The service here is everything other than Standard.... I can't express how amazing they made our dinner last night. I proposed to my girlfriend and we had our dinner here after. I called and told them that I would've just proposed when making the reservation, they asked if I minded that they made our evening special. They went and got two bouquets of roses and one long stem rose, wrote an incredible note in a card, and even gave us a Champaign toast! The food was absolutely incredible. I've now eaten here about 4 times and each time I would say the food has been basic. I did enjoy the tortilla soup, but not enough to change my overall opinion of the restaurant. On top of that, I feel the prices are very high to justify the food. My bar is high with the number of great restaurants in Dallas to compare to. FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE This was my first time at this restaurant. My family ate there on Mother's Day and had nothing but good things to say. I ordered the Ribeye, baked potato and Brussel Sprouts. The steak was perfectly cooked. I rarely am ever able to say my steak is PERFECT. Brussels we're so tender and well seasoned. Most of all, the service was IMPECCABLE. Our server was very attentive and checked in often. The Manager came by to update us on when our good would be ready and personally delivered it to us. This place is pretty damn awesome! Starting with the food, I was pretty impressed. Pretty much anything you get here is really good and big portions. Now for the atmosphere, it's awesome. Has a really nice bar on the inside. On the outside is where the fun is. It has so many different things to enjoy from cornhole, ping pong tables, badminton courts, to a stage that has live sports and music, little fire pits to sit around when it's cool. Menu and Service is still on point and even with it being very busy on a Saturday we didn't wait too long for our orders. The new location in Heath is tremendous. This is actually a spot people could travel to. It reminds me a little of the happiest hour in Dallas for those who remember. Inside is modern and the bar has some nice selections, but outside is where the action is here. This place is almost perfectly made for a social or social distancing world. Lots of space and seating outside. There are ping pong tables, pickle ball and other yard games and a massive screen for sports. The wait staff was friendly and helpful and the menu is good. There are the people who brought us HG Supply in Dallas. They have imported some of the drinks here like the mule with Kombucha. We started with the Crab Rangoon Dip. It has wonton chips and the flavor was great. The crab flavor is there but not fishy and it is well balanced. We destroyed it. I had the steak frites with chimichurri on the meat and fries which had cheese shredded on top. I am not describing it well it is worth trying. My wife loves the ahi poke and it was great as usual. She also finished with the Ricky. It seemed ok with the vanilla ice cream and then we dipped down and got brownie and chocolate sauce... OMG. It was good. Really good. We left overstuffed. This is a great place for atmosphere!! My salad was delicious too! The steak however was maybe the toughest steak I have ever had. I sawed and sawed on it to cut it and it was medium cookery. Maybe I got a tough cut, but if not this needs to be replaced ASAP from the menu, by some better quality meat. The price was off too. I enjoyed the salad. But I got 1/4 head of Iceberg Wedge, very little toppings for $16. Another $18 for the tough steak - which was not as impressive as the fun atmosphere outdoors. We went last night for my sisters birthday. Food was great, service was extremely slow. Not a big deal about service because we were not in a rush and just wanted to enjoy family time and have some drinks. The problem is that when we left, the servers blamed us and trash talked us to the next customers who took our seats saying we were there way too long (we were there on the patio for about 2 hours) We know because the people that took our table were actually some of our friends. Our tab was over $400 together and the servers got a REALLY good tip. Not once did we complain about the service being slow either, especially with kids who needed to eat. Really disappointing. First less than experience yesterday. Ordered a off-menu jalapeño margarita and got a cucumber margarita instead. Served in a tall skinny, with approx 4 oz of beverage. Wife got chicken sliders and deemed them very tasty. Said her sweet potato fries were cold but ok tasting. I got fajita shrimp tacos. I don't want to go overboard with a bad review but come on.... Dust some shrimp in strong spices and grill. Add goo warm tortilla a few green stuff and you have a winner. I got cold shrimp that tasted like it had driven very fast past the spice lane and spent less than 30 sec on the grill. Tortilla was mushy and add ones were over stuffed. Maybe compensating for bland shrimp. I don't want to go overboard with negative. My wife enjoyed her chicken and table mates said their food was good. I like Standard Service for the great outdoor seating. The food is OK to great, depending on the dish. My favorite is the grilled salmon and Brussels Sprouts. My son's favorite is the loaded grilled cheese and tomato soup. The cocktail quality is always good and my husband enjoys their on-tap beer selection. The things that ruins it all are the loud music and inexperienced, young wait staff. I have eaten at certain tables, both inside and on the patio, where I can't hear my table mates talking next to me - that's how loud the music is. And it's usually rap music when the average age of the paying patrons is 50. It's ridiculous. We have complained several times, to no avail, so we don't go there as often. We used to go there weekly because it's just down the street. But now I go eat in Downtown Rockwall, Plano/Frisco or Dallas instead where I pay the same amount or slightly more, but the food, cocktails and staff are way better and my ears aren't assaulted like they did something wrong. read more

My appearance here was a good one. The ambience is nice (see pics). The crowd is a mixture of families and mature couples. This place is hidden deep in Rockwall. If you aren't familiar with this establishment, you won't just run into it. I found it in a Yelp search seeking something new. Who knows how many times I may have passed this place not knowing the hidden jewel it was. I must say that the food was delicious. Parking is a little tricky, but there is valet parking. I desire to come visit one day for happy hour to enjoy some drinks. Tonight we were finally able to try the new Standard Service in Heath. Because it's a new location and has significant changes from the previous location, I decided to take some photos and document my experience for you. It's been no secret locally that the new Standard Service in Heath is a big hit. Since opening, the restaurant and event space has been on a perpetual wait, which is why it's taken this long for us to get out there and try it out. Our visit was on a Tuesday at 6:30pm, and even then there was a 30 minute wait for a table for 4 inside. We decided it was worth the wait, and ended up waiting about 25 minutes before being sat. Now before I talk about the inside, let's talk about the outside. Standard Service Heath is extremely unique compared to other area restaurants. There are three major outdoor areas, one with a fire pit, rocking chairs, corn hole and jumbo connect four. Another with two pickle ball courts. And a massive third area that has yard games and is obviously an outdoor concert venue. A huge LCD screen on the stage was playing sports but could obviously be used as a band backdrop. Cool! We were text when our table was ready (smooth choice) and sat in the new dining room. This new location is much, much larger than the old one, and has a combination of high top tables, booths, normal tables and covered patio space. The kids menu (see first comment) set the tone: this is not a cheap spot. I wouldn't expect it to be, this is a place that prides itself on very high quality ingredients and service, and is the middle of the 6th wealthiest county in Texas (Out of 254!) Service was great (should I say it was standard? lol) and we were quickly attended to. Ice Tea was dark, well brewed and quickly refilled. For an appetizer we tried the BBQ Chicken Nachos, which are interesting because they use thick kettle cooked potato chips instead of tortilla chips. I would have liked a little more chicken but the flavor was awesome. I loved the purple pickled onions. A note here, even before our appetizer came, they rushed out our 5 year olds burger. That's a HUGE PLUS for you parents out there as we know idle hands are a challenge at the table! Ashley ordered the salmon. She reported it was "Pretty Good" but "Not as Good as Zanatas". I had a bite, and it was definitely better than what you typically get, but I agreed that I preferred zanatas a little more. I ordered the 14oz New York Strip. It comes with "loaded mashed potatoes" and asparagus. The potatoes were covered in chives, bacon, cheese and sour cream. The potatoes themselves were especially fresh, you could taste the difference and the consistently was thick and smooth. The steak was superb. A strip is not my favorite cut (next time I will try the filet) but came out a perfect medium as ordered. Char on the outside, soft and juicy on the inside, exploding with flavor. Thankfully the waiter did not ask me to "cut into the steak" or offer me A1 or Heinz57. Thank goodness, if you offer me steak sauce your steak sucks, lol. As we ate service continued to be very good. The owner Elias came over and introduced himself (ahh! We were spotted! Haha) and after he spoke with us two other tables adjacent to us revealed they knew we were from Rockwallian (always watching!) Speaking with Elias it was obvious the time and passion he had for the place. He explained how his own children played a role in the design and thought process, that it was super important to them that Standard Service be a place that was adult friendly and kid friendly alike. The grander vision is for it to be a bit of a community hub with concerts and activities and more. Wow, what an upgrade. Overall I left feeling very good about the visit, experience and food. This is the kind of "locally owned and operated" spot that makes Rockwall County such a special place. Heath should be proud, and I'm sure they are, this is a true gem. Yum yum yum!!! Standard Service is a restaurant with good quality food and a fun environment. I love that it's laid back with tons of activities and seating outside, and a good diverse menu. We sat in the patio area that's covered like a room, so it's outside but warm! I tried the loaded grilled cheese and oh man is it good! That will definitely be my go to from now on.
