The last two times we have tried Spring Creek Barbeque have been disappointing. The food is marginal. The waitstaff is just not there (mentally) about the food or the experience. It's awkward. If you want just water you have to go to another counter. It is just messed up. It is such a controlled environment its not worth it. The food is subpar and there is so much better BBQ around that area. If you are going to compete you have to give it an "A" effort every time. Probably won't be back. I had ribs plate and was very disappointed by that. The ribs were dry and over cooked. For the same amount of money, I would go to Hutchins BBQ right down the street. Hutchins quality beats Spring Creek hands down, plus they have free deserts and ice cream. Also great service is now part of the package there. But I do like Spring Creek's location and the restaurant is spacious; good for big group gatherings. In conclusion, if you're not too picky about the food, or have a sudden craving for BBQ, this would be a place to go. read more

For this to be a Texas restaurant I was hoping for the Texas bbq experience. I was not wowed or wooed. I got the ribs, mac and cheese and green beans. The BBQ sauce was thick, the mac and cheese tasted like it came out of a box and the green beans tasted like they came out of a can. The only thing good about my meal was the hot rolls they bring over that come fresh from the oven. If you are looking for TRUE Texas BBQ, this is not the place you want to go. Try somewhere else. I've always enjoyed the welcoming greetings and courteous staff at this location. Due to covid, we opted for pick up. We tipped beforehand at online checkout but wish we didn't this time. We ordered 1 hour in advance and still our food was 15 minutes late! (We ordered ahead of time because we had a crying baby in the car.) They acknowledged that my husband was waiting there for pickup. When the food was ready, it just sat there on the counter until my husband spoke up a few minutes later and asked if that was his order. Then they were like, oh yeah, that's it. Ugh. And no utensils. To prevent any future disappointment, when requesting a chopped beef sandwich I will request that it be made grime sliced brisket. Have been to Spring Creek multiple times and my family wanted it on Sat nite June 27th. The turkey was ok but a little dry. The brisket was HORRIBLE. It was cut thick, full of fat, and tough. I spent $44 plus tax and drove 20 miles to get it just to put it in the trash. We ordered baked potatoes, rolls, brisket and turkey. Spent $133 and very disappointed. Things have gotten better! Not sure if it's new management, but the food and service have definitely improved. Considering this place is a chain, I'm impressed with the quality of the meat. Tender turkey, moist brisket with good bark, and solid ham. The BBQ sauce is tangy and spicy and a good level of thickness. My favorite things about this place have to be the unlimited sides (fill your plate with as much as you want), replacement for the sides with a loaded baked potato, and free hot fresh bread! They come around every 10-15 min or so. Best sides: potato salad and loaded baked potato. The green beans and corn are a bit watery. The man and cheese tastes like it was made with powdered cheese. But when things are good, they're great! Highly recommend the brisket + turkey + loaded potato combination. read more

My experience was at the McKinney location of Spring Creek BBQ. I got a single to-go order, and was disappointed. Admittedly, my first mistake was to complain about the price - a sliced beef sandwich plate with 3 sides (though really just 2 sides) and no drink, for almost $18. I was informed that my okra order counts as 2 sides, so if I really wanted those beans I'd have to pay for an extra side. I really wanted those beans... Before I left, I verified all items were there but I should have checked for quality. The sandwich, which I ordered with lean sliced beef, contained dry, charred slices. They were lean, but after cutting off the charred portions, I was left with a few crumbly slices. No sauce was included. Perhaps if I'd paid a bit more... The beans were undercooked and still a little crunchy. The okra - both portions - was nicely prepared but over salted. In the end I felt like my initial complaint about price affected the quality of food I was given, but who knows. I'm not really very picky about my takeout and rarely post reviews. In this day of takeout from anywhere, the overall quality has degraded everywhere. But this was a particulary bad experience and I want to warn others away from this location. Spend the extra time to wait in line at Hutchins. I wish I had. read more

Went to Spring creek BBQ in Plano a number of years ago with my Mom. They had the best home baked bread, great BBQ and sides. It was a real treat. Recently took my sons to the new one in McKinney, and OMG was I surprised. It wasn't nearly as good as I remembered it. The food was mediocre at best, and I didn't see the fresh baked bread. Worst of all was their wasn't and BBQ sauce on the tables. You have to ask the waitress for it, and she brings you a little tiny plastic dish of it (1 oz.). I'll go to Dickey's before coming back here unless they fix their quality issues. I mean, who ever heard of a BBQ joint being stingy with the sauce? read more

Holy smokes. I have to apologize to Spring Creek for driving by you so many times and ignoring you because you were a (gasp) chain. This place is sooo good. I have to say I enjoyed it more than Hutchins . The sausage is sooo juicy and yummy. The fried okra is the BEST fried okra I have ever eaten. And the bread...oh, the bread! It is soft, warm, and buttery. The mac and cheese was not gooey at all, but cheesy and yummy.We tried the ribs as well and thought they were pretty good too! This is going to be on our repeat list, maybe weekly, when I just don't feel like cooking. read more

The meat and ribs was flavorless, the sides of potato side was disgusting including the Mac and cheese that was runny...how can you mess that up. I love this place because they give back to the community. Yes, they have great bar b que. You can throw a dart and hit great bar b que in Texas, but this place gives back to the local elementaries by hosting spirit nights. They give a portion of the sales for the night back to the school. Always my favorite place to get ribs in North Texas. Very friendly staff. I can't believe how much this chain has grown over the last 20 years. I am happy to see that with more franchising the quality of the food hasn't gone downhill. I don't like the green beans, but I love the meats (tried brisket, chicken and ribs this visit). Potato salad is a nice side and so is the corn on the cob. Bread is addicting. We gave this place a try for dinner one day last week. We had ribs, chicken, sausage and brisket plus a mix of sides. The ribs were rather disappointing - not that much flavor which is a real crime for ribs. The other disappointment was the chicken - it was really dry. On the plus side for the meats was the brisket and the sausage (we went with the pepper sausage). Both were good and I could have eaten a lot more of the sausage. The sides were all pretty good. The green beans were awesome, the mac-n-cheese good as were the fries. The ranch beans however were a bit runny and lacking any depth of flavor. I liked it well enough to return but the wife will likely veto that - if the ribs aren't good she just isn't interested. We get better ribs just throw them on our grill. read more

Went to an event here earlier this week. The staff were warm and friendly and the decor is kitschy and welcoming, but the food was not good. The corn on the cob was overboiled, the cole slaw had no flavor, and the lean beef was very dry. I thought the bbq sauce would perk it up, but it needed much more seasoning. I love how much this restaurant takes care of their community. As a teacher in the neighborhood they have helped our school so much with their spirit nights. We went here last night for a school fundraiser so it was a bit crazy (as expected). It's a clean restaurant, the girls at the door were sooooo friendly so it was very inviting upon entry. The two men that took our order were great, they were patient with me and so sweet. I had never been there before so I wasn't quite sure what to get and I'm not quite used to Texas style barbecue yet. The cashier was okay, not super inviting but I also think she was trying to move through the line fairly quick. The servers that brought out our food were super sweet! The food wasn't bad, I would say compared to other BBQ places it is just average and the pricing was a little high. One kids meal, one salad, one order of fries and two extra drinks was about $20 so I thought that was about high for that since the food was nothing more then average. My favorite thing was the buttery rolls that they hand out for free though, they are like soft heavenly clouds loaded with butter that are edible.
