I went here for the first time based on other yelp reviews while in the area. The mango cocktail was very good and same with the rum runner. They offer a 32 oz bucket size cocktail which is recommended. They need to watch the amount of ice though. The grilled chicken teriyaki sandwich was just OK. The Cuban is supposed to be better. The waitress was friendly and attentive. This restaurant is right on the beach and makes a great date place. I give this place 3.5 stars. read more

Celebrating a birthday and the view was to die for. We sat inside and werme there around 430 for an early dinner. The meal came with bread. We ordered the happy hour mussels app....worth the price...very good. I order the stuffed flounder and my wife ordered the ahi and shrimp dinner. My stuffed flounder was paired with french fries and cole slaw. The fish was well seasoned and the lobster/crab stuffing was very good. It was well sauced and seasoned. The fries were really good but the slaw was lacking. The mahi was a large portion and the shrimp were well seasoned. Paired with garlic mashed potatoes and cole slaw....again the starch was good but the slaw "homemade" could have been left at home. Our server was on it at first but was absent at the end as he was hangin gout shooting the breeze and not watching his tables.......and we had to ask for bread.....the bread was a coconut bread and I guess our server was saving us....it was dried out and I was thankful for all the butter he brought...... We had a great Saturday night out in a crowded restaurant that serves many repeat, friendly locals, people at the music fest, snowbirds & tourists. Food is always good, drinks too. What really made this past Saturday was the band St. John's Wood and mom and our friends sitting at one of the beach tables bundled up in sweaters, jeans, boots and blankets. Great service. Great views of the intracoastal. Lucky to have valet service when we arrived. We've moved from indialantic to cocoa beach but still prefer to drive to this original location. Hubby's burger was so good I asked our waitress if she could manage the smallest burger but add the bourbon sauce he'd had, and she got me the kids size - perfect after a bowl of steamed little neck clams. read more

Came here on a Friday night for the first time. We were a bit early which meant the place was quite empty and it was still bright out which we were very lucky because we got a table right at the edge on the outside by the water. Super sunny, which is great for my tan and the heat. I absolutely enjoy, especially since I'm not from the area. Menu is pretty extensive lots of seafood options and we ordered one appetizer to share and two entrées which turned out to be more than enough. This place is great. It gets packed. There is a great outdoor seating area. When I was there I did eat outdoors, and what I ordered was totally perfect. For these reasons, I am giving them 5 stars. I do have a complaint. But rest assured I will go back and highly recommend this place. Problems: - Apparently if you sit inside you get one menu and if you sit outside you get a more limited menu. I don't understand how walking through a doorway would make several options no longer available to me. I didn't look at the indoor menu, so I don't know what I missed. It was still very strange to hear when I walked in to the restaurant. And literally everyone wanted to eat outside. So... I don't get it. Super weird. - Outdoor seating is really strange. It is like first come first serve, but, you end up awkwardly standing around, staring at people, waiting for them to stand up so you can jump into their spot. At one point I wasn't sure if I had cut someone else off or not as they stared at me with a stank face. So.... That was weird too. Overall, great place. Love Squid Lips! It's one of my favorite places to go. Staff is always friends and the food is great! Bacon wrapped plantains and my usual go to, but the coconut shrimp are great also! If you are really hungry the seafood lasagna is great, very filling. I love the pork sweet potato and crab/lobster cakes too. The only miss is the fries, you can skip 'em. Staff are always friendly and the decor is just want you want for a water front place. Last time we went and watched dolphins playing in front of a rainbow. I mean, can it get better? I came here with a group of 12, and they were able to accommodate us right away. (Keep in mind we visited in the off season) Our waiter was very kind (Shane I believe), and knowledgeable of the menu. I ordered the lobster/crab cake. I really enjoyed it. It came with two sides. I got fries and garlic mashed potatoes. I loved the fries, the mashed potatoes not so much. Setting is absolutely beautiful. The physical restaurant itself is a work in progress (literally, they're upgrading as I speak). The hostess wasn't the best greeter in the world, but our server was very nice and helpful with suggestions. Food was all really solid. Some of the appetizers were a little smaller than I hoped but they probably make sense for the price they charge. My dad's fish sandwich was enormous. I Enjoyed the fried fish blt wrap and the bacon wrapped scallops. Would've loved to see more Covid guidelines being followed but it is Florida and the state doesn't enforce any, so I get it. I'm not a local and some of those that probably are seemed to be coming in without masks pretty regularly. Also, with the breeze outside, took on a lot of smoke from other guests, even from a table about 30+ feet away. Overall it was a good experience and I would go back. Definitely lived up to its 3 star reputation, barely. Outdoor seating is dirty, bad smells, and has ants everywhere. Yes, it's on the water and we're in Florida but that's why top locations are up at 5am powerwashing their outdoor seating areas. Very typical location that's a bit run down had bar level food and relies on their waterfront location. $20 lobster crab cake was a massive let down. No sign of the crab or lobster it was all filler and almost tasted like it was all blessing into a dip like blend and cooked. Then you add $2+ to get French fries on a $20 lunch you're offered potato chips from a bag or you can pay for a real side. If you have to eat there because it's convenient and or you want to drink close by, stick to fried items, my daughters chicken tenders were quite good but again you pay $2+ for French fries instead of bag chips. I wouldn't complain if you were given homemade potato chips but this is pathetic. My son's fried fish sandwich was good but again it's a fried sandwich, "safezone".... Fried chicken sandwich was ok it's what you'd expect at a bar. The Cuban was ok. I would assume this is all Sysco food stuff all out of a bag or box definitely no fresh made bread. My wife got the poke bowl and asked for the tuna to be medium. They were raw and apparently the cook didnt bother to tell the waitress they wouldn't cook it or they overlooked it who knows. She tossed the food in the trash and didn't offer to get the order fixed. As a former restaurant owner its sad to see so much potential driven down to mediocre but I'm assuming it's meant to be a dive bar on the water with basic food from a big box delivery where most food is already 80% prepared. The mixed drinks are basic, lemonade was gross and expensive. Set your expectations low and enjoy the breeze.... Waitress wasn't necessarily rude or anything but I think they probably get tired of disappointing people when all these things are easily upgraded with a slight bit of effort from the ownership and management. read more

We had our high school reunion here at $40 pp. We had sliders, a few other finger foods, and a crock pot of nacho cheese dip. The dessert bar was great but I would have much rather had a decent "buffet" of dinner items. Very disappointing. Most of us left to eat at another place because we were still hungry at 9pm. The location and atmosphere are great, being on the water but we felt very short-changed with the food especially having paid so much money for what we thought would be a nice dinner. I live down in Boynton but we drive to Cocoa Village occasionally and when we do we eat at Squid Lips. Was there the other day on a Saturday night. Place wasn't crowded when we got there at about 7pm. Wife and I started off with the conch fritters which we thought were great. Ask for the cocktail sauce if you don't care for the sauce that normally comes with it. Was a nice sized portion. For our mains wife ordered pulled pork sandwich that came with chips and cole slaw, I ordered the hamburger with crab cake that comes with fries. The combo of the crab cake and a burger really tastes great and makes it like surf and turf on a bun. The gal who served us was terrific and the view from the covered patio to the water and the island makes for a nice experience. Definitely worth going to and there's a pier you can walk on that goes over the water if you just want to relax after your meal. read more

The Food was a little Pricey running around $ 26.00 for a Entree But that was Not the Problem. The Problem was the Food had No Taste to it. This is a First for me. Every thing from the Meat which was Mahia to the rice to the vegetables which was canned and not Fresh was TASTELESS There are a LOT of Seafood places in Brevard County and I will tell everyone I know Not to go here. We were waiting too long to get our Check because they didn't have enough staff. The Manager stopped by our table and asked how our meals were ??? I told her my meal tasted like this ask I pointed to a stack of napkins sitting on the table. This didn't throw her at all. She already knew that the food they were serving was Tasteless. Overall good experience at a well-known locals and tourist hotspot! Our waitress was Kellyanne and she was absolutely fantastic! Beyond friendly, made great suggestions about food and was readily available. My reasons for 4/5 stars I will explain below. The [Fried Shrimp Basket] was absolutely phenomenal! Decent sized succulent shrimp that were lightly battered that were amazing with their cocktail sauce! It comes with 2 sides, which I picked their seasoned fries and coleslaw which were both outstanding! The [Mahi Reuben] was good, I would not say great. Especially since it is a very popular food in this area. I would say it is not great only because the sandwich was not proportional, the bread, sauerkraut and cheese were all good but the pieces of mahi were VERY thick with not enough seasoning. So because of the size of the fish the sandwich was more on the bland side. However the fish quality itself was very good in-light of that! *Not pictured* we had the [Coconut Shrimp] appetizer that we found slightly odd. The shrimp themselves were good, however you are served 5 normal sized butterflied shrimp for $12.99. They were however very good - just wish we had a tad more for the price considering whole meal prices aren't much more! *Not pictured* The [Coconut Bread] served with our meals that we ordered was very good! A light, fluffy, sweet bread featuring coconut shavings served with butter. We did order a few mixed drinks as well, you definitely get the bang for your buck with the Longboard Tea (Long Island style), you really taste the alcohol which we like of course! I literally just redownloaded yelp just to write this review. Let me start by saying I work in the service industry. I am very understanding and low maintenance when going out to eat. I know what it's like to be in the weeds. But I'm sorry this place sucks when it comes to both food and service. Waiter was older lady I think her name was Kelly. Not sure. Terrible service. Ordered beers. She forgot them. they came finally after 15 mins warm. Ordered oysters, no saltines or cocktail sauce. Ordered chowder. No spoon. Our server never once stopped in to checked on us. We had been at the beach all day and were really hungry but after the service I told my husband let's just go to another restaurant. The onlyyyyy time she came running to us was to drop off the check she never showed up to charge the card. We had to go to the host to close our check. when she saw us at the host stand she ran up to us with a credit card machine and her exact words were, "I have other tables to tend to". Girl, what? We are your table. One of your 3 tablessss. What actually happened was that she had a 6 top outside that she thought she was going to make more money off of. She wasn't in the weeds, she had 3 tables at the time. First time in my life I ever gave someone a zero tip. I'm mad I even spent my money here. After I left I called to speak to the manager and he seemed like he really didn't care about customer service either. Will never step foot here again. Whack. Save your money we went to longboards at the crown plaza over looking the water and it was such a good time. Live music and great food. read more

I so looked forward to going to Squid Lips, I had always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Last night, 9/19/24 - was terrible!! Perhaps they have changed the kitchen staff? I ordered "Our salad" - which I have had multiple times before and loved - last night it was unedible. The signature vanilla vinegarette dressing tasted like it had been scraped from the bottom of the trash - there was nothing pleasant about the taste! One of my companions ordered the chips with balsamic and blue cheese crumbles - she sent it back because the balsamic tasted "stale;" she ordered a replacement dish of queso and tortilla chips - that too was unedible - queso was cold - ice cold, chips were too salty to eat. They brought her regular potato chips instead - they were soggy. All in all, food wise, we were terrribly disappointed and left hungry. The music was great!! read more

ZERO STARS!!! RUDE SERVICE at host stand. I came in today (Thursday at 6:30 pm) with my boyfriend, we used to be locals in the area and ever since we relocated to Orlando we have been excited to come back, hang at the beach and eat at our (what once was ) favorite bar. We brought our emotional support dog and usually places around the beach are dog friendly. We are big rule followers so we understand if dogs aren't allowed However the Host with brunette hair about 5'6 was EXTREMELY rude about it and ask " What does your dog do for you? " this was all said in a very condescending tone. After we explained to her that she's was an emotional support animal she rudely said " Dogs aren't allowed" with attitude and made us feel extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed. I've been in the hospitality industry to 15 years and there are ways to speak to customers while keeping a calm demeanor all while up holding rules. I won't be back! Luckily we went right down the street to Frigate's waterfront bar and grill and the staff there were extremely polite and accommodating. Service was great, staff very pleasant, food, huh, ordered mussel app, WAY to much cheese, would have liked to taste the mussels also. Had mahi grilled sandwich, more like flat top cooked instead of grilled. Served on a huge bun, way to much bread for the portion size of the fish, only ate bottom portion of bun. Had my first outdoor dining experience in Melbourne, as I was visiting. I was so excited to try Squid Lips; family gave it great review. Location and parking were great. We were given options of where to sit, so I chose outside. (There was a very bad odor, like sewage, that permeated throughout.) Our server was very helpful and explained that the evenings have live entertainment. Simple arnold palmer was refreshing and perfect ratio of tea and lemonade. We did a variation of grilled pineappke teriyaki mahi sandwich, no bun and side caesaer. Unsure why we got a side of mayo. It was still delicious and fresh. When we walked back into restaurant to leave, that sewage odor was even worse. Something that should be reviewed. Loved Squid Lips. I'll be back when I get back down to MLB. read more

Don't eat here! I feel bad for the employees. The food is horrible and I'm guessing the menu hasn't been updated in decades. The fish, shrimp, and burgers taste as if they were grilled on a grill that has never been cleaned. Plan to hit the McDonald's drive thru on your way home. You're not going to eat your entree. Our server Sam was lovely and doing his best. It's not his fault. This place is a disaster. This is an addition.. realized when I got home they charged me for the entree that I sent back. When it came out, I was surprised to see fried and battered fish on the taco as the menu did not reflect such. I happen to have celiac and could not eat the tacos. I requested fish tacos not fried, the server spoke with the manager who REFUSED TO MAKE ANY CHANGES OR SUBSTITUTIONS. So, now I'm stuck with this taco meal that was not listed as "battered and fried" that would make me literally sick to eat and all the business can say is "we don't do substitutions here". Bad business. Bad practice. Bad customer service. Sadly would advise to avoid this place.
