I got a true cod two piece meal and upgraded my drink to a pineapple shake and it was delicious! Service was great, I was originally going to order these things separately but the staff recommended a meal so it would be cheaper! I also like the decor and ambiance, there is seating outdoors and upstairs too.

Wonderful food, friendly service. Indoor and outdoor seating. Softserve, yum, yum! Crisp tasty fish, creamy clam chowder, crisp chicken on salad. Came here with my aunt for years and it is my happy place.

Spud has a cool, retro vibe, and it's clear that it has a lot of Seattle history. We walked in on a random Wednesday after walking along Alki Beach. Counter service was quick and kind. I could see this place being busy in the summertime! The fish was pretty good. We got the cod 2-piece meal and halibut 3-piece. The fish had a nice, crispy breading. I preferred the cod over the halibut. The fries were not very salty or flavorful. No refills on soda. Great view of the water from the upstairs dining room! Overall, a pretty good experience and nice for a quick meal, but a bit more than I'd like to pay for what I'd consider fast food and nothing to write home about.

Been coming here for 60+ years it's a must stop for the family or even if you're by yourself best fish and chips around the Pacific Northwest never disappointing And an incredible view of Puget sound

I stopped by Spud Fish & Chips on a sunny afternoon at Alki Beach and couldn't have asked for a better setting. I grabbed a seat outside, and the warm ocean breeze. I went to the counter to order and staff was very friendly. I ordered the Halibut fish and chips, and it hit the spot. The halibut was fresh, lightly crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside--no heavy breading or greasy aftertaste. The fries were golden and satisfying. It's a classic seaside meal with a nostalgic, no-frills charm. Perfect for anyone looking to enjoy simple, well-made fish and chips while soaking in the view of the Puget Sound.

It came with 2 pieces of cod, fries or coleslaw (I chose coleslaw. It does NOT come with raisins which I was very pleased about), tartar sauce, a drink, and 3 prawns. Prawns were my favorite part of the meal. Perfectly cooked. Coleslaw was pretty good, a little sweet, and helped cut all the oil. Cod and prawns were crunchy and not overly oily. My bf got the 3 piece cod which came with fries. The fries were dry, which means they were probably over fried. Clam chowder was pretty darn good. Mac n cheese was good but ultimately it reminded me of the mac n cheese I'd eat as a kid from frozen TV dinners, which made me nostalgic so not sure how to feel. Think I saw someone else say the pasta was overcooked. I wouldn't say it's overcooked but it's not al dente either. Tartar sauce is not free here! 79 cents each. I would recommend TWO containers for 1 order. I got 1 serving of tartar, which came with the special, and it was not enough for 2 piece cod + 3 prawns. We ordered another 1 serving of tartar for my bf and it was not enough for his 3 piece cod either. Overall my bf and I both separately came to the conclusion that it feels "homemade". Like stuff a family would make at home.

I was a bit unsure on what to expect -…read morebecause on one hand it felt like a classic overpriced spot targeting tourists looking for fish, but on the other side Tom Douglas has opened a lot of pretty good places across the city. I had the fish and chips, which are three pieces of Alaskan cod - coming with fries, tartar sauce, and ketchup. These were seriously awesome. I have to first talk about the beer batter on the outside, which has a phenomenal crunch. It's craggly and crunchy in the best of ways - with a consistent crispiness across the entire fish for every piece. I don't think I've ever had a crunch this good on fish and chips. The oil is clearly fresh, and it's served with basically no delay from the frying. I also loved the cod inside. It's super moist and flaky. Obviously, the fish doesn't have a lot of fat, but it makes up for it with a disappearing texture where you barely even need to bite through. They've clearly gotten the formula right on the fish. If that wasn't enough, the fries were easily the best I've ever had with fish and chips. They were hot, thick, and fluffy - a perfect combination that led to delicious results. The portion on these was great as well. If I had one complaint, the tartar sauce wasn't very good. It felt like it was missing both fat and acid, and tasted closer to ranch than what I was expecting a tartar sauce to be. I just didn't end up using it for the fish. Yes, this is pricey. The 3-piece order cost me $26 before tax/tip. That's quite expensive - despite a solid portion size. Is this the best fish and chips in the city? To me it's between this and Pacific Inn Pub. They have a much better tartar sauce and serve a larger portion at a third less of the price, but I think the actual fish and the fries here are better. I would say it's a toss-up - you can't go wrong with either one. Overall, a fantastic new opening that I would love to bring people to. 9/10

We arrived around 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and were told the wait would be about an hour and 15 minutes. We asked about the bar, and after about five minutes, two seats opened up. We ordered the Dinghy chowder sampler so we could try three different chowders. We came for the clam chowder. I thought the flavor was good, although the texture was a little different for me. The biggest disappointment was the regular clam chowder. We don't eat bacon, and they told us the bacon could not be left out. Since clam chowder was the main reason we came, that really took away from the experience. A few minutes after we ordered, a couple sitting next to us at the bar asked the same question we did: "Is there bacon in the award-winning clam chowder?" When the server said yes, they said, "Okay, never mind. We don't want that." So we weren't the only ones asking. We ended up having the lobster chowder. Overall, 3 out of 5. The experience was okay, but because we couldn't really try the clam chowder we came for, we don't plan to come back.

Staff were ready to answer questions, and had a lot of good energy when serving orders to me and their other customers. I split with two others in my group the sampler, which consists of two pieces each of fried cod, oyster and shrimp, all on top of a bed of French fries. The tempura batter for all three came apart a little too easily, though it was even more so with the fried cod, as it was hard to use a spoon and fork to scoop up the easily broken pieces. Shrimp and oyster were both really good and not too salty on their own. French fries were also really filling, and were very fresh - they were on the verge of being too salty. Overall portion was relatively big and all three of us got full from splitting this.
