Went for lunch today and it wasn't bad. Service was excellent, really - sorry I don't remember our server's name but she was friendly, very helpful and prompt with our stuff. Partner's smoked chicken fettucine was REALLY good, my Kruse burger was okay but very large and slippery. I wouldn't have minded something 2/3 the size and 2/3 the price. House salad that came with it (fries, slaw are other options) was just weird, almost cobb-like, with hard boiled egg and bacon added. Bacon good, egg bad...wish I'd known. I don't know that it's a good idea to put bacon on stuff without telling people, though. Being noobs we foolishly started with an appetizer, the Widmer beer-battered onion rings, which were enormous and made us go OMG and then we'll eat lunch HOW?...but, waitress to the rescue. She assured us they re-heat well and sent us home with a to-go box - a stout plastic affair I shall re-use as a bonsai dish. :b Dark but cozy, pleasant interior bathed in soft amber light. I discovered this restaurant less than a year ago, even though I see it from the freeway every time I pass. I'm usually skeptical of "Mall" restaurants, as they are traditionally big chains. Stanford's has made me want to approach the mall. Every time here has been a great meal. This last time was while my sister was visiting from the Midwest. Her 2 friends met up with us as well. My Shrimp Tacos were exceptional. The accompanying rice couldn't have been a better fit. The rest of my group loved the food as well. Service for a lunch rush was spot on. She was ahead of the game on anticipating our needs and beverage refills. Definitely a professional group. I will keep approaching the mall just for Stanford's. read more

I have been here numerous times and the food had always been good, I love their Cajun Prawn Linguini, and their fried garlic toast (extra), their HH prime rib sliders are delicious, and the steak Cobb salad is great! I miss their steak bites with pineapple! But this time I tried some other things I had not tried before. The onion rings were the worst I'd Ever had, inedible, it says beer battered, but it was like highly Italian seasoned (not in a good way) thick bread crumb coating. There was 6 in our group and we left most of the rings, calamari was not good either, it was like paper thin tiny pieces with flaking coating, kind of like remnants of the fried coating. My steak Cobb salad would have been good as always, but was swimming in the dressing. The fish and chips are just meh, and the ribs tasted old (from other times). Another time I was there for my lunch hour break with my sister and the service was poor and the food took so long that I had them box it and didn't get to enjoy it with them, and had to sneak bites of my wilted salad at work. I think the service is better in the bar. It really depends on what you order here, whether it's outstanding or not so good. I still will eat here, but will stick to what I know is great, and I'll order the dressing on the side next time. If this last trip was my only time there, I would not go back. So, I hope they read these reviews, to know what is great and what could be really good with some changes. I want to love everything on their menu. read more

Full priced drinks at Happy Hour? What is so happy about that? Sure, the happy hour food was good enough, my husband and I had the mac and cheese (very good), a salad, calamari (bland sauce), and a very good artichoke dip. The portions seemed right and they were served promptly and hot. Server was friendly and attentive. But I don't know how you serve full price drinks for a happy hour and to top it off a plain old small glass of Brandy and 7-Up is $9!!! I could see that if we were on top of the Space Needle but we are sitting just outside of Northgate Mall and lucky if we could view the parking lot or traffic getting onto I-5. A tap beer will set you back $5 for a less than full pint. If you want a reasonable and decent happy hour on the north end go to Green Lake Bar and Grill. If you are downtown go to Maximillien. The atmosphere is ok and the staff excellent, but the food is just meh. My seafood grill was perfectly cooked, but I had only 1 shimp, 2 scallops, and two small pieces of fish on a skewer. The cheesy bread wasn't that wonderful and the orzo was a funny color. The house salad was pretty good, with big pieces of bacon and egg. The macaroni and cheese is ok but nothing exciting. My blood orange mojito was good, quite a bit of beers on tap. I didn't look at the wine list. Overall just an ok place to eat, nothing worth going out of your way for. read more

We spent a pretty penny at this place but did not regret it! I have been craving their lavender cosmopolitan ever since I left!!! I had the pork chop which was not as tender as expected but tasted so wonderful...I could smell and taste the just off the grill woody taste mmmmm. same goes for the asparagus. My husband had the halibut tacos and he was very pleased. My favorite part of the meal was the calamari appetizer. My first time having calamari and I was diggin it!!! So tasty! Cannot wait to go back for our anniversary (: The place had super amazing customer service. They gave our kids cheese bread that was to die for before their meal and complimentary icecream for afterwards! This place is a parents island paradise!!! Very relaxed atmosphere! Not great. Not bad. My girlfriend's peppercorn filet was very good, my "steak butter" ribeye was not. It was thin, chewy-fatty, and they burnt the outside. Every bite had that burnt flavor. Sad. Service was great and the food was served promptly. $100 for two of us with one round of drinks, salads, one app, and 2 steaks. Not bad, but I have had better for less. read more

Had lunch here (south center) the other day and ordered the rib-eye steak--it was good but seemed like half the steak was fat. I recommend the mushroom topping my friend got. I had the "blue cheese crust" which was actually a huge pile of blue cheese that I just scraped off the meat. There was nothing "crusty" about it, tho I don't eat a lot of steak and maybe in steak-house lingo "crust" = "pile." Also had green beans in lieu of carrots (yuck) and they were kinda limp and tasteless like they were from a lukewarm buffet line. Place wasn't horrible but I will never go back unless it's a work thing or someone's party. The au gratins were tasty but question the bacon bits under the cheese..they aren't needed. If I seem a bit picky it's because I spent $30 on lunch and half the food remained on the plate! read more

The prime rib and steal were juicy and extremely well prepared and complimented well with fantastic sides. The service however was slow as there were not enough staff members on hand. They were quick to fix this problem by providing some complimentary bread to every table. Overall a great experience. Most certainly will return again if ever in the area. read more

A pretty ok place. Some of their items are pretty good, but everything is incredibly overpriced for what you're getting and it's a huge deterrent for us. If we're going to pay for a nicer quality dinner, we're going to go somewhere else that's just better. They seem to want to be this slightly more upscale place, but they just don't have the quality of food for it. The only time we have ever gone there is when every other place nearby is too packed to get a table. I've never been upset with my food there, but I probably won't go back anytime soon either, if ever. One of the sandwiches I got for lunch one time just had cheap processed meat on it. It was otherwise not bad, but that was a little disappointing. Their pasta sauces are pretty good though. The bar is also incredibly drafty near the north window. Don't know what's up with that. We sat there once but had to move because it was just too much. read more

My wife and I had our first date here 7 1/2 years ago, enjoyed the service, food, and the comfortable ambiance. Over the years, we have become steady customers and have tried almost every item on the menu. We married yesterday (9/15/18) and had our reception at Stanford's. Everything, including the food, wines, champagne, and service exceeded our expectations which were quite high. UPDATE: My BF and I revisited Stanford's in Northgate a couple weekends ago. We went for happy hour. The food was better this time around. I guess it's hit or miss at this place. The pasta for the rigatoni bolognese was cooked right this time, not hard and under cooked like last time. The chicken caesar was good. The chicken was moist and not dry like last time. The Southwest black bean and corn salad was OK. I am now giving it 3 stars instead of 1 star. I wish they would bring back the potato corn cakes. read more

I eat here alot and it's one of my favorite hangouts. The portion sizes are inconsistent during happy hour, so I never know if one snack in the bar will be enough! I would definately give 4 starts to eating in the main dining area, though. The prices are higher, but the menu is alot more extensive and the portions are very generous, and the food is really good. Yeah, I don't think a third try is on the menu. First time we went there was not a good night, food was so bland that even the dog walked away from it after we got home. And the service was just , , well, not there either. So months later we thought lets give them a second chance for a lunch maybe. They were not busy but still the service sucked. Had to ask for a glass of water for the kid several times, among other things. The salmon chowder tasted like cambell's potato soup with starkist salmon added then blended. The Mac and cheese was dry with little runny drizzle of sauce at the bottom of the bowl and loaded with garlic powder. Good luck talking with anyone after that. The manager seemed to honestly be conceren and even gift card for the next visit but I think we'll give it to the dude on the corner with a sign that say's he's hungry. read more

Always very clean, booths are very private and the restaurant is quiet. Food is great, the Chicken Caesar is wonderful and has a nice smokiness to it. Service is great, if not a little overly attentive at times, because sometimes it feels as if they have forgotten that they just asked you how everything was. read more

We went to Stanford's to welcome our new hire. We had made a reservation and were seated right away. They quickly brought over our app, the walnut crusted brie. It was so good we couldn't stop eating it. The prime rib dip is what I ordered. So flavorful and tender. Sweet potato fries.....crisp and a perfect blend of sweet and salty. I came here a while ago I was just looking for a small meal it just happened to be happy hour witch was perfect I sat at the bar service was great I had the ribs that were on the happy hour menu you get about three they were everything and fell rite off tha bone and they came with a big onion ring I also had tha Mac & cheese witch was pretty gud also, ohh and that BBQ blue cheese dipping sauce is on point. read more

I was craving a prime rib and this place was not too far from my house so I decided to do a to go order. The girl in the phone was nice except she almost let me go before I told her the temp I wanted my prime rib at. The food itself was ok. I was not at all impresses with what you get, the prime rib, mashed potatoes, and some steamed broccoli for $30. Most other places there would have been a salad or at least a choice of the sides or maybe there was and the person taking the order was too busy to offer them. Typically not a poster of reviews, but wanted to recognize a great experience last night at Stanford's in Northgate. Often, it is the bartender that makes or breaks a visit to the pub and last night we ran into the best of service with Andy Y. When inquiring about ordering a side dish as stand-alone, Andy's response was first 'I will check,' and second "it will happen." in this day and age where often the patron can be at the mercy of the point of sale machine, this was a welcome attitude. Andy is a great bartender, and we hope to visit again soon! read more

Here's a tip for the management of Stanfords: If you're going to have a preview opening and provide free meals to the invited patrons, make sure the meal is reasonably edible. We totally understood that the intent of the preview opening was to provide the staff of Stanfords with an opportunity to train without too much pressure. There was a set menu and the only thing we had to pay for was alcohol. But, here's the thing. The food sucked. There's no way my steak would have been worth the money had it not been a preview and my wife's pasta was less than memorable. We won't be going back--even if they offered us another free meal. read more

5 of us just had dinner at Stanfords in celebration of a birthday. The food was passable, but the service was probably the worst I've ever experienced. We had a long wait for our meals. Mine, when it finally arrived, was not what I ordered and the server came back twice to tell me my finger had pointed at something other than what I asked for. I virtually always order salmon and have never ordered mixed grill which sounds like red meat. She then blamed it on the kitchen, saying she had no idea when my ordered meal would be ready. Implying did I really want it. Meanwhile, everyone else was completely done with dinner. I finally took it home. Saw the manager stop at another table to apologize. This was quite a strange experience! Unfortunately, I can't remember exactly what I had, but I think it was some kind of chicken!? Its been over a year! It wasn't very good though! I do remember having a mojito that was 2 strong! The worst 1 I've ever had actually! 4 real! The service was pretty decent except I'd sometimes go long periods of time without the waiter coming by! It was a strange experience because ever since 2000 or 2001 me, my Mom & Stepdad were going 2 the 1 in Southcenter & it was outstanding! Then a few years went by without going. Finally, when I came 2 this 1 I found out they changed the menu around & the prices were alot more expensive. But the food was really not very good! Went to Standford's bar for the first time last night with my boyfriend. We were waiting for somebody to greet us to a table but after only a couple of minutes of waiting with no-one paying any attention to us we just walked in to the bar and flag a server to ask if we had to seat our selves,the server was really nice and said anywhere was fine we told him we would like to have a booth if possible,which there was only one left but it was dirty, he immediately clean the table for us wich was nice so we sat and soon he came back to our table to offer drinks. He got us started with drinks but was not our server. After waiting for some time our actual server came to our table asking for our order but we didn't even had a menu yet only drinks that the other server have gotten for us . He got us menus left for a few more minutes then came back to take our order. The food came out really quick my boyfriend and I weren't impressed with the food it wad just " meh" our server never offer another round of drinks and when we needed something we had to flag him to get he's attention. Anyways not very impressed next time am in northgate I think I would much rather give other places a try. read more

Wow! My girlfriend and I went to Stanford's at Northgate to celebrate my cousin's birthday. We had heard that it was a good restaurant, and were looking forward to eating there. Stanford's is not equipped to handle larger groups, there were eleven of us. The chicken was the worst ever, and way over cooked. A lot of crust on it, but very little meat. Inedible! The patty melt was also inedible, we have never paid for such poor food - ever! They don't serve potato salad with their sandwiches. :-( So, I had a cup of their minestrone soup, which was actually quite good. I highly recommend Azteca, which is right across the parking lot. We will never step foot inside another Stanford's Restaurant! read more

So long as Stanford's charges a living wage surcharge, I will not eat at that establishment. Stanford's charges a 2.55% fee that does NOT go to the wait staff but to the company itself. Stanford's is owned by the Restaurant's Unlimited chain and I will not eat at that chain's restaurants until the company grows up and treats its staff with dignity. read more
