Tonight, I got the Southwest Salad with blackened chicken, and I thought it was delicious (especially as it came with cheesy focaccia bread). Another person ordered the garden salad with dressing on the side, and it came exactly as he ordered it. A third person ordered the smoked chicken linguine, which smelled delicious, looked good, but when I asked how it was, she said the chicken was a little "rubbery" (yet it didn't stop her from taking home the leftovers). Typically love going out to Stanford's as it's consistent and yummy. Felt a little scammed with the chimmichurri steak tips though. That's all we got!?? It was $24 for this. Very confused and unsatisfied with the portion for this amount. The spicy cowboy I got was yummy and looked reasonable for the price. Visited Stanford's on a whim after some shopping nearby. Overall, a GREAT experience. I wish I could remember the bartender's name because she deserves a raise. (If management reads this, I visited on 06/24 at 2pm-find her!) I first ordered a "Huckleberry Raindrop," which sounded great...However, I found it overly sweet and couldn't drink it. I changed my drink order and next went with the tried-and-true Dirty Martini. WOW- easily one of the best dirty martinis I've had in the city. Perfectly chilled, just the right amount of brine, and they didn't skimp on the olives (I could have eaten like 3 more, but I decided to leave with a little dignity). Now, the Mediterranean Tavern Burger? I'm torn. Delicious either way, but the description led me to believe there would be an actual "patty." A more accurate description would be a gyro-style wrap on flatbread. Not your standard burger, but solid flavor and good execution. Upon payment I was pleased to see that I was not charged for the first drink which was not expected and greatly appreciated! Will 100% be back. I recently got a to go order from Stanford's. I've eaten at the restaurant before and I've always had a good meal but getting it to go was one of the worst meals I've ever had. I called to complain about my brown, baked potato and rubbery green beans and asked to speak to the manage. The manager justified everything they gave us. He said the potato was cooked earlier. The green beans were cooked fresh. He did not want to listen that the food was horrible. I told the manager that I would never eat there again because he wouldn't listen to how bad the meal was. He justified everything, he told me that I can't stop coming to a restaurant just because one bad experience. I was so frustrated that I ended up hanging up on him. We came in a a party of four on Friday at noon for some lunch. I enjoyed their coffee and ambiance-they have a gorgeous bar, and they play sports on TV. I like that they are flexible with their seating options-they have a dining room, and they have a bar. We opted for the bar because it was easier for the person in our party with a walker for this particular occasion (but they would have also been fine in the dining room). We split amongst ourselves the onion rings-these were crispy and good! I couldn't decide between the Smoked Salmon Chowder and their Caesar Salad, so I ordered both! Their smoked salmon chowder has a nice smokiness to it without overpowering the salmon. Their salad was refreshing and went well with the chowder. Overall, this is a great place to dine in. They have a large menu, and it was easy for everyone in our party to find something that they enjoyed. read more

This review is specific to the new happy hour menu. First the good: service was great, friendly and fast. The drinks were very good and a great price during HH. All the food tasted pretty great too. My issue with this happy hour was quantity/price and transparency. The listed menu prices looked great, but after getting the dishes I couldn't help but feel underwhelmed by the amount of food received. 2 chicken tenders for $10. 3 bites of ahi for $10. 6 stuffed mushrooms for $8 (we already ate 2 before the pic). And honestly, if the menu just stated the quantity of food for each dish, I probably would've felt fine with it. But it was the disappointment of expecting to get a good deal when it really wasn't. I understand eating out here is very pricey, I guess my expectations were too high. But more transparency in the HH menu would've been appreciated. read more

I really want to love this place. The ambiance is great; warm lighting, plenty of seating, and the bar always has a good game on. Lots of parking right outside. Walking distance to the light rail and right off the freeway exit. It should be an easy go-to spot for a casual night out with friends or a solo outing for a quick bite. But every time I come back, the experience falls short in the same ways. On this visit, the service started strong. Our server was friendly and welcoming. But once our food arrived, we didn't see her again until the very end of the meal. My partner ordered the steak with mashed potatoes; the steak was solid, but the potatoes leaned a little too heavy on the cheese. My order was where things really slipped. I got the buffalo wings, and they came out cold. My drink also had a small bug in it. Normally I'd ask for a quick fix, but with no check-ins after the food was dropped, there wasn't a chance to request anything. This is my third visit this year, and unfortunately it's become a pattern; issues with food temperature, flavor, or long waits even when the restaurant isn't busy. The staff is always kind, but the follow-through and attentiveness just isn't there. I still think Stanford's has potential, especially with the atmosphere and location. But the consistency just isn't matching the vibe, and that's what keeps these visits from being great. read more

Steak tips were either overcooked or cooked perfectly upon leaving the burner but then overcooking in the sizzling hot cast iron that's brought to your table, so ask for this rare or medium rare if you don't want it chewy. The standout here was server Tiffiney. Can't sing her praises enough. Above and beyond! She elevated our experience x 2 or 3 at least. read more

But when I arrived and was seated I was presented with the "Specials" menu, which was the new "Fall Specials." I delighted by the offerings and chose the burger. I have to say, putting an angus burger on a pretzel bun was a great idea. I've never seen anyone put a burger on a pretzel bun before. Very tasty, and the bun holds up well!! It didn't come back as medium, so next time I'll need to order medium rare, but it was still VERY TASTY... so it definitely wasn't overcooked. And since I'm allergic to bleu cheese, they allowed me to exchange it to goat cheese! All of the other items on it were exceptionally tasty and complimented each other. The waiter was attentive, yet a bit quick. One of the other staff that was originally at the front desk and appeared to deliver meals and bus tables was willing to stop by occasionally, which was sweet! I also received a free crème brûlée as birthday dessert to take home. I'm looking forward to coming back tomorrow to get the Fall Special of the Pear Bread Pudding. The food was great and prices reasonable (which is saying a lot considering the cost to eat at restaurants these days. There's a feeling of security and comfort in just knowing whenever you feel like it, you can go see them. That's Stanford's. When I want a good meal and a decent cocktail, I go to Stanford's. It's tried and true, reliable, and there whenever I feel like it. Stanford's has been one of those places in the Northgate area that have managed to stand the test of time and so many changes in the landscape. I love that I can go in there for the good old Americana fare and no matter what I get, I'm going to be satisfied with it. If I go in for some bar bites and cocktails during happy hour or take a full meal of the delicious pork chop, I'm happy with it. They have outdoor seating, bar area seating, or a full dining room, so an elevated dinner or casual meet up is your choice. read more

Well stop by Stanford Restaurant for my birthday dinner on July 25th last week. There was a $25 birthday gift off my dinner, but the server mess it up and couldn't take that $24. off correctly. But anyway I ordered the filet mignon 9oz steak cooked it rare dues to every time when I go to the steak house they overcooked it. But anyway the order was again 9 oz filet mignon, side Brussels sprouts and bake potatoes. The Brussels sprouts was way over cooked and wasn't good at all, but the rest was good. The steak was one of my best ever for this year. Really tasty. Overall it was a good experience except for the bill correction. We also ordered some cheesy bread. Went to Stanford's today for Mother's Day. Special menu: Avocado Toast and Benedict were good, nothing special. Apparently the Monte Cristo was deep fried and didn't have ham. Was looking forward to it, but decided to pass. Had the French Dip instead. MINIMAL prime rib. Even taking 1/2 the meat off one half and putting it on the other half, it was barely enough. The Au Jus was pretty good, but for $25, it was not worth it. Have had burgers here before, and they have been excellent. One in our group had the Cowboy Burger and said it was good but not spicy as described. The fries were limp and barely warm. Onion Rings good but also room temp. Seemed like they cooked a lot to stay ahead, but they sat way too long before being served. Fries should always be crispy and hot. For $14 the Mimosa Flight was a great deal. Cobb Salad was good and the roses for Mother's Day were a nice touch. Our server was excellent! Will be back, but wont order the French Dip again, and will send the fries back if they are served cold. read more

we've been going to Stanford's for years, pre-covid. it has had its up and downs. we quit going all together a year or two ago. But on a retry it had improved considerably. so we have been going once or twice a month with no complaints until today. today the food was once again noticeably "corporate" - not bad, not good, bland. not sure how they make it bland AND taste funny. weird spicing I imagine. we told the waiter we thought the soup bland with an odd taste. they told the chef who sent back "maybe it needs a little salt, but other wise it's fine". fair enough, it tastes the way they want it to. however, there was no effort to find out more. I guess if all their customers are the chef, then I guess it tastes fine. the waiter offered to substitute another soup to take home, but we declined. we were not seeking compensation, simply offering feedback, which apparently is not welcome. In general, the food is once again, 2 stars. BTW - most of the staff are terrific. read more

Simply delightful, our appetizers were delicately designed making them look appealing, and they were delectable. We had one of the most efficient servers, Ethan, who made sure we were taken care of and whether we needed anything. This made our day, at the 3:00 PM Happy Hour one of the best times we've had. We had a party of 4 & a service dog. When I called ahead for reservations, I told them a bit of my disability and asked for a quieter area with a good sized space for dog. They went above and beyond to make us comfortable! Food was superb! I'm picky about ambiance, but it was perfect! Not too brightly lit, nor to dark either. We will definitely be going back! Two of us ordered the fish sandwich off the lunch menu, and it was so bad we couldn't eat it. The others at our table ordered other things and were satisfied with their lunch. But from our table, we could all smell the bathroom every time someone came in or out of the bathroom door, and it wasn't good. read more
