I loved this old building!! It's huge and has seating right on the beach as well as several rooms with breathtaking views. the seafood scampi was awful. They had no problem taking the meal back however and I was happy with the coconut shrimp $18. The teriyaki chicken with pineapple was too smoked for my liking. The coconut bread was to die for! I love Squidlips and have since they took over - but I liked the previous grill/bar here. Great happy hour shrimp, usually oysters. And more + drink specials. I don't know why people wait for the dining rooms - they are okay. We always go to either the outside bars, the open bar, or if cold the inside rustic bar. Happy hour daily, music daily. Yep, the get slammed sometimes and it slow s service but 90% of the time my service is excellent and has been dor years. read more

Visiting from out of town. My cousin had a groupon for an appetizer and two entrees. A few of the entrees weren't included but everything else was. We just sat down for happy hour. They had a nice selection of drinks. We ordered tuna tartar and coconut shrimp for starters. Our entrees were mahi mahi with shrimp and crab stuffed shrimp. I have only been to the bar at Squid Lips. Pleased that they serve Yuengling beer on tap which I ordered. This was an afternoon stop after errands. I ordered the Chicken Kabob off the app menu. Chicken was good with pineapple chucks and a orange slice with a semi-sweet glaze. It was good. The building is old and gives an old Florida kind of vibe. Locals know the menu is a hit or miss thing. Great view of the Indian River with a Tiki bar and music on weekends. It can be a fun place to go with family and friends. Will be back. read more

We have eaten here twice this week! Excellent food and service! The oak grilled grouper with Key Lime sauce was delicate and moist with a delicious lightly smokey taste. Their sauteed vegetable were fresh and tasty, and the scalloped potatoes were creamy and cheesy! read more

They use swai fish in their fish & chips. Seriously? Of all the amazing fresh fish we have in Florida, you use a Southeastern Asian catfish for your fish & chips? Indeed they do. I happen to be allergic to catfish and I always ask what the fish is if it says "fresh white fish" or whatever on the menu. I didn't think I would have to ask while ordering your basic fish & chips though. I mean, at least use cod right? Anyway, I discovered they use swai because I had to call them after puking my brains out and having the cold sweats. I will give them 2 stars for the atmosphere though. I would probably give them 3 stars if not for the swai and the expensive drinks. I've had several items on the menu and just know now to eat there now. I just go for drinks occasionally. Great little place on the shore of the inland waterway. I have been here a few times while traveling on business to the area, and each time it's a great stop. The best item on the menu has to be the chips appetizer. It's a huge stack of home made potato chips drizzled with a blue cheese sauce and a balsamic reduction then covered in onions and tomatoes. It's absolutely delicious and a definite assault on your taste buds! the rest of the menu is just as unique and delicious with option for just about any taste. There is often live music out on the patio bar where you can enjoy the cool breeze coming in off of the water. They even have tables and beach chairs down on the sand right at the water's edge. It's a very casual comfortable place. Great drinks, great food and great place to just relax and decompress. The only thing preventing a full 5 stars is the staff. While they are very friendly, don't be in too much of a hurry as they tend take a while to get to things, especially on the patio bar, but I would still put this on your must-do list while in the Melbourne area. read more

My family really loves this place. We have been to both locations and have found them to both be consistently good. They start you of with some complimentary bread which is amazing (has a hint of coconut and maybe pineapple). For and appetizer, we got the Crunchy Fish Fingers (amazing). For the the entrees, my wife had the Maui Reuben and I had the Abaco Fish Sandwich. We both thoroughly enjoyed our selections. I have been here a couple of times with family. Kind of disappointed, service was not friendly. Everyone working there just seemed ticked off to even be getting customers... Probably because it seems to be staffed by a bunch of 20-year-olds. Last time I went, there were two "hostesses" and neither of them seemed to think it was their responsibility to take us. Then they seated is at a table way too small for our party, even though we were surrounded by larger tables. And we had kids with us, making it feel even more cramped-- you know how kids can be. Service was slow and the server forgot my salad entirely. To top it off, I reminded them when they brought out the food, table was completely full and cluttered, and then he asked if I still wanted the salad. Additionally, although they have a lot of novelty cocktails (Squid Ink being the worst) half of them are just tasteless combos of things that probably seemed like a good idea at the time, but just didn't pan out. I would recommend something small and local. This may be a tourist town, but I've gotten good southern hospitality at plenty of other locations in the area. read more

As busy as they were, we were seated within 10 minutes--barely had time to get a drink at the bar--terrific. The food was very good, and our waiter, Patrick, was very attentive and personable. The service was great. Our only disappointment was that, when we went to use a "loot" certificate, they would not accept it. In all fairness, it was expired; however, it expired during the covid pandemic, when the restaurants shut down, and this was our first opportunity to use it. It wasn't very busy, and Mike the bartender was extremely attentive and very nice (turns out that he graduated from my high school, about 2 hours' east!). Go Braves! I had the fried grouper sandwich, and it may have been the best-tasting one I've had in a very long time, even rivaling Frenchy's in Clearwater! They roll it in corn flakes, and it was awesome. The draft beer selection was pretty good: they featured Sweetwater 420 and Florida Beer Company. The only knock on my experience was when I asked for a second beer from one of the other servers when Mike was busy mixing some drinks for others, but I had to ask for it a second time. This used to be one of our favorite places all the way back to the original location at Sebastian. However, over the past nine months the quality of food has steadily declined. Tonight my wife and I had the the blackened mahi. Mine was okay, but hers was burned. The mixed vegetables were horrendous, bland, with no seasoning. Service was good. The quality of the food does not match the price they demand. Two weeks ago a roach crawled up my leg while eating my meal. Told the waiter about it, who apologized, but no attempt was made to reconcile. They need some overall attention to detail improvements. read more

Where else can you relax, listen to live music and overlook the river? My family comes down from up north a couple of times a year, and whenever they are down we always have to take a trip to Squid Lips. The food here is amazing. I always get the seared tuna appetizer and the openwater burger which is a delicious burger loaded with blue cheese. The seafood selections are amazing. You can get fresh clams and they have different types of fresh fish you can order. The staff is always amazing and accommodating. You can usually expect about a 10-15 min wait. But it's actually rather quick for places in the area. I highly recommend checking this place out if your in town. read more

So I went back here again this year when in Florida and had the same waiter! The service here is hard to beat, everyone is so nice. I had the crunchy fish fry with garlic mashed potatoes. It was perfect. There was a small delay in our food because of a mix up in the kitchen. The manager came and apologized, and comped us two pieces of Key Lime Pie that we ordered to go. Good food, good service, nice ocean view. Can't beat it! read more

My husband and I went into this place hoping that it was going to be great due to the high overall reviews on yelp. It was not a bad experience, but I wouldn't seek the restaurant out again. We went on a Saturday night about 7pm and was told there was a 25 minute wait - no big deal! So we had a drink at the bar and the bartenders there were surprised we were told there was a wait....as were we as we looked into the restaurant and saw at least a half dozen open tables. Maybe they just didn't want to overseat the wait staff? Our best experience was during this time at the bar! The bar serves a more limited menu and we should have stayed there. The bar staff were friendly, engaging and generous in the drink pours. Once we got seated, our waitress was nice but not overly engaging. The menu had a lot to choose from - my husband and I each ordered a specialty drink and also the bacon wrapped scallops. The scallops were on recommendation from one of the bar staff as being amazing - to be honest, they were average to good. I got the stuffed flounder and husband got the shrimp/chicken/sausage jambalaya. Both were average as well, nothing to write home about. If you are looking for a place that has a large selection of decent food, the ability to seat large groups and is family friendly, this is a nice place. Decided to try this one out on Easter. Got a table with my family pretty quick so not a long wait. Had the Tuna tartar appetizer which hit the mark. For the main course we had the Seafood Lasagna, Pineapple teriyaki chicken sandwich w/ fries and the Pineapple teriyaki mahi sandwich w/ fries. Seafood lasagna was mediocre at best but both sandwiches were great. What killed this review was the service! The service was slow and if it weren't for the appetizer we might have starved before our food arrived. Over all, atmosphere and food earned the 3 stars by themselves.
