I've been getting lunch to go here for a while. Their garlic chicken and pho is hard to beat. I got a chance to sit and dine the other day during lunch and let me tell you, come early, like 1130. At 12, the place is packed and a horde of people are waiting at the door. Parking is also very tough. I ended up parking on the other end of the shopping center. I got the pork chops with the fried egg. The egg was perfectly crispy and still had a slightly runny center, just the way i like it. Seriously will come back just for the egg. Pork chops were good. It was a bit dry and needed more flavor, but i slathered it with sriracha and it was good. The best part of the meal was the vietnamese coffee. Its deep bold coffee flavor with a thicker consistency, sweetened with condensed milk was a good compliment to the meal. I will come back. read more

Absolute gem. This place is authentic, delicious, and you get a lot of bang for your buck. The regular sized pho is a hefty portion with tasty and comforting broth and wonderful meats. I always get the pho ga which is the chicken pho and it never disappoints. I also love the papaya salad, it is super refreshing and hits the spot when you want something on the lighter side or want to start your meal off with some veggies. I also really enjoy the curries here, they are packed with flavor and give this restaurant another element to it, it is not just a pho place! This is one of my favorite restaurants! I did take out a lot with them, especially during the past three years of Covid and they practiced safety which I appreciate! The food is very fragrant which means yummy! There is a wide variety on their menu and there are a lot of choices especially for vegetarians! I've been eating here consistently for the past few years. Last time I came here 2 weeks ago and ate their Pho. This time, I have to say that there is a strong flavor of MSG in it automatically leaves your tongue with a salty tingle and gives you this thirsty sensation. I think as Restaurants get more busy they cut corners on the quality of their food and this the sense that I'm getting from this restaurant. The best Vietnamese on the east side! My go to and favorite that I visit weekly. I always get the bun bo hue and it's solid - excellent broth with generous meat portions. I've never really been into vietnamese food, but I must have been going to the wrong places. I'm not sure if this place is authentic to Vietnam, but it sure was delicious! After blasting some large caliber holes in paper targets at WCA, we decided to try this place based on reviews. When I saw the tmobile-ramen noodle crowd, I wish my instinct to do a u-turn had been stronger. Bland. 5-star spicy does not un-bland something, it just makes it unbearably bland. The cuts of rare beef for the pho belong either in a can of dog food or a rotten-ronnies burger. I should have taken them over to the humane society across the freeway. Environment: The tables are put too closely together. Some of them are less than a foot from each other. Reminded me of eating in tiny restaurants in NYC. Not a fan of closed packed restaurants. Food: The dishes are OK but nothing spectacular. For a quick lunch, it is alright. Service: My first time here was waited on by a guy who seem to have memory problems even after he took notes on what we ordered. Three of us ordered 3 dishes that were all beef-based. 3 minutes after he walked away with our orders, he returned and asked if my dish was with beef or chicken. I told him beef. Then, when the dishes arrived, only one was beef and the other two were chicken. When the bill came, the dishes were all chicken dishes. Summary: I think this place is OK for lunch. Went to this place for dinner. We ordered the spring rolls and the mango salad. Both were just average and nothing to rave about. It's what you would get at most Vietnamese restaurants. A little too pricey though considering that the food is above average but not outstanding. The service is not bad. I really like Square Lotus. The food is generally good, and the ambience and physical space of the restaurant seem unusually nice to me for this price point. Food-wise, their distinguishing characteristic is that they have a huge number of vegetarian options, with many kinds of faux meat; they can make virtually their entire menu with meat alternatives. That's not really my thing (I'm a big-time carnivore), but it's nice when I'm eating with a vegetarian friend. I've found their pho and stir-fry decent, but the items I especially enjoy are the papaya salad, the mango salad, and the Vietnamese crepes (which are in the appetizer section, but which I routinely eat as my lunch or dinner) -- all excellent. Pretty big portion and generous on the beef brisket. Prices are also very reasonable here. Tried the "hermit shrimp" which are shrimps wrapped in egg roll wrapper and fried. Great place for vegans! They use veggie broth for their vegetable pho's. They also have tons of vegan meat options. Great parking as well.

Nice little restaurant but I have to imagine that the high ratings are from all the vegetarians. In terms of normal food for normal humans that eat meat, the food is very mediocre. My rare beef pho was very bland. read more

The best part about this place is that their vegetarian menu is just as big as their regular menu - and the total menu is huge. They get really busy during lunch due to many offices nearby, and there is usually some wait even if you arrive at 12 on the dot. Their lunchtime options are usually just around $10 with tax, and are smaller portions than other Teriyaki places in the area. They are perfect for lunch though. Rice and soup of the day is included in the lunch menu options. I tried the sweet and spicy chicken which came with some crunchy noodles on top. The Square Lotus green curry and yellow and red curry looked really great too. Their vegetarian dish menu read exactly the same and they put fake meat in their dishes for that menu. I haven't tried this place at dinner yet, so I will come back. Giving it 4 stars right now for the tasty food, adequate service, and decent restaurant like ambiance. Came here to meet up with a friend for lunch. Picked this place coz it had the vegetarian option for the bf and I. I actually opted for the regular pho with beef broth without the meat but tofu instead and bf got the vegetarian pho with the veggie broth and fake ham. Friend got the house special noodle and that looked fantastic. Bf wished he got the same as my order coz the broth isnt as good. To be honest I wouldn't come back unless we are trying to accommodate their diet as a vegetarian. Even though there are lots of places to grab food, and I loooveee to change it up, I still end up grabbing food here at least twice a week. It's soooo good and really reliable. I've never had bad food here. The pho is on point and the asparagus soup is amazing!! Plus they have a really good vegetarian menu for my friends. Water poured fresh from a nice pitcher with lemons in it. I got the chicken asparagus soup. Had that corn-soup consistency, eek, so probably not the healthy soup I was hoping for. But all the veges in it seemed very fresh. Glad I asked for vermicelli noodles on the side-- dunked them in soy sauce and hot sauce and combined. Spring rolls with shrimp were good, but flavorless. Eaters beware!! Only ate here two times and the second time my girlfriend got SEVERE food poisoning from the take-out we ordered on Sunday afternoon. The first time, our experience was pretty amazing, the food was great, fresh and service was fast! Love that they have a vegetarian menu but if they don't practice safe food handling, there's really no point. We ordered the yellow curry with tofu and the sweet and spicy with veggie beef. Not only was our take out not cooked fresh, it was microwaved and the rice and veggie beef pieces were cold in the middle. The veggie beef also tasted old and slightly moldy. I really hate leaving bad reviews especially since the food is pretty good. So, just be careful when dining here, they obviously cut corners and probably don't wash hands or utensils properly which causes cross contamination. Not to mention they don't practice safe heating/cooling and storing of their food. Which is how food borne illness spreads! I work at a cafe/restaurant and that's the ONLY reason this happens. I would still eat here if it wasn't for the food poisoning, but now the trust is gone and we won't be eating or ordering from them again. read more

Spicy noodle soup had a unique flavor.. and the noodle looked/kinda tasted like spaghetti...probably not going to get it next time i go there.
