My sushi roll tasted good but my miso soup and tea were cold. As well I did not see my server Cayli for over 25 minutes when I told her I wanted to order something the last time I saw her. When I would request ponzu or lemons it took over 15 minutes and I was charged for it without knowing it would be charged. Also the lemons were very thinly sliced and I couldn't even use them on my sushi. I had a very poor experience and will not be returning due to the service from my server. read more

Because of the incredible sushi rolls they serve, I was really looking forward to going here. It was just so-so. Decorated food was served. They had a wonderful aroma while serving. However, each of the rolls lacked flavor (or perhaps I came from California so my expectation was a little different). In addition, the cucumber was mushy and the roll was thickly cut. The rest of our items was okay, but nothing noteworthy. With it, the other disks were forgotten. The price seemed a bit excessive. Sushi is one of my favorite foods, and I've been to dozens of various sushi restaurants, however this one is like out-of-the-pocket-pricey for sushi. However, the service was excellent and the environment was pleasant. In this place, we were able to converse without yelling, which made for a terrific experience for us all. If you're a sushi fanatic who is more concerned about the quality of the food than the glitz and glamour of the establishment, I'd find some other places. read more

I want to start by saying I give the food a 5/5 stars! Squid ink has great sushi according to my husband (I don't eat sushi) and the menu is great as it offers things for the whole family and people who aren't sushi lovers! For example the buffalo chicken roll with hot wing sauce and ranch drizzled over rice/cucumber pieces and a good size piece of crispy buffalo chicken. Genius!!! We get at least 1-2 every time! Also have a sweet kids meal where they make a PB and j roll! White bread with peanut butter in between 2 slices...then roll it up and slide it like rolls and drizzle with raspberry jelly. So sweet! The teriyaki bowl is also great and the local art is fresh and modern so the interior is a nice place to be. However...the staff is by far the worst thing about this place and it goes without saying they are insanely expensive! read more

Pretty good for sushi in a State with no proximity to any ocean whatsoever. The Green Bean Tempura appetizer was delicious! Light, crunchy, full of flavor, and I reserved the dipping sauce for the sushi rolls - good choice. The East Meets West roll was my favorite roll - there's A LOT going on - it's stuffed full of tuna, shrimp, crab, and delicious bits like honey jalapeño and spicy aioli. This one will fill you up! The Buffalo chicken roll was my least favorite. There's just something so wrong about getting a roll with cooked chicken at a sushi place, and while the Buffalo sauce was properly vinegar-y, it was just "off." I don't know how else to describe it; Moose Sauce? It just wasn't Buffalo sauce. Stick to the chicken bowls or bar bite baskets. Sushi isn't where this belongs. The other rolls were pretty good, but the menu was a tad one-note for me. It seemed like a spicy version of fish or a spicy sauce was an ingredient in nearly every roll. I love spicy, but I also love variety. Perhaps a version of a rainbow roll? Or a salmon roll with masago? I dunno... something different. The yellow tail sashimi was excellent. I'd definitely order that again - it melts in your mouth like butter. No squid ink to be found anywhere. They literally ran out of calamari; 50% or their namesake. read more

Anybody else ever wonder who the first person was to look at a squid and think, "Man that looks tasty!" Anyway, we were headed to another place that we had been wanting to try (another review pending once we get there, the sign on the door said family emergency). We called an audible and wound up at Squid Ink. Haven't been here in years. We sat at the bar (there's a pattern here) and were warmly greeted by Cristina the bartender who took our drink order and quickly filled it like the pro that she is. For appetizer we ordered the Calamari (Squid n Nancy) which came out really fast. It was fresh and hot. It could have used a little salt, but there wasn't a shaker in reach so we powered through (it was late, we were hungry). For dinner my lovely bride ordered chicken fried rice and I ordered Ramon. Both were good. Not bad, but not great. Good. To summarize, our service was great (thanks to Cristina) our food was good. I would go back but I don't think I'll crave it. After forever and ever I've been wanting to try Squid Ink. Finally came here over the weekend. Let's start with the staff and how freaking cute and nice ever girl who works here is. Omg so cute and so freaking friendly. Squid ink only gets 3 stars bc the food isn't that great. The sushi was warm which is nasty to me. The "Asian hot pot" is far from what hot pot is also it def wasn't any wagyu it tasted like normal beef. The chicken fried rice tasted burnt. It's just overly priced food. When my husband & I first moved to the area, we absolutely loved Squid Ink & would go there almost weekly. Unfortunately, the quality has gone down & we've been on the hunt for new sushi places in the area. My husband & I are vegetarian & they have a good selection of vegetarian options which we love. However, the past few times we have gone, the avocados in our rolls were not ripe at all. You couldn't even bend the avocado with your fingers - that's how unripe they were. Additionally, if you are someone like us who gets soy paper, the quality of the soy paper is horrendous & our rolls just fall apart making it unenjoyable to eat. Nights... especially weekend nights are hard to get into without a wait, but the wait is worth it. It's a vibe with clean open spaces and and outside patio and bar! My sisters and I love this place. Delicious drinks and specialty sushi for sure. I recommend the "home wrecker" roll and spicy edamame!! Happy hour is the way to go because it isn't super cheap- but overall amazing place. Love the atmosphere especially if you sit at the bar or outside!! read more

I have never been disappointed coming to Squid Ink. The service is always great. The food is delicious. And the lunch specials are unbeatable. Definitely a good spot to stop for sushi in this area. I was pleasantly surprised by this spot. It's been here for year and for whatever reason I've never tried it. The ambiance is nice. Feels upscale, has great music, indoor and outdoor seating (has heat lamps), and still feels very family owned. I came for happy hour and was very impressed with the selection. I ordered Squid and Nancy which is the best calamari I've ever had. It's mixed with bell peppers and has such a flaky breading. I also had their popular happy hour drink. The server was super friendly both at my table and at the bar. A few of my friends ordered Crab Wontons, California Rolls, Potstickers (which were amazing and crispy), and chicken wings (those I didn't love). Great service and great food! We took a trip to visit our friend out in Peoria and this is what he recommended. Definitely wasn't a disappointment. My husband had the sushi mix lunch and I had the sashimi mix. It came with a side salad or miso soup. We both had the salad and the dressing is legit! The crab rangoon was addicting that we had ordered two orders! So that's a definite recommendation. My friend had the chicken salad. I believe it is the same dressing as our side salad, so I am sure it is darn good. Nothing was left in our plates except some broccoli.. haha. Will be back! read more

We did our first take out from Squid Ink Sushi in Peoria and I'm glad we did. I tried the Scottish Salmon Bowl and My husband tried the Beef Yakisoba made with tender filet mignon. I thought both bowls were really good and were a really great value. Really nice great meals for only around $15. each. They also have a nice patio for outdoor dining. Our 9th time here since we moved to the area and we were seated out on the patio.  They had live music and the musician was absolutely fantastic.  He has a great voice, and his song choices were really good.  We very much enjoyed him and were singing along with a lot of his tunes. We were fortunate to be seated in Kaitlyn's section, she was simply wonderful.  She was super friendly, really attentive, very knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations and suggestions to us.  Honestly, we've always had good service, but Kaitlyn provided the best we've ever had at Squid Ink.  We were there for a mini celebration of sorts: our experience with Kaitlyn as our server made it all the more special.
