FOOD POISONING be warned! I wanted to support this new family owned place, and the food was decent, but last time my wife and I shared the orange chicken (in addition to other things I only ate) and we both got mild food poisoning. We shared nothing else in the days leading up to it so it was clearly the orange chicken. They need to take food safety more seriously. Not good. read more

I stopped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the food. There are pictures of the food on the menu and my first thought was that nothing looked really appetizing. However, whereas the presentation may be a little lacking, the flavor and the cookery of all the proteins in the food were fantastic. I had fresh spring rolls with shrimp, chicken satay, and pad se ew with chicken. The fresh spring rolls had great flavor and texture and the peanut sauce served with it was warm and delicious. The chicken satay skewers were a flavor bomb and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The pad se ew was also a winner. The noodles tasted great. The only small criticism I had was that I wished the noodles had a little more basil leaves. We can't find a place with good fried rice so my fiancé was happy with his dish. Drunken noodles (Mock Duck Level 10)- Talk about more flavor! Even with that spice level, it didn't just taste like peppers. Their level 10 matched their level unlike other spots where I would still have to add more peppers. Coconut ice-cream - kids loved it. Excited to have a new Thai restaurant in Rancho Bernardo since Pailin Thai closed earlier this year. This was our second time having Spoon Thai. The first time was when we ordered for takeout, and tonight was the first time we had dinner at the restaurant. Everything we've had so far has been really good. My favorite is the papaya salad. Papaya salad (4/5): very flavorful but on the smaller side. Crying tiger (4/5): the fried rice is SO GOOD and was the best part of this dish. The beef was pretty tender and paired well with the sauce. Creamy tom yum soup (4.5/5): this soup really hit the spot! It's tangy and creamy. I tried this place for the first time tonight. I ordered tom yum chicken soup. The broth was very sweet and tasted only of very sweet fish sauce. There was no lemongrass or galangal or the normal spices in there. The chicken was overcooked and in very large pieces too for soup . This place seems to have good reviews so maybe we will try other dishes and stay away from the Tom Yum soup. read more
