The pancakes are a good size and very fluffy, hash browns and eggs are standard but they don't stand out. Service is good, it's tough for them to check in enough considering how busy it was so I can't fault for that. Normally I reach out directly to the establishment if the meal is questionable, unfortunately this isn't possible with Stacks (website doesn't allow for this). When I walked in this morning I had flashbacks of eating here with my father many years back, fond memories are always a plus. I ordered the Carnitas skillet breakfast, when I came it looked good, eating it was a different story. It's expected that the potatoes, carnitas and cheeses would be on the drier, crispy side, the over easy eggs is what is supposed to provide the creamy element. The eggs were over medium + giving it a harder yolk. This coupled with the flavor of the carnitas, made it extremely dry and unflavored. The meal was a complete miss and is rated a 1. My over the years experience put it all at a 2 rating. I say this a lot, things are tough out there right now, meals are expensive and sometimes things aren't perfect. But this is a long term, well established place, the bar isn't set so high to expect a decent meal. It sincerely should be a given (especially for return customers). They offer a variety of flavored options, but not all of them are made with real fruit juice -- some use a syrup that I personally didn't love. I actually had a better impression of Stacks before this last visit. I haven't been there for quite a long time. So maybe I just mistakenly remember it being better than it was. Or maybe there's just better competition now. We decided to go due to a Groupon. We were 2 adults and 2 kids. The kids wanted to order from the kids menu naturally but unfortunately the server said the Groupon only applies if we get 4 entrees and it couldn't be from the kids menu. Kinda a let down tbh. One of my kids wanted strawberries on his pancakes. The only way to do that was to get the "white chocolate and strawberries pancakes" and leave out the white chocolate. I don't know, but $14 for two pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream sounds pretty steep to me. The pancakes tasted good. $14 good? Nah. For myself I got the veggie crepe. It was ok. It was pretty bland. The avocados were pretty brown. The rest was fine. The cup of fruit was pretty laughable. It came in a container you would use for a side of sauce. It was literally 2 grapes, half a strawberry, 4 bites of melon and 1 bite of pineapple. Maybe if the environment and service was outstanding like Sweet Maple or GIWA I could understand the price. Friday walked in around 1:30pm, got seated right away. And inside decorations follow the traditional American breakfast setup, it looks a little worn but still acceptable clean . It also offers outside seating where you can enjoy the downtown street people watching or bring your pet to enjoy the time with you. For this trip, I really enjoyed my order -- breakfast burritos, generous cheese and fresh vegetables, the only thing can be improved is the potato, needs some taste bud wake-up elements. Last Wednesday I went to Stacks with my granddaughter. It Was about 9:45 am, only a third of restaurant was filled. I ordered coffee, hot chocolate , then our breakfast order. The waitress had to be prompted twice to bring my granddaughters hot chocolate. It came halfway through our breakfast. The hash browns were cold. Too much cheese on the cheese omelet. Our waitress pretty much ignored us. Warning on tipping in a lot of Bay Area eateries!!! Our waitress hovered over me, holding the handheld charging device halfway to her, halfway to me, so she could watch. I wanted to only leave a 10% tip, but felt guilt tripped to leave more, so I put in "15". This is when you choose Custom Tip. It will show that tip will be calculated as a Percent. I put in 15. I didn't realize it was calculating it as a dollar amount ($15.00) until looking at my receipt later. I left her a $15.00 tip on a $47.00 bill!! She probably saw this and said nothing. All my fault, everyone just look carefully on how the tip is being calculated on those handhelds. I caught the same thing later in the week at an ice cream store. read more

Came here for breakfast with two others on a rainy Sunday morning and we didn't have to wait long before being seated. We got there around 9 AM and I prefer savory food over sweet so I opened for the South of the Border House Special because I thought it was scrambled eggs that I would be able to fold into my own tortilla, but sadly that was not the case. The plate arrived with the tortillas already wrapped with sour cream, guac, and the red sauce on it which made it impossible to pick up so I had to eat a burrito with a knife and fork. The way the potatoes were cut on the plate was also very interesting where it was a bit too big because the potatoes weren't crispy. ~~Parking: There's street parking available, but it's also right across the street from a parking structure. ~~Service: Okay. But the owner/host was very welcoming and friendly and immediately we were waved in with seats available at the back. It's a bit like a diner style, very casual and we ordered brunch items. Saturday, May 31st: I hadn't been here in about 6 months, and boy, was I disappointed. I got the Chicken Alfredo Omelette for the first time with Cottage Cheese and Sourdough Toast. NOT thrilled. The wait staff was very cheerful and gracious, but the food? I am debating whether to go back. The "Alfredo Sauce" on top of my omelette was curdled and overly salted. I scraped the sauce off to the side. The Cottage Cheese had a strange sweet flavor and was a bit soupy. I asked for butter, as I could not see that the cold toast was even buttered. It wasn't even busy, which tells me something. Not happy at all. I was taken there for a Birthday Brunch, as I've enjoyed my previous meals there. I put half of my omelette in a To-Go box, just to be polite to my friend, and when I got home, I threw it in the garbage. I'll give it one more chance, but I'll tell you... My family finally came to stacks in Campbell finally we hear about it for year but never came and so glad we finally did and we are amazed . Now this is our breakfast place with our kids we are so happy . We now come all the way from San Jose to come to stacks in Campbell and enjoy it every time . First impressions: Very busy and tight. But people seem to be enjoying their food. Hostess and who I think seems to the the manager are friendly and accommodating. The food was good for brunch. The only think I didn't find tasteful is that they have the little containers with half and half already there and it's refilled not given in a new and clean container. I found that disgusting since who knows How long it's been sitting there, I don't know if the people before us were sanitary, etc. I'm glad I ordered a hot chocolate and not coffee. I noticed that there was table outside next to things electrical box and that was weird. I don't think that should be a place to sit. They are definitely busy. I met my two friends who were already ensconced in a spacious booth, very comfy with lots of room to spread out. We ordered the Fried Chicken and waffle ($17.00), Thai Chicken salad, and the Fitness Trainer egg white omelet. We asked Alfonso, our kind server if we could have separate checks and he said he'd do his best. That's all I ask! Food was hot, delicious, and beautifully plated. I revered Stacks since I started coming here over 20 years ago. Sadly, the food has gone downhill. The veggie omelet I had recently was dry, bland and disappointing. I went for an old fave, a Benedict on a previous visit. The Hollandaise was awful! Actually inedible. Do they need new pots and pans? Better cooks? I've never had a nutella latte before, so I wanted to try but honestly, I wouldn't order it again. Lots of beans, olives, and gunk especially with the salsa. The potatoes on the side were pretty good though. I enjoyed the cookies and creme pancakes, it was a big serving size with three pancakes my girlfriend and I couldn't even finish it. Good amount of oreos throughout the pancake. Very delicious for that sweet tooth. My low rating of 3.5 comes from just the blandness of the huevos rancheros and the metal/plastic scrap that my girlfriend found in her sandwich. She kept picking at her sandwich and found three to four more scraps which made her not want to eat the rest of it. Overall, it is a cute little brunch spot in a nice area. For many years, this has been one of my favorite places -- the food is good, the service is fast, and on Sundays it's perfect because we usually stop by after going to the farmers market. It used to be ideal to go with my family or friends, but unfortunately, we had a very unpleasant experience two Sundays ago, and I don't plan on going back. As usual, I went with my family, and the wait was short. We sat down, and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We ordered our food and were eating peacefully when my husband told me to discreetly look down at the floor. To my surprise, there was a huge cockroach. My husband had felt something crawling on his leg, and very calmly, he brushed it off, saw what it was, and stomped on it. I'm just thankful it didn't happen to me, because my reaction would have been completely different. By chance, at that exact moment, the manager was walking by. I asked her to come over and told her what happened. She turned around without saying a word, went to get a broom and dustpan, cleaned it up, and left. She never apologized or showed any sign of empathy -- it was as if nothing had happened. Like I mentioned, I've been a customer here for years. I've even gotten to know some of the staff, from bussers to a few past managers, and they were always kind and attentive.
