This is our first time at Stan's. We order a Whose your Daddy family meal to try several items to n the menu, brisket, pulled pork, links and beef ribs. Best we're the ribs by far. Spicy sauce very tasty. I'd pass on the links as a angle order item. They give you plenty of food and we had enough to take home. Sides of cole slaw and potato salad Are ok. I'd try something else if and when I come back. I read other reviews that said that you are charged for side barbecue sauces. That wasn't our experience. We went for lunch. The adults both grabbed sandwiches and we grabbed two kids meals. The bbq was delicious and it was super kid friendly, color crayons and coloring pages, a kids menu with ham sandwich and macaroni and cheese, apple juice with lids and straws, chips and oranges. Went for lunch today. Ordered the beef brisket and was disappointed to find out they were out of the baked beans and they had just opened for the day. Instead we ordered the cream corn which simply tasted liked canned corn with a spicy seasoning. Also ordered the Caesar salad and it was a bit on the salty side. The beef brisket was good and moist. Service was good. We sat outside and halfway through our meal there was a bee that kept flying around our food so it was hard to enjoy while trying to keep the bee off of the food. A friend an I are both from the South, and like sampling BBQ places around Seattle to compare with what we got "back home". Stan's has excellent brisket. So tender you only need a fork and their "mild" sauce (it's actually spicy) is a perfect companion. They also serve up very good pork ribs and they serve a LARGE portion (I made 3 meals out of mine with what I took home). This was probably one of the saddest bbq places I've tried. Came here with a Groupon to use and even with the savings this place was not worth it. We ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of beans and a half rack of ribs with coleslaw. The brisket sandwich was dry and lacked flavor. Adding the sauces that came on the side marginally helped since the sauces themselves were pretty disappointing. The beans were on the watery side and nothing special. I think something from a can would have tasted better to me. As soon as the ribs and coleslaw came out, I knew it wasn't going to be very good. There was a greyish color to the ribs which was unappealing. The ribs were dry in some areas, the meat was oddly a pale white/grey, and where I could taste the smoked flavor or any flavor at all, it wasn't my taste. As for the coleslaw, I'm not sure how you can mess it up...but even that wasn't good. I only had one bit of it. The one redeeming factor for this place was the service. I am a beef fan and I ordered the brisket and their minimum is 1/2 lb so I had a lot of left over when I was done.. Who doesn't do a 1/4 lb? That is standard at a lot of places. They will do less meat if you order a brisket sandwich. Brisket does not seem to be their specialty, however, the pork ribs seem good but I don't eat much pork. My side was the Potato Salad and Medium heat Sauce. ....... Yuck! At the price (less than $30), the amount and quality of meat can't be beat. The real bummer was that I really didn't like the bbq sauce. It was just so heavy on the cumin. We sat at the bar first. 10-15 minutes later, after our orders were in, they decided to ID my young-looking brother. When he realized he didn't have it, they were really cool about getting a table ready for us quickly. I really want to love this place, but apart from the decent meats, I didn't find much else that great about the rest of the food. As noted by many others, this is a Kansas City Chief's-themed bar, which makes sense since I believe it's Kansas BBQ. In all fairness, perhaps I'm just not a fan of this style of BBQ? For one, their meat selection is good but the way they cook it means there's no real 'char' to the meat. I'm assuming this is the style and the way they cook it and I know many people like it, but I don't really care for it. There's also no cornbread and overall their sides aren't that great. The bread they serve is very similar to Wonder Bread, so it was underwhelming to me. Something also surprising to me was seeing what looked like 4 fly strips or air fresheners behind the bar (I'm assuming it's the former). Speaking of the bar, they also measure their cocktail pours down to the ounce. This is understandable to keep costs down, but that strict adherence to cost savings is usually found at chain restaurants which lack the charm of smaller places. I realize I'm just nit-picking here, and this last comment has no impact on my rating since I understand why they do it. No offense intended to the people in Seattle area but having lived in and visiter other regions of the country where Barbecue is a staple (e.g., Texas, Kansas City, the Carolinas, etc.), I learned not to have very high expectations for BBQ in our area. That said, i couldn't have been more pleased and delighted with my barbecue at Stan's Barbeque - the ribs, sausage and brisket we tried were all high quality meats that were slow smoked to perfection. As with others I came in with a Groupon and ordered the Who's Your Daddy to sample pork ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and the bratwurst/hotlink sausages along with creamed corn and baked beans sides. The four stars is mainly because even at full price this place is a great bargain and service is great. They comped me a dessert for changing tables to get a larger party seated. Now for the food. This is definitely sauce needed BBQ all around. Even the rub is pretty mild and not the salty/peppery stuff many are familiar with. The smoke is very subtle. Pork ribs are fall of the bone (which seems popular for many folks though I side with competition BBQ folks in thinking this is overcooked), brisket on medium fat side, and pulled pork very mildly smoked (unlike Costco refrigerated pulled pork) needing sauce. They have a variety of sauces. I got hot which is not very hot but pretty tasty. You can ask for more white bread and apparently rolls. Our server had difficulties with splitting our tabs correctly. This place is really narrow and isn't ideal for groups of more than four. Manny's pounders were $6.25 each. A bit steep for a BBQ joint. I ordered the Cowboy Sandwich for $12.50 and chose Coleslaw as my side. I appreciate that the BBQ sauce is served on the side instead of directly on the sandwich. I requested spicy BBQ sauce and was a bit disappointed when I tasted my BBQ and didn't taste/feel any spice at all. The coleslaw was standard. I was hoping the coleslaw would have offered a hint of horseradish. My bestie and I shared a cup of Chili for $3.99. I had forgotten Stan's BBQ serves cheap, musty tasting hamburger buns or white bread choices for sandwiches. The photo says it all- one cannot cut the sandwich in half without the bun disintegrating at and beyond the cut marks. The pulled pork was smoky but dry; I needed three containers of sauce to get it down. The brisket was the most tender brisket I have ever tasted. My suggestion would be to buy the brisket by the pound, invest in quality, flavorful buns and enjoy the sandwiches at home. They were out of coleslaw. The potato salad was boring: a hint of celery crunch and dill flavor was not enough to win a passing grade. The baked beans were not baked but more like white beans in a watery tomato sauce with a bit of chili pepper for spice. The service was fast. Restrooms clean. Two sandwiches with one side each cost $30 before tip. P.S. two hours later our stomachs hurt. I am wondering what is possessing me to give it two stars instead of one star. read more

I was hoping to write a more positive review today, but..... We have always enjoyed Stan's and tell everyone we know to go there!! We haven't eaten there in a couple of years, and some folks that we told to go there weren't impressed. We thought... What!! Stan's is amazing. It's our fav BBQ spot (it's a 45 min drive for us, but it's always worth it). We decided that our friends just didn't know good bbq, so we decided to swing in today for Father's Day. We arrived around 1130am, and not too many people were inside, and the wait was short to get drinks and put our order in. We decided to get the Hog Platter. We got the brisket (always our fav), pulled pork, smoked chicken, and burnt ends. Our sides were potato salad, beans, creamed corn, and coleslaw. Our food arrived quickly, but we missed the 4 or 5 different sauces that used to sit on the table :( We began to dig in and divide up the food but were quickly disappointed with the quality of the food!!! It was nothing like we were used to at Stan's, and we had been coming to Stan's at least 3 or 4 times a year for the last 10 years. There was little to no flavor in the meat. The brisket and pulled pork were dry, especially the pulled pork, and did not taste fresh. The burnt ends just kind of... I don't really know how to explain it, but ya know when meat is smoked, then reheated, causing it to break down almost like a moist but dry meat powder as you chew it - it's the best way I can explain it, well, that was the burnt ends. The potato salad was Reesers (or very similar), not homemade like we remembered. All the meat came out, luke warm, cooled super quick, and tasted like it might have been left over from the day before. Beans and creamed corn were good but not enough to save the rest of the food :(. Unfortunately, we will not be recommending Stan's to anyone looking for good bbq. We may try again in a few weeks to see if anything has improved, but for now.... very disappointing and sad that it's not good anymore The staff was relatively friendly, quick, and responsive. read more
