This is currently my favorite breakfast spot in Sac. I've had a few different dishes and have not been disappointed. Among my favorite things to eat are the shrimp and grits and biscuit with gravy. My biggest pet peeve is getting luke warm food. No worries here because it comes out piping hot every time. The service is excellent. Everyone is so nice here. If you make it past the busy location and horribly configured parking lot, this place is a diamond in the rough. Servers are friendly and the food hit the spot. I was surprised to be seated and served so quickly with how busy it was. It's difficult to find well-cooked grits, but this place nailed it! Stagecoach Restaurant has been around for a long time and there used to be Stagecoach Too but it's now closed. The original restaurant is located on Florin Road near Franklin across from the old Southgate Shopping Center (soon to be 99 Ranch). You can see from the menu that they specialize in breakfast from the numerous combinations and they offer a senior menu which is why they are very popular among the elderly. I've tried many combinations and have no qualms about the service except it can definitely vary depending upon the waitress; some are sharp and attentive while others are short-sighted and aloof. The latter can be frustrating at times. The restaurant was opened by a retired air force mess veteran and is now run by his son. The food is very ordinary; but one has to be impressed by the extensive menu offerings and the specials written above the kitchen entryway. If you like breakfast then anything you order will be sufficient because the portions are not meager. The decor is interesting and can be best described as "rustic." read more

Brother in law and sister treated me to this awesome hole in the wall joint. Delicious Chicken fried steak, grits and biscuit, eggs perfectly cooked over easy. This is a classic staple of South Sacramento. You either love it or hate it. My spinach bacon and cheddar 2 egg omelet was good. It was a large portion with large pieces of bacon. The grits could be creamier but we're fine after some salt pepper and butter were added. The star of the breakfast selections has to be the home potatoes. Yummy! Don't forget to upgrade them with bell peppers and onions. read more

Today's special was an "old School" shrimp louie. the salad greens were nicely chilled and served in a clamshell salad bowl, topped with bay shrimp, hard boiled egg tomato wedges, dill pickle chips, pickled beet slicers, and asparagus spears. it reminded me of salads served at the long closed Rosemont grill, or the garden cafe on the top floor of the old downtown Weinstocks. My husband and I ordered the chicken and waffles and couldn't have been happier. This place rivals Roscoe's down in LA. The waffle is tender and sweet and the chicken has the right amount of spice to balance that sweetness. If your a southern family baby like myself, get the buttered grits it will take you home for sure. And they should be. I love something a little out of the ordinary for breakfast and this place does it. Today I had red snapper filet and eggs with toast and grits. My girlfriend had a western omelette - i think. with bell peppers, onions and ham. So the food is top notch but what really stuck in my head was the service. The hostess was wonderful ( tall girl with red hair in case anyone from the place is reading this) and our server was good and i think the cook stopped by to check on us. the portions are huge and of course it's not good for you but who cares? also the atmosphere is nice. homey and even though they have more than one location is not a chain. Bottom line- if you are even remotely close to this area for breakfast, you'd be danged fool to go to IHOP across the street. this place is the real deal and worth every penny read more

The two stars are for the hostess and wait staff, who were delightful and attentive. The food; however, was a pricey disappointment. I order the fried snapper breakfast (one filet of fish, potatoes, eggs and a biscuit) and my friend ordered the honey oat pancake special. We both left our meals half eaten and paid $12-$14 (pre-tip). The country potatoes weren't cooked with even a sprinkle of seasoning, and at least half of them were hard (as in under cooked). The fish texture was rubbery. It was as if the filet was first boiled, then fried, or maybe it wasn't fully defrosted first. Either way it was just wrong. We were immediately greeted but there was a bit of a wait here. The decor is a bit dated but that doesn't deter us from trying new places as long as the food is good. We did find ourselves waiting a bit again but this time for the food. The food was home style but good. The low rating was due to the length of time to get seated as well as the wait time for our food to arrive. This place really should consider extending there hours because it appears their regular customers are attempting to all come during their short hours, which i don't blame them. read more

I always drive by this place and never thought about trying it out until it was recommended to me. The parking sucks, really small lot. The place itself isn't fancy. Looks a bit run down and is not big. But don't judge a book by its covers right? Cause the people here are friendly and the food is good. And that's what matters most. Food portions are big. This was my 1st time eating here after years of me hearing how great and awesome the food was. So we went here on Fathers Day 2018 - 1. its small and the smell of old grease hits you at the door 2. the decor is very outdated and the seats are extra small and its not appealing at all. 3. when the waitress read the specials off she read a long list of specials and the only thing i heard that was catching was shrimp n grits - she asked how i wanted my eggs and i stated as i do everywhere i go scrambled soft. 4. the food arrives : eggs where really watery as in egg soup maybe- shrimp and grits were really thick and the shrimp were tough and not seasoned. and on top of it they put some type of sausage on my grits (i don't eat pork and i thought it was shrimp and grits) my potatoes were not seasoned and they were cold. the only thing that was good was the root beer and the glass smelled . now for my husbands plate- he didn't even eat his plate at all. he ordered the pancakes eggs and bacon- the bacon wasn't done, his pancakes were not cooked in the middle and his eggs had cheese on them that were just placed on top. No one asked us how was the food because Im sure they were afraid to hear the real truth. I just think the service could've been better and the food definitely could have been 100% better. All this time I wait to come here and was disappointed. Its overrated and to each its own. Everyone at my table and there were four of us had more than 3 things wrong with our plate.
