried the tom yum goong, a spicy and sour soup with shrimp, tomato, mushrooms, galangal, lemongrass, and kaffir lime leaves. While tasty, the soup was not particularly fragrant and had definitely been toned down in flavor. I also tried the recommended pad see eiw, a stir-fried noodle dish with broccoli, Chinese broccoli, and slices of lean pork, all flavored with a dark soy sauce. The noodle dish on its own was decent, but the real flavor came from the plethora of condiments at the counter you could help yourself to and add to taste! Pickled jalapenos, chili powder, sambal, and Thai chilies in fish sauce! The pork neck had a lovely smokiness and fattiness. 4.5/5 * Thai Corn Salad: Disappointment of the night. There is no reason to use canned corn in the middle of summer. If it were fresh this could be a good dish but the canned flavor was so overwhelming. 2/5 * Pad See Eiw with chicken: The meat and veggies had lovely char, and the noodles had a good robust flavor, but the noodles had no wok breath at all on them. This is a cute eatery. It has a small and ambient indoor seatings as well as great fun looking outdoor dining area as well which is perfect for summers and fall months. Super clean, fast, and very helpful employees. Got the chicken satay salad to go. Would probably just order the chicken satay alone instead of paying 18$ (15 +tax/tip) for mixed greens and sauce, but not worth docking a star. Chicken satay wasn't dry at all, decently flavorful and the peanut sauce was yummy. They did have complimentary water (with and without ice), and four different types of complimentary condiments to go. Will definitely come back again. We finally decided to try this place. Food was fast and decent. We got my toddler ice cream after eating dinner, and he dropped it all over the floor. Both fried noodle were in very big portion, noodle was pretty good quality and didn't stick together. But something about the fried noodles was off, maybe the noodle and veggie proportion. there were way more noodles but not much veggie or meat which made the dish a bit lack of flavor. Fresh and authentic Thai food! I have ordered take out here many times and tried almost all the dishes on their menu, everything is tasty and brings me back to the streets of Thailand. The flavors of this restaurant is not as Americanized as some of the other Thai restaurants in the area. They also have the chili vinegar condiments that I love so much! We always order kor moo yang (pork shoulder) and tom kha gai (chicken coconut soup), along with a couple of main dis. Everything is tasty and our favorite is sweet basico chicken on coconut rice! I don't know the experience of dining-in here, it is very clean and have both indoor and outdoor seating. I am so happy this place is in my neighborhood! PS.
