This past weekend was my first time at Stan's and I enjoyed it so much on Saturday morning, I went back by myself to enjoy a latte outside on Sunday. If you're wanting to have a decent selection of donuts, make sure you get there really early. We went about 9:30-10am and they were pretty much picked over, however we did enjoy a couple of Stanwiches (breakfast sandwiches) and shared an old fashioned lemon pistachio donut which was really good. On Sunday, I splurged and probably shouldn't eat for the next two weeks as I swear, that's all I did in Chicago.... I purchased their buttercream filled donut that looks like a hostess cupcake, a blueberry fritter, and a cinnamon roll. The filled donut was perfections, the fritter (per my significant other) was a tad on the dry side as well was my cinnamon roll. I wish I could give this place 4.5 stars. If you're in the area (by the Mag Mile / Northwestern Med) you should definitely give it a try. The staff is super friendly and patient as I witnessed a lot of demanding and not friendly customers; they handled themselves with class. read more

My son has a special place in his stomach for donuts and seeing as this was in our path while we were in the area one day, he coaxed me to stop in. Once inside you look at those cases of donuts and other baked goods and quickly realize you can't say no. But the madness has to have its limits, so I told him he could have one, and one only. No need to give diabetes a wake up call, right? I'm not gonna lie, the donuts we had were awfully damn good. The kind that fill you up with just one too, these suckers are indulgent. My sugar high kicked in within seconds and lasted a good hour. All in all I'd highly recommend, especially if you like donuts or other baked pastries. I needed coffee and wondered into this place. I walked in and my coffee addiction quickly changed to a coffee and donut addiction. I got the chocolate glazed donut and a Lotta. They where both very good. The place was very clean hade Disney music playing and was decorated with fun. The place reminds me of a coffee shop bakery that would be at Disney World. At 9am, a lot of the donuts were gone, so I ended up getting a cinnamon bun & cherry old-fashioned. Neither one was good. The cherry old fashioned was sickly sweet (the cherry tasted too syrupy like cough medicine) and the cinnamon roll was super dry (dispute having a ton of frosting dumped on it). My husband and I visit Chicago quite often and were always looking at ways to eat delicious brunch. However, we were on our way back to Indy so we just stopped to have a quick doughnut and coffee. We read reviews about this place so we decided to try it and it was great. They have a lot of options as far as doughnuts and drinks are concerned which we really enjoyed. I also love the community seating which allowed for conversation. I am pretty simple so I got a cinnamon sugar doughnut and my husband got coconut which he also enjoyed. Staff members were so kind and attentive. Each remained calm and professional, took care to make sure orders were correct and carefully made, even with a line of 5-6 people. The donuts are out of the world, not a bad price either. We got a half dozen. Great location in the Northwestern Lavin pavilion, where my husband could do some work while I was upstairs for tests. came to stan's donut at 9:30am on a saturday afternoon. was expecting a lot of the donuts to be gone but there was a large variety! overall atmosphere is super cute-love the interior style and all the pink branding. very short line and took ~5 minutes to get our donuts we got: boston cream pie blueberry fritter vegan pumpkin (limited edition) these were all speciality donuts and were $2.99 each. kind of pricey so we wanted to get unique flavors that we don't eat often. boston cream pie -- really good! it wasn't overly sweet and has a large amount of cream in the center. blueberry fritter -- my personal favorite. not overly sweet and i really liked the crunch. blueberry flavor is there but more on the subtle side. also, one of the bigger pastries that stan's sells. vegan pumpkin -- was excited for this one since it's around for a limited time! definitely my least favorite one though...it was good, but the pumpkin flavor was quite subtle and also the icing was extremely sweet. like, really sweet. overall though i had a great experience and would come back :) i know this location competes with do-rite donuts on the same block so i'm curious about checking it out tomorrow! definitely not a healthy breakfast, but definitely one to indulge read more

Stan's is a neighborhood coffee shop that serves creative, made-from-scratch donuts and locally roasted java. It's a Chicago chain, and this location is in Northwestern Hospital. Earlier this week, I visited a friend having surgery, and I brought a box of donuts back to the exceptional nurses who were caring for her. Had no idea these are their favorites. I got my friend the lemon-custard-filled "LeStan" Croissant Donut. And I splurged on a Biscoff Banana Pocket. The Biscoff is filled with caramel cookie butter and fresh banana slices, the top dribbled with more of the same, plus chocolate pearls. It's rare I can't finish a donut in one seating, but I had to save half of this for later. The shop is set up to be Covid compliant. It's on a corner with lots of windows and light streaming in. In another time, it would be perfect for a meet-up with friends or just sitting in the window people watching. Notice some complaints about freshness. Stan's doesn't use preservatives, so for the freshest experience, shop before noon. read more

I get my doughnuts at Mariano's in Lakeview. I got them there because it was convenient. They are overpriced and way too sweet, but, easy to access. I got the Old Fashioned either plain or chocolate. The last ones I bought taste different...and not in a good way. Something changed...maybe they are using a different mix or freezing them now. I had both plain and chocolate and the taste was so off and different than previous, that I pitched them. I won't be back! Waste of money. read more

Stan's is a popular staple in Chicago, offering a wide variety of donuts that are freshly baked every morning. I don't get the hype. I really don't. We were walking around Chicago and saw every location packed at all hours of the day. We kept thinking "it's just a donut shop" but of course, we needed to try it. I picked up 3 donuts so we could try a variety. I got a maple bar, a chocolate bar, and a red velvet donut. Holy sweetness! I love sweets but this was too much sugar. I also ordered peppermint mochas and that was just straight sugar too. We couldn't finish the mochas. The bar donuts were decent, they were soft, and the frosting was very sweet. The red velvet though... terrible. It almost tasted like it was a couple of days old. I took one bite and tossed it. I love most things red velvet but I just couldn't do this. Red velvet should not be that sweet. Too much white chocolate overpowers everything else. At least we can say we tried it but we won't go back next time we're in town. read more

This is my first time trying Stan's Donuts. I just some how happened to walk by this place and seeing a long line up and I had no idea why I just ended up lining up along with others. I didn't even feel like having a donut but because I am already in line, I felt weird to not get anything. So I did look around. I asked what is their most popular item and I was told it was the Biscoff Banana Pocket. Pretty expensive for a donut coming around $4 USD. It was pretty filling. Almost like a meal. It was good. Also, it was unique. You can't get this donut in Canada. I had the donut at the restaurant and it was surprising to see how many people just come non-stop. Lines are forming out the door. They are super busy. Guess if you come to Chicago, you have to give this place a try. read more

Stan's is my most frequented donut shop in Chicago. They offer so many specialty donuts it makes decision making a tough job. After all, why wouldn't I want to order every donut from the menu?! I've tried a whole bunch of their donuts, needless to say, and one that recently stands out is their vegan chocolate donut. I'm not vegan but my gosh this donut had the perfect texture and just the right amount of chocolate. It's not overly sweet, unlike some of their other donuts- namely, the "pockets," such as chocolate pocket with nutella/banana, and biscoff pocket. We came to Chicago with two donut shops to try: Do-Rite Chicken and Donuts and Stan's Donuts. I went to Stan's first because it was closest to our hotel. The store itself was super clean, bright, and fancy. There were fun decorations and the donut presentation was really nice. We ordered a maple bar, a sprinkled cake, and a glazed old-fashioned (for me). There were a few tables in the dining area and we found one where the three of us could sit. There is a napkin dispenser on each table. We didn't order coffee because it didn't seem that they put much focus on that part of the donut experience here. The donuts were really good! The old-fashioned was tasty and would have been even better warm. I was especially impressed with the maple bar! It was a nice bold maple flavor and not too sweet. They gave us our donuts in a fancy bag. They have a loyalty program if you are a regular donut kind of person. We were all pretty happy with the donuts here and after trying the Do-Rite option a little later, we all concluded that this was the superior donut shop...easily. Can't comment on the coffee at this time. This is a great donut shop that clearly has an "upscale" atmosphere, and does donuts very well. read more

A+ awesome. I'm trying to eat healthier and I had every intention of getting egg bites but then I saw the pistachio donut and got both. My son got a plain bagel. The plain bagel was exactly what my son wanted so that got good reviews. The pistachio donut was excellent. The egg bites were what you've come to expect from sous vide egg bites but they are about 50% bigger than the Starbucks version and the bacon sticks out and is still crispy rather than some where it is pureed and soft inside the egg. Definitely worth the stop. Really good. Really inexpensive. Really fast. You can't ask for more than that. read more

Coffee was fine and reasonably priced. I got two hash browns and they were not crispy. Flavor was ok but I was really expecting them to be crispy. Would've rather bad McDonald's for sure. Dining inside was ok but the floors were SO sticky and gross. My flip flops were sticking to the floor and squeaking as I walked. The floors were absolutely filthy. When I slid the table closer, I was shocked by the amount of dirt and crumbs underneath.
