Square Lotus conveniently located inside the Factoria Village (behind are the T-Mobile HQ towers), is cute and reasonably spaced out, greatly exceeded my expectations for imitation meat variations! It was a Friday evening (Apr 15, 2016), the dining-house was obviously tightly packed. The hubby and me couldn't stop noticing at the busy attenders as well. The minute we entered waitress promptly showed up and gave us a comfortable seating. Liked their ambience, the cozy set up was impressive & welcoming! The restaurant offers an extensive menu with lots of Veg & Non-Veg options to choose from. We directly jumped into their main menu, couldn't wait to try their Veg imitation meat dishes, being a huge fan of this variation style already. We ordered, Main Course # Beef Egg Noodle (V) [$11.95] - Opted for crispy noodles (tried for the first time and without a doubt, a HIT! ) and asked for highest level of spiciness. You can't go wrong with this, it added great yumminess and tasted awesomely flavorful. The veggies carrots, broccoli with fried tofu and the sauce blended well with the crunchy noodles, summing up with just-the-right portion size. # Lotus Curry Chicken (V) with extra Rice [$10.95 + $1.50] - Coconut milk added great flavor to the spicy curry sauce (being a spice addict, we increased it's level), cooked well with fresh bell peppers, eggplants, carrots. Loved this with the side of rice. All in all, a delicious combo! Desserts # Mango Sticky Rice [$5.75] - My husband's all time favorite, thankfully did not disappoint him. I too got a share of this scrumptious dessert. I had an interview in Bellevue Eastgate area that day. After my interview, my buddy and I grabbed a quick late lunch together. Location: It's right off I-405 by Factoria. Great location for people who work in the area or people who travel by the area. There's ton's of parking. Decor: The restaurant is wide, bright and clean. It's always a good sign for a restaurant, especially Asian restaurants. Food: It was a warm day. Therefore, I ordered a noodle salad bowl with grilled chicken on top. I enjoyed the fish sauce dressing. I loved how tender the chicken was and how they marinated the meat. It was a great late lunch. Service: I think it was shortly after 2PM. However, we were still able to order from the lunch menu. Service was good. However, the lady forgot to give my buddy chopsticks. This is my go to pho spot, it's amazing. Food: I always get pho ga, once I find something I love I stick to it. The portion is very generous, the broth is amazing, lots of noodles, plenty of chicken, and add-in options. Perfect for a cold day. Service: normally whenever I go here it's the same time as the T-Mobile lunch which causes a huge lunch swarm but even then it's rather quick to get a table. The service is quick but you don't feel rushed to eat. Environment: timing matters a lot for the wait time. If you're coming on a weekday in the middle of the day be prepared for a wait because of all the T-Mobile people that walk over. The place is very updated, good condition, nice tables and chairs. Can seat a lot of people but the tables are far enough you get privacy. Price: AMAZING. Very nicely turned out spot in the endless strip malls of Factoria. Looks like it probably has the best ambiance in the area. High ceilings, lovely light, lots of plants, and thoughtful non-generic decorations. Very welcoming and tasteful. Service is great. Fast, friendly, efficient. Just what you look for. But what really matters here is the food--for the price, you get amazing value. Really delicious food. They clearly specialize in vegetarian offerings. I had the tropical rolls, which were awesome. Beautifully rolled, just chewy enough, nice crisp bits inside. They clearly thought through the texture and got exactly what they wanted out of the finished product. Mango and grilled chicken...mmm. I ordered the meatball and rare beef pho. Meat is decidedly not the specialty of the house. Clearly it had been frozen at some point and was not originally house-prepped. The meatballs had that continuous, perfectly unbroken texture that looks like it came from a paste, and the rare beef got crinkly once it was cooked. Flavor was fine on both. But what you know what? Even though they were just OK, I'm not even going to pull stars. I'm going to just order the veggie pho from now on here. 'Cause the broth was awesome, and so were the noodles and condiments. This is one of very few Vietnamese restaurants where the menu is quite large. They have curries, rice dishes, pho, vermicelli bowls, etc. It's pretty impressive and should have something for everyone. I think in Seattle we are a spoiled with cheap pho. I would never come here to get pho. 1. because it's nothing special and 2. it's more expensive than most pho places. I have come here a few times for lunch, they have a good lunch special menu. I got their mango salad which was very good and refreshing (not on lunch menu). Vibrant colors and full of flavor. The rest of the menu items I've tried are good, but they don't stand out to me in any way. I would say lunch prices are good, but the regular menu is a on the pricey side. Omg so I had to update my review ASAP! I went here today for lunch because I have been craving some good pho ever since I went to I love pho and it BLEW. So I came here excited because I know what to expect and know I like it...WRONG! First off the water tasted like someone dipped their dirty gym socks in it and it was room temperature with no ice...ew. I was thirsty so I asked for ice and lemon but that didn't even help. Something is definitely off with their tap water and that grosses me out. My visit wasn't off to a good start but I was still excited to get my pho bc come on...it was just water, no big deal, but then my pho came out and it was not hot and NOT as good as usual :( to top everything off, the waiter seemed really annoyed we were even there and I'm not a difficult customer at all! Their food is pretty good. Great for vegetarians since there are so many different options. I'm still a bigger fan of Green Leaf in Chinatown. Pho doesn't come with jalapeños, just beans sprouts, basil, and a lime. Service/food coming out can be a bit slow. Waiter gave us the bill before we even got our last dish, and then came by 5 minutes later to check to see if we paid yet, then when he dropped off the food he checked again. This place shows that Vietnamese food is so much more fun pho. They have so many rice, noodle, and vermicelli dishes and they are all done pretty well! I got the mango chicken entree with brown rice. First, it's super cool that they have brown rice -- for no extra charge too!! The mangos were very fresh and sweet and went really well with the chicken and peppers. I opted to not go too spicy on the sauce, but I probably should have as it the sweet and spicy combo would have worked well. Their summer rolls are also really fresh! They're also different from others in that they put a little crunchy thing in their rolls, sort of like the skin of an egg roll, and it adds such a different texture to it that makes the experience so much better! Overall, this is a really good neighborhood spot that offers up pretty reasonably priced healthy and vegetarian friendly dishes! I've been told that weekday lunch specials here are marvelous, but I'd skip on a weekend lunch here. Catfish Clay Hot Pot (5/5) ~ $13. By far, this was the best dish we had! If you've got an aversion to garlic, skip out on this one! Otherwise, get this one for the delicious garlic flavor paired with soy and hearty slabs of catfish. Mango Salad (4/5) ~$9.50. Mentioned in a number of reviews, definitely would suggest this if you're looking for something light with some tang & bitter notes. Strips of slightly firmer mango with shrimp, carrots, daikon, peanuts, onions and basils served on a bed of slightly bitter red cabbage and a tangy sauce. Vietnamese Crepes (3/5) ~$9.50. Hadn't tried this before, but it's a crepe folded over itself with bean sprouts, chicken and onions inside. Came with a sauce similar to the one that came with the mango salsa and some lettuce, basil, cilantro on the side. Definitely worth trying, but do note it's quite oily. Vietnamese Rice Noodle with Pork (3/5) ~ $10. Vaguely reminiscent of pad thai, the dish came was a stir fry of noodles with veggies, bean sprouts and chicken. Didn't really impress, but it's a solid dish to get. Sauteed Beef Cubes (2/5, ~$11) & Cashew Chicken (1/5, ~$10) - Definitely disappointed here with both. I get it, the dish isn't going to be boatloads of meat. But c'mon... there was a min of 4 parts veg for one part meat (at most of places I've been, it's more like 2 parts veg for 1 part meat). With that in mind, there were a variety of veg, but we ordered these dishes to serve as a proteins and were sorely disappointed. My advice? Skip out on these two. read more

It's probably been a year since I've been here and after a pho craving and reading some reviews here, I finally decided to give this place another try. I really cannot recall what we had when we first tried Square Lotus, but it wasn't remarkable and just left us unimpressed, so we decided we wouldn't be going back. Like I said, I really was craving pho, but didn't feel like going to our usual spot as I find the Thai Iced Tea there somewhat lacking. Reading many positive pho reviews here and also getting clued into the fact that "sweet tea" is Thai Iced Tea on the menu at Square Lotus, I thought it wouldn't be a huge loss if we didn't like it...again. For the time between lunch and dinner on a weekend the place was rather empty, but I don't expect businesses over in the Factoria area to be bustling on weekends either as they're mostly for workday lunch/dinner. I had the meatball pho (my usual order at other spots too) and this was about on the same level. The meatballs did have some odd gristly pieces in them which seemed like they weren't really edible so I left those. The broth was fine, the noodles kind of stayed clumped up more than other places, but eventually broke free. My husband is a huge cilantro fan and found this place to be a bit lacking in cilantro but he did like all the onion. The "sweet tea" here seems like it's the same stuff at Tasty Thai which is wonderful: flavorful with lots of dimension -- none of that bland stuff with way too much sweetener. This is a definite positive and may convince me to come here for pho instead of other places, but it'd take some convincing of my husband to want to come here for his pho craving as he really prefers some other spots (probably due to his love of cilantro and really meaty pho which is not the forte here). Pretty good! My mom loves this place, so I've been here a few times before. Admittedly, I'm not really a pho fan (yeah. I said it.), but my mom is, and apparently this is the only place she can eat pho now....so I am guessing it's prettay good. Sometimes we have to wave down a server in order to actually order food or ask for our check, etc etc, but everyone there is very nice and accommodating. We usually ask for hot water, and rather than just bringing a cup for each of us, they always bring it in a whole teapot so that's a plus! On to actual foods and recommendations: On our most recent visit, we had the egg rolls (pretty standard pho egg rolls...), batter-fried shrimp, pho chin (pho my mom), and Square Lotus curry (pho meee!). Aaaaand I will stop making parenthetical pho puns now. The batter-fried shrimp and egg rolls are both solid appetizers. For specifics, you get nine pretty large batter-fried shrimp that come with a sweet sauce, popped rice-crisp bowl things (eloquent, I know), and cilantro that I hope wasn't supposed to be decorative. It's pretty nice and different from a standard egg/spring roll appetizer, so try it out! My Square Lotus curry was super creamy. The eggplant in it was SO GOOD, and I believe they use Asian eggplants, which are smaller, sweeter, and very tender compared to the typical American ones. In general, though, I would recommend their red curry because otherwise the Square lotus curry doesn't tend to have that much vegetable variation, and the red curry base seems more flavorful. The chicken is pretty unbelievably tender regardless of the curry, though. For our 4 plates, it came to around $37. Portions were generous and we had leftovers for 3 of our dishes to take home, so I would say the prices are unexpectedly low and therefore awesome!!! read more

Very solid lunch dining experience. I can't speak to this place other than their "$7.95 Lunch Special" ....but to be honest, I don't know that I would want to come for anything other than that out of fear that I might be disappointed! For the money, you get a generous portion, soup, good service, and it is all very tasty. There are about 20 or so items to choose from, and on the flip side of the "Special menu" there are about 20 vegetarian options! Pretty impressive. This place gets slammin' busy at exactly 11:45AM with all the Eastgate/Bellevue workerbee yuppie folks yammering around, so be prepared for that! I know that they also serve Pho as I saw many folks order it, although I've never had it here. Looked/smelled great! Everything here is fresh and the restaurant is well managed. The staff always pulls out my chair, tops off the water, and checks in. I did have a huge problem with the taste of the water, it gave off this odd mineral taste from (I'm guessing) a calcium build up in the pipes.. but they've since cleared that up with lemons slices. Either way, I always order the coconut juice which is impacted with sugar and absolutely delicious. The crowd that gathers here is a mix of Asians to Whites to Indians. Vegetarian restaurants scare me. I'm not even a huge meat eater - veggie menus scare me because of the threat of blandness in their regular food. Which is why it took me so long to try this place out. Well Square Lotus def proved me wrong. My first time in I ordered the chicken pho in veggie broth because I didn't know they served chicken broth pho. Boyfriend and I shared the shrimp spring rolls while he ordered the well done beef pho. The spring rolls are two huge rolls cut into half. Delicious - they put a crispy piece of eggroll paper inside the spring roll that BF loved. I don't care either way. The chicken is sliced extra thin which allows the meat to soak in the yummy pho juice. As for the veggie broth - definitely not the best veggie broth I've had (Pho Viet in Chinatown) but decent. Today was my second time back. Being the day after our nation's holiday, my tummy wanted something greasy to soak up the numerous adult beverages I consumed the night before. So I ordered the deep fried tofu egg rolls and chicken pho with chicken broth. Tofu Egg Rolls - friggin delish. I heart mushrooms and tofu so this was perfect. The sauce they come with wasn't my favorite, so I just used hoisin sauce. Hoisin sauce is such a perfect sauce. Chicken pho was hot, tons of white onions and chicken. The pho here tastes 'cleaner' on the palate then neighboring I Love Pho's chicken pho. Less MSG or salt maybe? I can't decipher what it is, but saying a cleaner taste fits well enough. Only reason I gave four stars instead of five, I dislike paying $7.25 - $7.50 for a bowl of pho. Also my trip alone for brunch of tofu egg rolls ($5.95) and chicken pho cost me almost $20 including tax and tip. There's limited Vietnamese food on the eastside, at least limited decent Vietnamese food so I'm very happy that I could just walk to this place from work on a lunch break & not have to travel down to Seattle for random cravings. What makes this place a plus for me is that there's a meat & vegetarian menu since I like to alternate between both type of food. Warning, it gets crazy busy during lunch rush on weekdays so either do take-out or wait a little bit, but that's how you know it's a successful business. I usually do take-out & order from the lunch special that I believe runs on Monday-Friday from 11-3ish. It's pretty reasonable priced, I could get an entree that comes with an option of white or brown rice for about 8 bucks and it's able to fill up a hungry girl that has been running around at work all day. read more

I LOVE spicy food, as spicy as possibly. And they were not joking, the spicy beef noodle really sold me. The portion is huge and very satisfying. The Vietnamese crepe I had was nice, but quite loose. As in not enough bean sprout or meat to keep the thing in tact. But we enjoyed it and that's what mattered. I adore the waitresses, they were so nice and sweet! I'm tempting to try more dishes since they have such thick menu with many other variety. Ok, maybe next time for once when my spicy beef noodle is not calling for me...! Went in tonight with a large group and everybody got exactly what they ordered except for me. I ordered pho with rare beef and instead got pho with tendon, triple, meatball, brisket, and rare beef. I can't deny that I've always wanted to try pho with tendon and tripe, but I literally got lightheaded when I saw how much tripe there was in my bowl. The staff were very friendly and replaced it with what I had ordered. Even still, I could not enjoy my meal. I even spent the rest of the evening feeling ill in fact. I know I sound super needy, but I'm really not! I honestly had no idea a misunderstanding could lead someone to feeling sick all evening... Either way, I won't go out of my way to come here again. I've driven by this place many a times, but have never gone in until tonight. We started off with the chicken mango egg rolls with peanut sauce. Holy yummtastic in your mouth! I ordered a beef pho and my dinner dates ordered each a seafood noodle dish and the mango shrimp salad. (All of which I had a sample bite of). All of it was simply amazing. They were all my favorite! The presentation of the food itself is quite impressive. No skimping on the proteins, and beautiful, colorful execution of all the dishes. The variety of the menu itself is great to vegetarians and meat lovers alike. I couldn't help but look at other people's food as it was coming out saying "Ooo, that must be the lemongrass chicken.. and the yellow curry shrimp...We'll have to get that next time." (Those dishes we obviously didn't taste, but all looked and smelled delicious). The servers were quick, attentive, and came back to ask if we'd like water refills at least 5 times while we were there for 45 minutes. They were all friendly and happy to recommend their personal favorite dishes. Two different servers explained their favorite dish in detail, and it made our mouths water just listening to them! The place was pretty busy (on Friday night) and it was a lot bigger than what it appeared from outside. We ordered the following: tropical spring roll - which was okay. Overall, a solid place. I was confused by the vegetarian/vegan menu -- people used those terms interchangeably. So, I called and asked. The man with whom I spoke said vegetarian and vegan were the same. Upon further clarification, I found out they do not use dairy in their vegetarian menu, and except for a couple dishes with egg, it is indeed vegan. The shredded tofu rolls were pretty standard. I think I could have gone for a bit more flavor in them and a bit less lettuce. The red curry with veggie chicken was good! Very flavorful and very creamy. I would advise ordering the veggie beef for a more 'meat-like' experience. The crunchy noodle was a new experience for me. I loved all the vegetables and the mushroom sauce had a nice kick to it! Yum! What a surprise. My boyfriend and I stopped here on a rainy day for to go. We both got vermicelli noodles but mine was soup. The soup was delicious! There were bamboo shoots so I'm sure that added to the flavor. The soup itself was rather clear. It didn't seem too fatty. The duck meat was ok. Meh.... this please is so so. I came here with some friends last night. I guess this place met my expectation since I didn't expect much from a pho place in Bellevue. I ordered the green papaya salad and it was ok. The portion is pretty small for a salad that cost close to $10 dollars. The servers were nice and attentive but the food came up pretty slow. Don't think I would come back here.... I would rather drive 10 mins and head to international district (green leaf or tamarind tree). read more

I love it here. I've tried various dishes over the years - pho, bun bo hue, vermicelli bowl, fried rice, fresh rolls, mango salad, stir-fried noodles, etc.. and nothing has ever disappointed - both in house and take out. Quality of food is consistent, service is generally not too shabby, and I keep coming back! The restaurant itself is pretty clean but not impeccable. I am among those who are grateful for a "good" Vietnamese place on the Eastside. It is definitely the first that comes to mind! read more
