Came in for brunch today for 5 year anniversary. Service was fast and friendly. Wife had the Louie speciality which had real crab! She enjoyed it so much. I went and tried something new and had the Popeyes omelet. I literally finished my plate with no crumbs. It was delicious, prob have that's again!!! Waitress came by frequently to check up on us and when we went to leave to pay the cashier, the cashier was extremely friendly and thanked us for our visit. I haven't been here in a while and it's not as great as I remembered. Waited 40 minutes on Sunday. It's a great place to put your name down first and head to the farmers market. The pancakes are still pretty good but the prices went up quite a bit. $6 for 4 pieces of bacon $7 for 2 pancakes. $12 for a basic breakfast with two eggs & sausage. If I had time I could probably make a cheaper and maybe better breakfast. read more

Yes we knew the wait was long. The food and our server were awesome to excellent, but the customer service, and lack of communication from the host/hostess left quite the negative impressions. I wait listed for a table for 6, changed it to 5, changed it to 6 with the same hostess within 30 minutes wait. When we were called there were 5 of us, one is running late. Dialog: Me: Can you seat us? Hostess: No, your full party has to be here. Me: Ok, can you seat us 5? Hostess: ... Wait. Me: Ok. Twenty minutes past & if I recalled correctly at least 6 parties were called seated for tables accommodating parties ranging from 2-6 people. What the hell!?! Did they forget about us? I went back in line and by the time I got to the hostess to ask about my table for a party of 5 she went to the back office to grab the waitlist that was done. Now we finally get seated to a table that fits 4 people/5 tight-cramped fit. I'm peered over to the booths which could seat 6 big adults comfortably; instead of seating us 5 normal to big adults in the booths the host sat 2 adults (small built) with 3 teens (small built). I understand that the hostess was trying to maximize their table/seating usage, but I think they both need to calculate in the fact that to make seating experience a more pleasurable one for their customers should be a priority as well. 3 stars for good food, price, clean establishment, free coffee/tea out in the front for waiting customers, and awesome servers. Honestly this establishment could easily be 5/5 stars. I had to deduct 2 stars because of the experience with host & hostess, the extended wait time, and seating arrangement for 5 on a really small table for 4. I judge a breakfast place by its french toast, and Stacks exceed my expectations. I ordered Strawberry Nutella french toast, made with Texas Toast and fresh fruit. It was light and fluffy, not too sweet. The only thing (slight) negative was the amount of whipped cream they piled on - practically a plateful. I also had the chance to try the grapefruit mimosa, which was delicious. Even on a Friday morning, the place was packed, but they seated our party of three within 15 minutes. Service was fantastic - our waitress was so lively and pleasant and gave us great recommendations. Despite a full restaurant, our food came out less than 10 minutes after ordering. Prices are decent for brunch, ranging from around $9-$15, and portion sizes are relatively large. I can't wait to come back and try the pancakes! read more

Great place for breakfast! They were one of the few restaurants open on New Year's day too, which is a huge plus in my book! There was a little bit of a wait since everyone wanted to get brunch on New Year's Day but the restaurant is really accommodating to their customers. They set up a coffee/tea station outside so that we can enjoy some hot (or cold) drinks while we waited to be seated. Once we got seated a very friendly waitress came by with our menus and water. She was super nice and cheerful which really made our dining experience more enjoyable. I went with the crab frittata since it's not something you see at every breakfast & brunch place. Stacks gives you a lot of food too!! My crab frittata came with a side of potatoes and a bagel. I was under the impression that it would be a mini bagel but it was a whole bagel! Very generous. Way over priced for breakfast. The ambiance felt a bit stuffy and over whelming on a Monday early afternoon. Waiters and waitresses running around without acknowledging people. It was a thirty minute wait before I was seated. As I waited for my waitress, I saw how jolly the other waitresses were. When my waitress attended me and my boyfriend , I felt rushed and she looked annoyed even though I had mentioned it was my first time here. I ended up with the farmers breakfast, while my boyfriend got the standard steak and eggs. I feel like I could have made a similar waffle myself at home. The chicken tenders were pretty good.. crispy and not too dry. The menu makes it seem like you might have to pay for maple syrup (add $1 something for 100% maple syrup) but they do give you free maple syrup too :) Our server was really nice. I live about 5 minutes down the road from Downtown Campbell, but have never visited Stacks because of the big crowds. My boyfriend and I decided to visit on a Saturday morning around 9:30am (pretty ballsy of us), but we had a plan B, just in case the wait was unbearable. Sure enough, we turned the corner and there was at least 6 people standing outside and at least 10 people inside waiting. We put our name on the list (following about 11 others) and mentioned we could sit outdoor or indoor. With being flexible to sitting outside, we were seated within 5 minutes. I was so surprised! Once seated outside, we were greeted promptly by a very kind server and served our breakfast within 10 minutes of ordering. It was by far the fastest service, considering the amount of people waiting. The server (a young woman) was so sweet and even called me "gorgeous". The food was wonderful. Tried this place out because of a Groupon! We went on a weekend morning morning and it was PACKED. We waited about 10 minutes for 4 people. It was definitely a family-friendly restaurant. It's a bit on the pricey side, but it's okay. I got the eggs benedict, standard stuff. So many regrets because everyone's raving about the banana macadamia coconut pancakes. :( Must go back! Our service was excellent. My family also got a chicken-fried steak (really good), and a specialty chicken sandwich. I'm not much of a fan of American breakfast food, but I liked it. If you or someone you know has a severe gluten sensitivity, then you know how much they miss their waffles and, well, bread in general. Stacks doesn't just have GF waffles, they have delicious GF waffles that are made in a separate griddle, and these waffles are better than most glutinous brunch spots. Its not grainy, gritty, nor bitter, as some GF batters are, and is what keeps us returning for more. I absolutely love that Stacks has a separate GF menu (look for the green one!) that makes selecting a meal without gluten painless and worry-free (The last thing anyone wants post-brunch is a trip to the ER). Everyone can find something to fit their palate, but most importantly, those with gluten sensitivities (or gluten-free diets by... uh choice) can feel normal and not feel so dictated by their biology. Really a 15 minute wait on the day before Thanksgiving in the small town of Campbell. Talk about a cute little area over here. This place was hoppin', but the staff didn't lose a beat. The food comes out fast, the staff is friendly and meal was good. This is your typical breakfast place. From what my husband and I ordered a skillet and he an omelette you can't go wrong. Plenty other choices to pick from as well. From pancakes, French toast, menu for the kids & healthy options to boot. Good strong coffee her as well. The waitress never came to check on us after that and we still didn't have our food after 30 minutes. We went inside to cancel the order and told the hostess how frustrated we were with how unorganzied things were, and she said "that's not the right word to use." Okay, invalidating customer's feelings... Nice! I totally get that we chose to go there on a Sunday when it's usually busy, but my frustration is from being told one wait time and actually having to wait twice as long. If they would've had it together and estimated a 45 minute wait time from the start, we would've chose to go somewhere else and had a much better morning. I live in San Francisco which has some of the busiest restaurants you'll find, but somehow they can manage rushes and ensure everyone has a good experience. So yes, "unorganzied" is the right word for this place... Not to mention it's way overpriced for what you get. My suggestion is that they cut down their menu to 10 different options and focus on doing those things really well, instead of having a giant menu and not being able to deliver. WHY I'M WRITING THIS: We used to come here almost every Sunday for brunch in the summer. The wait's always long - 30 mins or so - but when the weather's sunny, it's nice being outside and hanging out with friends. Plus, they provide free coffee/tea. It's been awhile since a visit to Stacks, so we decided to go Superbowl Sunday - no wait! I almost always get breakfast, but I wanted bacon + mayonaise + bread = a club sandwich. It was good so here I am, writing a review of a much-liked breakfast (and lunch) place. THE FOOD: My club sandwich was what a club sandwhich should be. It was made with toasted (not dry) wheat and white bread, bacon, avocado, maple-delicious-turkey, lettuce, tomato, jack cheese, and (thankfully, not too much) mayo. I also put yellow mustard on it and it was perfect. And humongous. It also came with fruit (pineapple, grapes, etc.), a small (bland) salad, and their terrific potatoes! I really love their perfectly seasoned breakfast potatoes. I like mine smothered with ketchup. They also have Pepper Plant if you like that sort of thing. My only complaint about my sammich - no dill pickle on the side! A sammich with no pickle - boo! In some locations, you can also get a freakin'-orgasmic crab panini. I'm talking REAL crab, not that awful imitation stuff. I've also tried one of their salads and it's really big. So Stacks does lunch good IMO, but they do breakfast better. They're known for their dinner-plate sized pancakes - try the blueberry with the hot blueberry sauce. Yum! Omlettes are filling and tasty and I really like their potatoes topped with (if there is such a thing as) too much cheese, chicken apple sausage, mushrooms, and your-style eggs. All breakfasts come with a bagel, but I like their sourdough with raspberry jam that my grandma would approve of. Invited by a friend who happened to be a Farmer's Market enthusiast. Actually, she's just a bit compulsive and once she discovered the watermelon juice at this particular foodstand she developed irrepressible cravings. Either way, she was going, and wanted to introduce me to Stacks, and I was on-board. Definitely has that Americana diner breakfast place vibe to it. Could have been an IHOP judging from the tables, booths, and waitstaff. But when you see the crowd, you realize that they must be doing something right. Bonus points for saying it would be 35 minutes and seating us in 20. My all-time favorite breakfast place, Hash House in San Diego, does the opposite and it's always irritating. Especially because I starve myself for a day before going there... but that's another story. Everything was tasty, everything was fast, the menu was comprehensive and the servers were really nice. Why four stars not five? Because now that I mentioned Hash House in the same paragraph, I realize that I cannot in good conscience give another breakfast place five stars unless they match Hash House, and the food there is unbelievably delish. My husband and I are regulars to this location, and often my Mom and other friends like to eat here too. Its a very organized restaurant, and a successful component to this restaurant is their management of small efficiencies. Such as leaving a pitcher of water on the table for easy refill's and similarly a carafe of hot coffee for more when one cup isn't enough. For me, the food is good but its never been something amazing. I have forever been stuck comparing breakfast's to the standards of OMGAMAZING that I experienced down in LA at The Griddle Cafe, and up in Washington State at Hi-Life in Ballard. Those places had something so special to their food, that just makes it over the top in my memories. So good, it hurts to be no where near them!! =/ So, Stack's is not those places, but they have honorable efforts to provide a good solid breakfast. There is a huge variety of flavors between the omlettes, scrambles, hash's and fritattas, and the hash browns (no home fries on the menu) are quite tasty and moist. You get a bagel with every meal unless you specify something else, and they have some decent fresh juices (they buy but don't make). If you come with more than two people EVERYONE must be present before you get seated (during prime times). For two people, if you walk up and see an uber huge crowd, go inside and see what the counter wait is like. My husband and I eat at the counter now all the time - we can show up on a Sunday right in the middle of Farmer's Market madness and get seated within 10mins at the counter avoiding the 30mins+ wait that you get put on if you want a table inside or outside. The counter service is pretty decent, and its easier to flag someone down for something you need since more than just the counter waitress loiters around back there doing things for their tables service. So, the only one thing I would complain about is that some servers do not check in with the table after the food has arrived as much as others do. So if something goes awry or you need more of something be sure to catch it right as your food is dropped off, or you may be waiting 10mins or more for whatever you need. Overall, its a solid meal at a fair price and the portions are great. Its our steady eddy for sure for breakfast around town - but I can't see myself ever giving it 5 stars because there isn't anything really spectacular about the food. read more

The apple cinnamon crepes tasted very good -- the sweetness wasn't overwhelming and the crunchy apple flavor was really good. Similarly, the triple berry pancakes were solid pancakes with a generous portion of strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries and whipped cream on top. The unlimited coffee was also good. However, the food wasn't very warm, took a long time to come out, and when it finally did, I had to go up to the counter to get maple syrup because the waiter had forgotten. I was so excited to finally try this place! Lines are constantly out the door, so come early (before 9A on Saturdays; before 8:30A on Sundays) to beat the crowd!! Being a pancake house, I would recommend sticking with the pancakes and skipping out on the other breakfast foods. I tried the "Light & Healthy" Beaters Scramble, and the entire dish just felt underwhelming and not very flavorful. Not worth it for the price. On the other hand ... the pancakes are so good. The "Lumberjack" was SO. DAMN. FLUFFY. Some of the best pancakes I've had. They were crispy along the edges and fluffy in the middle. The Lumberjack pancakes have some blueberry, banana, and walnut bits. My god. So good. For $9 though, I wish it had some toppings (like chopped banana or blueberries). And the service is amazing! I went for the straight-ahead eggs and sausage breakfast with their chocolate waffle to add some flair. The waffle was quite tasty and the rest of the meal satisfied. I have one suggestion for these guys. The decor needs some serious attention. Come on, you've got a cool name "Stacks" but when you look around the restaurant you are bombarded by a mix of mid-century modern design and fake street lamps, lame cornucopias and dead flower arrangements.
