Omg. I waa looking around for clam/white sauce linguine pasta. I was really hungry for a non creamy seafood sauce. I ordered the linguine inguine Alle Vongole. It was EXACTLY what I had a craving for. I added shrimp. Before I picked up the food I was wondering if my order would be small. It wasn't. It was a full order which was very satisfying. When I was dishing up the pasta, I saw plenty of empty clam shells and was getting deflated until I saw the empty shells had been emptied into the pasta noodles. Ordered extra shrimp. I was in Santa Monica for a work trip and the boss decided to take our team here. He was planning on bringing his dog a huge Cockadoodle. We were there back in November... and it was a beautiful night so a group of 10 of us and the doggy were able to sit outside. It was a good meal but can't say it was a great meal. We had a few orders of the Brushetta Pomodoro for the table which came with super crusty bread and the tomatoes were extremely flavorful. There were so much tomatoes that we had enough to eat it with the complimentary crusty bread they provided to the table. I am a big fan of crusty bread and their bread definitely satisfied me. The bread came with some type of olive tapenade... that was a bit bland... I would've been happier if they had the traditional olive oil. I ordered the Gnocchi Boscaiola which was good with a lot of mushrooms and the cream sauce wasn't too heavy. I probably could've eaten the whole thing but I held back. My coworker ordered the Chicken Marsala and she wasn't too thrilled with it, and ended up finishing up my Gnocchi instead :) Being pregnant I didn't oppose the complimentary Spumoni Ice Cream they gave us. I ate every bit of it:) It was an okay meal, but with all the choices in LA I can't say I would go back there if I had a choice of going anywhere else. I met a friend here for lunch. This restaurant has a few tables on the sidewalk and a few more crammed together in a smallish indoor space. Luckily we were having a late lunch so there were minimal people inside where we chose to eat. They had a nice menu with a variety of lunch specials. I ordered the gnocchi with pink vodka sauce. It came with a house salad. While waiting for our meal we were given a basket of warm bread with some delicious olive tapenade. Between using the tapenade and the oil and vinegar at the table I was really enjoying the bread! The house salad was okay, nothing special, with far too many garbanzo beans, many of which were left in the bowl. The gnocchi, however, was superb. It was presented as a lunch portion which was perfect; it was filling but I didn't feel "stuffed". Prices were quite good considering this is trendy Montana Avenue. read more

My brother recommended this place to us, specifically their mushroom gnocchi and homemade pasta. We thoroughly enjoyed the creamy gnocchi, but their pizza was only mediocre. My son and I loved the fairly thick crust, which was baked to perfection, but my wife personally prefers a thinner crust. read more

This restaurant recently reopened due to a renovation. They expanded their size into the next door establishment. It is Italian cuisine and the food is delicious. Lots of different Italian dishes are available. The food is cooked with great ingredients and accompanied by delicious sauces. There is also parking located in the back. The veal is my favorite item and I highly recommend it! Also there used to be coupons for the restaurant in Valpak and I hope they bring them back because I havent seen them in awhile. read more

Absolutely wonderful! Best home made gnocchi and pasta ever along with the Frutti Di Mar salad with delicious fresh steamed seafood. I was there on a Monday and turns out they had 1/2 off entrees- which was a lot of fun. We ordered several entrees to share. Nothing like steaming hot gnocchi with fresh spinach, goat, gorgonzola and mozzarella cheese. A couple of weeks ago I was there on a Wednesday and they have 1/2 off bottle of wine- a real bonus! Having lived in Santa Monica for a short stint, I was a short bike ride from Montana Avenue & Spumoni. This is a quaint little Italian restaurant that serves some pretty solid food for the area. I've had a few of their entrees and they have excellent salads. Try their Montana Cobb Salad or the Grilled Salmon Salad if you're eating light. They boast a nice selection of an all homemade in house gnocchi bar that I have yet to try. However, I really enjoyed the Pollo al Limone which is a double breast of chicken sauteed with lemon juice, white wine & capers and any of their NY-style pizzas. Try the Biancaneve with spinach, garlic, ricotta, & mozzarella cheese. Yum. Yum. Overall, Spumoni's has been around for a while now and it's a great little neighborhood spot. It's also a good place for a first date with all the people watching you can do on the main drag or just to grab a quick bite while taking a break from browsing all of the shops on this strip. read more

Decent local Italian for Montana. Second time visiting. We always come in a weekday so have no trouble finding a seat or parking. Their bread is fresh and olive tapenade is delicious. We had a couple of apps mainly their cheese and meat platter which was fine. For main course we had risotto and gnocchi. Their later is fresh made and very soft and delicious. We've been loyal customers of Spumoni for 20 years since coming to the neighborhood but have noticed a dramatic decline in food quality and service....for example, the cioppinno broth was weak and uneventful the last half dozen times. We used to actually crave this dish but not only has the broth been disappointing (watery) but so is the amount and variety of fish it contains. The pasta bolognese was dry and used to have plenty of meat sauce amongst the pasta. We order takeout from time to time and it seems that whenever we do that lately we get less, for the same amount of money, than if we dine in. Management needs to be more genuinely responsive to constructive criticism than just blindly nodding and spitting out robotic replies with smiles. Will be a bit of time before we go back and give it another try. read more

The food is quite good but the customer service from the young hostess is lacking at best. We have long supported our local spots but clearly good help is hard to find these days. It should be noted that the kitchen staff and servers all provided quality fare and an enjoyable dining experience once seated. I hadn't been to spumoni in years and when I did it was takeout. Takeout was always good, but we all know fresh is best. We went June 2022 and took 13 people! We ate, we drank and we ate more!! The food was wonderful! The gentleman in charge of my table helped me choose wine. He was fantastic!. I wish I could remember his name! I'm planning on going back soon I'll find out his name. I can only review this for take-out food. But OMG! I was so surprised! The pizza was so flavorful! We got the Della Casa pizza and oh boy was it not healthy whatsoever, but yowsa! The sauce and ingredients were awesome. The sauce was clutch. By the time we =got it home, the middle was soggy but I DID NOT CARE in was so good! I got the rigatoni Arrabiatta, it was still nice and hot when we got it home and it was simple but oh so flavorful and a huge portion! My husband got the Farfalle alla Barese. It looked boring to me but oh how different it tastes! Its definitely for the garlic lovers, The same is rice and decadent. The balance of the broccoli and sun-dried tomatoes paired well with the garlic sauce and sausage. I am so happy they reopened after that fire! What great food! Absolutely delicious Italian food. I ordered the best chicken masala and I love the fact that they added parsley and it was not overpowering and I love that it was served with potatoes. I ate everything on my plate. I sampled the lasagna the Seafood risotto and pasta which resembles Frutti de Mari... Delicious! Their cooking is not consistent, and they're sneaky. The first time I ordered their home made pasta, it was overcooked. Last night their Strazzapreti Carbonara, whose sauce is supposed to have Parmiggano and Romano, as well as egg yolks, had no cheese, and the yolks were cooked solid and rubbery, just tossed in. In addition, the Seafood Salad had old, liquifying lettuce, which they "thoughtfully" put on the bottom, so as not to be detected. I considered giving them 2 stars because I didn't get sick, but decided that would leave the wrong impression. Just to be clear; there was no altercation, no rudeness, no axe to grind. I had nothing against Spumoni. I won't be back, and you shouldn't either. read more
