Kids menu, scrambled eggs and stuff
    Michael L.

Food portions were really big, the tables were not greasy, we got seated right away and the waitress was very friendly and said hi, it looks like there's a restroom in the back, prices are a little bit high but what do you expect in Menlo Park? I definitely think the food is better here than at McDonald's across the street. they should turn on the open sign to get more customers. if you like looking at the street, it's a wonderful view

Good food, decent prices and hefty serving size. The first time I went, I had the Corned Beef Hash House with scrambled eggs, which comes with a plain bagel. Last week a few of us dined inside and had a wonderful waiter named Mario or Marco. He was a pleasure during our dining experience. This time I ordered the Canitas and Onions Skillet. It was tasty, but they only had one chunk of carnitas, so I only enjoyed it the second day as leftovers. My lunchmates had the California Eggs Benedict and the other had Frech Toast with a side of bacon and maple syrup (extra is charged for the syrup). Both of them devoured their food. Here's What I Think... I'll be back again.

What I had ordered was really good! My friends who were with me ordered other items off the menu and agreed their food was really good as well. The waiter was kind and friendly earning his tip for waiting on us.

Service was pretty fast even it was busy. Serving size was just right. We got a mimosa flight to share and the kiwi flavor was my favorite. I ordered a bacon&onion skillet and my bf ordered a traditional breakfast sandwich. We both enjoyed our food and were pretty satisfied.

Good food! Really enjoyed this sandwich and sweet potato fries combo. It even came with a side salad and fruit. Great bonus for a good price! The bread on the Blackened Chicken Sandwich is magnificent. Would've appreciated a bit more attention from servers but could've just been a busier time for them. Had a great lunch with my brother either way!

Came as a large party over 20 people and I appreciate that they were able to accommodate all of us. We were a big party so it's understandable that our order will take longer than other tables. Our servers were so nice and attentive. The service was great but I thought the food was okay. Nothing really stood out to me. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs but it looks like they just threw the scrambled eggs on top. I think presentation could've been better but the service made up for it.

This is a busy, home style cafe with an expansive menu to choose from. I love eggs Benedict so I decided to try their crab version and it was not good, honestly only had a few bites because i was hungry. The potatoes weren't anything extraordinary. I tried the green goddess smoothie too which was not bad tasting but it was very chunky and I was chewing most of it. I wasn't expecting it to be super mind blowing or anything considering this place isn't a smoothie joint but it was still okay. Not sure if I would return here for the prices of my food

Are they still open during Shelter in Place?

I don't think so. I tried calling this morning (Monday) at about 9:30 and it just rang and rang and no one picked up and it didn't go to voicemail. Eventually I gave up and ordered my takeout from the Redwood City location.

Cafe Vivant has a new chef, formerly from Oxalis, a 1 Michelin star in Brooklyn. Parking is plentiful and easy around the restaurant. Made a reservation for dinner and my table was ready upon arrival. Dining is available inside the luxurious dining room, outdoors, or at the fancy bar. Staff throughout the evening were fantastic. Started off with the dungeness crab crepe which was ok. The crab wasn't super duper fresh. The crepe was just a freshly made tortilla. Moved on to the white asparagus tempura which was unfortunately heavily salted... The tempura batter was light and the asparagus was tasty. Even the dipping sauce was tasty. The agnolotti verde was excellent. The pasta was fresh and cooked to perfection. The snow pea tips were tasty although some were quite "old." The grilled half chicken may have been the highlight of the meal. This was my first time having Heritage chicken and it was quite tasty. The chicken was grilled to perfection. The meat was very juicy and flavorful, including the breast. The skin was grilled crispy and lightly salted. Excellent. The short rib entree was decent. The short rib felt overcooked, especially after being seared on the grill. The side sauces were decent. It was interesting that none of the entrees had any side dishes, for vegetables as an example. Again, most, if not all of the photos were from the previous chef, which was different... There is no longer any mention of a pastry chef on the website which is a bummer. The desserts were lacklustre...definitely not worth the $15 for the chocolate and hazelnut. The ice cream was a huge miss as it seemed to be lacking in dairy...it felt like it was made using skim milk....yikes. ~$125/head after tax and gratuity, including a 5% employer mandates.

Definitely worth getting the umami fries as they were seasoned to perfection. A perfect starting side! Horsefeather is a perfect brunch spot to stop by and try in this Old Town and Country Palo Alto plaza. I have never heard of this chain nor in their other locations before and was definitely satisfied afterwards with their great dishes and their aesthetically modern decorated interior. The dishes here are American so you'd get what you typically get for breakfast from scrambles to French Toast, and we ordered the French Toast, the Chicken and Waffles, and a Salad during our visit here. All of what was ordered was perfect and beautifully plated upon arrival and out of all that was ordered, I have to say the chicken and waffles with their matcha butter & syrup was their standout dish. I have never seen matcha infused with butter but it was perfect and complimented the waffle just right. The chicken was fried and juicy inside and the waffle in general was toasted with just the right amount of crisp on the outside and soft interior. French Toast was a definite close contender too, where the toast was still gooey soft as expected and served with syrup & cream on the side. Salad was good but nothing too extraordinary about it. The staff here were all very nice and on a busy lunch day, I was surprised & pretty sure just lucky was able to get a table in less than 10 min on a Sunday. For weekend brunch, Horsefeather is a perfect spot to visit & enjoy the pre-afternoon before enjoying Palo Alto. I would highly recommend checking this place out and will definitely be back for more.

Our favorites were the kimchi deviled eggs, the miso linguini pasta, and the yuzu dessert. One thing I did notice was the seating arrangement. I had seen another Yelp review mentioning that they were seated right next to another party despite the restaurant being mostly empty, and we had a similar experience. Even with plenty of open tables, we were seated directly beside another group, making it easy to hear each other's conversations. It wasn't a huge issue, but a little more spacing would have made the dining experience feel more comfortable. Overall, the food and service were great.

I had the opportunity to visit Son & Garden (Palo Alto) and for those that do not want all the fine…read moretuned details, I would rate the overall visit at 8.5 out of 10. You will enjoy! For those who like all the juicy deets, please enjoy the following... Arrived at Son & Garden around 10:30a or so for brunch in mid-July so the weather was great (but the weather is always great in the bay area). The place sits right on the corner and has outside seating under a covering. There are also some overhead heaters installed to keep the temperature comfortable. There are a few parking spaces in front of the restaurant, however when leaving I noticed there was an A-frame sign on the curb that says "Cal-Train Parking", which requires payment so I don't officially know if the parking was free. This brings me to my next point, there is a parking lot right next to the spaces in front of the restaurant, which clearly belongs to Cal-Train, since there is a train station right next to it. Here is where some of the points came off, the noise from the train horn was very loud and if you are not expecting it, it can be startling. The service was prompt and friendly, and they were very attentive. At no point did I ever have to flag anyone down for more water or to ask for anything, kudos to the entire service staff for their level of service. There were a few things ordered here, we had the Chicken Panini with fries, a green salad and a complete meal that included French Toast, Scrambled Eggs and I added the Applewood Smoked Bacon. My wife ordered the "Into the Forest" drink that she said was delicious. All of the food was really good. The Chicken Panini was cooked and made very well, the chicken was moist, tomatoes were thickly cut and the sauce was great. The fries were crispy and seasoned well, and accompanied with a buttermilk ranch dressing that tasted as if it was made from scratch, in house. Honestly, I would purchase a bottle to take home if they had some for sale, it was that good and I'm not a "ranch" dressing kind of guy. The eggs were fluffy and the bacon was pretty good, but my favorite would have to be the French Toast. There was a hint of orange flavor somewhere in the batter and they were absolutely delicious without any syrup. They were made with levain bread, and topped with powdered sugar and fresh fruit. I was very happy with the french toast if I haven't mentioned that yet . In summary, it was a refreshing brunch, with great food and service. My only cons were the train doing its "choo choo" thing a few times during the time there and in my opinion, I feel the prices were slightly more on the expensive side for "breakfast" food but I also know this is the world we live in these days. You will not be disappointed if you choose to eat there (or get a drink there according to my wife).

Sadly, this location (if you've been to the other ones, you would feel the same) is so much less floral and fun. Also, the menu appeared to be a lot more limited with the fun stuff. Son & Garden shares the building with their sister restaurant, which we accidentally wandered into first. The staff there were not so courteous to us when we had realized our mistake. They probably get that a lot... but if that's the case, isn't that a sign to make it more obvious where Son & Garden diners need to go? The service was subpar as we had to keep asking for basic things a condiments and table settings. The server was not versed in the menu and we ended up ordering something based on their info and it just wasn't what we thought it would be. My poor mom had so much difficulty with her fried cutlet, she didn't really eat. Dishes here are overpriced which I always understood it as part of the premium for dining in a super cute restaurant. Well, the outside seating wasn't great and there was plant debris landing on our table throughout our meal since we were seated outside. In the other Son & Garden locations, there's mostly indoor seating so I didn't think to investigate whether this restuarant was outside only or not. I get that my review of this place is super biased and based on my expectations of their other location, but you would think that they would keep the vibe fairly similar. The dining experiences at both could not be more different. Lastly, the parking situation could not be more nebulous! We didn't know if we were in CalTrain territory or retail. Needless to say, we didn't have a great dining experience here but the food was acceptable, hence the 3 stars.

Their vegetarian options are fantastic. It is so yummy. You will want to eat 10 of these. - Chilled Green Grape Chaas: This is like Pani Puri, meaning they are little taste bombs that explode in your mouth. Their rendition is wonderful; you should get this. - Kohlrabi and Pineapple Kebab: Again, you might be like "say what now," but this is genius. The spicy glaze! The sweet and sour of the pineapple, paired with the earthiness of the kohlrabi, is the perfect combination of flavors. - Squash Blossom: Yummy! That makhani alone is worth it. - Hispi Cabbage: I love this thing. The smokiness and char of the cabbage match perfectly with the chutney. The interior is stunning. Whoever they hire to design their restaurants clearly knows what they are doing. The only negative is being seated near the windows that look out, because it takes some of the ambiance away. Once we got seated at the bar because they were all out of table reservations, and that was a great experience as well. The burrata with peaches was an easy choice. Crisp, toasted crostini slices paired beautifully with the silky, creamy burrata, while the peaches added a pleasant touch of tangy sweetness. Finished with a drizzle of balsamic glaze and fresh microgreens, every bite was well balanced. The beet salad was just as good. Generous chunks of roasted beets were accompanied by grapefruit, shaved fennel, and creamy avocado, all tossed in a bright, refreshing vinaigrette. The tangy goat cheese tied everything together perfectly. As if that weren't enough, I also ordered the Basil Melt. Layered with organic heirloom tomatoes, fresh organic basil, creamy mozzarella, and thyme aioli on an Acme baguette, it delivered fresh, vibrant flavors in every bite. Simple ingredients done right. To finish, I treated myself to their affogato, topped with house-made whipped cream. Rich, creamy, and wonderfully indulgent, it was the perfect afternoon pick-me-up. The only miss for me was the almond croissant. While I appreciated the generous topping of toasted sliced almonds, the house-made almond filling didn't quite deliver the rich, buttery flavor I was hoping for. Service was warm and welcoming from start to finish. The staff happily helped photograph our party of four, which was a thoughtful touch that added to an already enjoyable brunch experience. The service is great here; they even took a napkin that was hung on my chair and folded it neatly onto the table again. I wish the portion sizes were bigger here overall, when you share with four people you're only getting like a bite each and for the prices even though it's a fancier place I'd expect to get a litttleee more (i've seen other fancy places have bigger sizes)
