    Lunch at Spoon

My daughter lives in the area and recommended Spoon to us when we were visiting her and her family. We were so glad she did! The interior is cool and eclectic, and they played a wide variety of music, from jazz to Queen. Really nice, relaxing vibes. She told me to order the drunken noodles, Pad Kee Mao, and I'm so glad I followed her advice! Seriously, the best preparation of this dish I've ever had! I was nervous about the spice level, so I went with hot instead of Thai hot. ( There's another level above that, so I thought I'd be okay, but chickened out and chose plain hot.) It was pleasantly hot, but I'll try the more painful Thai hot next time. Noodles, veggies, minced chicken, sweet sauce . . . Perfection! We started with spring rolls but I thoughts they were too crispy, so I'll order dumplings next time. My husband had the basil chicken with minced chicken and he really enjoyed it. Our server was wonderful and the staff was friendly and welcoming. We will definitely come again! Highly recommend!

Came around 8pm on a Friday and it wasn't busy, there were plenty of seats so we were seated immediately. The ambiance is nice and intimate, but you don't need to be super dressy. Great for an affordable date. Our server was nice and helped me decide what to order because I wanted something different. I ended up getting the Massanum Curry which was really tasty. I'm glad I ventured out to something new. It was a good portion too, I had leftovers. My husband got the lobster fried rice which was also good. We finished the night with the fried banana dessert and it was delicious. Parking: shared private lot behind restaurant, probably gets packed during peak dinner time.

Can't believe it's my first time here! You can tell it's a neighborhood joint since a lot of the customers were chatting up their employees like they've been going there for years. I was shocked to see they have a full bar as soon as you walk in! They had tons of takeout orders for Sunday night, while their dining room was pretty full. We ordered the beef nam tok to start, the veggie panang for me and tofu red curry for my husband. Food came pretty quick and we both really liked the salad. I do wish it was served with sticky rice, but I suppose we could have ordered it as a side. Not gonna lie but I was pretty underwhelmed with the curry. I think it was served in a bowl too big for the serving size. I only got medium heat but should have opted for hot, but instead asked for chili sauce (50 cent up charge btw). Our total bill was $50, which I thought was not cheap for the amount of food we got. I would come back though to try other items on their menu!

Dined at Spoon tonight, and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. As a table of one, my server was hospitable, however you could tell that they were short staff on the floor . I was so hungry that I started right away with the Tom Yum Soup, and for my entree, I had the Panang Curry with white rice. For an added treat, I ordered an iced Thai tea, which was both delicious and refreshing for the evening. Beyond the food, the ambiance here is quaint and intimate. There's also an outdoor patio and bar area if you prefer a specific seating style. The restaurant is located in a retail space with complimentary parking, which is a nice bonus!

I had a pleasant experience here after popping in for a quick lunch. I like to order a few things and sample them, so I went with the chicken satay and a side of roti bread, and the 3 flavor stir fry with chicken. Everything was well prepared and flavorful.

Had a team dinner at Spoon tonight. We had a very pleasant experience. We were a larger party and they had our tables set up on our arrival. From the hostess to server, they were pleasant and attentive. We order several appetizers to include the chicken satay, fried spring rolls, roti (delicious) and wings. We ordered a variety of entrees: crabmeat fried rice (one of their most popular dishes) and added shrimp, shrimp pad thai, green curry, and penang. We enjoyed our drinks particularly the mango mojitos. Chill spot in East Atlanta.

Omg! I was craving a delicious yellow curry and i got exactly what i wanted... i ordered the massamun and got one of the best curry's i've ever eaten. It was sweet and savory, creamy and nutty. Better than what i was expecting. It was an elegant little place, slightly pricey but once again worth it! Defiantly recommend this place!

Pad Kee Mao Noodles with ground chicken

I walked in at 8:46 PM thinking they were going to tell me that there kitchen was closed, but to my surprise they told me I had plenty of time. The food came out before I had a chance to finish signing my receipt. It was quick and fresh and delicious! This was not my first meal nor was it my last. I have patronized Spoon several times over the years. They are a community stable in the village. The only thing I will say is that with inflation, the portion seems small for the amount of money you're spending. $14 for some noodles +4 dollars for the protein seems like a lot. The noodles don't cost that much. Also, it just felt a little skimpy. Not as much basil, peppers or veggies in general. I've had pad kee mao other places that provided more volume in the dish. Like I said it's not my first time there and it won't be my last. It's still good. I just feel a little cheated. Taste - 4.5/5 Price - 2.5/5

Casual Thai food with quaint outdoor dining area restaurant is located in East Atlanta. Free parking lot. Food was tasty, reasonably priced and fresh. We went close to closing and our service was somewhat mediocre, possibly due to closing.

My family and I tried Spoon Eastside for the first time today, on my mother's birthday. It's such a cute little spot. The ambiance and aesthetic is everything. Our server Diamond, is the best. She really took care of us! Gave us some really good recs. She is very personable, very sweet, and professional! We went for lunch, so there was plenty of parking and hardly any other guests. The food is fresh and flavorful. Will definitely return in near future! Thanks Diamond and your manager

This is my friend's favorite Thai restaurant on the Eastside, so she was eager to bring me here for dinner one evening. Hidden in a small business complex on Moreland, Spoon can easily be missed if you don't know it exists. We came on a Thursday, so thankfully, it wasn't busy. There was also plenty of parking in front of the various businesses. Upon walking in, we were greeted by a very friendly host. What made my initial impression even better, was our server. He was amazing. Energetic, funny, and offered great advice about food choices. We both shared the fried spring rolls as an appetizer. For my entree, I had the Chicken Pad Zu. Very fresh and good flavor. A little different than some of the other Thai dishes I've tried around the city. I definitely recommend giving Spoon a try if you're in the area.

Spoon, I like to call it an oldie but goodie! I've never been disappointed with my meal and the service is consistent. My go to dish is the basil fried rice Thai hot with shrimp added, on my recent visit I decided to switch it up and add crab meat and shrimp, it was $29. I personally feel like the Thai Hot here is much milder than other establishments so if you enjoy spicy you may want to get the Mama Hot level. I also enjoyed an order of shrimp in blanket $12, spring rolls, $6, and a lychee martini, $12. Everything was delicious and plates were cleaned. The martini was filled to the rim and served with a lychee.   The restaurant is located in the Ormewood Shopping Center and provides free parking. There is inside and outside dining, and a small bar inside. You can also place to go orders and the restaurant is currently adding 20% gratuity for dining in which I personally think is acceptable.

Ginger Stir Fry w/ Noodles & Fish...

Thai Cx Wings served w/ Sweet & Sour dip on the side. It was lightly batteries so it was all Cx & I didn't use the dip so the flavor was tasteful. Pad Thai w/ extra egg & fish. I couldn't dive in like I usually do, but, the noodles were soft & the sauce wasn't overpowering. Service. Perfect & itwas nice that they posted the sign that the service charge was 20%z Ambiance. The lights need to be dimmed just a little to give it that mood.

Ask the Community - Spoon Eastside

Just left Spoon. We arrived at 9:33. The sign and website said they close at 10pm. But wr were told that the dining area was closed. Should we have been allowed to sit, order, and eat at the bar?

I don't think so, there is no way you'd be able to sit, order and eat in 30mins... or even an hour for that matter. Close at 10pm means the current guests should be able to order etc up until that time. But to come in and start an entire 2 hour or… Read more

I have never in my life had Americanized Thai food (or at least been conscience of it) but this tasted every bit of that. Not a single Thai national or descendant cooking or dining in here... I should have slid out the door upon noticing this but we were HONGRY and this place was walking distance. I appreciate the big portions to help alleviate the hunger, but the food going down wasn't even close to a real Thai experience. And the general ambience was definitely off. It's unclear whether this is a casual to-go spot or a sit-down spot or a bar. The service here was confusing. You have to order drinks separately from your food, for one. Secondly, it took a solid 10 minutes for a bartender to walk behind the bar and begrudgingly explain to me what they have available. I would have ordered more but her attitude made me close the tab after one beer. We didn't get served water until after we received our food, a solid 15-20 min after being in the restaurant. It generally felt like no one wanted to be there, and the staff were just moving independently to complete tasks instead of creating a dining experience *together*. There was not a smile from a single person I interacted with. I'd most likely not return purely because the dining experience is just plain out uncomfortable. On to the food. Mostly oil and noodles except for the papaya salad, which was... okay. Again, big portions. Nice heat. But just okay. The whole cherry tomatoes on top were a little weird and screamed laziness. The tofu kee mao was... okay. Same for the chicken pad thai. Lots of oil. This food made us feel pretty tired after eating it, which I've rarely experienced eating Thai cuisine. And they were very, very stingy with the protein. My husband counted 4-5 little slivers of chicken and hella noodles. The same was true for my tofu dish. I mean... it's tofu y'all. Cheap. But I can imagine they have to cut these corners because there were about 8 staff members running around in a small space with only a few customers in for happy hour. They do have HH deals on drinks depending on the day, but I found the drinks to be overpriced and not worth it. Especially the beer. And a $10 non-alcoholic cocktail is wild imo, especially for the scanty area this area is in. They are certainly milking the fact that they are in eyeshot of the Mercedes Benz stadium. The inside is beautiful and very ~trendy~ and honestly that tells me exactly where the focus is. I'd rate this a 2, but I'm adding a star for the spotless restrooms.

This restaurant is really the best kept secret in Atlanta!…read more My family visited here this week for the first time since around 2014 and, despite our fears that it wouldn't live up to the great experience we had then, they EXCEEDED our expectations. We ordered so much and everything was delicious - nothing below an 8/10 in my opinion. We ordered the seafood spring rolls (8/10), crab benigets (8/10 with a special note of originality), and the shrimp appetizer (10/10). Spring rolls- very crispy and flaky, had the "sea floor" variety of seafood inside, flavorful 3 sauces to go with it Crab beignets- a slightly cheesy and airy beignet with a genius crab dip blend. The whole table was surprised on how good it was. Shrimp appetizer- the best "bang bang" shrimp I've had. Shrimps are very large and has a nice fruit salsa to go with. Everyone at the table loved their entrees but I can only truly speak for the ones I tried. Seafood Curry- I will NEVER eat curry anywhere else! I LOVEEEEE THIS CURRY! All the seafood is so fresh, the curry is so flavorful that I literally slurped the rest off my plate. There was also such a variety of veggies in there that were also very fresh and firm (not soggy). For the price especially, you get sooooo much and with such a thoughtful recipe. According to our waitress, it's the only recipe that hasn't changed since the restaurant opened in 2012! Fried chicken - I didn't try the chicken itself, but I did try the Mac and cheese and greens that came with it. Let me tell you, I am very picky about Mac and cheese and this rivals the best Mac and cheese I've had in Atlanta (toast on Lenox)! The greens were also fantastic and flavorful, but a little on the sweet side if that's what your preference is. For dessert, all 4 of us shared one slice of the suspension cake and couldn't even finish it! It was ginormous (literally the size of your head). I won't even go into details- just order it! The ambiance is so intimate and unique- not feeling like an "uptight" boujie restaurant, but curated and thoughtful. They have very nice seating outdoor that is enclosed as well as a beautiful bar area. Lastly, the service is fantastic. I genuinely can't recall my waitresses name, but they speak so highly of the head chef (Calvin) and most have worked there 8+ years, so it really feels like home. I write this review with hesitance because I want this place to remain a secret, but how could I not brag! Book the reservation!
